You should have backup before doing the boot logo tweak. And just restore backup it if something goes wrong. The 2nd-init is there for a purpose that included cwm.

Since today the Defy of my Girlfriend finds the OTA Update 2.51.1.en.DE but it wont install.
After pressing Install the Device reboots and the status bar is showing for 2 seconds. Then the Installation hangs up and switches to the warning triangle.
After moving the Battery out and in it reboots normal without the Update.
The Device is rooted and has Recovery installed.
Any Ideas?
maybe you should just manually flash the en.GB Version, works well, all in german too. :=) (have it installed on my phone)
so there's no difference between using the OTA update or this version.
maybe there're some doublechecks with root and the custom recovery which makes it impossible.
why did u install root and recovery to your girlfriends phone? man - that's just bringing work ;=P
gl
cV
Ps.: just use RSDLite, works like a charm, if u really want to
Anyone can post how i can unroot my phone again? I dont want to install any other then the official ROM for EU/Germany.
can the Rom fix the flashlight problem? I have undated the flashlight fix and now my flashlight is not working properly. There is dark green light when it flashes.
sorry for my poor English..

What build are you using?
I flashed build 31 , but it was the same with previous builds too
Try a different nightly, one that you know works

Can someone tell which nightly build works fine? Thx
Some people seem to have sat around on 14.

Thank you , I will try it and post result
I tried build 14 but it same thing happens, anyone know why? When screen turns off , phone goes in airplane mode. How can I solve that?
Well let's try to narrow it down.
Do a nandroid, wipe and then flash a different rom, CM 6, CR, or even NB's new rom and just see if the same thing happens.
Or you can try flashing a fresh nightly after wiping.
I flashed CM 6 and it works perfect , but with CM7 it doesen't
Are you using Miguel's kernel? I've noticed with recent builds of cm-7 that my phone wont idle down to min setting like it should. Could cause other problems in different phones.

Don't mean to hijack a thread, but could you elaborate? I may be having the same issue. Not positive, but I'm running miguels kernel and have had significantly decreased battery life lately.

Wipe and flash RC1. Back up your user apps with titanium backup, do a factory reset wipe, and flash cm7 rc1, then boot up, restore your user apps, then go through and set all your settings again. Wiping should solve it.

Do you have the latest radio installed? If you go into settings>about phone, what is your baseband version? Should have 7.15 in there somewhere. If it says 7.09 or something else, you need to update to the latest radio, search froyo radio update in the dev section. It was posted by chiefz_reloaded.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't cm7 have a .32 kernel? .29 doesn't work anymore with wifi calling and such. If you have miguels smartass kernel, try flashing that, that's a .32 kernel. But I'm pretty sure cyanogenmod's kernel is .32 now...
Have you flashed a different kernel over cm7? Or did you just flash cm7 w/ gapps?

Hello everyone i'm stuck with "connection error or invalid mmi code" since weeks and i'm not able to recover from it i've wide data/cache and nearly done everything i even change roms to roms.Firstly when i was on stock rom then there were no problems but as soon as i flashed leaked full sbf 2.3 on my defy and then i was not able to go back to stock then someone on this forum showed me the way to go back to 2.1 then then finally using nandroid backup i came back to froyo but that rom was not happening so i flashed CM 7.1 the problem starts from here or from nandroid so i decided to go to MIUI but the problem persits. So then i fully formated my memory card and then again went to 2.1 then froyo then to galnet MIUI i thaught that the problem has gone but some time when i call my cell no from my landline then it says nothing except blip blip that means i was not recheable.then i run USSD code and then finally it says "connection error or invalid mmi code" i'm stuck guys please help what should i do now my operator is Aircel india should ithrow my sim card or my phone i'm fed up with this problem can anyone suggest me a fix.
Any Help Would Be Appreciated

can someone help me out
I am also suffering from the exact same problem. I have tried many things. Finally one thing I know official roms do not give connection error.but they Reboot.
I am right now in testing phase (current rom 2.2.2 jem-3.4.3-33-1 ) try baseband switcher
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
i've tried using baseband switcher but still the problem exits and no one working on this issue this issue is persisting from 2 years but yet it has no solution.but if u full flashed stock sbf u'll get rid of this but u can't go to custom rom then
Official sbf do fix it. But it has problems of reboots. I think their is a hardware defect
Bcoz in official reboots happen to avoid connection error.and in custom rom reboot don't happen and hence connection error
I m fed up with this problem. Going to service center tomorrow.
(Will never take Motorola Device again. Samsung galaxy series are the best)

