Can someone upload a file (apk) of the old market?
The first version I think?
And please tell me how to prevent it from updating itself..
I don't like the new market..
Thankyou so much.

It is not first.
First one is on android 1.5
You cannot prevent it from update that is what i know.

You are right, market is always auto-updating. No way to disable that.

You can disable the auto-update by removing marketupdater.apk from system/app or freeze it with Titanium Backup Pro.
I assume that you are rooted, and have rootexplorer or a similar utility to write to /system/app.
I have uploaded the previous market (version 2.3.4), download it from
https://www.yousendit.com/download/T2dkSXQ4R3NBNkh2bk1UQw (this link expires in a week so everyone who needs it just download away).
Extract the apk inside (I compressed it using RAR), then put it in your /system/app (overwrite the updated Vending.apk in there).
To prevent Market from updating simply rename the "marketupdater.apk" in /system/app. I renamed mine to "marketupdater.apk.bak". Doing so will have android NOT run the updater so your market will stay as it is until you rename it back.
Then reboot so system refreshed, and your market will stay at the older but faster version.
Thank you for the answers
I will hit the thanks button!!

Ok, I'm trying to make a simple change in market 2.3.2 but uve been unsuccessful, currently on calks v1.8 all I want to do is change the new market conplete install notif.
Ive edited the apk with 7zip then resigned pushed through terminal emulator but I just get rndless fcs on market any help?ty
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
just edit it and push it back to system/app/, no need to resign it if it's in there...I just did this with mine yesterday and can verify it works (using Market 2.3.2 also).
Also, be sure to uninstall any market updates first so that there nothing market related in data/app/ as this would override the modified version that you push to system/app/
hope this helps...
Ah man thanks a ton, simpler than I thought.no fcs so far

Sorry if this is out there but I am using version 10 of Miui camera and would like to upgrade to 17 to get fcc support... Anyone guide me on pushing this apk out instructions on how to get this over...i tried renaming the apk to Camera.apk and using root explorer and moving file to system/app but didn't work... Thanks!

You can use adb to pull the apk from the system, or use root explorer to copy it to the sd card, then rename it to Camera [already.apk] Then rename/delete the CM7 camera.apk. and use root explorer to copy the new one to the system app folder.
Found out had to change permissions on the file but now that it sees the new apk it just force closes when try to open.

Do you have both apps or just the one?
It just showed the one

You may want to just update the rom, unless there's some reason you're sticking with an older version. I'm on 1.5.20, FFC on the MIUI camera (not sure of the app version). MIUI is kind of like Sense in that so much of the rom-specific apps are tied into the framework, and more than the apk has to be changed to make it work... if it can be made to work. A lot of changes have been made to the ui in the last few months.
Also, the MIUI camera is named miuicamera.apk, so you may want to try that. Also try the MIUI thread or the miui-us forums. I thought I saw a flashable zip of the new camera for people on older versions, but it could be wishful thinking on your behalf.
What version are you running, and are you against updating? You can always nandroid, flash, and then restore if you don't like it.

I tried installing and copying over 10 different Vending.apk's to /system/app folder and none work!
A few older versions of markets(before WP7 look) installed and i could open them and browse apps but as soon as i push on the app button in market, try to install app or do anything else the market would crash.
I removed usual amount of unneeded apk's from /system/app folder,is there any apk's that require the market to work or it doesn't work period?
I noticed there was 4 or 5 Terminal.apk's in /system/app folder and i removed them are they needed for market to function or is it something else?I only removed the things i always remove besides Terminal.apk's.
Its a shame because other than market not working its a solid rom.

The new market posted works fine for me on EG22.
Don't think your problem is the vending.apk. You either removed somthing you shouldn't have or the version of ROM you are using has something broken in it. "Stock" odexed EG22 has no problems with the market.
I had no problem with the market in the stock deodexed rom either but I upgraded to the new market and am using it with no issues.

You probably right, time to put back some apk's and see which one is needed for market.
Did you try clearing data in the market app?
Please post the answer if you figure it out. I'm having the same problem.
Have you tried fixing permissions followed by a reboot after pushing the apk?

Never minnd,it appears that i removed apk needed fornmarket to function now they all work.
I posted a thread earlier, asking how to revert a Modded google play store to normal and barely got any real.. answers. I was wondering if I got a normal APK Google Play Store, replace the modded version in System>Apps with Root Browser and then Restore with Titanium Backup and reboot would it work? Mind if anyone would care to confirm this for me? If not then give me your way of returning to normal Google Play Store status.
[I was able to restore mine by downloading the newest version and putting it in system/apps, renaming it and then restarting. Make sure you change the permissions on the new file to make sure it will work right. You need to rename the new play store to phonesky.apk most likely. Just make sure that is what yours is called in system/app first.
yes, copy the playstore you want to use, copy it over using root explorer, copy to system/app dir, renaming the original first, then set the correct permissions, and reboot, it will work...
thank you
When you say change the permissions on the new file do you mean with Lucky Patcher? Just making sure..

Thank you thank you. I sorta figured it out with a friend if mine but this was just clarification.. I also found an option in Lucky Patcher that says "Install modded version of Google play store" as well as included a normal version of the play store

Isn't there a way to just install the settings.apk without having to reflash the whole rom?

have you look into your root folder then data/app to find setting.apk, or use titanium backup to convert back to system app
Yes, as i said in the first post i have no backup and the system/app folder doesn't contain any settings.apk. It disappeared completely. I also looked for it on the web but no one seems to have uploaded it online. This is the reason why I have posted here.
Please can anybody help me? I can't believe no one has got this phone here on xda..

If nobody can help you. Try it yourself. Download the firmware and find a way to extract the files. (can be done, cuz the phone can too)
Hi, I have linked the SecSettings.apk from stock 4.1.2 xxlsw.

Thank you very much! But i'm not missing "SecSettings.apk" i miss "Settings.apk". Don't you have one in your root folder?
There is no Settings.apk in any folders. Is your ROM definitely Stock Samsung 4.1.2?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I looked for SecSettings in my folder and i think i confused it with SecSettingsprovider..so maybe the settings app is just called secsettings (unlike many other phones) i'll try to install your apk!
I downloaded your application and it seems to be what I was looking for! But I can't install it in way! How do I install it?
Use a root explorer and copy it to /System/app and set permissions in the usual manner
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I moved the apk to system/app and set the permissions, then rebooted, but it seems that it doesn't work. I tried in many ways. I installed it from rom toolbox, from root explorer, from "system app installer", but despite every operation and installation gives me a succes message as response, nothing happens. There is the file in system app, but every attempt to open the settings fails with a force close and there is no icon in my app drawer.
Do you have the secsettings.odex in your /system/app?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No I don't have any SecSettings.odex, I only have apk, even after the reboot.
Copy both the SecSettings.apk from the previous link and the SecSettings.odex from this link, set permissions and reboot again.

It didn't work. I used every combination on this world for the permissions before rebooting (including rw-r--r-- and also rwxrwxrwx) but nothing happens, the app doesn't result to be installed. (I attached a screenshot of my file manager showing that the files actually are in the root folder)
Hmm.. I'm stumped then. I can only suggest you reflash your firmware

I just read on google news that a new update is starting to roll out for the s2..do you think updating will solve the problem? Either by using OTA (if it still works without settings) or kies..
