The issue I am seeing is when music is being played on the phone and a call comes in, afterwards the music turns back on but only at half the volume. All volume indicators are at max and system sounds come through at that level. If I close the music player and re-launch the volume returns to what the phone is set at.
To put a bit of history into this issue, I had actually installed the vicious (I think) JB image on my phone back a while before it was officially released by verizon. With that release, I saw the exact same issue. I tend to listen to recorded music a lot during the day, so with this little glitch I took the phone back to ICS.
But now with the official release on the verizon network the exact same problem is happening. Mostly I have music recorded from DAR.fm and play it through that app. I do have some music in google music but can't quite remember how the details of it resuming after a call went.
So, while I'm querying the app dev guys for the various music programs I wanted to see if anybody else has seen this type of issue.
Thanks
I'm running CM10 and I notice the same issue but for notification sounds. When the sound alerts, it dims the music volume. Once the notification is done sounding, the music volume does not return to normal.

Glad I'm not the only one seeing this.
I know issues brought up here have been noticed by the folks working on the official releases, but is there any system in place to report specific issues like this to either google dev or samsung?
There's an option in Settings > Sound I believe that sets the volume to half, it's called "Safe Headset Volume" try disabling that and see if it fixes your issue.
where exactly is this setting? I didn't see anything about headset volume anywhere in the sound settings panel.

This is only on CM10, just FYI.
ah ok. I am running the standard JB pushed out by verizon.

Sorry about that, I just know that, that was an exact feature on CM10. I don't know why it would be happening on stock unless this is a built in option to Android that is unconfigurable on stock.
Since I tried running a JB build before, and saw this exact same issue a few months before JB was even pushed out by VZ, I'm wondering if this is a bug pretty deep in JB regardless of the build. Never had the issue with ICS.
Which volume are you talking about? Speaker, headphones, or Bluetooth? I use BT audio for music in my car, and I have no problems after calls or after notification sounds (volume dims, then rises again). However I *do* have a problem where GPS is too quiet, even when music is loud.
This is music played by the Pandora app BTW.
I notice this issue when I am listening to audio through the phone speaker. Not the greatest but it's ok. I have had the phone hooked up to external speakers and it has done the same thing. I check the volume levels in settings and everything is full. Don't have any devices for playing BT audio so I can't try that one. The notification sounds and other system sounds do seem to be at the proper levels, just not the previous playing music.
I am assuming this is a bug relating to the volume transition post-call, but I'm no developer so I'm just identifying the obvious points.
The app I am using is the DAR.fm app for recorded radio shows.
Any one else having issues when playing music? The volume gets soft/low when seeking through a track, so you have to turn the volume up. Though once a new track begins, it gets very loud. Also it seems the bass gets very soft until a new track. Anyone know of a solution? This is with headphones and/or Aux port.
Edit: Well i found a solution run the stock samsung music player first.
It seems to be 3rd party music players (or maybe just PlayerPro) that had the issues. The Darthstalker rom that had the volume boost which is what made the music volume be very loud or soft. I installed stock volume zip. which solved that, but still the bass was cutting out when seeking through tracks. If you run stock samsung music player first then 3rd party/PlayerPro music app. The bass should be fine.
*On the side note if anyone ever noticed light white noise hiss sounds during quiet periods of a song or at the end. From the searching i did today it seems like its based on the impedance of the headphones. The lower the impedance, the higher chance you'll hear slight hiss sounds.
Every AOSP/CM rom i try has this problem where when i'm playing music on my wired headphones and a notification happens or i like something on Facebook, it completely interrupts my music and makes some sound come out of the speaker. Everyone around me can hear it when this happens and the only solution i can find is turning notifications off or turning down the notification volume, where as in a stock based rom it only lowers the media volume and plays notification and doesn't interrupt can someone help me replicate this in AOSP/CM roms?
so no one?
Sorry if this has already been covered -- I couldn't find anything though.
I've been experiencing a something very annoying over the past few months.
When the phone is playing media (music, youtube, etc.) and a notification comes in with a notification sound, the media volume lowers as the notification sound plays (as expected), but the media volume doesn't return to normal after the notification sound ends. Even pushing the media volume to max leaves the actual volume a lot lower than what is normally max volume. This happens with both media playing through the phone speakers and through bluetooth audio.
The only way I found to return the media volume to normal after this happens is to restart the phone.
This basically forces me to leave the phone silent unless I want a severely limited media volume range.
Considering I haven't seen discussion about this seemingly glaring issue, I'm wondering if it's something isolated to me. Is there an app/service that I should try clearing data for to try to fix this? This happened with both oreo and pie (was hoping the update to pie would've fixed it).
Ringtones and notification tones are super-loud on my N10+ but when watching the YouTube app or video clips in my browser the sound is way lower than my old Note 8. Is this normal?
I experience this too
Yeah it's the thinner form factor to thank here. My Note 9 sounds a lot louder and fuller

I have no such problem. The sound is pretty loud both in browser and YouTube app.
I am not complaining about volume level in general, which is loud, I just said that I experience the same as op indicated, that youtube volume is lower than notifications, alarm, music, etc,
Strange because I'd say my phone is almost too[/] loud, when I put my notification & media slider on low it still sounds really loud
