I came across this 3M Vikuiti SPs while searching for "3M" and "Galaxy S2" in ebay. seems like there's quite a bit of positive reviews for it online.
Well, according to www[dot]3m-displayschutz[dot]de the CV8 can actually heal itself of micro scratches!
If you google "Vikuiti CV8 dqc160 ADQC27", there's a link by bedifol saying that CV8 has the strongest adhesive, with more descriptions.
www[dot]screen-protectors-shop[dot]com gives a good table breakdown of the different models.
I'm so interested to see what the different ones are like that I bought all 3 versions; the CV8, dqc160, and the ADQC27.
Anyone else got them?
I bought the ADQC27 when it just came out. HORRIBLE laser cutter; totally off. They refunded my money.
The domestic Korea 3M Estoc+ does self healing magic too, and has BEAUTIFUL fit.
Peoblem Is, it's specifically for Korean markets only, for now anyway.
I first bought a Vikuiti 3m protector for my S2 and was left really disappointed after reading some good reviews for other devices; the protector wasnt the right size, the cutouts were badly positioned and in a couple of small places the adhesive backing was absent causing unremovable bubbles
Bought myself a set of SGP ultraoleophobic protectors and have been amazed at how good they are, well worth the premium price! If youre after a case too the SGP Neo Hybrid is really nice and it comes with an included SGP ultra crystal protector, great value!

I ordered a CV8, DQC160, and ADQC27 SP to replace my spoilt SP.
--history--
My SGP Ultra optics was a horrible disaster, it blurred the screen, made swishing noises and created cloudy messes from my oily face. It lived about 5 days on my SGS2 before I tore it off.
My SGP Ultra Oleophobic SP stayed on for quite a while. The screen was brilliant with it on. When compared to a couple of my other friend's SGS2, my screen was definitely sharper and brighter, that they switched to Ultra Oleophobic SPs shortly (Though one guy maintained his privacy filter)
Recently, my phone fell, and it hit some pebbles. My SGP Ultra Oleophobic got punctured. Honestly, I have no idea how else to describe it. After using 2 months, I could also see micro-scratches on the SP. Anyway I was pretty upset, so I was out to try other SPs.

1. CV8
This was the first SP I tried on my SGS2 as there were two pieces in the packet.
By god it's horrible. The glue/adhesive was kinda very sticky, air bubbles were crazy hard to remove. I haven't screwed up a SP for a long time, and I know I'm looking at a screwed one. The cut outs were more or less accurate, so you have to exercise a lot of care in placing it.
That said, the SP felt smooth, and the extra hard coat on top of it was obvious. It felt more sturdy+reliable than the UltraOleophobic. It even withstood my sharp penknife scraping the top gently, and I didn't get any scratches.
I'm very sure that it's alot harder than most (if not all) SP's I've ever tested.
Verdict: Avoid, unless you're really really good at putting on SPs. It's incredible hard to put on, but it definitely won't drop off easily. Too bad I can't really test its claims of removing micro scratches, as I took it off to try the DQC160.
2. DQC160
Very precise cut out, so effort is needed to ensure that the SP is laid down correctly. Some special glue is used, quite different from the Japan/Korean made SPs. You will get bubbles no matter how you put it, but they can be removed. You just need to force the bubbles away. The glue will actually help force the air bubbles out, and with some effort you can get a 0 air bubbles SP.
While still as glossy, it's somewhat less reflective than the SGP UltraOleophobic SP. Goodness knows why, bit under dimmer lights, I can hardly make out my reflections on a blank screen, unlike previously with SGP. The surface of it is very smooth, and it has a teflon feel. The SGP Ultra Oleophobic feels exactly like the original glass panel; This SP while just as invisible, feels too smooth.
Verdict: It's pretty good IMHO, but the installation process is difficult. I've decided to keep this SP for at least a week more, will give more feedback then.
The DCQ sounds like a Euro version of the Estoc, possibly with different glue.

I've used many different kinds of screen protectors in the past, and this time I tried XtremeGuard which I found on eBay. The cost was only $2.50 shipped. I must say hands down, this is the best screen protector I have used.
Other kinds I've used in the past were a thin hard plastic, kind of like a clear overhead sheet, but thinner and sticky on one side. These were not good IMO, because they make the touchscreens less sensitive and since they were hard, the edges would start to peel first and it would be all downhill from there.
The XtremeGuard is a more stretchy film material, kind of like 3M clear bra, or the kind you would find on a car. Its got a nice grippy rubber feel to it, which I actually like. Its "softer" so it sticks better to the screen.
I used a mild soapy water solution to put it on, and at first was kind of concerned with my results. Some areas were cloudy, there were some visible bubbles and when the screen was on it looked all rainbow cuz of the water trapped inside. After a couple days though, all the moisture evaporated, the cloudiness cleared up and all the bubbles were gone. I was left with a perfectly crystal clear screen that adhered all the way around, even on the edges. You would not be able to tell there was a screen protector on here (I have the OEM HTC silicone skin that covers the edges as well so you can't see the edge of the screen protector). The touchscreen works perfectly, and the screen protector does not interfere at all.
The screen protector was the exact size of the screen, perfect cut. Which is good, but makes it challenging to install, if you're off by a tiny bit, the screen protector will stick off the screen and that will be prone to peeling up later on. So take your time during the install to ensure its on there straight and perfectly. I started from the top where the speaker is and lined it up around those lines, and used a credit card to press it down and get as many bubbles out as I could. If this is your first time installing a screen protector, I would suggest getting 2-3 to make sure you get it right. At only $2.50ea, you really can't go wrong here. I'm 100% satisfied.

