My mom is gonna get my Desire HD, because I'm getting my dad's iphone.
Now, I've been using MIUI for the last few months, but it has been very unstable lately and also not that easy to use.
My mom really needs an easy-to-use-rom, with that:
-stable + good battery life
-good calendar
-big buttons and font for her to see
-no maintenance needed (like I set it up for her, and she can just use it.)
What could you suggest?
Thanks in advance
Although I really dislike Sense roms, they should fit right in what you want. Try Android Revolution HD.
Take a look at this for the ROM:
[ROM][Nov 6][v3.1][Desire HD] BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid | Sense 3.5 | 2.3.5
It's stable fast and looks great
I would leave it stock. Custom roms are not for everyone.
How about you keep the DHD and give your mom the iPhone.

haha i agree with this
my mum recently got a DHD and she's using the stock sense no problem.
she explicitly told me to stay away from her phone i threatened to root it and put cyanogenmod on it but she's not keen, she's happy the way it is. so i'm with zelendel, stick to stock i think. it's built to be easy to use
and as for battery life, she barely uses it so she gets 2 days out of it easy. even though battery life isn't great with stock sense, it might not be as big of a problem

If by "couple" you mean "100,000" then yes.
OP, if you want a basic, stable ROM (aka not sense) you can check out an AOSP ROM like stock Gingerbread (I've used the one from Xboarder) or CM7.

hi i am giving my older sister my beloved EVO and need help deciding what rom i should install for her. She isnt a tech person. battery life is very important. it needs to have bloat ware removed. also a stable rom is a must as she lives a few states over and i wont be able to reflash and all that good stuff for her. thanks

After my ROM hoping days, I've stuck with the Energy ROM. It works quite nice for me, plus it looks really good.
No one said Miui....I'm shocked.
It looks like the iphone, works great, you can throw savage zen on it, and it auto updates itself.
But to each their own.
Swagged Out Rom (Sense) is pretty stable and fast.

The MikG rom would probably be your best bet for everything to work like stock.
It's based on stock, but with some tweaks to make it better and more efficient.

Man I would go with decks 1.3 or 1.3d try and see which one works better on her phone, make sure you set it up for her, and I would add launcher pro to it, set widgets and shortcuts, and theme. I would say Tommy's classic v0.0.5 final untilled the new final comes out. Its very quick and stable. Its the only sense rom that has kept my from going back to aosp.
i say go with cm7 or shooter rls 5.5 both are great roms but cm7 will give her a bit more battery life.
So what we're Reeeeally trying to say is, They're all great roms. You'll just have to try them until you find the one that suits you...(meanwhile, behind the facade of an innocent sounding phone hacker, drlzanej is underhandedly trying to create another "Flashoholic". dun,,,,dun dundun, duuun)
ODJ DUB HD BLISS! I love this rom and everything works. Also has a blue theme etc.! Just make sure and partition the sd card as directed.

I would recommend
Fresh
SOSX
Classic
MikG
Synergy
Shooter
Derp3D
The first three are sense 1.0 tweaked to the max
The second two are sense 2.1 with 3.0 widgets
The last two are 3D ports. Sense 3.0
All are fully functional and well built. All depends on what she likes.

i was just looking for the name of the rom to let him know i got it fot my girlfreind and she loves it you got down on that one diablo keep up the good work. Pink Pussycat is the best fot the wife trust me shell like it
I'm defiantly a flashaholic. That's the biggest problem. There are many ROM's out there that I've tried. I prefer a sense 3.5 ROM but it lacks 4G among other things. I put her on the MikG ROM and it seems to be running fine. I had a stock OTA on there but the phone kept getting FC's however; I recently found that she's been in Titanium Backup removing files that she has no idea interact with the OS. Silly wife, tweaks are for peeps!
Don't know if this is solved it not...but If you want sense I recommend Tommy tomatoes classic, for soso it's decks all the way...find one that works with a2sd and your set

I've owned the Desire, Desire S and Incredible S, all with 1ghz Snapdragon processors but in my opinion the One V feels more sluggish than then all, I think it might be ICS and Sense 4.0 causing it. Am I imagining this?
Despite having the same CPU, the One V has significantly less RAM than the Desire S and Incredible S (512 vs 768), so that alone may explain it feeling slower. Spec-wise, the One V is superior to the original Desire.
It is cause of the self restarter apps....which eat up ur ram..383 ram is more than enough

I agree, Its the first smart phone that I've owned that I only use as a last resort, meaning I now use the laptop to post here, twitter, facebook etc etc, I only use the phone if out and about and have no other option as its just to frustrating to use. I only paid £120 for it so can't complain really but even my ZTE Blade / Orange San Francisco was quicker and if I remember correctly it only had something like a 600Mhz processor, Sense 4.0 has killed this phone

When is the update for the DINC2 comming out anyone hear anything?
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx using Tapatalk 2
We have a thread about this, but it's admittedly long and off-topic.
In short, it's not looking good. HTC said we'd get the update in August, but it appears Verizon is holding it back. Our sister phone, the Incredible S, has been updated to ICS and even has kernel source available. On the Incredible 2 all we've got is a leaked testing build courtesy of nitsuj17. At this point, I doubt we'll see an official OTA at all, but HTC and Verizon haven't yet said they won't.
You can try a custom ROM for ICS or Jelly Bean, but without 3.0 kernel source we won't get ROMs that are fully optimized for our device (battery life, drivers, etc). I personally use Aeroevan's unofficial port of CyanogenMod 9. It mostly works, but the battery life is poor and text occasionally looks garbled (requiring a reboot). He also has a very unofficial port of CyanogenMod 10, but that's an unofficial port of a custom ROM that's still in alpha, with a hacked up Gingerbread kernel. If you use that one, don't be surprised if there are problems.
****ing Dix.

Thanks for the reply. I waited for the update but just bit the bullet and got the RAZR Maxx. Ive been thinking about using a custom rom but with previous experience i don't want to sacrifice battery life or worse having it not work at all.

CyanogenMod 7.2 is very stable and has great battery life. It's still Gingerbread, but IMO it's a much better Gingerbread experience than HTC and Verizon provide. It's available as an official download from the CyanogenMod website.
For what it's worth, CyanogenMod is by far the most popular custom ROM for Android devices.

I've been using UKB for the last week or so, and the battery life is pretty much the same as it was before I rooted.
Never tried ukb but I'm not a fan of sense. I'm running cm7 mrom. Very stable and good battery life. Cm9 and 10 are nice but battery life is understandably bad. Not sure what other non sense roms are out there.

Do us a favor and let us know where that Rom is? Our developers do an absolutely amazing job with the Inc2, no doubt about that. But they will all admit that their jobs would be many times easier and the end product better if we had an actual OTA ICS update with source released.

I've been using CM roms since my droid eris days.since having the Dinc2 been with cm7.2 and am now using MROM 1-0.2012
Am happy with this rom as stability is my number one factor when considering a custom rom. And it has some eye candy but still is smooth and fast. I am pretty vanilla with my phone i just want it to make calls, reliable sms and mms, and take good pictures. All the play stuff I do on my tablet.
Anyways my question is what are the biggest advantages/drawbacks to running and ICS or Jelly bean rom like paranoid android. Again call quality/stability and camera functionality are my number main concerns.

Well for one, no FFC as with most JB roms i've seen posted. I haven't had any issues with the call quality, it's pretty awesome. When I first flashed it i did however have an issue (that stopped on it's own) when someone would call me and the answer option would pop up, i had slide, i'd slide it answer but it would decline it. but it stopped. the pictures are fine, there are other roms with better camera quality though. i just like it for the customization of the apps mainly
