beatmod vs virtuous desire z - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
a noob here.
which is the most quick sense 3 rom available. At present i am using beatmod, it is amazing but the speed isnt enough inspite of swap and overclocking to 1.8g.
anyways to make it snappier?
secondly could anyone give some insight on the difference of various sense3 roms for DZ, so that i can go for the right one.
Some problems if you could help me on with beatmod..
1. sometimes, pressing the power button to wake shows up a blank screen. i have to wait or long press power button and then short press once for the lock screen to come.
2. sometimes i get a call while the screen is blank!
3.sometimes it gets draggy
4. is there any tweak to wake with trackpad button?

I wouldn't hesitate to give the Virtuous beta (trentacinque) a go if I were you.
Just do a nandroid backup and you can always restore your current configuration if you feel like it.
Just remember you have to reactivate swap once flashed. The Virtuous beta doesn't have tp wake either at this time but I think the final version will have it once released.

Currently using virtuous beta 2. Currently running quite well & stable for beta version.

I've been using runny Meade 3.5 for a couple of Weeks, no problems at all. No tp wake though.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

I use the virtuous beta2 with swap enabled and formated the internal sdcard to ext4 - running @ 1,1 ghz very stable and quite fast. No errors at all at catlog
EDIT: you can use the tp-wake from the beatmod thread, works on beatmod hybrid and on virtuous

Beatmod is marginally better
Personally having tried the latest Virtuous Affininty 1.48 and Beatmod BlissSense 3.2... i feel beatmod is smoother( enabled swap and supercharger for both) though Affinity comes with other tweaks... its a matter of choice..
For those whose experience lag even after swap and supercharger should give this a go..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411317 It worked beautifully for me..

I hate SENSE3 ROMs. MIUI is the fastest ROM Ever.

Tried Virtuous Unity (sense 3) for a couple of weeks both found it a bit laggy in times.
Now on Virtous Affinty (sense 3.5) with supercharger and swap and it runs very smooth!!
Keeping this one till the ICS is ported to the DZ

[Q] Best Gingerbread rom?

So as the topic says, what do you guys think is the best gingerbread rom out? I tried AR HD 4.0 beta3 but it was not smooth so i switched back to AR HD 3.2.
Now there a like half a dozen gingerbread roms, so which do you think is the best overall, smooth, good battery, basically a daily usable rom. It seems coredroid 4.6 is respectable, and now theres AR HD 4.0 beta4, blazingly GB by capy, cm7 versions, etc. I would test them all but It takes me hours to DL one rom. I know, crazy. My edge powered home network is capped at like 50kbs top speed. BTW i would prefer sense roms. use to love vanilla android, but now i just cant go back. That dialer alone is hideous, lol.

For me, capy's rom is quite blazingly and it has the fastest support by far. Add the latest radio to it and you'll have a top notch DHD running Gingerbread.

Desire hd, international one. The radio im using is 26.06.04.14_m.
Update to the latest BETA, 4.0 massive speed improvements according to changelog!
CM7 ftw.
Tried it, you'll love it
Yeah, I'd have to go with CM7 as well.
Try CM7 and MIUI, they are completely different from each other, I'm using MIUI personally and love it, but it's all down to personal preference really. I find I get bored of one after a few weeks then try another.
Just tried a few roms some of you mentioned, theyre all awesome. Also anyone who hasn't tried the desire s DHD port from theintelligent should give it a shot. Possibly the smoothest gingerbread rom out there. The only thing is the text is slightly larger since its a desire s port, but not a biggie imo.
guys suggest me, Android Revolution HD 4.0 β 4 or CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V4.8???
btw former is still on 2.3.2 while later is on 2.3.3...
CM7
Cause of Nosense
I rekon lees beta 3 is good try it

Gotta be cm7rc2 for me.
Not tried many others mind, i'm so happy with this one.
really stable one with Sense
If you want a really stable one with Sense then you can better flash Desire S DHD(2.3.3) then Revolution HD 4.
I don't have any experience with CoreDroid.
cm7rc3 is out - Nosense and love it
Hi @all,
I use the CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V4.8 and had a problem.
Still fixed. Sorry for posting
Sense: RHD 4.0
No-Sense: CM7 which I´m just addicted to since I came from RHD
Last week I flashed my first custom ROM. I wanted performance infront of visual changes because my lack of experience. A friend of mine told me to try out the Android Revolution HD 4.0 β 4.
Amazing ROM! It is like comparing the Playstation 1 with a Playstation 3, fast and smooth and very easy to use.
Regards rocketby.
at the moment i like this one. because of the clean gingerbread look.
[ROM] Spike Pure Gingerbread v2.0 [2.31.1400][GingerBread 2.3.3 without Sense]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002671
it runs realy stable and has an exellent standby time.
only issue gps runs only outside.
_updateted today to v2.0 gps and loction works also inside.
Theintelligent's desire s port is by far the best gingerbread sense rom atm. Followed by themed coredroid

Virtuous unity is really good. I all ways find sense rom's take a bit of time to settle in. If you use 1.26 you need to flash the DZ hboot, But its real easy

