EDIT: To have curved screen

they all sound nice but im committed to HTC especially since after they made that deal with beats audio.

No 32GB, no sale.

Beats Audio isnt anything but a brand, I dont see how they make HTC your exclusive choice =/

Expandable memory?

Agree. The specs are all unenthusiastic, and they're all 16GB phones. Are Microsoft and their OEM partners really that hopelessly clueless. Only Dell released a 32GB device so far (not counting unsupported hacks).

So is Wolfson and other superior audio systems that exist in PMPs and other smartphones.
Seems like Nokia is going to try to sell WP7 devices on the merits of a great camera and value add features like free true VG-TBT Nav. Not sure how well that's gonna work.
I just paid over $250 for a new iPod Touch for apps. Maybe that's what Microsoft should focus on. Bigger internal storage and getting good apps ported from iOS. Incentivise developers, like they did for the WebOS people.

who cares about storage capacity with things like SkyDrive,Zune and those other streaming apps? I have 16gb with about 2700 songs and still have plenty of space left.

I've been sold on HTC since well before that deal. don't understand why so many people are hating on beats.

I have to agree with Peew & N8ter on this one. Local storage always beats any cloud based work around. Cloud requires Data & most US carriers limit data usage. I have a 16GB HD7 & only have 3.8 GB left. That could easily be used up if I put more movies on my device (only have 1). A year ago, it wasn't a big deal. Now, it is, especially w/o user expandable storage...
What'd be really nice, a 8/16/32 GB option for built in NAND memory & an non hot swappable SD card slot that you can add up to 32 GB extra.

From what I understand & may be wrong, it's only headphones. Not the built in speakers. I'm personally looking at the new Nokia Ace if it really comes to T-Mobile USA & the specs are true. I can deal with 16 GB for now, next batch better see better storage though. Sadly, the HTC Titan doesn't look to be coming to TMOUSA

my carrier doesn't limit data. iPhone users aren't complaining about their space are they? especially considering that iTunes music has file sizes larger than those used by Zune.

iPhone 4 has a 32 GB version. So, of course not... Not to mention, most iPhone owners are Mac fanbois & would buy a rock named iRock for $1000 if Apple made it.

Agreed, I have 36 GB of Music alone. Don't need them all on my phone, but still, can't even do half. That's not even counting the 162 GB of movies/tv shows. Like I said + 32 GB NAND plus a 32GB SD Card would be nice, but I'm probably dreaming, lol... & let's not forget apps use storage space & they are pretty big...

Most users' carriers do limit data now, so that argument is a bit weak.
Apple only sells two versions of the iPhone 4, a 16GB version and a 32GB version. They don't even offer an 8GB configuration any longer on new models.

Same here.
Dont' even have data included with my carrier. I want a pmp which is also a phone. I'd love to leave Apple for the WP version of the N9, but if the stuck with low end devices, no way.

Well,
I'm sorry, but that's nuts. It depends on your carrier, the mountains around you, the kind of data you're streaming....
And you live in the USA, not in Soviet Russia.

No manufacturers going to change it up?

I am wondering if any manufacturers are going to be different anytime soon? I am hoping that by July we will see a little "fragmentation" i.e. we have tegra 2 phone with 32GB data and a SAMOLED screen.
Or is chassis 1 very, very strict, that we are only going to see specs x.
well MS has set all minimum specs, but I'm guessing that for things like CPU, MS should define what manufacturers can use as they're all too scared to just put any chip in without causing damage to the WP image. Most of the variations at present can really come from the camera, on board memory (and sd slot), and the screen type. Everything else you'll find to be quite similar at this stage, but hopefully MS defines the other 2 chassis type so that more variations can come about.
Meh, its annoying that the closest to what I want is a slider.
I plan on never having a slider again after seeing pretty much every person who owned a slider(including me) have it break. Conditions don't seem to suit sliders much.
16GB, 4" AMOLED screen, SD slot and audio quality coming out of the phone that is just as good the the Zune HD's.
Omnia 7 just misses it by no SD slot, 16GB almost impossible to get in SA, and the audio out seems to have missed all the low bass?!
I use quality headphones + an amp, or I plug my phone into my speaker system or my car. I will notice those frequencies...
Though one thing I do not care for, definately goes to speaker quality, neer really cared about that.
Agree! if just ONE manufacture put their whole effort into 1 of their WP7 phones, it would wipe the floor with the competition and give us all an obvious choice when it comes to selecting a wp7 phone. instead, the choice is difficult and they are technically no better than the 18 month old HD2 if just one of these new phones had for example a front facing camera, 32gb nand memory or more... ive no doubt it would be everyones pick.
I think the Samsung Omnia is the best device, however its a shame that it only comes with 8GB memory and no way to expand it.