Does going to service center solve your problem
It was a faulty device. Returned it back to Infibeam. Hopefully I will get my new replacement tomorrow.

help me with this!
Dude you can do one thing just flash it with the full stock sbf and you'll get rid of the MMI error but there will be a new problem that your phone will reboot very frequently again and again many times in a day if you are okay with this reboots again and again then its fine but if you want to get rid of this then do one thing take it to the service center i hope so they'll not go deep and fix your phone. you just say them that its crashing all the time if the odds are even then you'll get your phone fixed or else they'll say you have void you warrentty i'm gonno try this now because there is no one helping with this
ok dont know if it will work for you but it worked for me
add comma (,) in the end of the code
example:
*100*2# into *100*2#,
works for me
Same problem

GNex, CDMA, unlocked bootloader.
Just completed flashing via ADB, CWM and now it's stuck in boot animation.
Any help getting past the boot animation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Did u flash a GSM ROM on your CDMA phone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
No, it was the LTE version.
Just re-flashed factory image to see if I can get it to boot into Android.
Same problem here with ROM Android Revolution HD™ 2.1.2.
Can anyone help?
Figured out how to get back to stock
Just reinstalled ROM and in animation right now...going to give it a few before I go back to stock and call it a day.
Are you sure the ROM downloaded correctly - do the MD5's match (if they're provided)? Did you do a full wipe before installing?
edit: ok it works now, i reset every thing cache/factory blah anything. now i'm at "Searching for service..."
edit²: now i have the problem i have no services .. i come from germany is that a problem?!
edit³: okay it's CDMA why?! not both CDMA and GSM..?

Sorry if I misunderstood, but you flashed the CDMA version of Android Revolution on a GSM device?
If that's correct, you need to flash the GSM version of Android Revolution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361348

Sometimes on AOKP, it just doesn't boot. At least I had that happen like twice.. pull the battery and try again.
i flashed the CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0-GT-S5660-GalaxyICS-KANG-beta5, everything seemed to work fine, then i noticed that i wasn't getting any service at all. i then tried cyanogen 7.2 and same story. 7.2 is letting me make 911 calls unlike the ics rom.
can anyone help me pin the problem down and fix it? please and many thanks
i'm now in an endless boot cycle...
is there a guide to just to back to stock?
Flash stock rom via Odin if u want
@wiwid_colgate
Galaxy Gio S5660
#GalaxyICS
it was a supposed stock oden flash that caused me the never ending boot cycle
Odin does not reformat the /data and /cache partitions. Which would cause bootloops on a stock kernel that doesn't know how to handle ext4.
Use an RFS compatible recovery. Otherwise dd back empty RFS partitions back into place.
i had some problems with setting other launcher than adw on default. next time i'd restart the phone it got stucked at samsung logo. So i didn't set my favorite launcher on default and problems were solved. maybe it'll help.
For me the same prob. no service with CyanogenMod 9.0.0-RC0-GT-S5660-GalaxyICS-KANG-beta5 and cyanogen 7.2.
After that i flash with "S5660XXKTI - SER" (One Package-Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread stock)with odin and it runs like a train....(not like the dutch trains)
Do a full whipe before and after flashing.

lol. that sentence has to be explained for people outside of the netherlands...
our train service is well known because of not driving trains when it freezes, a bit. like -10 degrees and ''wissels'' the things that make sure a train can move from railroad to another railroad, something like this..
we know much about water and dikes, but not about trainrail.
lol

You can try another stock firmware go back to 2.2.1 Froyo or 2.3.3. Gingerbread.
And don't forget to select Wipe data/factory reset before and after flashing.
Check if everything is working,if so than flash 3.3.6.
More i really don't no.
Maybe it has to do something about the "radio" you can found out by search here on xda.
