Hi, I have a sim-unlocked Orange Desire (I don't use it on Orange) with a branded 2.1 firmware, and I'd like to unbrand it with 2.2 stock firmware. Will that remove the sim-unlock that I have now?
Tnx in advance.
It shouldn't. I got an orange branded Desire from ebay on saturday morning, which was also locked to orange. I sim-unlocked it and rooted, and then flashed LeeDroid. My phone is still sim-unlocked.
Obviously I can't tell you what happens when flashing official firmware via RUU, because I haven't done that, but when flashing a custom ROM the sim-unlock remains the same. Hope this helps
If it locks it you can re use the original unlock code to unlock the phone again. If you don't have it then ask the seller you bought the phone from as they may still have it on record.

i unlocked orange branded locked desire this eve without any probs thanks god
I just can confirm this: I've got an orange.fr branded desire over ebay and it was unlocked. Flashing froyo on it and rooting it before went well. No problems at all.
Tnx guys, I'll try it and see how it goes.
Hi.
I may have to send my desire back to HTC for GPS problems. (it keeps crashing)
As It is rooted and unlocked and has had a few different custom roms on (Modaco, opendesire, defrost etc) Can I just put a RUU rom on it and that will reset it back to as factory or will they refuse to repair it?
I bought the phone on ebay but its still within the 12 months and I dont think its from a net work as it has no network logos.
You should be able to install an ruu and send it out for repairs. Make sure you create a gold card and keep it handy.

Thanks sheik. Thats what I thought. Whats a gold card
As above, you can put the original RUU on the handset and this will return it to factory state, and HTC won't know you have rooted. I did this for a warranty repair.
As for a goldcard, you only need one if your handset was network branded. Infact, I'm not even sure you need one anymore with unrEVOked now anyway?
hi
I have a desire which I have rooted and S-OFF 'd and also put 4ext recovery and alpha-rev hboot
do I need to perform more shenanigans to sim unlock? or is that covered by S-OFF ?
thanks
nat
s-off is just security off, it has no effect on ur sim.
if u search Desire Android Development theres a tool there that can unlock ur sim card. think its called "HTC Desire sim unlock" or something like that.
but for flashing roms etc, it doesnt matter if ur sim is unlocked or not.

i think its best to unlock your sim you never know when you might need to put someone elses sim in your phone & if you've gone to all the trouble of rooting it you might as well unlock the sim to then its completly under your control & its not hard lol
Hiya, call me a noob, a super noob perhaps but I was very new to the whole android custom rom experience. I was running viper custom sense rom but as it had become buggy I decided to try and revert back to stock. Following guides I read on here and saw on YouTube I ended wiping the phone and re-locking the boot loader and flashing the stock recovery however I didn't realise that there were specific ruu needed for different models. I live in the UK and have the phone on the network three so I'm assuming its sim locked to h3g. I don't know what to do (if anything) now to get my phone working as I cannot unlock the boot loader to try installing a custom rom so don't know what to do... Is this phone fixable or now a full blown brick ? Thanks Aaron
Why can't you unlock your bootloader again?
Just perform the same steps as when you first unlocked it

Hi. I have a problem with HTC M9 with stock rom. Phone without any modifications and software upgrade was made few weeks ago. Phone after start display HTC logo, few sec after I have black screen and restart. HTC support recommended me to do factory reset but I'm not sure if my lady have any data backup. So there is a question: it is possible to read any data like photos form this phone? I would be grateful for any help.
Phone details:
S-ON
Locked
Software status official
you've solved it?... without going to htc for support

you,ve solved it?
Nope. Adb is the only way if you can't access the rom. Not sure if htc allow adb in their own software but if you don't have adb debugging enabled your goosed for a backup.
You're just gonna have to bite the bullet!.

Hi , I am facing the same issue.. HTC one m9 is stuck in the boot screen, when tried to do a factory reset had an error of failed to mount cache. HTC asked me to do a RUU, but my phone is from UAE and htc.com has ruu only for US phones. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
