Housing Screws - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. 1st off, I just want to say I love these forums. I've never posted but I've read a lot from here and you guys are extremely helpful! Thank you!
I was curious to know if anybody knows where I can get some T6 screws for the Incredible housing? I don't know how long the screws need to be so it's hard for me to pick from the many that are online. I'm getting ready to replace my entire phone housing.
Thanks for your help!

Found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-Droid-Incredible-Housing-Motherboard-Screws-T6-/280746554502

Thanks! I saw that earlier but the listing had ended

I know when I bought and replaced my wifes evo housing it came with the housing and motherboard screws. Also couldnt you just use the old screws or take an old one out and measure its length so you can get some from anywhere.

I guess I forgot to mention that I'm missing 2 of my screws so that plays a role lol. Any ideas?
I'm not sure the housing I'm getting comes with screws...I hope it does

bueller? anybody?

Cracked screen, anyone got a dead BA?

Well i just dropped my phone at the car wash, cracked the glass on the lcd, so...i was wondering if anyone had a dead BA that they could sell me, all i am looking to get is the top sliding half. PDASMART has the lcd itself for 225, i didnt even pay that much for the phone lol. anyways, let me know if you or anyone you know has one to sell, thank you
Hello,
do you know what LCD is inside your BA? I have digitiser / glasstops for the Sony LCM, these can be made to work with the Toppoly LCM but it is a bit awkward as you have to cut the ribbon and 'spread' it out to connect to the main ribbon.
Richard
im sorry i havent taken it apart yet as i still need it as a phone for now until i get a temp phone. i'll look around to see if i can dig up any information on that though. thanks
no one?? fluffcat, you still got your lcd??

Instructions to replace replace Evo LCD Screen

Ok dropped Evo at work, shattered the screen. Filed claim & got sent a brand new Evo but came pre-updated with 2.2. Seeing as how there was nothing wrong with my release date Evo was wondering if anyone could post some instructions or point me in the right direction on how to disassemble and replace the screen. I've tried Google with with no luck. I have a few days until I have to return the old unit and this thought popped in my head after getting discouraged by the lack of advancement on rooting 2.2. Mods sorry if I am posting in the wrong section but I'm desperate to get my root back.
Edit: Mods please delete. I think I've found a solution.

I found this: http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-evo-4g-take-apart-repair-guide.html
Gonna give it a try when I get of work tomorrow. Those pry tools look similar to the ones that came with my iPod repair kit I bought a few years back. I'll keep you guys posted on how I make out. Fingers crossed. Just hoping I don't end up with 2 broke Evo's. That site offers repair service too but you have to buy the parts from them. $99.99 for the screen and $34.99 for repair service. I wish I had found this site before I paid Asurion $100 for a replacement. Oh well, but something for folks to think about if they break their screens.
Any idea of what kind of glue to use to keep the screen down? I'm going to attempt this repair for a friend tonight, and have some gorilla glue.... I'm sure it will hold, but i fear the
expanding-ness of the glue will spread out of the black border.
Now that is a good question. The kit the sell doesn't include glue so I'm not sure. It talks about using a hairdryer to loosen it up so maybe the glue will stay put when it gets hot.

Replacing LCD/Screen

So, I had my phone sitting on my work truck and I watched as it slid and flipped over and smacked the concrete. I have a good case and have dropped it before with no repercussions but this time it just shattered the screen. No big deal, hopped on Amazon and ordered a new one for about $24.
Got here today and I eagerly took my phone apart. Followed a video and had no troubles until I got to the step of actually taking out the screen. My evo had quite a bit of adhesive and being that the screen was already shattered, I had a hell of a time getting it out. Well, I seen the LCD was all bent and messed up too but I still put the new screen in and sure enough, half my screen doesn't work.
So...if I order a LCD, take it back apart and put it in along with the new screen everything should work fine again, correct? Also, do I need to order those glue strips or is there something else I can use to hold it all in place. Sorry if this seems stupid but I'm just a little irritated that I ordered one piece when I really needed another as well and I'm just at the point where I feel like buying a new one off Craigslist will be easier. Thanks in advance
Sometimes buying a new one can be better/easier but if you're capable of replacing it yourself why not lol. Just make sure you order the right part for your particular evo......

