Does anyone know of anything that might suggest that there might be a possibility of getting the ICS update for the wildfire S for when it gets released?

I don't think there are any releases yet. But I hope WFS gets Ice Cream Sandwich update in Q4 of 2011, according to this website : EnGadget - Google Ice Cream Sandwich coming in Q4 2011 to smartphones and tablets alike
it is to be released in Q4 2011.
Lol. Not before 2011. HTC is slow with updates and super slow in my country -__-

I have always found HTC to be better when it comes to support and updates etc as compared to some other companies out there - I've seen rumors on different sites etc where people talk about how the ICS would only be supported by phones with dual core processors or the 1 gig processors etc - but i don't really trust such rumors - I remember when gingerbread was to be released, some thought that it would only be available to phones with 1 gig processors etc but then it came out and a lot of devices with lower hardware specs could upgrade to it without a hitch - Hopefully that happens for when the ICS comes out - but yea it might be some time (depending on the region etc) as to when the WFS might see an update released for it - and hopefully an update for WFS would be released -
I don't think so since ice cream won't need any hardware keys.
And won't support them.
It will be released probably in 2months and Samsungs nexus prime will be the first phone with it (haha will buy it ).

Yea I heard the same about ICE not supporting hardware keys - but that makes me wonder about all these new phones that are out and that have these capacitive buttons like on the WFS - don't think they can be left out of the whole update process - I am not sure but I am guessing some existing phones will see the update regardless of the capacitive buttons -
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
Yes the devs will figure a way out, I am sure the will.
The advantage of no hardware keys is the possibility to build a phone with a bigger screen without having to make it larger. (display gets the space which the hardware keys would have).

I bet u there will for all... If gingerbread is supported then ics is also available for all... But not for old device like htc wildfire, tattoo, g1 unless someone ports...

This update will remove the fragmentation in android so phones made recently wont be left out. At Google I/O they said older phones will be supported too, so the buttons will still function. There's not a good chance HTC will make ics for older phones using sense. This phone could get sense 3.5, before reaching eol, like the g2.

until an awesome dev who really want that game to work on armv6 devices we will have to wait
Try both Petravis ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.andredotcom.petravislite ) or BlockWorld ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blaschke.blockworld ).
They are minecraft's clones and they should run on ARMv6 devices (at least Petravis runs on my Blade).
Can someone tell me what minecraft is all about? I'm running miui blader so i have browser issues and I can't access PC so I'm unable to search about it.

Its a sandbox (free build) game where u use different types of blocks to build ur world and ur shelters. Blocks include wood stone etc. U have to finish building ur shelter before night because hostile monsters come out at night. If ur shelter isn't built it is weak the monsters defeat u. During the day non hostile monsters can be hunted for food. It gets more in depth as u use gates, circuits etc as the game progresses.
It's essentially based on 3D blocks it cubes

Is blockworld better or petravis better?
Sent from my Blade using XDA app
It actually depends player to player, but I find the gfx and ui of blockworld better than petravis.
Its also more similar to the original minecraft in the blocks and monsters area. U could try both, but I recommend blockworld
However, blockworld is still in beta. If ur looking for serious gaming, go for petravis

I'm not a developer or anything of the kind
but after seeing the new software on the GS3 with the S Voice and new camera app I was wondering if that was apart of the new Touchwiz 5.0 or something else?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Officially im sure none of it will be added to the s2, it will probably be an s3 exclusive. but im sure the awesome devs here can whip up a port for the stuff that doesnt depend on the hardware (if any of it depends on hardware).
I'm just curious, you think that the US varients will have the same features because I don't think the US version will have a quad core?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
they will have the same features. but weather or not they have quad core is still a mystery im pretty sure. we probably wont find out till the month of the us release.
Hi all
This is my first flagship android device so I was looking forward to playing top games such as mass effect infiltrator, dead space, nova 3 etc
To my surprise, they aren't available for my device! Considering this is the flagship android phone out at the moment what is going on here?
Will these games become available in the next few weeks as the developers roll out updates or do we need to email them to make them aware of the issue?
I live in the UK and am on o2 btw
Thanks

Since the device it's new I'd give it time, the eco system has to adapt.

