Please help me decide. I've read some about both, but wanted a 1 on 1 comparison or decision. The Jabra looks a little bit big, but if the sound quality is much better then it may be worth it. I'll mainly be using just one earpiece, but I will also use both for MP3's quite often. Thanks
Come on guys, I know some of you own 1 or the other of these 2 products......
Neither; get the jaybird jb-200.

I haven't tried the jabra bt-8010 - but compared to the voyager 855 and the motorola s9, the jb-200 is much better.

Well thank you for the response, though Amazon was jsut a expensive as the site you linked. So I'm still up in the air, but leaning to the Voyager 855.
Thanks for voting to 2 of you guys!!
Pulled the trigger on the Plantronics...I'll see how it works tommorow
Used the Plantoronics for a couple of weeks now and I love it. Sound quality is great and the headset is very discreet. I'm glad I didnt buy the bulky Jabra, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
true i was gonna say go with the smaller one, with headphnes there is never any real sound quality anyways usually no bass at all obviously d if u have bass like the skullcrushers they arent bluetooth there big nd bulky but they still dont have any lower ids so yeah u cant really get any good sound qualtiy in headphones so just get smaller or easyer

Can u pls share your experience about plantronics 855? I am eager to know mp3 sound quality and call quality especially any complaints from the caller at other end...
Thanks
Krups (and all)..
I picked up a Plantronics Voyager 855 from Radioshack for under $70 last week in anticipation of recieving my HTC Touch Pro. I've tested it on my TP and ann old Nokia 6820. Unfortunately, I did not much care for it.
My former headset was a Jabra (afraid I don't remember the model, it was one of the first jabra bluetooth sets which wrapped around the ear with a short boom mic... sits quite flush to the head). I very much liked the audio quality but the battery was dying in it quickly, plus I wanted an AD2P(?) capable headset for stereo audio from teh Touch
Issue #1 for Plantronics: Fit. Regardless of which ear gel I used, I couldn't get the headset portion to fit well in my ear, continually worked loose and woudln't stay put. The stereo earpiece was a little better, but also didn't fit well. Matter was worse in stereo mode as the ear loop caused the device to sit oddly in my ear and woudl work loose from my ear constantly.
Issue #2: Mic. While I was attracted to the extendable boom capability, people couldn't hear me well at all. I have a deep voice so perhaps it didn't pick up my voice well.... On two seperate occasions (indoors) callers couldn't not hear me well causing me to switch to my handset for the remainder of the call.
Issue #3: Poor call audio quality. The call quality was "tinny", and sounded very poor compared to my ancient Jabra. Very low volume and when i adjusted the phone and/or headset for more volume, encountered what seemed like distortion. My own voice (in voicemail) sounds different on this headset than the handset or my old Jabra.
Pro: The stereo quality was acceptable to me, outside of the volume issues (which may be phone related). By no means are they high quality headphones, but I would use them for commuting w/ Audio. My HTC provided stereo headset (usb) sounds much better.
I'll be returning my Plantronics Voyager 855 to Radioshack this weekend. I intend on trying the Jabra version you've referenced (Ebay sells them new pretty cheap) as soon as I have some time to order one.
Regards
FLR
I got the BT8010 from NewEgg for $20
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875999350
It's not as nice as my Plantronics 815 was.
The BT8010's volume doesn't go up enough for me to use it like in the car or outside at work. It's also huge and just kinda looks dorky.
For listening to music, my Motorola S9 headphones are way better and more comfortable.
Thanks FLR for detailed observations..
I've had the 855 for a while now. Other than being somewhat uncomfortable in the ear after a while, it has generally great sound with good bass. As its aged, the stereo connection is flaking on me a bit. I have to actually wiggle the connection where the stereo side plugs into the regular headset. I've tried cleaning the connections, etc., but have not had any luck. Stereo does come back to me when I pressure the connection, so I know it is related to that.
I just ordered the Plantronics (Should be coming tomorrow) to replace my BlueAnt X5 which was fine but too bulky. The Jabra has a lot of overkill features like a display (which is completely useless since you can't see it on your ear), built-in phone book, and vibration but it can't skip to the previous track. The Plantronics is the in-ear type so it doesn't fall off while jogging.
The Plantronics Pulsar 260's are the best I've used by far.
I reluctantly have to agree with FuzzyLabRat on his Plantronics 855.
I was searching for answers to the low volume problem on his list, when I found this thread using Google. Even though I'm registered here, I figured some reviews from people who purchased the 855 would help me find a fix.
Some other negatives on the 855:
My volume control quit working for the lowering volume side of the rocker switch after having it for 3 months.
I bought it so I could workout and have my HTC 6800 with me for emergencies and work issues. The main part of the 855 kept falling out of my ear.
I just ordered the Jaybird.
Crossing my fingers..
I got both. 855 rocks.. It comes with the black ends.. Use them.. They fit tighter.. With them, the base is great, sound is great..
I still use the jawbone for better calls while driving,,,,, but music and phone.. hell yes..
Since I cannot get my Tilt2 to pair successfully with my car *sniff* I guess my only option is to get myself a BT headset for when I am in the car. With all of them that are out there, does anyone have suggestions as to which one is the "best" in terms of call clarity, comfort (I'm interested in the earbud type) and of course connectivity to the Tilt2?

