Anyone have a an issue where the phone is stuck on the white charging symbol (phone is off) and u cant turn the phone on w/o a battery pull? I've tried d/c and connecting the usb but the symbol is still there. LTE Galaxy Nexus
Any ideas?
I had it once, but I did not have to battery pull. I waited for the white battery icon to go away, and then held the power button like normal until it vibrated. It seems to not like to boot until the battery icon is gone.

Hey, I have a problem with an old HTC Desire of my brother: Yesterday the phone was charging and then just crashed. When i power it on, the HTC-screen appears and just after that the screen turns black. Then I have to pull out the battery to be able to do this again.
The screen flickers when the bootscreen is displayed an gets darker before it goes finally black. I think the battery is empty, because the pins in the charging socket are twisted, so I think the battery wont get charged.
If I press the back button and power this menu appears, but then the phone also shuts down. If I press volume down and power the bootscreen appears but the phone turns off before I can see the bootloader
ROM: Cyanogenmod 7
S-Off, Root
What do you think? My brother says that the phone was almost fully charged when it crashed, but when I plug in the charger now the LED normaly shing red is not on..
Edit: I managed to get to the cyanogenmod screen, but then it turned off. Im pretty sure it is the battery
Any help?
ok so earlier today my s3 ran out of battery and shut off. I attempted to charge it, but noticed the red indicator light wasn't on. I tried to turn the device on, but all it did was vibrate and show the battery level logo with the circle in the middle as if its computing the battery level, then shuts back off. most of the time it will just vibrate and loop the samsung logo and then shut off again. sometimes it also shows that my battery is nearly fully charged after i left it on the charger while i was in class, but then shuts off. the farthest it has showed anything on start up was the at&t logo with the white background, then it shuts back off. i've tried to boot the phone connected to the charger and took the battery out, that didn't work. tried to take the battery out and leave it for 10 mins and put it back in, that didn't work. although it would vibrate everytime i put the battery in. i also tried to boot the phone in recovery mode. it would say recovery mode booting in blue letters, then it would go to the samsung and galaxy s3 logos, but then shut off again. also tried the download mode boot up, but i just saw the OS warning screen for a second, then it shut off.. i've ran out of ideas on what to do. hoping anyone could provide anymore advice for me. thanks in advance!
Alright so my ls970 doesn't respond at all when it's all connected, but when I pull off the back and pull the the battery off and plug it in, it just shows a flashing red light in the top right. Also I plug it in and it shows the Google logo and then shows a battery with a charging symbol in middle. I tried all button combinations and trying to reset it but it doesn't work. Also when I plug it into the computer, the computer recognizes it and then it loses it and connect again and loses it. Any ideas?

If you already have the back off, pull the battery, try to power on the device with no battery, hold the power button to drain the battery, then put the battery back and try to charge it without attempting to power it on. Let it sit for at least a couple hours, then try to power it on again.
If it is all the way dead and you have the battery out or disconnected, there is always a chance of a brick. Just saying. Keep trying, though.
The other option would be to charge just the battery with some sort of power supply (with the correct voltage/wattage) and put it back in the phone, or get a different, fully charged battery from another device and try it in yours. Or try to find a new battery.
I just received a used Tab S 10.5 from a reputable Ebay supplier. It didn't turn on initially so I plugged in the charger and it showed a solid gray battery icon with a solid white lightning bolt. I assume that means it's fully charged. Still wouldn't turn on with the power button so I tried holding the power and volume buttons together. I'd get a short vibration after 6 or 7 seconds and the battery icon would go off but it wouldn't start. I finally got it to start (not sure what I did differently) but now it has been stuck on the Samsung Tab S opening screen for several minutes. I tried turning it off with the power button but holding it down for about 10 seconds had no effect so I let it go and the logo screen stayed on.
Before I contact the supplier for a refund or exchange I would like to know a few things. Are the Samsung Galaxy Tabs finicky about turning on? Any known issues with power buttons? What's the proper procedure with the power button alone doesn't work? I've seen both power + volume down and power + volume up.
Update 30 min after original post: my assumption about the battery icon was incorrect. I tried turning it on again it worked and the battery showed 3%. I started the setup but just connecting to my network drained the battery down to 0% (even though it's plugged into the charger) so it shut off. At least I know now I'll have to wait a few hours.

Since the issue has been resolved (and was due to inadequate information on my part rather than a problem with the tablet), I am asking the moderator to remove this thread.
hi. i just got a really old nexus 5x.
the battery has expanded ( or swelled). it was left unused for a couple of months.
i removed the battery by opening up the device.
well, before removing the battery, when connected to the charger, only a "charging battery" icon was showing on the screen. no percentage. phone didn't boot up, if power button is pressed, "android" icon appeared, then again "battery icon".
after removing battery, i connected the charger.
same result. doesn't boot up. "android" icon appeared when power button is pressed, then back to "charging battery" icon
i pressed "vol down+power", it took me to recovery menu.
(doesn't have a custom recovery though, everything stock)
i might have a new battery tomorrow
but is the phone dead? or it just doesn't bootup because no battery?
(i assume the older battery is completely dead)
