First off, thanks to anyone that can help. I did a search about it, but nothing has come up that has worked.
All of the sudden 2 days ago (I was running Calk's 2.9.2 with EL29 modem for about a week perfectly), my signal strength went to zero, and it hasn't come back.
I have tried every modem I can, tried every stock recovery I could download, and then upgraded to Calk's stock FB27 ICS Build (which I am on currectly) and no dice.
Sprint has said no outages in the area, and I travel 70 miles from home everyday and have the same issue, so I'm ruling out the towers.
I've exhausted all options I can think of, anyone have any suggestions?
3G signal problems
I had a similar problem, but my dude on youtube posted a video to help with 3G data speeds, Big shout out to QBKing77 for a great video, and maybe this will help, I will post a link and see if this helps.http://youtu.be/2LnUFd4osq8

Qbkings video shows how to bypass sprints proxy servers to get better speed. He's getting horrible service, so bypassing servers won't do much of anything in his case.

Calkulin makes great roms, but I recommend trying a different rom from another dev, I used to have gps issues occasional with his gb rom but not with any other. Since you've already tried every modem, and kernel it's your best bet. Make sure you download speedtest.apk to see if you get any improvements, and be sure to always update your profile and prl in the about phone/ system updates menu when flashing a rom, kernel, or modem, or you may get bogged down harsh on speeds.
Good suggestion, I switched roms (keeping FB27) and have had 2 days of great signal. Data is fluctuating like crazy, going from 50kbps down to 985kbps. But at least I can make a call without disconnecting now.
Thanks!
This afternoon, I received a notification that I had an update for Adobe AIR. When I attempted the update, it stuck on "Downloading," with the progress bar flashing but not downloading. I ran the usual steps through the grinder (cleared Google Play cache, did likewise to Google Services Framework, deleted and readded my Google account information, and rebooted the Fire), but no luck. I even did a full sdcard wipe, reinstalled the newest gedeROM with 4/29 Google Apps, and still nothing. I was convinced it was my Fire having a compatibility issue, but now my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and Asus Transformer TF300T are doing the exact same thing!
Is there a current Google Play Store outage/update in progress that's not being reported? I know Gmail and YouTube were having issues awhile ago.
I googled for this issue and came across your post and another one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27165478
Anyway, I'm having the same or similar issue on my Galaxy SII. I'm not seeing many other complaints online so it doesn't seem to be a widespread issue. And I think it's just over wifi for me. I can't test it too well because I exceeded my 5GB of data this month so I'm throttled to terrible edge speed.

A minute after posting my reply it randomly started working again. YouTube and Google Play, both working ok over wifi.
I have rooted ATT galaxy S3 flashed with CM10 with the latest nightly as of 10/14. When I first connected my phone through bluetooth to my Audi MMI, it worked and in about 5 minutes or so, the phone disconnected itself from the MMI. I have to reset bluetooth all over again, either on phone or on MMI to pair the phone again. This has been the case every time for CM10.
When I had CM9, this was never a problem and bluetooth would never disconnect. Is this a bug and if so, is there an existing remedy for this? Does anyone else have this problem and was there a workaround that they could found?
Thanks in advance

I have the same phone and same nightly CM 10 ROM. I use GOgroove FlexSMART X2 in my car.
Something is definitely broken in the bluetooth stack in CM 10. I don't get disconnected, but I have a hard time getting connected at times. With stock firmware, everytime I started my car my phone would connect to bluetooth. Now, with CM 10, about 50% of the times it does not connect automatically and it takes about 10 tries to get my phone to connect ( is it pairing? ) with bluetooth in the my car.
What music play are you using?

I have not even tried music, this is just for voice call. Since the phone does not stay connected, I have not tried music. I do not use any external bluetooth system, but the built in Audi bluetooth. It works fine on CM9, but does not work on CM10 and disconnects within 5 minutes of me entering the car.
Damn, this is frustrating!!

I am having a very similar problem, about 5 mins into a phone call the bluetooth disconnects and then 60 seconds later it reconnects, very annoying during a phone call.. I tested using full wipes on Slim 2.7, AOKP 10/11 release and 10/16 release.. all had the same problem.. has taken anywhere from 4 to 10 mins on a phone call before it happens but it will happen multiple times...
hopefully someone has more insight on this.
Similar issue with T-Mobile S3 as well
Except a few nightlies in late September, I have always had this issue - The phone will connect with the car only if you toggle BT on the phone. I have also noticed that if there are no phone calls over the car audio, the phone will reconnect after engine power cycling. The reconnect fails if you terminate a call while still connected... Hopefully this helps narrow it down.
Over the last week or so, I have started experiencing the inconsistency in connecting as well. Before that toggling the BT on phone always worked for me.

no I posted in the AOKP Q&A and nobody answered... I am going to try and copy the files from a TW based rom (files from system/etc/bluetooth) and paste them into AOKP and see if that solves the problem...
Same thing is happening to me. It frequently prompts me to pair even after I've gotten it to pair up with my Kenwood.
i have same problem with SII I with CM upate nightly 10-20121023 connecting to Audi MMI 3G. It disconnects automatically after 1-2 minutes.

