[Q] calling problems - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

in more then 50% of the calls i'm trying to make my phone will be disconnected before the phone from the person whom i'm calling rings. the same thing happens when someone is trying to call me.
My phone is rooted en it doesn't make any difference what kind of rom I'm running.
also my phone will automatically restart when i putt in the battery. it's not posible to turn off in a normal way.
please who has any answers to the problem.
thnx in advance

What rom and radio you running?how good reception are you getting? What provider are you with?
Dont understand your last point? You can only power down the phone by pulling the battery? If thats the case then thats a problem that could be hardware if it happens on different roms
Are you sure no chance that numbers have been blacklisted?
questions,questions..........

Provider KPN Hi Netherlands
Rom at the moment miui 1.10.14
Reception is fine
And I'm sure the numbers are not blacklisted.
The battery problem is something different and not a big problem to me.

Is it possible somehow that numbers have been blacklisted? If not then the only suggestion I have is to try the recommended radio for miui, not sure what difference that would make right enough,if you say reception is fine

I'll try flashing a different radio but as I stated It makes no differents what kind of rom I'm running.
Thnx for your thoughts

Coupled with the battery issue could it be hardware?best of luck with a solution.

YES!
changing radio's did the trick!
Even when I'm inserting the battery the device does not start up automatically now.
Enjoying my DZ!

Difficulties with phone after upgrading to the new ROM

Hi folks ...
I face this problem with the phone many times a day. I can confirm it happens each time there is a failed call attempt (you couldn't make the call) ... the only way is to switch off the phone and turn it on again.
I thought it's something with RSU 1.09.00 but it happens also after downgrading to 1.08.00 ... so I think it has to do with the new ROM. It tells the signal maybe unavailable while you can see it is on the max level.
Edit: last observation ... it can receive SMS :?:
Any one faced this experience ??

Ive noticed in your screen shot the active sync is trying to connect with the internet which will prevent you phone from making the call. To give a example .... if I was downloading a file using my universal and someone tried to call me they would get my mail instead of ringing as the phone is using the internet connection however as soon as the file downloaded the phone would break the internet connection and allow the call. Hope that made sense!
I thought the service is supposed to interrupt the download if the phone rings as the primary function of the device is a telephone and secondary as a mobile computing platform.

That's what I always thought but even with my trusty old imate jam I found if I got a call as I was downloading say mail the call would not make it though, try downloading a biggish file then ring your phone number at the same time I bet it will not make it This as ALWAYS been the case btw - don't matter which rom you have. oh and this applies to gsm (2.5 gprs) only as 3G is a totally different ball game!
thx for all inputs but it happens even without activesync running ... it doesn't work again except by switching the phone off then on ... the most exciting part: u will never notice that your phone is frozen till you try to make a call  ... this will make me to go back to the old rom
More observation on this issue ... I made a hard reset and started without any problems with the phone part ... I restored a system backup and all went well ... the phone issue appeared again when I paired my BT headset with the device ... this might mean something to do with the BT stack ... I believe it happens mostly during or after using the headset :?:
Any similar experiences ?

Same Problem Here... I was going to downgrade to 1.08.00, but now I may not... Don't want to lose the speed increase, so don't want to downgrade ROM...
back again ...
I made another hard reset and staretd without any s/w installed for a week .. the phone seemed to be stable but with the same annoying BT disconnect issue ... the above issue started to appear again after installing some phone related s/w like Smart Filter and PZP ... I think the new Radio ROMs starting with 1.08 have an issue with such applications that would continously check on phone traffic or have OS hooks to catch some events ... this wasn't the case with Radio 1.02 or 1.03 ... I 'm thinking to get back to 1.03 since I got nothing from 1.08 or 1.09 except quick battery draining!!

Problem with phone functions

Hey everyone, I have a problem with my phone. I hope someone can help me out here please
the model number is ph20b1

thankss
upgrade ur radio stack and stop using whatever overclocking software u may be using.
if neither of those 2 work ur phone may be simlocked.
use itme's unlocking tool located in the forums, you can find it urself =P
good luck.
thanks mantiwhore....but i still have problems updating the radio stack because it keeps on saying there is a problem with country id...and when i tried using the unlocking tools i had problems with that also....soo yeah ma phone is still doing the same thing....hope you can help...thankssssss