Try the T1 Rugged Bluetooth Head set from Blue Ant

Motorola HX1. Excellent headset. Dual mics, bone conduction technology, stealth mode and excellent noise cancellation via stealth mode. You can drive with your window down while talking on this headset and the party on the other end of the conversation will never hear the wind whipping by you. A bit pricey, but if you want the best you can't get better for under 100 bucks.
Oh, forgot to mention, works great with the Tilt2. It uses voice prompts to walk you through the pairing process. And if you buy the retail version you will get several rubber ear pieces to make sure it will fit your ear canal. The plain vanilla box version on Newegg is about 20 bucks cheaper but only has one ear piece so this makes it a crap shoot as to whether it will fit your ear correctly.
Plantronics Discovery 975 function flawlessly with my Tilt2....
The Blue Ant V1 is really sweet!!!
I bought a Plantronics Discovery 975 last week to replace an ageing Jabra. The call quality is superb, both for me and the caller and the comfort is superb - Fits in the ear without a loop-hook and is small and light enough to remain there all day with no discomfort. Connectivity with my TP2 is flawless.
Couple this with the nifty charger/holder that will charge the headset twice without going near a mains socket and it is by far the best headset I have seen or used.
Thank you all for your suggestions. I did some comparing between the ones suggested - BlueAnt T1, Motorola Endeavor HX1 and Plantronics Discovery 975. I'm going to give the BlueAnt T1 a try, the voice commands and in-the-ear canal fit look to be what I'm looking for .... and for the price, $33, I couldn't pass it up. Thanks again!
Glad to be of assistance.
I've been in the market to get my first Bluetooth headset to use with my EVO. I eventually narrowed it down to either the Plantronics Voyager 520 or Voyager PRO. I decided to go with the 520 since it was $30 vs the PRO's $70 and I didn't want to overspend if the 520 would suit my needs. It works fine with the EVO, but max volume is barely sufficient. I can hear the other party, but I have to make sure to listen carefully when driving. I was hoping for something more along the lines of what I experienced with the wired phones that came bundled with my Pre - very good sound, landline quality, plenty of volume. However I'm not sure if the PRO is too big, considering I'd like this to have this with me (in my pocket) all the time. I'm also not sure if the headset or the EVO is the limiting factor with volume, the PRO might not be any better.
Can anyone recommend a BT headset for the EVO with good volume, and that is also preferably compact like the Voyager 520? Thanks.
best is a personal opinion
i have a jawbone and like it cuts out the background noise voice activated and fits nicely on my face
i've been using the Jawbone Icon for over a yr. and im very happy with it and it works very well with my Evo....

Hero? Thinker? Is the difference only aesthetics? I can't even tell how these ones go on your ear.
Yes, "best" is very subjective, of course. I can say I'm looking for compact and sufficient volume when driving on the highway, so hopefully that helps narrow it down.
i loved my jawbone 2, but have not been impressed with audio quality on the icon. the plantronics pro is an amazing headset, but im with you on the size. ive been using the plantronics 975 since it came out and ive yet to find anything better. its light, small, comfortable and has excellent audio quality, though i wouldnt call it exceptionally loud. you may want to look into a custom ear mold to help with volume

The difference in the different Icon models is the aesthetics and the voice responses (I believe they call these "personalities") but they are all the same hardware.

Thanks, I'm just unsure if this volume is as good as it's gonna get with this phone. Would hate to spend $70-$100 on the Voyager PRO or Jawbone just to find the same results and have to return. I'm interested in hearing others' opinions of BT volume while driving on the highway.
I get great wind noise reduction with the Voyager Pro. I've owned the Jawbone I, Jawbone Icon, BlueAnt Q1, and several Motorola headsets. The Voyager Pro has the best sound quality and noice cancelation of any Bluetooth headset that I've used. Regarding the Voyager Pro vs. 520, from what I've ready the 520 is built better but the Pro has better sound quaility.

Thanks, would you say the Voyager PRO has sufficient volume with your EVO 4G in all scenarios, even while driving? How would you compare the size/weight to other headsets you've used?
Jawbone Icon Thinker on special for $49 with free shipping at Walmart, Here you go
ant q1?
How is Q1 audio loudness comparing to other's mentioned here.
I have plantronics 320, older model and volume also on that one could be louder so i expect same loudness of the bt on 520, in which case i would pass on it. Jawbone Ace is kinda on expensive side for Bluetooth. No reason to pay double since i don't think it's twice as better, so contemplating on AntQ1.
Anyone has it to say it's damn loud ?
I second the Voyager PRO. I preferred headset, and I've had quite a few including other plantronics, nokia, and motorola.
jawbone, it's the only BT i've ever used that I didnt want to immediately trash after using the first time.
I like the moto txth17 headset. Plenty loud. Great sound quality and either fits with a loop or those rubber ear things that never work for me. Also its a2dp so it plays all the audio in the earpiece and streaming music quality is actually quite good.

