Attached is the Keyboard from the Samsung Galaxy S2 Philipino edition, which works much better than any other keyboard I have seen yet. This keyboard is very similar to the iOS keyboard as Apple does not have the same patents there - so I hear.
Anyway, I cannot get it installed on the Epic Touch as it tries to replace the original and then says Application not installed.
1. Can any developer rename the program to something else? How about "Sammy Keyboard"?
2. Can any developer get this to install correctly on the Epic Touch? Not sure why it doesn't, but hopefully someone much smarter than me can figure it out.
I attached the keyboard and 2 other files from the OEM ROM that may or may not have anything to do with the keyboard.
Thanks in advance and I hope someone can figure this out.
Here is a video of the keyboard in action...should be around the 4 minute mark.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGEZUlEGeEE
Would love to see this working, although ShapeWriter has been doing well since I recently installed it to replace Swype.
+1. I'd be willing to donate a buck or two to a dev willing to do this!

I was wondering if this was around or even possible for the Hero of even Android.

i downloaded better keyboard, and downloaded the see thru keyboard skin... works fine on my hero... =]
where did you download it? Can you post the link please?
It should be available through the Market application.
the only keyboards I've been able to find in the market aren't full screen keyboard: A keyboard that will cover the entire screen but be opaque so I can see what I'm typing underneath.
I think the only you're talking about, because you gave no name for the application, is the Better keyboard. It's cool and all, but not what I'm looking for.
Here are a few links that might help.

Reading is an art form these days .
Still, the OP of this topic probably asks for a 'fullscreen see-through' keyboard app / skin.
Little side note from me: Why would you want to install Better Keyboard on a Hero? Something wrong with the HTC_IME?
thank you for clarifying dipje. Does anyone know if it's even possible?
Hello everyone,
I'm not sure if this is where I would post or under the Apps section, but I was wondering if anyone can spare 1 Swype installation for my EVO, I apparently ran out because of all the wiping and such and I was ignorant that there was a limit in the installations. i already sent them an email two weeks ago to reset it, but still no reply.
I really miss Swype and I was wondering if anyone can spare me 1, please PM me, I will be immensely happier with my EVO and your gratitude that's all I want :C.
This is by no means anything else, just need Swype. Thanks everyone .

Copy it to the root folder of your SD card. Navigate to it and open it with a file manager like Astro. It should prompt you to install.
Thank you so much!
The installation worked, but Swype doesn't do anything, now I can't write or text
It says the screen size is not the same. I think its the Swype installer saying its a Galaxy
Try this file. I had the same issue, plus expiring versions... I found this one in another post and it may by-pass the issue of expiring. Give it a shot.

SlideIT keyboard
I hear everyone talking about Swype, which isn’t even out yet when I’ve been using SlideIT for a while now and LOVE it. I’ve used the Swype beta and I gotta say, SlideIT just works better. Its dictionary is better, it’s word prediction is better and it’s way of choosing alternate words is better. Instead of forcing you to choose from a popup menu, it makes its best guess then gives you an unobtrusive menu of alternate words to choose from in case it got it wrong. Please, try SlideIT, it’s a superior keyboad and it’s already available.
with mic?
is this the new swype version with the microphone by chance??
The ONLY thing that makes me even think about buying a wildly overpriced Windows 8 tablet is the ability to use OneNote. The sad part is that S-Note is just so damned close to being a OneNote killer app but it seems like Samsung got 80% of the way there and JUST QUIT.
Let's start with the unreadable .snb standard. As far as I can tell, even .snb readers for Windows can't read it. Unless you export your S-Notes as .pdf''s you are pretty much screwed being able to view them on your Desktop. So why would Samsung choose such an obscure standard with zero compatibility? Next can we talk about Templates? How hard would it be for Samsung to include a Template Editor so the grown-ups can create and save their own Templates instead of being forced to use the few Samsung thinks we all want? How about being able to create and save typing styles? How about being able to restart voice recording on a previously created S-Note? How about being able to embed a recording within a specific spot in your S-Note? If I can embed a video why can't I embed a recording? One of the best things about OneNote is being able to search on written text. Samsung, any ideas on that? How about being able to place a typing cursor just by clicking the screen where I want it? How about automatically typing around pictures instead of over them? How about being able too cut and move blocks of text?
So much about S-Notes just doesn't seen done to me, but as far as I can tell, those crazy Koreans at Samsung think it's perfect as is.
Please Samsung, I don't want to buy a Windows 8 tablet but you are forcing my hand.
** I am hoping that the new Awesome Note app coming with the Note 8.0 will solve some of these issues assuming we'll be able port it to our Note 2.

Why don't u do the work and forward the post that you wrote here to Samsung ... you have a better chance of it happening i if you were to send your recommendations to Samsung ... Not many on here work for Samsung I am guessing ....
Maybe they just don't have creative people on this app. ... maybe they would give you something as a reward. .. never know until you try ... or you could learn Java code your own app and instant profit

Awesome idea! Please give me the personal email of the Head of S-Note Development at Samsung and I'll get right on that. While you are at it, link me to the Samsung Support Forums on their website - oh that's right, Samsung doesn't have Support Forums.
I'm so happy a super-connected guy like you came along to solve the problem.
Also, I really should have bought a Java book and rewritten the entire S-Notes app myself as you suggest. I'm so dumb. I could have made millions!

