[Q] wifi problems on jokergen 1.0beta - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I recently modded my wildfire with jokergen 1.0beta and I really love the smoothness of cm 7.1 and the speed of laucherpro and of course the fact that laucherpro is way smaller. But I noticed that lots of time my wifi connection isn't good and it switches to data connection a lot of time, even if I am within 5m from the wifi modem... Are there fixes for that?
Hboot: 6.01.1002
Kernel:2.6.35.13 nFinity
Rom: jokergen 1.0beta
Radio: 3.35.20.10
S-off
Android 2.3.4 joker version
Clockworkmod 3.0.0.6

I guess everybody read over this topic but basicly I am using jokerdroid now instead of jokergen because of the WiFi problem. is there a way to fix this like there is a way for the gps?

Try: settings -> Wireless and networks -> wi-fi settings -> press "menu" -> advanced -> wifi suspension -> never.
Sorry but i have an italian phone and i translated from mine

if above method dosen't solve problem then reflash radio 3.35.20.10 using cmw.
download radio 3.35.20.10 from here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Wildfire:_Support_Downloads
if u get any error let me know i'll give u another method to reflash it...

hi, ive just logged on at home and the 1st 2 posts ive read have been with your solution to flash this radio from wiki ????
now this maybe the solution but xda has a thread dedicated to all things so no need to stray away onto wiki etc etc . cheers and heres 3xeno's link for everything you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318

link is provided to just download radio file...it's just same as ur link is also HAVING OPTION FOR DOWNLOADING RADIO FILE

thanks a lot guys, don't need to argue on this i'm glad there are people replying cause i'm having this issue on more roms... i'll be trying this out when i have time to switch back to jokergen... i'm on jokerdroid 4.2 now and been trying splashrom too although i'm having another issue with that, it's seems like a very promissing rom...

btw, i always thought the radio was only for phone, gps and 3G network... never knew that it was also for wifi...

Very big problem with my Desire and Wifi Connection

Hey guys,
im running a Desire with the newest Leedroid Rom. Everythings working perfect,
except the wifi network connection.
My Problem:
After i updated from branded 2.1 to 2.2 with OVA Update, i cant connect to any
encrypted wifi. I dont get an error or something, it just tries to get a ip adress
and then it says Connecting... and then it starts again from trying to get an
ip-adress and so on and so on...
The only thing thats working is to connect to an open wifi hotspot.
Things i tryed:
- Other Router, other settings, other decryption, other keys, and so on
It has to be a problem in updating process, cause with 2.1 it works and after i
update to 2.2 i cant connect to any wifi anymore.
I really need help cause i think this cant be a hardware problem, cause everything else is working.
Sry for my english, tried my best
nge89
Do a full wipe and flash leedroid again.
I have done full wipes like 100 times, also im always testing new roms,
so i was on modaco, leedroid, cyanogen and installed them many times.
So that cant be the problem
nge89
First how do you do a full wipe?
Second what is a OVA update? is it the same as OTA? And what does the update have to do with your wifi not working on leedorid? Did you OTA update form a rooted 2.1 rom?
Has wifi ever worked on 2.2? What radio are you using?
I do a full wipe with all 4 wipe options, dont know the exactly names.
Yeah sry, with OVA i mean the OTA.
No, i did a OTA Update from a branded unrooted 2.1 Desire to the branded 2.2 Froyo version. And wifi NEVER worked on any 2.2 version.
I just rooted my phone when i was on branded 2.2 version, cause i wanted to
try some of the nice roms.
In this time i never used wifi, only mobile network connection, cause i was long
time not at home and couldnt use any wifi, now im back here and trying to solve
my wifi problem.
Just checking my Radio version and i have 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2, but i dont
know why, thought i had installed a newer
Should i try the 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27?

Yes looks like 2.1 radio, try the newer but do not pull the battery during the update it will reboot twice and don't touch anything during the process. I take no responsibility for what happens and I suggest you do some searching on the radio flashing process. Also don't forget to check the md5 of the download.
Might sound a bit scary but if you follow the procedures and don't do anything stupid it should go well.
i encountered the same problem only i'm on 2.1 after downgrading from 2.2 and rom jumping. did a wipe and even tried to nand restore my original stock rom. is this a radio error?
the phone was working fine. this issue happened to me while i was trying to fix a battery drain problem, i did a dalvik + cache wipe and the battery was fixed but the wifi started doing this. my phone could still be on the 2.2 radio

