[Q] Handcent notification LED not working?! :( - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys!
My Handcent Notification LED does not work on any of the aosp roms - i have tried cm7.1 and GingerVillain 3.3.
Handcent LED works fine when using sense roms.
I have also tried LED me know, but it will not work
I am really frustrated with this!
Can anyone help me with this problem?!
Best regards
Andreas Anthony

Hi
I run runnymede 5.0 (Ginger 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5) on a cm7r2 and have the same issues.
I really like my Desire again The 1gb ext4 with for as2sdx is just awesome.
I miss my blue LED light though
I've tried the 70ledfix in the init.d but without success.
It seems that Handcent is not Ginger-ready.... at least the 2.3.5
led me know did not work either
Does someone has a clue?
Dres

Blue LED works fine on the different Runnymede roms i have tried. My issues are definitely caused by the aosp roms. Thanks for your reply though

Anyway: Who can help us
I read that runnymede 4.8 and 4.9 should work fine. Other Users have similar problems with runnymede 5.0 and the Handcent LED. But where is the prob?
It's not a big deal. But it should work. I loved the blue LED.
Dres

Now that this has been mentioned, I've realised that the blue led is missing on my phone since I changed to rcmix and cm7r2. Its probably in one of the settings somewhere, but if I got everything perfect how I wanted it when I changed roms, I'd never have time to use the phone!

I was a fan of handcent on 2.2 because of the blue LED. Unfortunately when I flashed CM7 I couldn't get it to work. I installed SMSpopup from the market and this has an option for the blue LED which works. I guess you could turn off the pop up in Handcent and use that instead.

no it doesn't work with SMS popup too

Seems like the issue is cm7r2. Works for me when using stock hboot.

I'm currently on cm7r2 hboot and its working here using sms pop up I mentioned before. It doesn't clink though, just stays solid.

Issues with the Handcent Notification LED
Hey! I've spent too many hours on this now, and I figured going here was a solid choice. Tried searching for an answer, but that yielded this thread, which, unfortunately didn't solve my problem.
Issue: The LED-light doesn't turn on when I receive new SMS- or MMS-messages.
I'm using Handcent. In Handcent I've configured the LED-light to be on, with a solid blue color. Testing the notification in Handcent yields the correct results - a solid, blue, glow.
Receiving either SMS- or MMS-messages doesn't trigger the LED. I get vibration, sound and the Handcent pop-up. Nothing more, nothing less.
As for HBOOT I'm using CM7r2 and the ROM I'm using is MildWild's CM 4.2.
I've been fiddling around with the CyanogenMod settings > Interface > LED notifications options for a few hours and managed to get a blinking red and a blinking green light for new Handcent events. However, selecting "use application settings" doesn't seem to patch it through to Handcent. So the settings I'm doing now (to get some sort of visual feedback) is "Force LED on" and "Red" for the LED color.
I've tried using SMS popup and LightFlow, neither of which solved my problem.
So, TL;DR. I want the solid (blue) LED notification back when receiving new SMS- and MMS-messages using Handcent, is there any way to do this?
Thanks!

Use LED for notifications CM 6.1.1

Hay there,
I use the CyanogenMod 6.1.1 on my Desire. Since I change from the stock ROM I don't get notifications over the LED (above the display, right of the htc label). Is it possible to use that LED to notify about new mails, SMS, updates and so on? And how I have to set it up.
Greetings gimbar

Hmm.. just installed but don't work.
I tried the the test function and it lights up. But when there's a real mail (K9) nothing happens.
Edit: It seems it just don't work for K9. With Calls and SMS there aren't any problems.
I'd really like an App or something like that which lights up for each notification.

[Q] Continuous Blinking LED Notification?

I'm using RMK's Virtuous Unity ROM and I'm annoyed by the fact that the green LED notification only blinks for a few minutes after the message/email arrives. I feel like it should keep blinking until the screen is turned on or the message is acknowledged. I checked it on RMK's GingerSense and it displays the same annoying behavior there. Does anyone have any advice or the MODing chops to help me out?
I am also interested in this!
I was thinking the same thing.
I think that might be some sort of default behavior on the Inc2...at least I've noticed the same thing on rooted stock 2.3.3....
Have you tried roms that are not based on sense, like miui or cynogenmod?
I'm on CM7 and I THINK the led continuously blinks. Don't quote me on that, though

I'm a fan of cm7, but the messed up compass on the AOSP ROMs is a dealbreaker for me. So I'm still hoping that someone comes up with a solution for the Sense/stock based ROMS.
OMFGB rom has continuous blinking......even when charging
gatta acknowledged it and it'll go away

maybe a spam unread email in your spam folders?!
there was a similar problem in minicm7, don't know if it helps.
MarkMRL said:
Hello everyone. I wanted to tell you that I managed to fix the random blinking leds. I did it by basically selecting random options in the advanced settings under led notification. I guess some flags don't update correctly, causing the led to always blink in random colors. By ticking and unticking everything a few times randomly, I probably triggered the random flag to update correctly, thus fixing the blinking color. Now I can select a color and have it blink normally. SO yeah, if you have this but and deleting the file didn't help, just tick and untick everything a few times, until the problem fixes itself. There is definitely some bug in the ROM regarding the led behaviour, and I think it should be tested throughly.

Nice original thought phillybizzle, thanks for joining in on the brainstorming. Alas, after turning off notifications for email (presumably taking any email sub folder issues out of the equation) and sending a txt to the device, the notification LED blinked for 5 minutes and then stopped.