My tytn freezes and does not read the sim

hello,
i've a big problem on my TYTN, when i turn on my phone,
it crash, After a few seconds, and it don't read my new SIM...
i've update my OS at the WM6, it can create some problems?
Can you help me???
sure, no problem, but you could help yourself first by being a little bit more specific, what rom, radio, etc
yes, shure
the ROM version is :3.54.258.2
DATA ROM:7/6/7
EXTROM: 3.54.258.102
I do not know the radio version, because here is no written information in the device, where i found it????
tnx
i'm gonna suggest the simplest thing first, try putting a different sim in and see if it works, and try putting ur sim into a different phone too
I've just put an other sim in to my Tytn but it don't work...
but if i put my sim in a other phone, the sim work...
Your radio version will be in 'Device Information' in settings, but more important than what version it is would be have you changed the radio at all?
I have the same problem on 1 of my 2 Hermes and I'm going to retire it from using the radio at all and take the sim out and just call it a PDA.
I think it's happened (in my case anyway) because because I upgraded my radio into the 1.54.xx.xx series and from there it's never been the same. Downgraded to the last radio Orange gave out which is 1.30.00.01. Not helped much but the damage is done I thnk.
In other threads, people who know more about the internal workings of a Hermes have theorised that for some people those 1.54.xx.xx radio versions may actually damage your radio and flashing back to a prev version may not help - or at least not repair it (may at least stop further worsening). In my case this is exactly how it's panned out. Occasionally I get a couple of days of good use from it but then (usually it sems when I need to call someone in a hurry) it either gives me 'operation failed' for the call or the sim status becomes unknown and no radio at all is possible until SR, sometimes HR.
The other Hermes never had radio upgrades, just OS, and that's how it's staying.

[Q] Unable to make/receive calls

I was given my stepsister's myTouch 3g slide after she left T-Mobile. I figured I would jump on Simple Mobile and save some cash with my new free phone, but the honeymoon quickly ended when I trying to make phone calls caused the phone to crash and reboot itself. I tried all the standard resets, but still the problem persisted. Not only that, but trying to pair the bluetooth caused the same problem.
So I figured, what the heck, might as well root the phone and see what putting a newer android will do. Incidentally, surfing the web and using any internet function is just fine.
Now, post root and post Cyanogen 6.1.1 install, the phone no longer crashes, but it doesn't always make or receive calls either. If I try to call someone, it just says "Dialing..."and nothing happens. If I call the phone, it doesn't ring, but doesn't go straight to voicemail either. Also, text messaging is not operational when this happens.
If I reboot the phone a few times, I can get calling to work again and I can be on a call with no problems. Then I hang up, try to dial again.... <silence>.
I updated the radio to the latest I could find 7.09.... didn't help. It seems like there's a hardware issue here. I did find one or two other people with this problem and after returning several phones, they were able to get back in business.
Also further leading me to believe that it's something with the radio hardware is that when calling fails, I can't go into airplane mode (it won't disable the radio) and I can't search networks ("error while searching networks").
Unfortunately, now that I'm not with T-Mobile, I guess I can't ask for a repair. Any suggestions?

So you don't have a tmobile plan? What's simple mobile? Anyway my first suggestion is to get a new sim card. Faulty sim cards can cause things like this.

Did you try what I suggested to the last guy and get a new sim card? And changing your APN's will only screw up your internet access and MMS/SMS functionality, it wouldn't affect phone calls.
Not Yet
I have not yet got a new sim card. I guess i'll update when I do that. It's for a friend of mines. Also apparently there are a lot of people having this issue (on phandroid, android forums, htc forums, and tmobile forums)..
I'll try cleaning it for now since it's all I can do tonight.
Thanks for your help. Speak soon.

[Q] Radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Is this normal? Need help
I just recently purchased the m8. I did lots of research learning everything I could before doing any modding. So today I decided to unlock my boot-loader so it was my first time getting into recovery. But when I get into recovery I see both radio and OpenDSP have "INVALID-VER-INFO" beside them. Its never been modified and I got it from t mobile and was the first to open the device. Not a second hand phone. Is this normal? I've been googling for hours and cant find any information. Its been sort of difficult getting any help in the Tmobile htc M8 help threads. If anyone can shed any information I would greatly appreciate it. I haven't noticed any thing wrong with my phone out of the box and everything about the functionality of the phone has been stellar.
if everything works as normal, why would you worry about this?
call you carriers tech support and ask them

I did that already. They advised me to get it exchanged since I'm within 14 days. Got a new one and it was fine at the store no "invalid" next to both. Got home and double checked it. New device same message again. I'm keeping this one as its running fine. But I want to know why it's saying that.
