Is this going to help us out on the Dinc ?

We can probably rip the new sense to the roms, il have a go at it tomorrow

I'm gonna say that it's not going to help us out at all. Since AT&T is a GSM network like what the Desire HD/Z was made to run on and the Incredible is on VZW (CDMA network) it'll basically be a Z port from a different device. In addition, the Inspire doesn't support sideloading (most of the reports say that anyway), while the DesireHD/Z does so it'd be a step down and/or completely unnecessary. If the inspire was on a CDMA carrier like VZW or Sprint I'd say it's worthwhile. AT&T? noway.
I was looking though the dump, but from what I have seen so far the only thing I would use would be the new sense stuff

Does the Samsung Epic have the hardware to be Rev.B compatible?

I mean will the 3g be Rev B compatible not 4g.
UPDATE: After receiving a few emails, we just wanted to stress something. Take all of this as rumor for now until official. You should always do that! Also we stated the Evo 3D and Epic Touch 4G will work if this all pans out, but its absolutely possible many other phones will. We only can confirm those two.
We just got tips from two separate sources, so lets roll with this one. Sprints network vision press conference is scheduled for October 7th of this year, where they are reportedly going to discuss their 4G network plans going forward. What has not been rumored yet is any updates and future upgrades to their existing 3G network. We just learned from our two separate sources that Sprint plans on upgrading their existing EvDO Rev A 3G network to Rev B, enabling much faster speeds on both the up and down link. We were told to expect up to 9Mbps down and 2Mbps up, enabling them to surpass every other 3G network in the US including the “4G” networks T-Mobile and ATT like to say they have. Not all current phones support EVDO Rev B, but we do know at a minimum the Evo 3D and Epic Touch 4G both in fact have Rev B compatible chips out of the box. Lets hope this one pan’s out.
I guess I answered my own question.

I know how they are going to do that. I read a lot about they're network updates. And the way they are going to do it...just be ready for really fast speeds all around. Its going to be awhile though, don't expect much until next year though.

Yeah by next year I would have upgraded to an LTE phone anyways.
No the Epic is not Rev. B compatible.

Like the title says. I've found how to port it to Metro PCS but not to verizon. How would I go around doing that.

I don't think its possible. 2 different satellites, stuff like that
Sent from my Epic with a lil' ice cream on it
Actually its possible but unsure if its legal. Verizon has cmda and this is a cdma phone. But it wouldn't be legal to get it to work on verizon. Prepaid networks care less what you do with esn's on other phones but big red doesn't allow flashing. But I could be wrong.

The exact phone pretty much on VZ is Samsung Stratosphere.
Differences is that Stratosphere is LTE, No HD Recording, No LED for Camera, 1.3mp versus our 0.3mp and you have panorama built in, stratosphere has BT 3.0 vs 2.1(Us), 802.11 a is added for Stratosphere, TTY/TDD on stratosphere and some type of hearing aid ability and GPS to track phone E911.
Mainly as a phone its pretty much got some newer features is all
It doesn't have stable cm9, BAM!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
And the stratosphere has a 1800 capacity battery like the epic touch but it's a different size them the touch.
Sent from a CM9 powered Epic.
I'd be more interested in porting the epic touch gs2 on Verizon would make me happy camper. Don't care about 4g. Hmmm
Hello everyone, I hope to check this thread for updates (read: I'm so dumb I don't check for thread updates often *laughs*).
Anyway, as the title says, I never got 4G on my phone, even before rooting it! I obtained this phone, new, around the time Sprint (began) started adding a extra rate for all smartphones (read: all smartphones will be more expensive than "simple" phones on same plan).
I'm wondering how to get 4G on my phone that is running Cyanogenmod. I am well-versed in Linux, so if the adb shell or the bootloader is required to fix, I can follow the steps you provide. Or should I just accuse Sprint for giving me a defective phone those many, many years ago, even though I never got 4G in the first place? (since my phone is rooted atm, I doubt I could win a court case.)
I appreciate any help, even if you do not know how to fix this. (read: asking around or just reading this)

A really dumb question but are you referring to 4G LTE or wimax?