It's AMOLED without "Super". AFAIK, only Samsung phones have S-AMOLED display.
The chassis only stated minimums... The OEMS aren't building more expensive devices because they don't have to. When the OS has picked up and is selling more, then you'll see the superphones (The first Android phone was not an Evo)

Mango Devices: Samsung lineup

Let's see, we have:
1) Samsung Focus S announced by AT&T
2) Samsung Focus Flash announced by AT&T
3) Samsung Omnia 7 S (made up name) leaked by the FCC
All these seem to sport Super AMOLED screens which is great. We do need information on availability and storage options but the Focus S sounds very promising. Today I'm much more likely to buy a Samsung Mango phone over a HTC.

Focus or go home, pretty much. It's the best device confirmed to be coming out now.
4.3" SA+ screen @ WVGA is a lot more bearable than 4.7" SLCD @ WVGA. 1.4 GHz almost as good as 1.5. It has a 32 GB Option IIRC. Samsung tends to use NAND in their phones, so I'm hoping for that. Decent cameras, and the sound and cell radio are almost guaranteed to be better than HTC devices.
Too bad AT&T axed Unlimited Data. That's a showstopper for me, and I'm guessing lots of other people.

Super excited for the Focus S, assuming at least 24 GB will be available. Now, let's see what else will be coming out around that time...
@N8ter where did you get that 32GB info? Storage hasn't been mentioned. I hope it's a Worldwide phone unlike the first Focus.
Sent from my Samsung Omnia 7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
It's heresay. I have seen it mentioned by a few people at different sites. Sorry. That's why I put the "IIRC" part It's questionable.
If it has no 32GB option it'll be dead to me.
I'll buy a new iPod instead. Really, this is getting ridiculous.
I wonder if the new iPhone will have a 4" screen...
I spent about 2 grand on phones in 2010-2011. I'll be frugal for the next few years, so whatever phone I get in the next 1-3 months well... I'll just take a contract out cause I won't be giving anything else a try.
They better knock this **** out of the ballpark. Really, they're running out of chances and it's not like the issue of low storage in the devices wasn't a hot topic following the release of the 1st gen WP7 devices...
Though it voids the warranty WP7 are not hard to upgrade the memory. i'm being alittle hypocritical pointing this out, consdiering I bought a 32gb DVP when I could saved $100 getting a cheaper one with lower storage and upgrading. Prior to the DVP comingto AT&T I also got an HTC surround over the LG b/c of storage, though I prefer physical keyboards.
It depends on what WP7 device you have. It's not easy to upgrade the storage on an HD7. There is no user-accessible SD Card Slot. You literally have to open some of these phones up to get at those slots. Lots of devices have tape inside that clearly indicates if teh phone has been opened up. Some of them have stuff in the screws that makes it obvious if you even stuck a screwdriver in them, nevermind opened it up, and they'll void your warranty if that's been tampered with (they won't even touch it, they'll just say you're on your own - I know people this has happened to).
That's like saying it's not hard to remove the battery from an iPhone, in many cases.
$100 to go from 15 to 32G when you can be absolutely assured that it will work correctly is worth it. Many of us would have paid that, but we didn't get the choice - at all.
The DVP didn't have a 32G option until many months after it was released. For the first 6 months or so all Dell Had were 8 and 16 GB options.
Plus that device only has 256MB RAM, IIRC, which is a showstopper for me. Not to mention the camera on it is beyond terrible.
No. The DVP has 512 but the early tmo ones had a bug where the system only read half of the memory.
Sent from my Venue Pro using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
This time around I'm a little undecided. I'm leaning towards the Focus S, but I would consider the Titan too. I would like to have a physical keyboard as well, but it seems all of the Mango devices aren't available with that option. I guess I might hold out for a little while, but I would like to upgrade before the end of the year.

Supposedly it has lower specs so that it is priced competitively, makes total sense to me since they're already releasing the Focus S with SAMOLED+ and a 4.3" screen.

Just what's wrong with these OEMs? Why in the world do they equate high end with oversized screens?
I'm don't want to go any bigger than 4", but 8GB of storage and PenTile? Screw it.

There's a pretty easy to follow guide to change the HD7's SD Card without voiding warranty. Don't have to take out the screw with the void warranty sticker on it & can move the tape out of the way pretty easily. That being said, never done it, because of the compatibility issues with SD Cards & WP7.