I havnt had any of above issues .you can flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121937 over unity 1.26 .i am getting better battry life and it is a bit smother. and for for rondom rebooting ,it is because on default it is clocked at 1.2 ghz
and some phones cant handle that. take it down to 1.1 or 1 ghz and it will solve the issue.
you can also flash a patch that is on the unity 1.26 thread .
Best Sense ROM
Hi guys,
I know this is a dead thread but the question has popped again. With the slew of ICS and Sense ROMs I would like to know which one is the best these days. I have tried CoreDroid and Andromadus HD but none match the speed of CM7 and ICS based ROMs (even in their beta stages).
I am not looking for an equal speed match but something that is atleast usable. All the Sense ROMs keep on failing at the launcher stage where it takes an eternity for the launcher to load when you press the HOME button.
Please let me know which Sense ROM do you guys find the best and what are your OC settings if such.
Thanks.
Android Revolution HD™ 7.0.0 is the most fluid and quick Sense ROM I've tried. I think it's so good because of the GPU rendering. I run it at 1GHz, even though it's set to 1.2GHz when you install it.

+1 on ARHD too...fast and beatiful. I've tried one week ago virtous affinity 2.05.0.
It was quite good but the battery life wasn't. so I have changed to AHRD!

Whats your favourite ROM!?

Hello guys.
The title says everything.
So.. my personal favourite is sebastian's Runny rom. Pretty smooth and fast for me
And, I have tried MIUI and CM7.
Dont really like MIUI's UI, plus CM7 looks pretty ugly to me.
Sense roms are still the best aren't they?
Sense widgets are pretty useful too!
What about your favourite roms?
Oh no, another thread which will turn into Runnymede gospels
For me anything based on Sense 1.9 will do, although I prefer Neophyte's work.

Well, I think AOSP, but Sense looks nice xD
got to be the supernova ROM from droidzone and Sibere
My favourite ROM would be the one which would hide these idiotic and useless threads.
Supernova ROM from droidzone
Definitely Leedroid 3.3.3r5, I used to flash different ones but I kept going back to leedroid, its the most stable and responsive rom, I use it with newest snq kernel and recommended radio. Its power hungry though but it doesnt put me off as long as battery lasts for more than a day with HSDPA mode on.
Till now its silky rom, very fast with al lot of apps not installed, i like that. But i will try Runnymede soon.. many people recommended it so yeah...

After the Gingerbread syndrome* I'd say it is a reason against. You decide if that is the bunch to be followed.
*The Gingerbread syndrome is severe brain trauma caused by smashing your head against your desk because Desire never received an official update.
My favourite would be Oxygen.
I like the look of AOSP (sense looks cool too though) and absolutely love its performance. This plus great compatibility and constant updates makes it my rom of choice.
Agree! Sense ROMs are cool. I really like LeeDroid ROM. Coming in a close second is RCMixHD.
My experiences with different ROMs
Hi all,
here's my experiences with different ROM's and finally my #1 ROM at the moment.
I have flashed ROMs for 3 months (so I haven't tried all of them).
I am using Desire Bravo with CM7/r2 with latest radio (32.56)
My first experience from a stock ROM was Insertcoins 1.1.2 and it was AWESOME.
Then I flashed a Honeycomb themed mod of Insertcoins ROM, since I loved it very much. However I started experiencing random freezes and crashes.
At this point first Sence 3.5 ports were out and I flashed Blissymedes ROM (v1)(kerraris version of it). It was even more awesome since it was Sence 3.5 and had all the nifty little features that one would miss in Sence 2.1. This however started to act quite unstable within a week or so.
By that time Runnymedes ROM (v1) was out so I gave it a try. Again, after a week or so stability was gone and soft reboots weren't too often.
By this point I got over my "fear" for other-than-sence ROMs and I flashed MIUI
At first it seemed awkward and a bit ugly, but since it has a lot of theming possibilities, I managed to get it to my liking. And boy this was smooth compared to any Sence ROM. Such responsiveness..
I had no problems running it and I liked it but I wanted to try another ROM that has scored high user ratings- Cyanogenmod.
So I flashed Cyanogenmod 7.1. It was okay, nothing really special and I really don't like the default AOSP looks, so I flashed MIUI back and am happily using it ever since.
Only thing I really miss, is Sence's calendar and mail widgets. Clock is nice also. No substitute widget has come close to Sences widgets but I belive that in time we will see even nicer widgets for non-sence ROMs.
I am aware that most soft reboots and freezes might be caused by bad kernel, overclocking etc and not the ROM itself, but many ROMs come with suggested kernels and have pre-set OC daemon.
Hope this sheds some light for some of you
Aosp all the way

Not sure, have tried a lot. Right now I'm on MildWild 1.5 based on Oxygen. Nice and smooth.
There are three ROMs that I really really love(d):
- Robociks expresso sense ROM. I really do miss this one. Fast, stable and beautiful.
- Coolexes AceS port. Also pretty fast, stable and great battery life.
- My current ROM: Runnymede port by seb
No matter what I try always coming back to Oxygen.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I prefer Sense ROMs too..
Runnymede AIO V2.2 Cm7r2 AD2SDX by Seb but with the Blue Glass Runny Edition v4.0 Theme that I am using just now
Prior to that I would have to say Leedroid roms are very stable & very well put together I used them for over a year with only the power drain as a concern
Cyanogenmod 7 for me. But I get tired of roms easy and have to try something else.

