As far as the ROM is concerned, I am a firm believer that the stock ROM is damn near perfect, just use titanium to remove bloatware and autostarts to control what runs and when it runs.
Honestly this phone is so damn fast and stable as is, you really can't improve on it as far as real world performance is concerned. Back in the EVO days you had to flash to get the most out of the hardware, with this thing, it is perfect the way it is.

I'm looking for the stock camera app from the Samsung Epic that has the good panoramic pictire setting. Does any one know if there is a way to get it on our Evo's? I absolutely love the way the panoramic option works. Thanks everyone that builds roms and themes.

I am actually looking for our good old stock camera app for the Evo. I personally think they did a great job with it. I am currently using CM7 and pretty disappointed with the camera. Any clue on how to get the stock camera?
By the way, never used the epic camera bit this panoramic option sounds intriguing I may need to check it out too if someone knows how to her this apk.

Yeah it's pretty cool. It automatically takes 8 pictures that are lined up to make one long picture. I love they part of my wifes Epic.

hey guys i just traded my evo 3d for the epic 4g , im addicted to phones and flashing. I trade phones like every week whats the best and famous rom here? if you dont mind asking.
They are ALL good. Go into the Development forum and read through and pick some and try. Each one has different features. Anything else is just opinion.
I tried all the GB roms, but the rebooting and general unstableness sent me back to Froyo. I am having great results with SRF 1.2. YMMV.

I recommend these:
SyndicateRom Frozen(flash kernel immediately after this rom)
ReVolted ROM
Urban Regeneration.

Hey guys I got my hands on a Epic 4G from a friend for doing some computer work and I have a Evo 4G as well. I really like the Epic 4G but it is so much different in terms of rooting and flashing, I have my phone rooted with the latest version of Gingerbread and with ACS Recovery based on CWM5. I am planning on running CM7 but I am looking for the best kernel to use and the best way to install them.
Also are there any scripts that are similar to Dark Tremors Apps 2 SD? Thanks for you time!

What are some good kernels to try that have good performance and wireless n capabilities?
Honestly if ur gonna run cm7 with the stoc kernal I would try that for the time being or follow the nightlies. But a couple of other ppl have kernals for cm7 but try stock first then go from there. I'm on nightly 15 and haven't found ay probs with it yet

Everything good is in the top 10 in Development. You can't ask what is the best because each phone reacts differently to the kernels. Also move to CWM 5.027 since it is officially supported for our phone now. Once you move to CM7 you will be on MTD and either stick with MTD ROMs or Odin back and repartition your phone to try BML ROMs. Read through the development ROMs and kernels to follow the bugs and fixes some users experience.

Thanks for your help guys, guess I am a little spoiled with my Evo and was surprised there was far less available for the Epic.
So I am un and running on CM7 with no problems but by wireless speeds are horrible, the link speed are wireless b speeds (19-30Mbps) will this kernel solve this problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342047 I thought this phone was b/g/n like the Evo.

i find myself using shadow kernel. seems to work very well with my phone with cm7. never had good results with samuri. plus the voodoo color is awesome and uv/oc is a must for me. but in the end you just have to try out them all and find which one works best for you

I ran an evo for a week. It was interesting.
There is less going on with the epic as far as rom choices, but what we lack in quantity we make up for in quality. CM7 is very good and stable. With it you don't really need apps2sd because there is a bunch of space available. As far as a good kernel, stock is fine, but I have been using KernelSanders. It's stable, can overclock, and great battery life. I'd check it out

Unless you like the ACS recovery better, I would recommend upgrading your recovery to CWM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuLWzeJ1lT4&feature=relmfu
Here's a tutorial video for installing CM7 on the Epic (Don't forget it's MTD): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tzT7ZjMdEw
I'm looking for the best rom to use that has the hotspot hack also if 4g works with it too that will be great guys that's
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I've used the hacked hotspot on Evo Classic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312414 and on Smooth 'N Sexy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131217 and they both work fine, although I still prefer wifi-tether. Both these roms are minimalistic and fast with excellent battery life, especially if you flash a Freedom kernel.

use this to root for gingerbread
I have the exact same problem just the opposite. I have an EVO and my wife is on Epic kinda funny how the world goes round...
Decks 1.3d with tiatmat 3.3.7 (LEE Kernal) everything works right out of the box! hotspot built into rom. best battery life of every ROM I flashed. links are in my signature in case you want to try it. The great thing about the EVO is you will probably trade your wife phones flashing and tweaking is so much better I found the epic to be kinda painful in comparison

So i am curious on everyone experience with the epic if i should stay on the shift or bounce to the epic my main concern is a stable ics whitch the epic is a while off from getting way way too buggy for me...

Woah nononono our ICS is top of the line. Not buggy at all, and frankly I'd like to know where you heard that lie.
It has the best community out of any Android phone ever, and the battery life after rooting will make you regret even having the Shift.
Well i am talking about the shifts ics not the epic i have both phones rooted but i get like 13 to 14 hours on my shift and my wifes epic is lucky to get 6 and she is rooted and undervolted as well so i was going to trade her phones

Take it from me. My brother has an Evo Shift, I have an Epic. The Epic destroys the Shift. I'd get the Epic if I were you.
Lol I loved playing with the Shift, 1.8GHz stable and. 1.9GHz somewhat stable lol.
That sucker was great, I jumped to Epic mainly because it was a tad bigger and had a 5 Row Qwerty KB.
But if your just wanting a phone to mess with to me Honestly id stick to the Shift. But for a phone to have service for and be a daily driver its the Epic.
I did notice that GPS on 2.2 For the Shift was much snappier than Epic on any OS.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
well i am looking for a ics driver and i wanted to start porting over here tried porting on the shift and it was a ***** for sure.. 1.8 was sickening for sure but i am missing my big screen are the ics roms stable enought for daily drivers?? thanks guys appreciate the responses..
What is the point of 1.8ghz overclock!? Lmao if battery life is really trouble for you, get a 17$ epic 4g touch battery, fits like a glove in this phone.

The point is to have the ability and be able to never lagg lol.
I had play games on the shift that the epic couldn't ever be able to do because of the speed just saying....
And battery life for me wasn't too bad on 1.5GHz+
