Battery only charging to 98 (solved) - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've had my GN for almost a week now and every night I leave it charging and wake up to find that it not reached 100 and only 98. Is anyone else having this issue or might know how to fix it? I've also wiped my own battery stats a few times.

Battery won't charge past 98%

I've the same issue. How did you resolve?

It's not an issue it's a built in safeguard just like the nexus s

my battery has charged up to 98, 99 and 100. Either way, its a non issue. The battery is charged.

Battery only charged to 98%

I have an LTE Galaxy Nexus with the extended battery from Verizon....
When I charge my phone, it will say charged on the lock screen but when I unplug it, the battery in the status bar says 98% as does my BatteryLife widget on the homescreen.. It never has said 100%... Is this normal? Any suggestions?
I have reset battery stats in CWR when fully charged (only 98% apparently) and that didn't help. Factory resets haven't changed it either.

Probably need battery calibration app and bump charge it, then reset.
My grandma beat me down and took my nexus. Sent from a jitterbug with beats by dre.
this is normal. these batteries will charge up to 100% then drop down to 98-99 and then back up. so it's very common that you'll never see 100%.
Neo is correct. I had the same problem. I bump charged mine and it charges to 100% most of the time. But a phone only charging to ~98% does not mean there is a problem. Shutting down before 1% there might be.

I also have the extended battery, and it does the same thing. I've only seen 100 after charging in recovery.

Alright, thanks guys. I will just ignore it then.

Battery Doesn't to Charge 100%?!

I just got a Nexus and rooted, etc, using the toolkit.
I've noticed that the battery will not charge all the way to 100%, no matter how long i let it charge.
Yesterday for example, i used the phone till it died, then connected the phone to the charger over night.
This morning i turn the phone off and see that the battery is only at 92%!?
How can i fix this?!
Currently running Vicious Jell Bean v4.
Perhaps this is why there is an option to clear battery stats in clockwork, yes?

That doesn't actually do anything aside from erasing your battery graph.
Yeah from what I've read, clearing the battery stats using CWM or some other calibration app, didn't take care of the whole problem.
Any other ideas?

Does the kernel you are using have BLX?
That can be used to put a limit on how high a battery charges, maybe you changed the value by accident or it was set that way by the dev.

Have you tried doing a trickle charge?

How can i tell?
Not sure but i didn't use any other kernel except the one that came with the Vicious Jelly Bean rom.
I just noticed that you can change the mAh capacity in the "Battery Monitor Widget" by 3C.. it currently shows that capacity is 1750mAh when the stock battery states 1850mAh. Should i change the value now and drain the Battery completely, then full recharge?

Have not.
What exactly is a trickle charge?

I noticed the same thing when I was running Vicious v3, it would stop at 95%. I'm running latest bugless beast now and the issue is gone.

I think thats what is called, My phone never goes past 99% no matter how long i leave it there so now when it reaches said 99% i unplug it and re-plug it inmediately and it goes up to 100%

what the crap...
I super-wiped, deleted dalvik cache, and factory reset, and flashed the Rev' HD rom, and STILL doesnt charge past 92%?!?!
Perhaps its the "Battery Monitor Widget" from 3C and the data stored?!??
Same happened to me. And it's getting worse progressively - first it was charging to 89%, then it didn't go above 79, now I can rarely see it go over 60
Since day one my phone never got to 100%, it always stops at 99%...
My phone was able to charge to 100% within reasonable time. I've changed a few firmwares with full wipe, that didn't impact neither the ability to charge to 100% when it was able to do so nor the inability to charge fully when the problem surfaced.
I suspect that problems started after I dropped my phone (wasn't a hard drop, just a fall to a hard surface from 0.5 m, no visible damage).
Is it possible that the battery gets damaged somehow?
Same problem

Same problem here, my phone charge until 84% BUT:
I tried with a battery of my friend that was at 95% and my phone showed it 60%!
The issue is in the way that our phone measure the battery, but i already tried wipping bat stats and nothing...
I also wiped all the things and re-installed 4.2.2 and same problem
Why would you even bother eating your time wiping battery stats? It had absolutely nothing to do with charge indication.

All stock including battery ..
Thanks in advance

There must be an app in the background that's draining it

[Q] Charging Overnight

Hello!
I just bought my note ii and the phone its awesome! I just wanna ask if there is a problem charging the phone overnight?
Thanks in advance!
No. It will be fine. That what I do all the time when battery hits 1%
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
No problem. I charge every night regardless of percentage.
Although if it's like 90 or higher i just leave it til next day.
I like to make sure i have a full battery each day instead of charging as little as possible like other people

Toro Battery calibration

Is it possible to calibrate the battery upon changing roms? I noticed that in the advanced menu in cwm that there is no 'delete batterystats.bin file' like there was on my Inc2. Also the battery calibration app says its not compatible with the Toro. Suggestions/ideas?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Battery calibration is all hype really. It does more harm than good. Allow your device a few charging cycles and it should handle it's own battery statistics (unless the battery happens to be faulty, but even then it isn't a problem with the device itself) . That's what it was built to do.
I only ask because last night I noticed extreme battery drain. 35% to 10% in 7 hrs....no 4g no WiFi no GPS. I didn't even touch the phone (I was asleep). This concerns me. My last device would drain MAYBE 10% throughout the night under the same conditions

Check for rogue apps. Better battery stats app will help identify which apps are creating excessive wakelocks or keeping processes running.
