are there any roms with sense 3.0 or better that are for the cdma devices?
Check dev section.
been there and checked it out but not sure what roms will work with the cmda uscc version of the desire?
If it's not explictly written in the rom's thread, then it's not supported.
I was looking into this as well. It seems all support is for the GSM version of the phone, but much of the US, aside from those on AT&T and T-Mobile, use CDMA phones. I'm currently using CyanogenMod, but I'd also be interested in an upgraded Sense ROM.
There are ROMs in the dev section here that claim to have CDMA support via a CDMA patch, but I've tried all of them, and in most cases my phone will boot, but certain features won't work. I've even had everything work except for wi-fi, which is rather important. For now, I guess there's no Sense 3.0 or 3.5 support for the CDMA Desire.
Yep, Wifi, accelerometer and some other stuff isn't working. It probably never will. Thats what we get for having a phone that isn't a flagship on sprint/verizon
coolexe did a CDMA version i think called cooldroid... but it wasnt bang up to date with sense 3.0/3.5 - think it only had 2.1

Don't know if it fits here but I thought maybe the ROM developers would have an answer for this...
It seems the CDMA Hero ROMs are for some reason faster and more stable than the GSM Hero ROMs, is it true? any reason it might be like that?
The cdma cooked roms are based on a more update/complete leak. This is why more things work or work smoother.
Once the GSM official update is out you wont see any messing around converting CDMA roms to GSM phones.

isn't VillainROM 5.2 based on a CDMA leak? when you port it to GSM you loose some stability?

Yeah, a lot of 2.1 roms are based on CDMA leaks.

If any stability is lost then it will be down to the fact that its not designed for our GSM Hero phones.
Its a comparison that should not be made, compare a complete GSM ROM release or leak to a CDMA one for a fairer test. At the moment were still waiting on a GSM one for Android 2.1
Yeah I know it's not a fair comparison
But now we can already see the "April 16th" date is irrelevant and we're off to the next speculated date "end of April"
Thank god for ROM devs
OTA is on the end of april, the RUU still might be the 16th, or am i being optimistic

I think your optimistic but it's nice you can still be after all this time
Is there any way to convince the WIKI updaters for the evo4G roms to include wich ones have 4G support?
All of the Sense ROMs have 4G

not true, I've been trolling thru a ton of roms, tryign to get a good 2.2 with 4g, and all i can find is the old alpha test of cmod 6.1 wimax alpha, and a ton of sense roms dont have wimax suport =[[[
I think you're mistaken. The Sense ROMs do all have 4G as they are all based off of the stock software. The only way one wouldn't have 4G is if the dev deliberately took it out.
Now the ROMs that are based on other phones like the Z or HD, those won't have 4G.
Hello-
I was wondering if any developer would like to try porting a Sense 2.x or Sense 3.0 rom to the CDMA Desire. We don't have a single Sense rom for our phone besides the official sense 1.x RUU. I along with many owners of this phone are begging for someone to port their rom, but we have not received any help. Any time you spend on this is much appreciated and I am sure that plenty of people would be willing to donate.
Thanks!

I would love this as well, but it's not very likely to happen. I believe all the GSM Desire Sense rom's are avaliable due to a dev leak. The CDMA Desire is still only on Froyo for a Sense Kernel.
I'm trying to create an easy guide for CDMA user's since it almost needs it's own forum to make it easier for new users.
It would be nice to see sense 3.0 on our devices. I wonder if there's a way to port gsm rom on cdma device? Maybe someone can give a clue?
There have actually been some recent developments that have made the "possible." I am currently testing a version of Sense 2.1+3.0 that I have ported to the CDMA Desire with coolexe's new kernel. Some stuff isn't quite right yet (no wifi/gps/bluetooth due to kernel issues) and lack of space since I have had to port from the HTC incredible which doesn't have roms that utilize SDEXT like the Desire has to. Long story short, I have Sense 2.1 + some 3.0 elements running on my BravoC, but the data space is low (30mb after fresh install) and I have some other minor issues to work out.
wow, that would be AWESOME! I have been trying every sense 2.5 to runnymede's latest 4.0 sense rom, and have yet to have one go through. this explains it all! con247, that would be awesome man, let us know if you get it working. if you need help testing/finding bugs, i would be more than happy to help