Are you saying this is an issue in AOKP rom too for JB? I have never used AOKP, but I can assure that this is a problem in CM10.

I can confirm this happens on:
SlimBean
AOKP
CM10
using TW based Roms seems to fix the issue.... (not too happy about this solution)

I have reverted back to CM9 until this is fixed. I may try the new AOKP when it comes out (due to come out soon, I believe). Highly disappointed with this feature not working...

Did you experience this issue on the latest AOKP also that came out Oct 21? AOKP JB5
CM10 10-23
The latest nightly seemed to have fixed the issue for me. I also flashed clean which might have helped as well.

I tried the nightly for 10/24, it did not fix the issue . I may try Official AOKP 5 to see if they have this issue or not.
BT issue
I have tried all the ROM in the SGS3 I747 thread not the CM10 nightlies. Can confirm it is a problem in all of them , I use BT for voice calls but it disconnects after 10 mins. Works perfect on a rooted TW rooted ROM.
Can someone confirm if there is a fix in the CM10 nightlies ?
EDIT : AOKP testing is pending.

Call or music?
Don't know if it has been covered already, but a quick search didn't turn up anything.
I am on 4.04 stock and the problem is, i can connect to the wireless network just fine, and everything works for some time.
Quite soon, no webpages open anymore and everything just gets timed out. The connection, however, is there and signal is perfect.
I slide wifi off, then on, it reconnects and everything works again for a short period. Any idea what could be causing this and what a workaround could be?
Have you tried resetting your wireless router and modem? Sometimes that happens to me, no matter what device or rom I'm using. Shows it perfectly connected but nothing opens. I make a habit to reset my modem and router weekly now to avoid it.

I'll try it right away. My laptop however stays nicely connected and has zero wifi issues, but i'll give it a go and report back.
No help unfortunately. Wifi stays connected, however there is no internet connection after 5-10 minutes.
Is your battery level low, some battery saving feature is active ? Just guessing ?!

Try reinserting your sim card, helped me a couple of times
Well, that's the thing. No mods, no nothing extra running, battery full or almost empty makes no difference. Sometimes the connection dies in one minute, the phone's personal best is like 10 minutes probably
I will try and remove the simcard, however i am unsure how this could affect anything. I am willing to try anything at this point, this is realy frustrating.
I have the exact same problem. Currently I'm running Android Revolution 15.0, but it did the same with Renovate rom. I have hboot 1.31 atm.

I also have the 1.31 Hboot, wonder if that could be part of the problem...otherwise everything is stock.
I'l check out the topic, thank you!
Had this issue too. I switched to only use G band on my wifi box. N band was always making my hox s wifi "freeze"

Long time fan; first time post.
I was hoping this posting had provided a solution, but the 'Contacts Fix' did not help with my apparent issue:
(Synergy ROM) Phone app now not working?
I'm lovin' the Synergy ROM, however every time I start up the phone, I always get the 'com.android.phone has stopped' error.
Please, would anyone like to take a look at the Logcats provided?
Attached in the zip file are two logcats. One records my attempt to make a phone call; the other I hope reflects what's happening when the phone is starting up: AttemptedPhoneCall.txt & StartingUpPhone.txt
Sure, I could go back to my High On Android ROM (Have to give a nod to its author, Max of GalaxyS3root.com), but it was Max that raved about Synergy in the first place, and it has grown on me.
Despite the fact I can't send or receive any calls. I can text and surf, but it's not a phone anymore.
I never received that error on Synergy, but I have seen it on other ROMs. Have you tried a full wipe and reflash? In my experience, flashing Synergy worked best when I flashed it from another TW based ROM.
You could try a different kernel such as ktoonsez kernel. I had a lot of issues with the standard ziggy kernel when I used synergy

Will do

Thanks, altrikdout21.
Yes, I intend to. I was just curious if there were some developers out there that like to look at logcats for kicks.
Didn't think of that.

Problems with the ziggy, uh?
Ok, I'll try another and let you know.
Thanks, Domoo.
Got it working...almost sort ya.
Restored my last ROM, HighOnAndroid. I did do the reflash of Synergy with a stock kernel, but there was no improvement, and so I restored my previous ROM. I can now start up the phone without the 'com.android.phone has stopped' error. However, there's a problem. I still can't make a phone call! Yikes! Now how can that be??? I did a ROM restore. Shouldn't the phone app be back as it was? It appears all the other apps are working. I can text, surf, etc. What's happening here?
I start up the phone app, select a contact, press the phone icon on the contact's screen, it comes up like it's going to initiate a call but then I see the 'end call' just as fast and the phone app then retreats back to the previous screen listing the contact I had selected to call.
As an aside, is there a place to drop off you logcats on this forum? Being an old VB programmer (what's that you ask?!), I'm curious to see what these new fangled 'android programmers' can do. However, now I'm ever more anxious to find out what's wrong with the phone app since I've restored my ROM only to find the one lone thing I do use regularly (it's a phone for pete sake!) is still not working.