first, it's hell to get the digitizer (the part you actually touch) attached back on to the rest of the screen. it would be better and easier to buy the whole lcd/digitizer front for the phone.
BUT MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE RIGHT LCD SCREEN: theres two different kinds, narrow strip, and long strip.

Anyone know if theres an easy way to tell which kind of strip you have without having to open up the phone?

I need the same answer but I guess the answer is no
I don't know if there is a way but opening up the phone to find out is really easy. I'd you go to ifixit.com they have the instructions.

could you link to the Ifixit article?
Also, does anyone know where to get the best deal on an lcd/digitizer once I find out which one I need?

[Q] Rear housing replacement

Hey guys, how's it going?
After 6 months with the phone, I finally dropped it today. Luckly, it only damaged the chrome outer bezel. The thing is, I can't stand the phone to stay like this, so I'd like to replace the rear housing, which includes the chrome part.
I've seem some videos on how to replace it and it seems pretty easy and straight forward. But one thing got me in doubt.
From what I understand and correct me if I'm wrong, the rear housing includes the Wifi, phone and GPS antennas. So:
1) Does the replacement unit include new antennas? Or do I have to get them from my old housing?
2) If so, how hard is this antenna replacement?
If it's too hard and dangerous, and I were to send the phone to a repair center, do you think they'd change the rear housing for purely cosmetic purposes? For how much?
Thanks for you support and answers!
The rear housing usually comes with all the antenna, it's as simple as taking out the existing housing and replacing it with the new then just screwing it back. You can check out http://www.cnn.cn you can purchase it here for as cheap as 10bucks and it's good quality. And don't worry its easy.

This is good to know.
I went to a Samsung service center today and they offered to replace the housing for U$ 90,00... Thankfully I said I'd think about it. Now I'm going to order a replacement online, I've seen videos and it's really easy to swap.
Thanks for the reply. :good:

Before you do anything, i just wanted to point out something important here. Getting your housing replaced, either by yourself or through a phone shop, other than the official Samsung repair center will completely void your warranty. I guess that is something to think about especially when you have all these cases of Sudden Death Syndromes popping around randomly. Its one of the reason ive been holding off from replacing my housing even though i too have this ugly dent on the bezel. Either way, its just a heads up, and good luck with your decision.

Part Query - top black piece?

Does anyone know what part is required to replace the back plastic part at top of phone which has the power button within it please? It's cracked at the left most end.

Have you tried e-bay? I've seen people buy the speaker covers there. Maybe someone had that part as well.
How the hell did it crack. Just wondering so I don't do it.
EDIT - just looked on ebay and it appears that if you buy a new back cover the picture looks as if the part you need is included. I'd ask the seller first though.
Just search HTC One M8 parts.

Yeah I since found out that's the part I need after reading the iFixit guide.
I'm not sure exactly how I did it, I've dropped it once and although it was in a case, the impact must have been enough to crack the plastic.
The fix doesn't look too hard actually. Hardest part is warming up the glue holding the speaker grilles. Rest is simple guitar pick prising apart.

Chris, That sucks. I dropped my phone the 3rd day I had it, without a case on and the only thing that happened is some very small scratches on the edge bezel. I would have never noticed them if I hadn't have been building a model (hobby) and was painting with my detail magnification glasses on and my phone rang. I looked at iFixit before I decided on the M8 because this is the first phone without a removable battery and I wanted to know how hard it would be to open it up and replace stuff. They make is sound so hard but I think it doesn't look that hard after getting the glue soft.
Good luck and let us know how the repair goes. :good:
