[Q] 2.3.4 Slow GPS - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Ever since flashing my Australian (Optus) Xperia arc according to the instructions to root without unlocking bootloader, my Arc have been slow to lock on GPS.
Previously on the official 2.3.2 Optus bloated firmware my GPS locks really fast (like 5 seconds).
Now on the latest 2.3.4 locked bootloader, It takes about 5-10 minutes to lock on, and even after locking on, standing on the same spot outdoors, close google maps, restart google maps and it will take the same 5-10 minutes to lock on again.
Anyone else having the same problem? Even better if there is a solution for it
Thanks
Ryan

Nope, don't have such problem (i've an unbranded arc on latest 2.3.4. with locked bootloader).
You could try downloading a GPS stats program like this one:

and see what's going on.
Hope it works out for you!

[Q] Arc going Slow down after some time

Hi
i am using Arc from last two months
whan i purchase it i update it to 2.3.3
and its working fine and fast
after 20 to 25 days i experience that Arc is going slow down and give me Force close option in mostly application like in messaging, camera app, and in wifi setting page
2) when ever i use wifi after some time the wifi is stop working or i can say that it held and not working even it is connected with wifi , and i cannot turn off it from option at that time because its very slow at that time
then i factory reset it and update it again to 2.3.3 and its working fine and faster but again after 20 to 25 days its going slow down , giving me option to force close apps , and wifi held every time i connect it.
Is any body also have these issues
Is any body knows how can solve these issues
How about you just restart your phone instead of doing a factory reset?
Yep, a restart now and than does the trick....

[Q] Xperia Arc Having Sleep of Death Problems

My dad bought a xperia arc from newegg and every time he tries to use google maps it force closes and gets the sleep of death and also when he put it on the charger for a long period of time. We sent it back to newegg for another and the new one has the same problem as the last. The phones came with 2.3.3 so I updated to the latest 2.3.4 stock rom and still have the same problem as before. I have no clue what the problem is but was wondering if anyone else hase had this problem and knows a fix for it. I would like to stick with stock for awhile before going custom.

[Q] faulty play?

so yesterday i noticed random reboots when tethering thought nothing of it.
then last night i was browsing the net and decided to play some fpse, when i'd finished i closed the xpleria play so it kinda closed on it's own (in other words i didn't fully close it myself let the springs or whatever do the work) anyway when it closed the phone actually turned off and rebooted.
So today i've updated to 2.3.4 and it's still the same so not software related, if i fully close the play with care it wont turn off and reboot.
faulty unit?
was bought from a 02 store last week still got the reciept only problem is it now has has a unlocked BL and unlocked SL, so don't fancy returning it if it can be fixed
any suggestions?
You can relock the bootloader and just return everything back to stock and they shouldn't know unless you tell them. Then take it back and tell them it's not doin it for you that there is random reboots if that doesn't work for some reason just go directly to the source a few others in the arc section got theirs exchanged no problem

GPS problems

I've been experiencing issues with the gps for a while. For starters, it takes a long time for the turn by turn navigation to start. Just the other day it kept repeating the same street even though I was no where near that street.
I use Google maps, I removed the att navigation, and I'm using the deodexed rom. fyi.
Anyone else experiencing issues?

So, i'm assuming your Ion is rooted? With stock GB on my Ion, i had some very strange gps related stuff happening for the first few days i owned it. I was constantly losing the ability to go into compass mode in google maps, and once that happened...it would not regain gps signal, it would just constantly 'seek' with the blinking icon. If i didn't mess with it for a few hours, it would come back for a bit...but then get lost again. It wasn't just maps, my tracks app wouldn't get a lock either. However, it was always related to when compass mode simply stopped working.
I dug around a little and found people claiming that the orientation sensors can interfere with gps connectivity, and any compass app will reset that within the phone when you install them. Sounded gimmicky, but it worked (i just downloaded the first free compass i found), and i haven't had a single problem since with GB...and after the ics update so far.
But if you rooted your phone, and it was working fine before, that could be the culprit...and i don't have feedback for that yet, as i haven't rooted yet.
So you just installed a random compass app and the navigation worked?

[Q] Reboot with GPS tracking or navigation

Hi,
i have two xperia ion with the same problem. When i use GPS for tracking on my bicycle with locusmaps or oruxmaps it alway reboots after a while, it works maybe 30 minutes or one hour but then it reboots. The same with Navigon navigation, always reboot after about 30 minutes. Both smartphones the same problem. Running on Android 4.1.2, i downgraded the phone to ics 4.0.4 but the problem was still the same.
Anybody with a good idea o maybe with the same problem??
Thanks
Peter