Oddly Dead Space is listed as 'incompatible' on the play store... but if I restore it from my SGS2 using titanium backup it works perfectly on my GS3 (just with low res sgs2 textures)
So probably just needs EA to pull their thumb out and update their list, rather than making any actual changes to the game...
If it works with low res then they won't release it. There are loads of games I have bought for my previous phone that don't work on my 1x, pretty annoying really

The games might be available in the coming weeks as devs need to add S3 as a supported device.. plus some games are country specific. The developers can tell playstore to provide the game/app in some country and not to do so in other countries.
Pk am i missing something cos I can't find these on the store anywhere?
T-Mobile UK
Nova 3 and Asphalt 6 are both available on the market for me now. I think they must have added them last night. I guess its just a case of adding the device to the list of compatible devices, we know the phone can easily handle any of these games its just a case of the developers updating the market!
That still leaves Mass effect infiltrator, Dead Space and shadowgun THD that I can't see. Does anyone know what the best way is to make sure they get added? Can we email the developer or make requests to google play through the market?
Thanks
Now all gameloft titles are available for me at the playstore

You will NEVER see this one: it's a "Tegra3 only" game
But Shadowgun is available on market for S3
Looks like Max Payne won't be available initially for the S3, this suxsss.
Mass effect infiltrator works from my friends s2 backup but the audio is a little choppy.
I guess ea have to make improve it's compatibility with the s3. I've already emailed them on this matter.

These games are available on the web if you do a Google search for the apk.
Obviously the sources can't be promoted outrightly on xda as they are considered warez

Peggle is also not available for this handset. My titanium backup of my PAID app is also no use as it's one of those apps that just KNOWS you didn't reinstall it directly from the market.
Sad, I love Peggle.

I'd be wary, many of these apk's are repackaged with malware.

Samsung has released a list of devices that are scheduled to be updated to Jelly Bean. Missing from this list is the Captivate Glide. Oddly enough, they've chosen the Galaxy Chat (a phone that clocks in with a single-core, 850 MHz processor and a 1200 mAh battery) as the qwerty phone to update. (Indeed, all the phones to be updated are "Galaxy" phones.)
Source: The Verge
If our phone can run ICS, it can run JB, Samsung can't try to blame TouchWiz in this case like they did with the first Galaxy S when they said that the phone was in fact capable of running ICS, but not with TouchWiz, in our case, if the phone can run ICS with TouchWiz, it can run JB with TouchWiz.
So, please, Samsung, enough with the BS, and start working on JB for the Glide, I don't want to have to wait till 2013 to get the proper JB Source Code, because, that's the only thing that matters for me, the Source Code with the propietary drivers, because, let's be honest, who the f*ck wants JB with TouchWiz on top of it ? I want pure, stock, unmodded, untouched, vanilla Android.
It's no surprise, really. Doing ICS for the Glide has proven to be a hell of a lot more work than they anticipated and it's only sticking to their word that's keeping them at it.
We WILL have Jellybean ROMs of our own. There's no important kernel differences, it will come in time. Have patience, this is a ***** of a phone to develop for.
If Samsung Galaxy R gets Jelly Bean, then there's very, very good chance that we, me, and you will get to have Jelly Bean OS, just it's difficult to develop something that work, due to the difficulty of dealing with the useless digital blobs. It's like building a house without the foundation AND excepting it to stand.

Aren't updates for carrier based phones dependent on carriers (in this case AT&T or Rogers)? So Samsung won't comment on those phones. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Didn't At&T make the initial announcement last time for ICS?
That is one thing I hate about Android, the updates and not getting them.I must admit my next phone may be a nexus as those always get the updates since they are the ones Android is developed for. I may have to say by to the hardware keyboard and replace it with a Bluetooth keyboard case. Till then 2 more years with my glide and what ever little updates that intakes.

Nexus is running Android. It is the phone Google makes all its builds for. Nexus is fully customizable as well.
I know Nexus is an Android hardware, in fact I wish I can afford to have this (pretty expensive - $400 to 1,000 depending on how "fresh" it is on the market and what's inside it).

hello d man is working on a custom ics rom for us. once he has finished that project he has promised us a jelly bean custom rom as well. so dont panic, the dman is to our rescue. I can tell you if you are expecting to have an AT rom for jelly bean they will mes that one as they did with the ics rom update. So i wont install any att rom from samsung and will wait for the dman to provides his custom rom and will have no more at bloat ware and it will bea vanillia experience of android ICs and Jelly bean since he is working with pure Android code from google AOsP, and AOKPA. If i am spelling these short codes names.

Greetings.
I was switching from an MK16i, and i have to say it really worth it! The Captivate Glide beats the Xperia Pro in every aspect, except battery life (it's roughly the same).