[Q] Which is the best ROM for DHD?

Hi all,
I am considering having my phone rooted. Which is the best rom for the DHD? I am thinking of latest ICS? Any thoughts? Is it worth it to go to ICS?
Your comments will be highy appreciated.
Many thanks,
MAC
depends what u want all these have big speed improvement from HTC stock, except for the ICS beta's atm.
if u want closest to stock rom use ARHD Sense 3.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
if you want the newer sense 3.5 go with RCMIX3D (Runny v4.0)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261721
if u want an iphone look
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970196
if u want pure android, u can go with the usual cyanogen builds
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
OR install ARHD then flash the no-sense script on the second post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840040
if u want to try Ice cream sandwich roms - !!!theyre a bit buggy atm!!!
These uses "Forced Hardware graphics acceleration" supposedly its the 3d,
i found that my phone ran faster with it unticked. i had it for several days but got
annoyed at the inability to browse internet properly.
LordClockan
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450962
or Virtuous Quattro RC2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428047
(u need to flash the kernel next to the rom download for Quattro to work wifi properly)
There isnt a really "best" rom its just what you want your phone to look like, Take your pick but ill be sticking to ARHD until ICS is smoother. Tho that doesnt mean i wont try it from time to time
Runny 4.0 is my personal fav.
Matt
Thanks a ton mate. I think I will give Runny 4 a shot!!!
I like Sense (Sense 3.5 sounds good), but I use GO Launcher EX with my own frankentheme. I use Sense Analogue Clock, a bit of HTC DIamond (remember those), Own icons, fully customised app drawer, dock, etc etc. I also use a modified Diamond wallpaper with Live wallpaper - Nexus Revamped Pro (purchased n the Market) - also fully customisable.
I have attached the wallpaper I customised and that I have been using for a long time now.
Runny for sense man...cyan for non sense..then when devs finished...
Ics for non sense
Ics and sense 3.6
Good times
Runny 4.0 is a top quality rom though

Well what I did was I tried almost all the roms from ARHD to Cyanogenmod and I am currently using MIUI ICS and am loving it. So it depends on what your needs are.

Personal favorites would be cm7 nightly build 260, blackice is fast (there is not much to say for a GUI interface but the rom is nice), or like previously stated Lord Clockan is doing some great work ICS, I have been running that for almost 2 weeks now.
I would say smartdroid is the best, this I am saying after having tried almost all the Roms (but for beta ics roms)on this forum...
If you need all "features" of phone I would say CM7 latest nightly, if not try LC:s ICS rom it's really nice...

Which rom are you using? What's your setup? Feedback? Reasons? Screenshots?
Development has slowed down a lot on our beloved G2, so it made me curious what everyone has decided to use as their daily roms.
I am using pyromod cm7. Looking to switch. I love Jellybean roms but my sipdroid calling cuts out too much on those roms. Sipdroid works perfectly on gingerbread however.

I stuck with Gen.Y VisionX R3 as it was the first one I installed and everything seems to work really well on it, and it's nice and quick. I didn't really feel like going CM as I like the Sense UI, and I always find that really simple things like calendar, contacts etc always have some sort of problem in the CM builds like the Facebook link to contacts breaking or the calendar randomly stopping syncing, but I do miss some of the extra customizability in the CM builds.
Im using blackice and it runs very well. Its 2.3.4, I love mimicry but for some reason it crashes my router. I personaly may try cm9 or the aokp rom.
I tried several ROM's but they would hang or reboot after running a day or two. Minicry even wouldn't start at all. TrickDroid is a nice Sence Rom, but it was very slow even using swap. Now I've switched to EliteMod & Kernel ICS and it runs fluently.
Unfortunately my beloved Dezire Z died last week.
Was using mimicry 1.5 for quite a time, but recently moved to Flinny's JB 4.2.2. Pretty much happy with it so far.
My DD is a fusion of gen y r3 and sense z lite. My kernel was based on virtous that I have re-configured for functionality. some of the rosie are was taken from desire x. bugs exist but nothing I cant handle and I dont intend to upload any of my work because some of it was taken from other devs work. When I started porting my rom I intended it for personal use only.
Currently I use ajhavery's Desire XZ 1.0 with APM mod (http://www.ajhavery.com/category/desire-xz/) and ckpv5's Tabbed Extended Quick Settings with battery percentage for myOnev 9.0 (here is his rom thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647052).
It is a very smooth Sense rom, the smoothest I think, just a pity that Rosie Lite can't get landscape mode.
I love tweaks and sense.
Venom ViperZ.
I tried almost all the recent roms, so far viperz is the most complete and stable one imo. With some tweaks, its fast as a fresh install of mimicry.
I ran mimicry for dd (4 months) before switching to viperz.
Flinny's CM10.1 ROMs. Once the phone gets going it runs pretty smooth for a two-year-old single-core phone.