LED Notification Issues

The LED notification on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus is shaky at best.
I mainly get notifications for Gmail and Google Voice texts. It seems as if it only sometimes actually work. It seems worse for the Gmail notifications, but there are many times that I pick up my phone and see that I have an email when there is no LED blinking.
I'm not sure if it just never came on or if it stops after a period of time, but what the heck is up with the LED? Why bother putting something on the phone as a feature and not having it work correctly.
I'm currently on a custom JB ROM, but it has only worked very inconsistently at stock on ICS and any of the other ROMs I've tried.
**** And yes, I know about Lightflow, but don't think we should have to use a 3rd party app to enable something that should already be working.

I am very new to my galaxy nexus but I've noticed that the LED basically only blinks for GT/whatsapp messages while for other apps/missed calls/sms it only blinks once at its very best, that's why I kind of forced myself to use lightflow. There are some custom JB roms like Liquid Jelly Bean that offer advanced LED management, you might want to try those.

I think I also read that the free version of LightFlow doesn't support Google Voice which is one of the main 2 notifications I get.
It's just very surprising that this feature of the phone works so poorly. And even more surprising that there aren't more people making noise about it.

I had the same problem, and I still think that LED notification isn't as good as what it should be...
If you have a custom JB ROM, I think your best option is to look for a CM10 rom, because in the screen settings, you can change the behaviour of the LED with different apps.

[Q] Light Flow MMS/SMS notifications

Is anyone else running 4.1.1 and Light Flow experiencing occasional problems with SMS/MMS LED notifications (stock messaging app)?
Most of the time (9 out of 10) the LED activates correctly, but the other 1 out of 10 times I get no LED for SMS/MMS. I have tried uninstalling, clearing cache/dalvik and reinstalling, but still having the problem. All other LED notifications for other applications function 100% correct.

on ICS using the CM built in LED control, It would fail to light up once every so often for SMS, so maybe it's just a common problem...
There is an issue with Lightflow and JB that the dev has yet to fix. I would send him an email just to make sure that he/she is aware of it.

Same exact thing going on for me.
Lightflow
I have been having a few issues with LightFlow, sometimes it will not show up, and other times it will be the wrong color. I have SMS/MMS set to red light always on, but often times it will flash white instead (which if I remember correctly is the default setting for the phone.
LightFlow is always running and active but sometimes it just doesn't want to cooperate.

Anyone on a stock (or non-CM/AOKP) ROM that can confirm if SMS/MMS LED notifications work 100% for them?
Lightflow still isn't FULLY optimized yet. To make it work properly, open the app, and then don't swipe it from the recent screen. I am too had this problem.
Happens to me as well. Sometimes the notification gets "stuck;" continuing to flash for no apparent reason.
Still, I would rather live through the small bugs then go back to native led notifications.

[APP] Light Flow

the developer has claimed the latest version on the play store is working for rooted phones, but I still am not having the best of success. I thought I'd start a thread and see how others are fairing.
The newest version has some improvement; being able to select different colors for different notifications and actually getting them to go off when you've pulled down the notification bar. however, it doesn't blink for me at all. When i get a text or email the corresponding light is a steady constant light if the screen is asleep. If you wake it up the light either disappears or only lights up very infrequently.
I've read some posts before the latest versions came out that some users had success getting it to work by actually turning Accessibility off. This seems to turn off the entire app for me.
anyone having better luck?
I have had the current version working correctly both on a stock TW rom, and now on CM10. The flashing lights haven't been implemented yet, however he is working on it.
The only thing I had to do on the Samsung TW rom was disable Samsung TTS in the manage apps settings. Once I set it to S3 root mode, everything worked perfectly.
I suggest you follow his blog here:http://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/1826

I have done all that including following the developers blog. I have accessibility on, only have the light flow notifications turned on, allowed SU access to light flow app, and have tinkered around with it all weekend but it still isn't working correctly. It works fine when the screen is on, but when the screen is off it gives a solid light.
Its not supposed to blink get, that's why I linked you to his blog.

A blinking light will kill the battery or at least use more juice. Dev did say he is looking into that feature tho
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Developer advises blinking uses more battery than solid notification. Go figure.
Since I installed Light Flow, whenever the screen is off the LED glows a faint green. First I disabled Light Flow and the led still glows green. I unchecked it under Accessibility and rebooted, still green. Just had to uninstall and reboot to get it to stop. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

I had that issue when I restored from an old version of light flow. The newest version that I installed straight from the Play Store works fine.
I believe to get other colors other than green, you need to be rooted and go into the app settings and check "S3 root mode" or whatever its called...
Works perfect for me.
EDIT: I think the updated app (as of today) should work whether your rooted or not.
The update version today also supports blinking in adjustable intervals.

You guys should just install cm10 on your phones, it already comes with notification light settings & it works perfectly :good:

I would agree with that almost fully except it's a pain setting up different notification sounds between e-mail and sms/mms. It's also nice to be able to have it make notifications at intervals from missed calls/sms and the light to go away eventually if you want.
But I do have to say, I'm on CM10 - Paranoid Android ROM(latest build) and light flow is working like a charm for me right now. Looks like the bugs have been worked out for the most part.
Hi guys.. I have an international S3 and since a recent Lightflow update, I regularly get lightflow causing wakelock for hours. even with no outstanding notifications. I've uninstalled, re-installed - same problem.
Happened 3 times this week. reboot fixes it.
