blissSense? or CM7? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so far, i've tried ILWT CM7, CM7.1, and htcclay's SuperCM7... i'm currently on ILWT CM7.1
when i see "sense" i imagine lag, performance dropping off...
but blissSense is getting updated so quick... i'm thinking of flashing it....
what's your opinion? CM7? or BlissSense?

sense is a bit slower, but with some tweaks you will be fine: it`s good to enable swap and use 4ext recovery to format yout internal sdcard to ext4
...and if you install bootmanager (app) you could even have both, sense and cm7

Yea Bootmanager is really nice. Thx for Info

Questions about cm6

Ok I'm new to all of this I've only flashed one rom I'm running fresh 3.4 and I want to try out cm6.
1. Which one should I download from rom manger? 6.0 rc 1? Rc2? Or 6.1 rc1?
2. What are the differnces between cm6 and fresh besides no sense?
3. Does everything work on it besides the 4g?
4. Do I have to backup with rom manager and titanuim to go back to fresh?
I love everything about fresh exept for sense. Will I be happy with cm6?

I use 6.1 rc 1 and it is fantastic...the issues are few, the most significant one is that if you don't use the included adw launcher wallpaper change won't rake effect, although a reboot will fix that....you can't go wrong with cyanogen though..pm if you have any more questions

1. 6.1 RC1. It is fast, stable and has good battery life. I hit a 1675 Quadrant with it today so I am satisfied. Angry Birds plays very smooth as well.
2. Apples to oranges. The differences are too numerous to list.
3. Pretty much.
4. Just do a Nandroid backup.

[Q] Recommended ROM

Im currently using cyanogenmod 6.1.1 on my touch, which is amazing...but i really like to use sense based roms.. i tried CR_Mod_2.13.531.1 OTA and did darktremor app2sd but i only got 60mb free, but the phone was very laggy ..i dont need ant t-mobile apps, coz i use an unlocked phone..which sense rom is recommended among these
-GratiousSlide 1.0
-3rdSense 0.60
-CR_Mod_2.13.531.1 OTA
-HaXspresso 2.2.1..
i would like to use the rom with more free internal memory..
Please advice me on this..thank u..
It sounds like you have a slow or low quality sd card if for any reason darktremor lagged your phone. The best option for you would be to S-OFF your phone and follow the instructions for creating custom MTD partitions. There is step by step instructions in a thread by HebrewToYou in the dev section.

you should try the rc1 cm7 from cyanogenmod...haxspresso and cr mod have only about 70.mb of internal memory for your apps, gratiouslide i dont know and 3rd sense i heard its good.
Ive been using the GratiousSlide rom with apps2sd and it works like a charm. Ive got a lot of apps the need to be on the internal memory and only have about 30mb left on it and it still runs perfect. Definitely one of the best roms out there. Only thing ive noticed that doesnt work is the keyboard light, and Swype needs to be reinstalled. Id recommend it to anyone.
Try LegendtoSlide.
Its stable, has HTC Sense and is pretty decent in the speed department.

3rdSense - 1.00 w/ a2sd by DT is an awesome combo.

Fastest sense rom?

What is the fastest sense rom available? Either standard sense or sense HD.
I'm currently on Ginger villain but it has to many issues so would like to go back to 2.2.
But I really like the speed on 2.3 so would like something similar.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Use Oxygen 2.0.1. It's flawless for me. Or failing that CM7. Both use Gingerbread 2.3.3.
I prefer sense to be honest. I've tried oxygen and redux and all have issues.

Cheers, so next question. So what's quicker, sense or sense HD?

Sense HD, but I have only tried it on my DHD albeit very briefly before installing CM. I can't say what the ports are like.

I would say a normal Sense rom would be faster, don't have the data to support this though but all Sense HD rom use data2sd to even run and having all the system files on nand is faster. Heck even having all the applications on the internal memory should be faster.

Just installed insertcoin Rom and its really good so far.
Question is, is there any way to make the Rom quicker? I'm currently on A2SD.
Will D2SD be quicker?
I don't want D2Ext as I have heard that nandroid does not recognise the 2nd partition so I will not be able to do a backup.

insertcoin data++ is the fastest HD rom I have seen, or used. Need some basic knowledge to get it running (custom NAND partitions). But wow it is super smooth for me so far.

I have also heard that but I don't really want to be changing layouts due to the risks involved.

are you seriously a speed freak, what for do you need the quickest ROM in the world?
I was on redux 2.3 which had really good speed and very stable.
I've had to come back to 2.2 as I had too many issues with 2.3. So I would like a sense Rom that is similar to redux speed wise.

i think insertcoin data++ is super fast. im going to flash it in a couple of minutes.
but insertcoin 2.0.0 d2ext was the best rom i have ever tried

Cheers, I don't really want a D2ext Rom as don't seem very stable, and recovery does not recognize the 2nd partition so nandroid backup does not work.

maybe u can emulate the sense features u want with tasker (like the muting by flipping feature) and go pure gingerbread. that ought to be faster than a sense based rom.

then just try data++
but d2ext for me was even beter as a2sd
Not a simple question ...
Speed depends much on:
- your kernel (and any optimizations in the kernel)
- how much you can run from NAND
I am using a combination of tricks from here and there ...
- Sense, Froyo
- Bloatware removed ;-) (I don't use flickr, faceboo, twitter and some of the sense widgets => removed; but in itself this does not contribute to speed)
- some optimization settings running from scripts in /etc/init.d/ (sysctl, readahead increase, optimized memory settings, optimized network settings that work well on my home wireless)
- dalvik heap 48m
Then use data++ to increase your data partition, move /system/app/ to sd card and you can run everything from internal flash memory, which at the end is faster than sd-card tricks (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992176)
Finally, I have compiled my own kernel (starting from richard's source, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801435) with some additional patches from arighi's blog, see http://arighi.blogspot.com/).
I have tried many many things over the past 4 months but the above so far has resulted in an extremely fast ROM with absolutely no lags.
Any other views?

