Maybe a silly question but made a backup of the blend rom using the blend kernel, then installed doomlords kernel and the cyangenmod rom. If I restore my backup does it restore the kernel and rom or just the rom?

i dont think you can restore kernel by restoring backup. Only backup of roms can be made.
Ok cheers, so will probably have to flash blend kernel first then restore backup then.

In ROM Manager, Virtuous has the stock kernel available for download and install.

Will a nandroid backup include the stock kernel?
Or will that need to be reinstalled from a download, even after restoring via nandroid?

Yes........
Thanks... won't worry about doing any extra kind of backup then.
Im running 2.3.3 on firmware 3.0, with doomlord's kernel.
I managed to make a nandroid with the cwm recovery built in the kernel, a gigantic 900mb file was created..
From what I understand the nandroid will help to restore the phone back to the backup I created ..
So, here's my question.
If I flash cm7 rom ( using stock rom now) and I don't like it, I can restore back to stock via nandroid? Also, when I flash a different rom will the kernel be affected?
Thanks!

I made one with 2.3.3 R800at AT&T stock FW and it was less than 300MB and then I made one of the 2.3.4 R800a generic North American FW and it was over 900MB. I can't figure why. The Bruce Lee game it includes isn't nearly that large and it also gives up more than it adds (no SIMS3 or TBloxx My City).
On our PLAYs, nandroid backs up all data except the kernel. You must save a backup copy of the kernel by yourself (just don't delete it after flashing it). Flashing a new rom does nothing to the kernel, again you must flash the new kernel yourself
When you make a backup of a ROM using CWM does it also back up and reflash the boot.img when you restore from your backup? Or does this mean that you still have to reflash your kernel after restoring the ROM? Or what's so useful about a recovery?
No it doesn't restore it for you ,you have to reflash stock Rom

yes, u have to flash the boot.img or the restored rom wont boot. for example, i was using AOKP with TITANIUM KISS USB then i restored my previous PA backup. it was not booting it stuck on bootanimation.then i flashed hellboy kernel then it booted.....
Yes
Since we have a s on device we have to reflash the kernel

Before flashing rom, i always make nandroid backup of my current rom.
But my question is right now i am on stock rom(with KTT kernal) and i am looking to flash cm11.
If i flash cm11 then can i restore my backup rom with CWM?
will i get all my data data on my stock rom?
or i have to do all the same thing flash stock rom with flash tool and again root it and install cwm all this things.
It would be great if you help.

I was wondering if I just flashed this new kernel on my phone but don't like the way it functions, how can I uninstall/unflash it?
Thanks
Create a backup using TWRP, then if you don't like the kernel you can just restore your backup.