I would vote for either Moto H17txt or Jabra Extreme. Picked up the Jabra for $43 after tax at Staples, on sale and with $10 coupon, like it quite well.
After comparing the -
Jawbone Icon
BlueAnt t1
Plantronics Discovery 925
I decided to go with the t1. Anyone have any experience with it?
Will be replacing my trusty, old Plantronics Explorer 360 After a good year and a half run...it finally "bit the dust"
Thread started in "Accessory" forum...
i just got a jawbone II yesterday, and the sound quality is sub-par, and it fits like a shoe fits my hand (not well)
honestly, i went back to my ps3 bluetooth. quality is SO much better, and it fits. it's bigger, but the difference in comfort and sound quality more than make up for it
Plantronics Pro is out of question for me. Too big and long. cmon. I might as well wear one of those antennas with backpack for better reception. lol.
Icon is twice as much as others. Thinking of ant q1. Anyone had it ?

It is already outdated. BlueAnt is already about to release the Q2. Check out the thread I started in the Accessory forum. I posted the links to the official Q2 site.
Also from some videos and reviews I read, the Q1 was sort of.cheap in the build. That's why I went with the T1. Basically a Q1, but built a lot more rugged.
Hey guys, so I did a search and didnt seem to come up with a similar post. I'm looking for input on a pair of bluetooth headphones with a mic to pair to my streak. So far, I've found online two pairs that fit my needs, SONY DR-BT101 and SONY DR-BT140Q
I know there are tons out there but the reason I have selected these two is because they have controls ON the earpieces and because there is no extra "dongle" that the headphones plug into, I want to be able to just wear them and not have to fumble with another clip.
So my question to you is, anything else you can suggest, or any comments on the two I found above? Thanks in advance!
The LG HBS-250 is what I have and I like them just fine. They can be had for pretty cheap on Amazon right now too.
Two cons though that some people hate: The media controls are a little cramped all together, and they are not very stylish looking AT ALL.

I have bought the Plantronics BackBeat 903 for 56$ from eBay. I have never regret this. Their quality is excellent for a bluetooth set. Battery lasts long...
Also have the control on the right earpiece.
I use Sony DR BT20NX , which are in the ear earphones.
I have not tried either model in your OP, but I did pick up the Motorola S10-HD. You never mentioned your desired use (around the house, working out, while commuting, etc), but these are perfect if you want to also use them while you're active.
I use them every time I go to the gym, sound great and they work perfect every time. LOVE never having to un-tangle cords anymore. I just flew with them on my last trip and listened to music on my Nexus One and watch movies on iPad and they were great. When I'm working on my laptop I'll use them for calls so I can type at the same time, and I'm told I sound almost as good as I do on my N1 (N1 with active noise cancellation sounds like a landline). They include 4 styles of ear buds for different shaped ears. The controls on the sides easily control volume, answer/end, play/pause/next/previous for the stock music app AND Pandora (except the "back" of course). The devices you pair them to have to have AVRCP of course.
Wall charger is MicroUSB, so I can also charge with with my N1 chargers and vice versa.
Those are the Pros.
Cons (to be fair):
-I have a slimmer head (7 1/2 hat size). If you have a larger head, you could still use them by flipping them upside down, but not for everyone.
-If you aren't sure if they'll fit, buy somewhere that'll let you return them. If they don't fit, you'll hate them: Obviously comfort but also since they're noise-isolating, if they don't fit they wont seal in your ear, and they wont sound good at all.
Pricing:
Average retail seems to be $79.99. Best Buy just raised their price on them $10 to $89.99 (BS i agree). However Best Buy DOES price match "brick-and-mortar" competitors, as well as Amazon.com (HAS to be "sold by and ships by" Amazon). They price matched the Motorola Friends and Family Sale (since their store is hosted by Amazon.com) for 60% off. Cost me $36 with tax. Stupid-good headphones for the money, no complaints at all.
i have the LG HBS-250 and its great
I want a good set of bluetooth earbuds. Would be great for activities so I can lay my phone down and not worry about damage.
Hello,
atm I am looking for a good bluetooth headset. there are a lot of reviews but they usually tend to not test with glasses. My budget is round about 100 euro.
the most important point is that it is comfortable to wear with glasses. in addition it should provide buttons to mute/unmute, answer call. nice to have would be volume buttons and support for a newer bt versions for battery consumption reasons.
can someone recommend a good bt headset which meets this requirements?
I've been using the Plantronics Pro series with glasses and small behind the ear hearing aids for a long time. I think the large size of the battery unit helps keep it in place, and I haven't found anything that can beat the sound quality or battery life.
For what you described, go with LG Tone+ HBS-730. I reviewed it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226437
Not the latest BT, but it has 15 hours of battery life which is more then enough. Easy controls with individual buttons rather then one multi-function button and multifunction volume buttons. Sits comfortably around your neck and earbuds will not interfere with your glasses. Not the best audio quality (lack of bass), but great for phone calls and general music listening. You will not be disappointed!

My current model is the Voyager Pro UC+ B230 but all of the Voyager Pro models I've seen and used are the same size.
