My HTC Desire's camera is messed up. I think it may be a hardware issue because I've wiped it, reinstalled cm7, formatted my original class 2 8gb sd, switched it to a class 4 32gb sd, formatted THAT card and I'm still SOL. Any ideas?
Maybe reboot the Handy or closed and Open the Camera app....sometimes it will be better.....i don't know
Damn. I just tried using the camera with Vignette and I get the same problem. I think it really may be a hardware problem.

Hey clue,
Sorry to hear about your woes. Have you been using the same SD card in each phone?
If so format it, or try swapping in a new one. Also, play with some of the settings in the camcorder, change some things and see if you still freeze up.
Finally, I'd have a look at uninstalling some apps if none of the above help.
Good luck, and report back with some good news
Yes I have formatted SD card even used another SD card and formatted that one as well ... did a hard reset still nothing and even messed around with the settings as well and still no luck ... I am very frustrated

I try to make video HD 720p but sometimes during recording freeze for 1 second and after restart good and after freeze 1 second...why?
is a problem of included memory 8gb class 2 that there isn't the better or is an hardware/software problem?
any solution?
I had the same problem, one of the xda member told me to format the memory card.i did not do that, but i had a 2 gb spare memory card. I formatted the 2gb card and then i took the video, there was no lag,it was working fine. Hope this helps. Try this and get back to me please.

I noticed the problem gone when I bought a class 10 card. In the mean time I have gone from Stock to ARHD ROM, so this might have helped also, but I'm pretty sure it's the card. If you can, try with a faster card (at least class 6). Also when shooting video make sure you have enough light otherwise the framerate might drop.
I had same problem.
The solution is to chanage SD card.
I've bought 10class 8gb Kingston and there is no freezing problem now

Ok So I'm having some issues with my SGSII
I am rooted and I'm running Juggernaut v3.7
When I try and use my camera app I get a warning: camera failed message
It started off happening after my phone had been on for a while (I would get the error message and then reboot and the camera would work fine for a short amount of time, before the error message returned) now I am getting this error message constantly and the only way to get the camera working again is If I reboot into CWM and wipe data, cache, dalvik & reboot or go through the wipe process and re-flash the Juggernaut v3.7 rom. But still even doing so only enables the camera once and then I'm back to my original issues. I've searched the site and other resources available before making this post. Most of the information I have come across with users having similar problems refer to the I9000 and not the SGH-T989.
So my questions are (of course):
Has anyone had these issues?
Has anyone that has had these issues (if any) found a solution?
And does anyone know If this is hardware or firmware related? - (Or can someone point me to the right procedure of figuring out if it is a hardware or firmware issue?)
Hope to hear from someone soon thanks XDA
Sounds like hardware, or could be kernel, you could try a different kernel ..
Best way would be to Odin back to Stock, and see if it still does it, if it does it on pure stock , you know it is a hardware issue ...

Thank you for the reply, I have found a solution to the problem (so far at least no issues) I removed the sd card, re-inserted the sd card and did an sd card format and the problem has gone away. Well at least for the last 12 or so hours anyways. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
I was just about to say, check your SD card. Same damn thing happened to me a few weeks ago. All it takes is one corrupted image on the card to completely bork the camera.

Yeah, I was just messing around with it and figured out that the sd card format may have been corrupt, or it could have been a bad file messing with the camera process in android. T-mobile actually sent me a new one that should be delivered today, I'm going to have to send it back now that I have it figured out. lolol
**BTW** I'm using your throttle fix lolol thanks
No problem, glad to help
Hey...not so fast...LOL!
Totally hate to revive such and old thread, but I am currently experiencing the exact same issue using Juggernaut 5.0, and the VKL1 radio, with faux10m kernel. I have in fact remove all external sd cards, and still the camera app keeps giving me Camera Failed. I'm wondering if I install a differnt camera app from Google Play, if this will be a solution? Any tips/advice is quite welcome. I'll be back and let you know if installing another camera app works! Thanks in advance.
I had the same message as the OP pop up when I had my vibrant. I ended up having to buy a replacement camera.

This happened to me after throwing my phone at my bed, it bouncing off, and hitting the wall. When activating my camera, I got the message.
Called T-Mobile, told them the problem, and got a refurb. Now my phone has all sorts of problems!
Hey everyone.
My phone sometimes freezes and randomly reboots. I have about 120 MB free internally, but I do have a lot of apps moved onto the SD card usings apps2sd. Also, there are times where I can't download or install anything on the SD card, but can access everything on the SD card (which has about 20 GB free). I have a rooted Xperia Play r800x and I've been using a Class 10 64 GB card.
Part me thinks it might be the SD card, but my old 32GB card I was using (which was class 4) with the phone, it was doing the same thing, which is why I bought the new SD card.
I've also tried a new battery (from Sony).

Are you on stock from or custom because if its a custom from it could be a rom problem or else it might be a hardware issue. If you give a little more info I could probably help more.

I'm on stock.
The rebooting happens the most when the phone's screen is off overnight. When I turn the screen back on, the screen freezes where I can't unlock the device and then eventually reboots. I'm thinking it might be the SD card since a lot of my apps are stored on there, but I'm not sure.
My phone is frustrating me greatly. I think I have too many running apps as well that might be the issue (Widgetlocker, smart status bar, couple widgets). Not sure if that could be contributing to it.
Well i just started having this problem and i have an r800x as well. But for me it only happens when i slide open the game pad while the screens off. It then soft reboots(shows the rom bootlogo) and turns back on. But i lose all my homescreen icons that are on my sd card. I have no idea what the problem is though it might be the sd card since only the sd card apps dissappear.

What type of SD card are you using? I've heard issues with Class 10 (which might be my issue. I'm using a class 10 64gb)
Im using a class 4, 8 gb.

Abdel, your problem sounds like a software issue. Chances are there is a process set to open when the gamepad slides out. But for one reason or the other it's not working properly, thus causing reboots...
In maddogs' case, I'm not too certain, could be software related, dunno.
Either way the best bet to solve this problem is to reflash/reinstall your ROMs (if you could, I have no idea if that is possible in R800x).

which SD card will be perfect for adaptive storage for this device to run apps smoothly without any lag or force close?
I've found adaptive storage to run very unstable on the three android devices I've used it with, at least prior to Nougat or Oreo. Maybe it's gotten better with later android versions. As for what MicroSD card, I use the SanDisk Ultra series - inexpensive and fast. I heard the Samsung "premium" MicroSD cards are prone to overheating which can slow down data transference. Never tested it myself though.