4G and wimax are the same thing if you didn't know.
And OP, if you are on an ICS Rom or a JB Rom, you will not have wimax. For all you know, you might not even have 4G service in range of where you live. I personally have never even connected to a 4G network.

i'm referring to the standard 4G pn Sprint (or whatever 4G was said to be had on "Sprint HTC Evo 4G" by Sprint)
EDIT: i'm well within the 4G area almost all day normally

From my understand wimax AND Lte use different radios hence why any of the new lte phones like the GS3 or evo are stuck on 3g network until LTE rolls out in the area you live. Also he stated he couldn't access 4g even before so he would be on a stock gb

I didn't say Wimax and LTE are the same. I'm not sure sprint has even started putting up LTE towers.
OP, try updating Radios and PRL

They are not putting up old towers just lte transmitters. They use all the same till they discontinue 3g.

And if you never have been able to get 4g then I would have brought the phone back to sprint. All their 4g phones should access it if your in the coverage zone.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
If you have had the phone for more than 6 months, which it sounds like you have, you should un-root it and take it to sprint. If that is you want 4g service. The unrooting process is generally about the same in difficulty as rooting the phone was, so if you figured that out you should be able to get it backto stock. The process is different depending on your HBoot version and how you rooted it in the first place. If you want to get your 4g fixed, post your HBoot version and root method and someone will point the way to unrooting the phone.
(to get the HBoot version, pull the battery, put it back in, hold vol down, and power on the phone. You should get into the bootloader and the HBoot version should be listed there.)
I assumed it was due to not having the 4G plan before that caused my phone to never get 4G with the plans change (read: Sprint changed plan details). I should of thought of turning it in sooner, but I was not 100% smart back then (nor will I ever be *laughs*)

When you bought your evolution didn't they tell you that you "had" to get 4g coverage for an extra ten bucks a month?

if you mean before the "smarphone charge" was told to its users (which i pay for now), then yes. otherwise no

I would bring it into a store and get it tested to see if it works after you unroot, my sprint store doesn't care about root but that might not bevl the case. Then if it really doesn't work I would ***** and tell them to look up your account to show you never used 4g and see if the will give you a comp on your account.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I never noticed any difference in speed the few times I was in California where there was 4g. I live in AZ and with sprint there is no 4g service but we still pay the fee :/
I doubt unrooting it will fully unroot it (I did edit some startup scripts since i've rooted which seemed to have no impact on my data connection (mostly for ext2 mount point on a directory "/mnt/sdcard/sd-ext" which I removed due to delayed sdcard mounting--now I use a script I manually run when I want to ... offtopic sorry >.> ), so idk if a full unroot is possible.
EDIT: *scrolls back on posts* I read that flashing someone else's radio (backed up from their device) can prevent both from using 4G at the same time. tbh, I don't know if I ever did (I hope not)
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using Tapatalk (ex-GetJar version)
*hopes this doesn't count as a double post*
Somehow I'm getting 4G atm... but it is in a place I tried before (many moons ago). Strange indeed.
What I just don't get is why it is now working. Did I really flash someone else's Radio? If so, was someone else with that "4G login credientals" always on when I tried before? If not, was Sprint lying to me on their online map for 3G/4G coverage?
EDIT: I want to leave this open to see if anyone has any idea as to why it was failing. Another strange finding is that it is a 1 of 3 bars 4G signal according to Cyanogenmod's standard indicator. ( +1 for tethering without having to pay over $100 USD total on Sprint)
Sent from my laptop without any glorious Pixel Shader or "real" Virtulization support.
I've never had wimax signal at my house. Or city.
We are listed as 4g service area for "clear" wimax broadband, but they also state that it is currently not being sold here. That tells me the switch hasn't been flipped on it yet.
There is no sprint wimax one city over but they flipped the switch on "clear" broadband wimax and it's FAST.... If I get signal (its very spotty) ... . 7.4mb down. 1.14mb up.
Edit:
I was searching the intarwebz and it looks like anything more than 2 miles from the tower is pushing it for signal.
I also have the understanding that the 10$ smartphone fee is not just for 4g, but more so the nature of the beast. We have always on, always connected/pinging data devices.

Anyone know if there's a way to get 4G working with a UK Desire HD. The Desire HD came out before 4G was available in the UK but the US version is 4G compatible so i thought perhaps the device would have the capability to use 4G.
The us version isNOT 4g compatible. They just gave it the 4g name so people will buy it. Its the same as the dhd. I'd would call it 3.5g Max.
Now to your question. The answer is simply no. The hardware is just not there
Oh right. Well that's definitely false advertising. Nevermind.
You can edit the build.prop to gain faster speeds down and up.