Why don't you do a search finding samsungs emails isnt that hard. Or you could just keep stomping your feet and crying about it. That's really productive. samsungs forum's aren't on samsung.com but Google can tell you how to find em if you actually, you know, searched.
Edit: just cuz I'm feeling nice http://developer.samsung.com/forum/en took all of 2 seconds searching "samsung + forum" on teh googlez

Is it possible to remove the special accented characters from the stock (4.3) keyboard? I didn't have this issue before flashing 4.3, but now almost every time I try to do a long-press when swyping I end up with a special accented character instead of the , or ( or : or @, etc. I thought that if I removed the language (like Spanish) they would likely go away, but I can't even find a way to even do that through settings. I am rooted and really not afraid to delete stuff via a file manager if someone can point me to the right files.
I'd love to know how to do this too. The special characters are killing me. I don't mind the characters like ! and @, but I hate the others because, like you, I keep accidentally switching to them.
Thanks for the confirmation of sanity. I was thinking I was the only one. Never did figure out how to do it but it's still bugging the crap out of me.
Me three! Anyone know how to do this?

Never thought to search for the reverse (adding languages) as a solution, but it might just work. I'm on vacation and don't want to hose my phone, but I'll try it when I get home this weekend.
Delved into the suggested solution above pretty deep, but couldn't get those characters to go away even after removing what I believe was Spanish languages/characters from that configuration file. I rebooted with each change, but still no go. I suspect the problem is that we're not actually using the stock Samsung keyboard config, but are using some sort of add-on SwiftKey keyboard that is built in to the stock ROM. I think the config file that needs the edited has something to do with SwiftKey instead of the OS. I don't really like Swype so I might try the paid version of SwiftKey to see if it has a way to remove those chars but have a similar keyboard layout that I'm used to. Hopefully they won't even be there by default.
I have the same problem. I try to end a question with? But end up with ñ

Yesterday I received the 104.88 MB firmware update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 ( GT-N7100) on Android 4.4.2. After updating my device I am facing a very annoying bug from Samsung Keyboard.
When I type something the keyboard predicts the word for example if I am typing 'Hel' it will predict the word as 'Hello'( which is great) but when you click on the predicted text it gives you two spaces automatically instead of one. It continues for each and every predictive text. If I turn off the auto spacing feature, no space is provided. So it is either zero or two but not one.
It is very annoying to keep deleting extra spaces between words of every sentence, especially when typing an email or tweeting where characters are limited.
It looks like this when you type with and without predictive text and auto spacing features.
Please help.
This is not a solution per se to your issue. But I would suggest that you ditch the Samsung keyboard and install SwiftKey from play store. It is now free. And much better than any other keyboard that I have tried. Give it a try.

I am also facing the same issue in my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100).
Waiting for an answer/solution................
---------- Post added at 11:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ----------
Swift Key works fine and does not show auto spacing issues. But I don't want to ditch Samsung keyboard because Swift Key app doesn't support S Pen Handwriting mode but Samsung keyboard does it well. And I use both Keyboard and S Pen Handwriting mode depending upon situation (for example: I use handwriting mode when sitting comfortably and Keyboard+Prediction when I am on travel/commute).
Please someone help me and others having same issue. How can we get rid of this two space prediction issue on Samsung keyboard on SG Note 2?

I just checked on my phone. The double spacing bug is indeed present in Samsung keyboard. We can only wait for an update from Samsung to resolve this issue. On the plus side, Swype keyboard is recognizing S-Pen input. So if you guys want you could try it. I am quite happy with SwiftKey. I mostly use flow input and SwiftKey is perfect for that.
Thanks for the reply.
I agree with you that Swype keyboard recognize S-Pen input if you use typing/swiping (flow input). But I don't think it is compatible for Handwriting mode with S-Pen.
As you mentioned, I am waiting (probably there are more like me) for an update from Samsung to resolve this double spacing bug in Samsung keyboard. Let us hope they will fix this bug soon.

Any way we can make Samsung know about this?
I guys, I've just registered for this topic as I am facing the same problem. Since the last update (which I recall it was about a week ago) I am having the 2 spaces problem after I pick any of the suggested words. Now, is there any way we can make Samsung know about this? Like a bug report or something similar. I don't want to leave Samsung's keyboard because it worked just fine and I am used to it, plus it supports handwriting and well, I am just used to how letters are organised and the distance between them, I type fluently.
Any help will be welcomed, thank you guys!
I googled and found that there is a way and someone has already reported this bug/issue in Samsung Developers Forum.
Let us wait for a response from Samsung.

Am experiencing the same double spacing issue with predicted text on the Samsung keyboard. Input using the Continuous Input function is fine though. Only touch type is messed up.
Build number: KOT49H.N7100XXUFNI4. This update was only about 84MB as opposed to the 104 MB update the OP received. Not sure of the release date but I only installed it yesterday.
Have installed SwiftKey to use in the meantime.
This topic creator, i.e. me, is the one who has reported in the Samsung Developer forum but still no response. I think it requires a 'famous' tech blogger to take this issue so that Samsung notices the problem. BendGate , GapGate but Note 2 users have SpaceGate !
Oh! I see, so it is you who reported this issue in Samsung Developer forum. Thanks for the information. Also thanks for posting it on Samsung Developer Forum, let us hope someone from Samsung Developers will notice it and do the needful. :fingers-crossed:
Like you and me there are a lot of Note 2 users who are waiting for a response from Samsung on this problem.
Let us hope and wait for a positive response from Samsung on this problem. :fingers-crossed:

Just downloaded the update 3 days ago, which introduced the issue on my Note 2 device. What is amazing, here we are several months since the pronlem has been reported to Samsung, and the issue still exists. Anyway to backout the last update?