Would be nice if you would post the radio version
was about to edit my post with the info, you beat me to it
Radio: 5.11.05.27
HBoot: 0.93.0001
Im now also on 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27. Still the same Problem.
That u can imagine how it looks like:
1. Wlan -> power on
2. Select my Wlan Acess Point
3. Type in my Wlan Key
4. Its says Wlan -> " The Connection is now being established"
5. Wlan -> "Authentication with "Wlan Accespoint name" "
6. Wlan -> " Not Connected"
7. Wlan -> "Scan..."
After this steps it repeats from step 4-7 again and again and nothing is happening.
nge89
Also tried with another keyboard, in another thread someone said it worked for him
with another keyboard. But not for me, still the same problem.
nge89
ok i fixed the problem and now Wifi works perfectly!
I downloaded the same version radio and flashed it again from AmonRA recovery and now the Wifi and mobile network work just fine.
I got the radio from this thread and it has the instructions on how to flash the radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464
I just flashed the radio with clockworkmod and with install zip from sdcard. Is that wrong?
You had the same problem like me?
Nge89
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
no its not wrong, thats what i did only with AmonRA. yeah from your description i had the same problem. The wifi would detect my wireless network but would refuse to connect and kept giving me "unsuccessful" errors.
The problem is, that i dont get any error.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Some one any idea?
flashing the radio again didn't fix it?
Did you try to disable any protection (wep, wpa, wpa2) on your router and then connect? Also try to disable dhcp on your router and assign static IP adress to your HTC device. I had problems connecting to wifi but after I assign static IP everything is ok.
Yeah, i can connect with disabled security. With static ip and crypted wifi it
doesnt work, i cant connect.
nge89
Then your problem most probably lies in "shaking" between HTC and router. Did you try with basic 64 bit or 128 bit wep? In many cases shaking troubles occur when one device doesn't support encryption of another. For example I had troubles connecting my windows 7 because of ****ty drivers off my wireless card. I could only use wep. Also can you check that portable wi-fi hotspot in wi-fi hotspots is disabled? And try to add your wireless manually so when you enable wi fi it should connect you automaticly without having you to enter your password.

It seems to be a known problem, but with no fix as yet. I must admit that I wouldn't have flashed the CyanogenMod way had I realised - however....
This thread is talking about the issue with a partial fix
I tried the suggested solution, but it only enabled file transfers by Bluetooth, and it is hands free and music that I need.
I will monitor the thread and hopefully something will turn up. It seems the main problem is that the required Bluetooth services are not present in the ROM.

Just confirming it also worked for me
GPS was NOT even enabled....download GPS Essentials, if you hit Satellites icon in it and see an error about the location device being disabled then you're seeing what i saw...and this may work for you
Already had 3.35.20.10
Using latest CM7
1) Reflashed it via Android Flasher
2) Turned on GPS...nothing..same old error in GPS Essentials...
3) Curse CyanogenMod for releasing a ROM with NO WARNING that it would kill your GPS...worked fine on the stock Telstra ROM
4) Turn Off Wifi as i read somewhere in the countless threads about CM and GPS failure that some people could get GPS working when Wifi was off
5) Turn GPS off and then back on...test in GPS Essentials...error gone and satellites...and im inside in a concrete two story house...got a fix in 25 seconds, 9 satellites....
6) Figure i was going to be one of those either Wifi Or GPS victims. Turn Wifi back on..test GPS...Fine
Fully working ........
Android Flasher - great app, i used it like the OP did as part of the process to root my Telstra Wildfire...makes things easier than some of the convoluted steps ive seen elsewhere to do things like install clockworkmod and to downgrade HBOOT to run revolutionary. It saved me countless steps to do HBOOT, CWM and now reflashing the radio
So still problem with GPS na Bluetooth with actually CM7?
quick question guys and dolls, Ive been having problems with my GPS also and reflashing the new radio solved that. I would just like to ask if aside from your GPS and bluetooth, will it also affect your messaging like SMS and MMS. I use to be able to get 3G, EDGE, HSDPA but now, my choices are 2G and 3G only. Forgive me for this noob question, I am and will always be a noob, but, I am always willing to learn
Thank you for your reply

[Q] GPS

Hi boys, i'm in problems again... i think u can help, or maybe try, if u want, u know.
Well, i don't remeber when, but suddenly gps stop works for me, or if it works, very very very inexact, for example, precision about 1000m... or maps says "ur location is unaivable", i'd try sense 3.5 roms, sense 3.0 roms, cm7 roms, o2 roms, now i'm with miui and still have the problem.
My phone drops accidentaly a few times, and before that, i'd try aGPS fix... but i don't know what's the problem... well, anyone have idea?
thanks!!!
PS: now with MIUI, maps says "ur loc is unaivable" and every app that uses location loop at "getting loc"... doesn't work.

I just flashed the alpharev hboot downgrader, and then the stock 2.2 PB99IMG.zip found here from some sticky. All from recovery and that's it. I read that you should use the stock 2.3 image, so that you wouldn't lose your warranty, but my phone was unbranded, so I guess it didn't matter.
So I opened the phone today and dis- and reconnected the GPS antenna cable (the cable on the left). Didn't do anything though.

[Q] Poor signal

I get very poor signal at home. When I try my SIM in my old ZTE Blade it gets a better signal. I have taken my Desire apart and cleaned up the antenna contacts as per advise here:
http://www.mobot.net/why-does-my-htc-desire-have-poor-signal
This hasnt helped at all.
Does anyone have any ideas? Would a new radio/RIL combination help?
I am running CM 7.1
Radio - 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
My rom has HTC-RIL 1.6.1062G (Apr 23 2010, 17:35:06)
Thanks,
Womble
Has that been the case with your Desire eversince or just when you used CM7? Before you mess with the radio, try the CyanogenMod_v7.2.0.1 and see if that fixes things for you.
I only moved to this house after i changed to CM7.
I would try and see if the same thing happens when you use a different rom. Try Oxygen rom and see if there is an improvement. You really dont want to mess with radio unless you are sure that's the cause. Bad roms can easily be replaced. Bad radio flash can't.
via xda app
Good idea about changing ROM, i will investigate that. Do you know what RIL is in oxygen and cm7.2?

I honestly don't know. There's a command to pull that information via adb I think but I haven't tried it yet.
I've used this app to get the RIL info. It doesn't do anything else but get the info from the rom you are currently running. I found it on XDA but it's been a long time I cant remember where.
In the terminal type:
su
getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl"
That gives you the version of RIL you have. CM7.1 has HTC-RIL 1.6.1062G (Apr 23 2010, 17:35:06), what does CM7.2 have?
I would go for the lastest radio: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 It works great with all the roms you've mentioned. Be careful flashing it, if your desire shutdowns while flashing radio you'll probably get a brick.

Yes, it didnt help at all. I dont see anyone else suffering like this. My old ZTE Blade still has better signal so I will go back to that until I can fix this or get a new phone.
OK I have managed to pin this problem down a bit more.
Occasionally the phone just loses signal and says 'No network', at this stage it says signal is -96 dbm yet I could make a call earlier when the phone had -111 dbm. I just dont understand it, what would cause this kind of behaviour?
Womble, did you ever get to the bottom of this? sounds similar to my problem, i'm pulling my hair out!
I am afraid I never did work it out. Good luck.

Mobile data connection is disconnecting when display is turned off

Hi there,
I'm having trouble with my data connection on my HTC Desire, flashed with a GB Custom ROM "RSK Special Edition Odexed".
Everytime, I switch off the display (or it turned off by display timeout), my data connection will be disconnected.
In this very similar thread here, there is the radio version named to be the problem (perhaps).
Since I'm new to this forum, I'm (first) not allowed to post in the developer thread directly and (second) not sure, if this problem is really related to this special ROM in combination with my radio version or if this is a generic problem.
Kernel-Version: 2.6.35_10_basekernel-gfb1198d-dirty / [email protected] #18
Baseband-Version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Build-Number: 1.27.1400.4 CL182513 release keys
Android-Version: 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)
HTC Sense Version: 3.5
The Radio information I wrote down before I flashed my ROM, but the version should still be the same:
Radio 5.11.05.27
Thank you very much in advance for your help and understanding.
So any help is appreciated ;-)
Kind regards
Andreas
maybe you are underclocking too much.
im running on the exact same ROM and this is happening to me as well. but i dont mind because i think it disconnects to preserve battery life hence the amazing battery life with this ROM...

In this very similar thread here, there is the radio version named to be the problem (perhaps).
Since I'm new to this forum, I'm (first) not allowed to post in the developer thread directly and (second) not sure, if this problem is really related to this special ROM in combination with my radio version or if this is a generic problem.
Kernel-Version: 2.6.35_10_basekernel-gfb1198d-dirty / [email protected] #18
Baseband-Version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Build-Number: 1.27.1400.4 CL182513 release keys
Android-Version: 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)
HTC Sense Version: 3.5
The Radio information I wrote down before I flashed my ROM, but the version should still be the same:
Radio 5.11.05.27
Thank you very much in advance for your help and understanding.
So any help is appreciated
Kind regards
Andreas

Thanks for the advice, but sleep mode is already unchecked, but 3G connection still being disconnected sometimes...
sometimes not...
I cannot see any clear pattern.
The widget on my homescreen is showing "3G on", but 3G is not active.
When I try to switch 3G on via settings menu, the menu entry is showing "3G will be switched on..." (I dont have the original english message on my german phone/system), but 3G is not starting...
That unclear pattern was the reason, why I typed on my "old" radio version.

Yes, it happened sometimes to me while I was using the rom (both issues). For the first problem I don't have a clue, but with second just go to settings/network and check mobile data and it will start working. Sometimes it just doesn't want to start mobile data from drop-down menu.

Thanks for your quick answer, but unfortunately, it wont start working...
I tried so many times over settings/networks, but the status keeps showing "3G will be switched on..." without changing to "3G active".
May I ask, what radio version do you have?
While I was using the rom it was 5.17.05.23, I think it's the latest one.

Aah, that made things clearer... I have 5.11 as written in my first posting and I think, thats a rather old version still from my stock froyo system.
Maybe I should make an update as well
Thanks