Not so. By stock I mean what comes on the phone when you buy it brand new. Gingerbread 2.3.4 sense 2.1. If it's based on stock firmware, you should be good for GSM.
When I boot up Andybones stock or Gingerbang sense for the first time after flashing, it defaults into GSM/Global mode.
Skyraider Zeus, andyBONESTOCK, GingerBangSense (or GingerSense, although abandoned, I think) should all work. I'm sure there are others I have not run across or taken the time to look at. As previously noted, any based on the stock ROM should be good for GSM. Note: I've never needed it so I can't really confirm.

Tks... I will try
Even though its still a beta, I'd say Aeroevans CM9 Kang (2-15-2012).
Its quite smooth and runs awesome. The battery life is pretty nice too. Granted I'm and Android 4.x.x fan though.

Hi everyone. I've had my HTC One M7 TMo since it launched last year, and am considering upgrading to the M8. One big thing for me is I need WiFi Calling when visiting family in a very rural area, which seems to limit my ROM choices. I've briefly read that people are converting their TMo M8 to GPE, which opens them up to more ROMs, yes? Is there anyone working on (or have already built) a WiFi Calling app/package that can work with third party ROMs that don't have it built it?
If not, I'll probably be making the switch to Verizon or ATT, as much as I really don't want to.
Any advice?
I would love to see a GPE rom with WiFi calling enabled but I think it requires sense in order to work so we would probably never see the 2 merged.

Pardon my ignorance, but why would Sense be required? Doesn't TMo have WiFi calling on all (or at least, most) of their phones? I.e., Samsung phones that don't have Sense, etc?
I'm running SkyDragon v16.1 on my current HTC One M7, which has WiFi Calling, but it also has Sense 5.5.
You are correct they do have it on other phones like Samsung and and LG phones. T-Mobile builds it into the current operating system and makes it dependent upon that system. T-Mobile has there version of the Nexus 5 that does not have WiFi calling in it. For as long as that feature has been out I have not seen it on any ROM that's a pure android experience. For as talented as the developers are here on XDA I have not seen them put that feature into a pure android ROM. I'm with you I would love to see this happen. What version of skydragon are you running the sense version or the GPE one?

I'm running the Sense 5.5 version.
have been for almost a year now, and while it works great, I miss PA based ROMs (i.e., PAC-man). Sometimes I wish I never discovered WiFi Calling or switched to TMo, haha. I guess the devs with the knowledge of how to bundle WiFi Calling into a GPE rom are the same devs who live in an area of great coverage and never used, or need to use WiFi calling. As much as I like TMo, I'll probably be switch to Verizon for the better coverage in rural eastern KY.
Unfortunately no matter how fast a phone may be, you're limited to the network you bought it on. I also wish wifi calling was posted to AOSP, but alas it probably will never happen.
Funny thing even though I went over my data on T-Mobile, the limited speeds are still faster than what I would get on sprint 3g

This is not quite correct. Ever since the release of the 3.0+ version kernel WiFi calling has been built directly into the operating system. Prior to this it was apk based using Kinetogan.apk to run it. This was how it operated on my myTouch 4G when I ran AOSP on it.
When I was using my Galaxy S3 it was rumored to have been completed in another forum, but the method of implementation was never released.
I'm pretty sure there's still a humongous bounty out for that feature to be implemented.
With the onset of the Xperia Z3 hopefully being announced next week, I believe I will hold out on TMo for the Z3, and live with a non-pure ROM so I can have my WiFi Calling. Sucks, but there are still great non-pure ROMs, and I'm sure there will be for the Z3 as well.