I am using InsertCoin 2.0.1 Data2Ext and it is super fast, ultra smooth and unbelieveable stable.
I have not got any FCs or data lost or whatsoever, I dunno why some people are having trouble with the Data2Ext version of the ROM.
The A2SD version is also good, fast, smooth, and stable but not as fast and smooth as the Data2Ext version.
I have been using InsertCoin since it was still called Baadnewz 1.3 and I have not used any other ROM ever since I tried it.
My ROMs before are LeeDroids, Robociks HD and Z, DeFrost, and one of the MIUI (I hate MIUIs resemblance to iPhone).
I heard/read the InsertCoin data++ is faster but I wanna stay with Data2Ext at least for now.

which rom should i use

hey there guys, just wanting some advice currently i have mine and a friend i know using RCMixHD v3.6 i think its great, if a little problematic, but my friend whos phone i rooted and installed RCMixHD v3.6 isnt really any good at all this and if problems arise he has no idea how to fix it. So what im looking for is the best rom to get him using that is trouble free, but that also gives more space for apps, IMO the only problem with these desires is the lack of space for apps.
So guys you lot are the experts, whats the best desire rom that gives more space for apps, preferably i think without partitioning the memory card. cos i think thats whats causing the problems he gets.
If You don't want to partition SD card try one of AOSP roms, but the best way to get more spare for apps is to partition SD and flash A2SD+ rom.
Go s-off and flash either Oxygen or CM7 hboot then the corresponding rom. Personally I have CM7 because I find it better. Anyway, I'd you need to, you can setup A2SD later if need be but you do get 300+ MB of storage with these hboots.
I don't like to use A2SD because for 1, I have a slow card, class 2 and second, it can really **** up.

I'd rather go with Redux or Oxygen. and trick them out with apps.
I'm using RCMix S 1.6.1 A2SD+ and it's really fast and stable. I've got lot of, ~50 apps, and phone running without any lags. Updates are very often ~1-2 in a week. It's even work on s-on phones. Only condition is sd partition, but if you want a lot of space you need to have one.
Swyped from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If you want ROM with sense i would go with Leedroid 3.0.6 (stable, fast and has App2SD out of the box). If you want ROM without sense, i would go with Cyanogenmod 7.0.3. It doesn't come with App2SD by default, but you can easily install it.
Well, maybe you should just try out?
Start with oxygen or devnull, install apps, make sure sync all to cloud.
After that try other roms, everytime you flash new rom - get your apps and settings from cloud...
That's what I do when I'm bored and wanna try a new rom....

Might want to check on that, the RCMix team are responsible for some of the best, most stable, and most regularly updated ROM's on the HD/Sense3 side so they DO know how.
I would second RCMix, problem is it's by the same guys..
i go with reflextsense 2.05 by now, and downloading.
for me it's fast n stable.
thanks to Neo..
I have used cm, oxygen, insertcoin, leedroid, but my favourite of all is Reflex S by Neo. Currently using 2.0.5, but may switch back to 2.0.2 as I prefer the newer messages app.

The best rom I've used.

I rooted my Desire I think a month ago now.
Since then I tried Modaco R26, Cyanogen 7.02, Redux, Defrost and since two days I am using F1 Cyanogen.
I like Defrost very much, it's Froyo (love the froyo white statusbar theme) and it's small and fast. I also like Redux, Gingerbread, but also small and fast.
F1 is Cyanogen based, stripped from lots of stuff that you can dl yourself from the market afterwards if you want. Very nice too.
Some odd thing (to me), I have one or two apk's, like simple clock widget, in some ROM's (Defrost) it will install in English and I will see it in English in Market too, in others (Redux and F1) it's only available in Chinese and if I install the same apk it also turns up as a Chinese version on my phone..

[Q] InsertCoin CM7 or A2SD

I'm using InsertCoin CM7 for a long time now.
But what's the difference between CM7 and A2SD? And what do you recommend me?
Greetz
CM7 version runs more parts of the system from NAND memory - means faster performance & less-to none micro-lags.
I'm using it since the first versions came out - worth a try.
Thanks for your reply.
But they say that CM7 a non-sense ROM is, but on the InsertCoin ROM they are sense..
So is still don't get it.. sorry
I think you are mistaken. The CM7 in this case is the HBOOT it is using. CM7 Hboot and Stock Hboot. For more info, http://alpharev.nl/
So cm7 is better than a2sd..
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Jeah, the perfomance is overall better
If you have a slow sd card it has its greatest advantages
Be ause the dalvik cache is on nand and this is a performance booster :-D
I am very like the CM7 rom, this rom is more stable and more spec, that's a good choice