After The Spec Release Of The Nokia L800 Is Anyone Else Thinking:

Grabbing a 64 N9, with the FFC, and putting WP7.5 on it? Best of both worlds right? Cake and ice cream?
Well.. i tried googling; whats "FFC" stands for?
Ffc = Front facing camera
Required for Skype, tango, video calling in general
Front Facing Camera.
Andyeah I really wish the N9 came out in America with WP7.5. I would of jumped the jump for that one. But the lumia 800... I feel that I am settling. Although i bet the battery life on that phone is amazing
At least the N9 has 64Gb storage.
And it took them 9 months to finally come to this.....?
Where has the money offered by Microsoft gone?
As big Nokia fan (i owned like 30 nokia phones) i'm pretty disappointed with their new phones and OS they choosed.
Ah. Yeah, like I said in the other topic, I missed that too. Non sense compairing with the second generation of WP7. All of them have FFC.
i would prefer an E7 with mango
I don't think that is going to happen. WP7 is only supposed to work on Qualcomm CPUs... the N9 uses a TI chip. Also it only has 1 GHz as opposed to 1.4 GHz... though the 1 GB RAM and 64 GB memory would be appreciated. But perhaps at least there will be a 64 GB version.

Also don't all WP devices need these three set buttons on the front and of course the N9 lacks any front buttons at all.
Can't put WP7 on the N9 since it is missing a cam button and the three face buttons (back, home, search) also the screen is an unsupported res also the cpu is not supported either. Still all nokia really had to do is tweak those things and NOT SCREW UP WHAT THEY ALREADY HAD IN PLACE... but I guess that was just too hard. Lost one sale to me, thats for sure. If this had FFC and 64GB of storage it woulda been a day one purchase for me. Now I'm prob gonna just get a Nexus or a Titan although both of them don't have a very good option for storage either... I want my 64GB... It's like I;m forced to buy an iPhone and I soooooo don't want to.
Totally agree. I could have lived with no FFC, but 16GB ONLY ? Why don't make different sizes, like the N9 ? Propose a 16GB for cheap, and ask for, say, 200$ more for a 64GB... I'd buy it ! But now, no big reason to buy it as I already have 16GB on my LG.

Yeah, I'd easily pay more for 64GB. As for reasons, we can only guess but I think it's due to manufacturing constraints. They can only produce a limited quantity initially, and opted for the most popular (cheaper) option.
Overall I wouldn't look at this device as a flagship for months to come (at least without modifications). Their first priority was to make it available, so they had to focus and left things behind.
I'll get it anyway, and if something better shows up soon I'll happily change. I like changing phones as often as I can. Don't give a damn about FFC. 16GB is tiny, but bearable, at least it's not 8 like on Radar or Omnia W.
Not to bothered with the storage on this it's no worse than say the new Nexus, considering we will not be getting the larger storage version in the UK. The FCC is not something I would ever use so that's no loss.

Seeing how N9 sports a TI OMAP and MSFT's push for Qualcomm marriage, I don't think it is happening.
As a long time Nokia user, these phones seem pretty much what they should be.
In Nokia-speak, a 700 series phone is mid-range phone - affordable and for the masses. An 800 series phone is a middle tier phone with better design and features.
What we (enthusiasts) are waiting for is the 900 series phone (like an N9) that is their design flagship. That phone is still in the wings, as well as a 500 series entry-level model. Believe me there will be a 900 series phone since the Windows Phones are now their premium smartphone platform, an Nokia will need a successor to the N9 to carry the flag.
So don't look at these as the entire Nokia Windows Mobile line - they are just the first ones out of the gate.

Galaxy Nexus - Official Website Now Only Lists 16GB Version - No 32GB?

In an interesting and discouraging development....
Both the UK and USA Galaxy Nexus pages have removed any mention of a 32GB version. Originally both Tech Specs pages said "Storage 16GB/32GB", now just says 16GB. I last checked yesterday, today it's changed.
The Samsung page for Galaxy Nexus also only mentions 16GB.
I noticed that too. But i could care less if the verizon version has 512 MB. I need a 32 gb gsm.

