i was told flashing a gingerbread modem on the bamboozle 1.1 will improve battery life but i cannot find anywhere on my phone on what modem i am using and not sure on how to flash a modem is there a way to do this via cwm 3x or do i have to use odin never used odin so dont know how to use it.. i used it on my galaxy tab 10.1 but bricked the device so unsure on how this works thanks in advance...
There a thread in the development section with all the modems and a link to qbkings video showing how to flash and or Odin a modem. I believe its stickied at the top but not a hundred percent sure on that. Try the eh17 modem I've had no problems with it.

I was working with the engineering department at Sprint on the data issues in my and they wanted to know my baseband version. I assumed it was EG30. However, mine says EG12 for the baseband version. I never noticed that before.
What is your baseband version?

Mine is EG30

Crap. You know what. I flashed the modem.bin in the development section a while ago. Must be an older version.
I don't think there is anyway to get back until we get the OTA or we get an official tar.... Crap

That baseband EG12 I believe is the reason my phone does not ring while in sleep mode. I odin'd it as well because someone claimed it fixed LOS. Well since then my calls do not wake the phone!
Anybody have the EG30?
The phone came with EB30, but i also flashed to EG12 with the .bin Odin file.
But not having any problems with it as far as i know. LoStKernel fixed my LOS.
is this something we still need? I know everything we've had so far has just been repacked or pieced together....if the devs wanna chime in please...just waiting to upload

Would we be able to pull the eg30 modem from it? I am on eg12 and I keep missing calls when my Screen is off.

Kk guys, uploading to megaupload now...this is definitely gonna take a while
It should be a complete phone image, writing over every partition (as is the case with all Samsung tars)...there's definitely a modem in it, but as far as pulling it, I don't know, I'm not knowledgeable enough about pulling things out of tars.
I'm going to put a link in here first before posting it up in development because I need somebody to test it in Odin. We use a pre-packaged .exe here to flash phones, so Im not able to test it with Odin (though I can't foresee it failing as the tars have always been identical to the ones we use here at xda). So when it's up, please test and let me know.
Hang tight for a while, megauploads quoting the ETA at 2 hours....
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I think it would definitely be cool to upload this for us. Easy way for everyone to flash back to factory. Might even root now if this is the correct stock file.
Actually scratch that ETA, our neighbors wifi is too slow, I'm gonna have to wait until I get home at 6. So sometime tonight

More importantly, this theoretically has the EG30 modem, something we don't have right now and no one has been able to obtain yet. Everything else we can make do with the pulled versions.
Love to have this simply as a back up as well until the next official tar is out. Thanks for when you get this up. And thanks for mirroring it Chris.

hi
im looking to find out how to tell which modem to use and if the baseband has to match the kernal version and really which modem to use.
model
sph-d710
baseband
s:d710.10 s.ek02
kernal version
2.6.35.7-sph-d710.el29-cl852097
build
starburst 1.5.12
hardware d710.10
from all the videos i watched the baseband and kernal ek or el numbers were the same. idk if they have to be or if i did somthing wrong. right now everything works but the 3g speeds are average 100kbps down and usally have 2 bars.
any ideas would be greatly appreicated
thanks
scapcom
also if you need to host a file i got a ftp just send a message for the info
You can flash any modem version you like. Kernel doesn't need to match. Mine does but that's beside the point. El 29 modem is fine IMO but some report problems with it. Try them all out to see which works best for you.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
No you can use any modem you want.....it just depends on what works best for you
.....personally I am all el29....but some people swear by the older modems.....just mix and match till you find what works best for you
Edit.....aww ya beat me to it lol

Thanks ill try them out

Its what gives the phone its signal..depending on the modem it determines if you have great signal or poor signal, and usually updates to towers.
In essence its the radio version and usually the newest the better but varies between location.

Nope flashing a rom doesn't change the modem you'll need to flash the modem via odin or a delta depending on what modem your on.

I like the hardware but this loss of service thing is annoying.
Has anyone determined if this is a software issue? Sprints network isnt great but my evo 3d fares much better.
Ive read around on the internet and I THOUGHT I read a post that mentioned a user reverting to EG30 which solved his/her problem. Only thing that isnt positive is whether the user reverted to software EG30 or baseband EG30.
Any insight into this issue, how to revert to an earlier software version? Ive tried various radios but not software. I appreciate your time.
I'm having same problem....my evo 3d had no problem with Los but my e4gt is terrible where I live.....I was told to try different modems but I tried FCO7 AND FC14 still the same.

This is a term used specifically to describe losing service while the phone says it has service...

Ok, maybe that is incorrect.
Just using it, for example sending a tweet or an email, one may send immediately. Then if I choose to refresh or send a second tweet/email right after, the transmission arrows dont light up for a while. Its like the radio is going to sleep way too fast and it takes even longer to wake up and complete the transaction. Enabling/disabling fast dormancy doesnt seem to make a difference.
Edit: under these conditions, I never get the "no signal" icon. Just seems the radio is sleepy
Well I asked around because my signal sucks but I called sprint and they said my area has really good service.....but people told me to try FCO4 and FC14 and FCO7 that might help so I did......nothing helped.