Two things I hate about cloud services:
1. Access to my content/data is at best only as good as my Internet connection.
2. I don't want to pay my carrier hundreds in overages when a $10 chip would have sufficed.
People who rely on the cloud have their heads up there as well.
16GB isn't enough without expansion. Even Apple knows this as they go up to 64GB. I can't fit my music in that amount of space. And no, I don't want to spend 10 minutes each morning trying to predict what I might feel like listening to that day. When you consider video (playback or recording) 16GB is just crazy talk.
I hope that official google web site is wrong. Also the battery spec (1850 mah) is wrong...
I have to agree cloud based storage is a weak link in the whole equation. First data caps are small, second free Wi-Fi is not everywhere for everyone (look beyond your major metro markets please) and why should I be forced to hunt for WiFi or suffer with poor internal storage.
The primary reason I want a Nexus is the pure google experience, I don't need or want any stupid launcher integration skin garbage that holds up every single OS update for Android. I would get AT&T but they suck in my market so I am by all accounts forced to use Verizon since they have the best footprint where I live, work and play. But I shouldn't be forced to bend over and have crippled hardware/software.
Google should have told the OEM's NO SKINS PERIOD, differentiate your devices by the hardware and apps users can d/l from the market that the OEM's can update via the market. The first thing I have done with every Moto, HTC and Samsung Android phone is get a custom ROM to get rid of their crap.
I welcome CM9 and the G-Nex on Verizon but if the storage is 16GB then I will just ride on with something else until a better phone comes along.

LMAO, well played
This just keeps getting more retarded. Samsung is sacrificing everything they can to keep the Nexus super thin and light. If you ask most customers, a little more weight and depth feels better in the hand and more solid. The Droid Razr is too Thin and too Light!, it feels like its going to snap.
How much extra does it cost Samsung (A Company that Designs and produces Solid State Storage) to put a 32gb chip instead of 16gb?? less than $1 im guessing.
I was happy when I found out the LTE version was slightly bigger and weighed 15 more grams.
Panda, P3Droid and Pyde Pyper are all denying this. They say with everything they hear, VZW version will have the 32gb version. Also one of the guys on another forum said he has rev8 of the GNex LTE and said the released version will be rev9. He said the only difference he knows of between rev8 and rev9 is battery (1750 to 1850), and his phone has 32gb.
I have a feeling it will still have the 32gb storage.

The verizon lte nexus is supposed to have an 1850 battery. That spec is correct (supposedly)

I think that the correct spec should be "1750mah (main version) / 1850 mah (lte version)" and not "1850 mah".

Lumia 900 No Pentile

http://mobile.theverge.com/2012/1/11/2699574/lumia-900-amoled-display-no-pentile
Its getting harder for me to avoid trading my Titan for one of these when its released... I love my titan but washed out blacks of SLCD isnt cutting it anymore (after coming from a Vibrant and SGS2 in my case) expecially when most of WP is black
i'm 100% trading in my focus S for one in cyan.
i'll take 4G, gorgeous design, excellent (on paper at least) camera for my focus s' thinner chassis.
especially if it's not a pentile display.
It's great!
But the resultion is still 800x480
For me the sticking point is still storage. I bought an unlocked Focus on release day in 2010, have had 40GB on it since day 1, and every time I see one of these terrific new designs I fall in lust and dust off the wallet right up to the point that the specs show it only has 16GB. (which generally works out to about 13-14GB usable).
32GB Androids are becoming pretty common these days and the iPhone has been available in a 16/32/64GB option for some time. It would be nice if someone out there would show us power users a little storage love.
Until then I'm going to be taking very good care of my Focus (and my Wife's 32GB Trophy) and looking wisfully at all the Lumia 900...

I have had a Focus since Nov 8th, 2010 and have played about 5,000 songs on it, watched about 100+ movies, and taken and viewed 1,000's of photos. Downloaded 100's of apps, (not all did I keep) all on the 7.56GB usable storage, oh yeah and the skydrive storage too. I thought I would "NEED" more storage but the really with the Zune pass and Skydrive for photos I really didnt need the space I "WANTED".
Moving forward, with the improvements to Skydrive and the strong development of app's utilizing Skydrive and Home PC/Server control 16GB will be more then enough for day to day usage. Sure, come armengeddon a 64GB+ would be prefereed, untill my battery dies
I would have really liked 32GB of storage, but I am ok with 16GB (I've made my 8GB focus work just fine). I have unlimited data, and the zunepass for music so that alleviates a lot of my storage needs. I'm hopeful that the OEM's release something for the masses with 32+GB storage with Apollo though. They do need to have an option for those with more storage needs, and you cannot have everything linked to the cloud as most people have limited data plans and performance will always be better if its stored locally.
I will definitely be getting a Lumia 900 when its released. I hope I can buy one unbranded. Anybody have some news on that?
Shouldn't have to wait for apollo for a 32 fb phone. Can get a 32 gb or more android or iOS device now. Apollo is like 3 quarters away from release. That's way too long.
With ICA bringing native MTP support for Android, it's actually starting to look über as a media platform when you factor in the google and amazon mp3/video stores and superior camera software on those phones (and 1080p recording).
They need to deliver quickly. Hardware and software/capabilities.

That's good news. Looking at a pentile screen is like looking through a screen door.