I would also like to note that I do not work for, or am in any way affiliated with XtremeGuard at all. I simply tried their product, and I liked it, so I'm leaving my feedback here.
I have tried it, but it is like a mm to long on top to bottom. And it was like 2mm to short in width.
That was my experience. Could be wrong for everyone.
I like mine, it fits perfectly. Doesn't stick over the edge and covers the whole thing. Mine was a perfect fit, not too long or short on any sides.
I'll try to get some pics up later when I get the chance
Man, I want to order it so bad, but with Otterbox covers around the corner, I think its a little waste of money.. :S
Any tackiness or stickiness with this protector? I'm currently using Phatom Skinz and love it, but I'm always looking around for something that may potentially be even better...especially with a price like this. How about orange peel?
thanks,
Alan
There is a very slight tackiness with this screen protector, but I actually like it. It gives a good feel when typing. It might interfere with pong or some other games where you need to move your finger really fast, but that doesn't really apply to me.
No orange peel, or any peeling at all for that matter.
The cloudiness really bugs me. The Zagg I had did not cloud like this one does.
The item from ebay is too pricier. This site offers products with much lower price and free shipping world wide. The 3 packed screen protector is much cheaper than 1 packed from ebay.
http://www.geartaker.com/product/3x...opers&utm_medium=minqing&utm_campaign=FA0070B
this 3 packed protector was once sold at $0.01 during its 2nd super deal.
Hey guys, I recently bought one of these off Amazon when I ordered my Otterbox case, it was only $2 so I figured I had nothing to lose. Here's my take on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19109961#post19109961
So I have gone through quite a few screen protectors, as I am on a family plan with 3 of my friends, all of which have Evos. Being the one to get all of them on these phones, I naturally went ahead and got the screen protectors for all of us. All the ones I have used before today have been the cheap kind, albeit from different sources. In a rush to collect my $25 from AMEX for small business Saturday, I hastily bought some screen protectors online on new years eve (turns out it had to be a local small business, so I won't be getting any money from AMEX).
So I bought a Steinheil Ultra Crystal pack, a Steinheil Anti Fingerprint pack, and a 3 pack of handhelditem.com generic clears.
Installation was quite easy for me, as I had practice installing cheapies on three phones, which can sometimes be hard due to bad cutouts. The Ultra Crystal is cut a bit small to the screen, leaving about a half millimeter all the way around. I'm used to laying these down so you don't have any bubbles, although there was a small bubble by my buttons due to lint underneath. The included sticker "lint removers" were great because they had strong enough adhesive to easily pull up the screen protector from the corner, although I'm sure some tape would have done the same thing. Pulled out the lint, relaid the bottom quarter, and everything was perfect.
The last screen protectors I had been using I bought from an Ebay vendor, and they were quite cheap, something like $1.35 each. Holding one next to the Ultra Crystal, you can tell the Steinheil is slightly thicker, and the cutout for the top was different (the ebay ones were cut in a rectangle shape up top as to not cover the camera/sensors, the Steinheil covers all of these).
Clarity wise, I can barely tell the difference. I am inclined to say the ebay one had the tiniest bit more white hue to it, but I'm not even so sure that is the case. All the cheap clear protectors I have used have had excellent clarity, in a way that no one can tell you are using a screen protector and the screen looks brilliant.
So really, what are you getting? People swear by Steinheil, and looking at the anti-fingerprint one I can see why. The AF one looks a lot better than the cheap AF ones, but the cheap AF protectors are pretty much unusable for me.
You do get a nicer cutout, but no one noticed with the last ones I had anyways. The ebay one was cut closer to the side edges and the top/bottom, and the edge never bothered me, so I'd say the fit was better in those respects. I've had the DC Mugen ones, which were an identical fit to the Steinheil up top, but were cut short of the soft buttons on the bottom. I have a feeling the handhelditem.com ones will be almost the same cutout if not closer to the outside edges. I'll wait to see when I get them, they shipped those separately to me.
So do I recommend it? Well, only if the cutout is particularly important to you. They do come in nicer packaging, the included microfiber cloth is bigger then some of the ones I've gotten with other protectors, not to mention the ebay purchase which came with cloths that almost feel like wax paper.
A little time and I'll know if this protector is more scratch resistant than the others I've had, but most of those held up pretty well so it's tough to say that will happen.
I don't see why you wouldn't want to save the money and get the cheap ones. I got 5 for $7.50, shipped, handheld items charged me 6 dollars for shipping alone. Five protectors means you can always replace yours when any scratches on it actually bother you, and you get plenty of tries if you mess up install.
I'm debating whether I should try out the Anti-Fingerprint ones or just try to sell them, they do look quality and holding them up to my phone/monitor makes for a reasonable tradeoff between clarity and glare, and that's with a protective film on it.
For reference, I bought the ones off ebay from seller spshop88, here's a recent auction he put up here, they're quite cheap now:
http://cgi.ebay.com/5x-Clear-LCD-Sc...189206?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43a3febb96
Note, these do have a rectangular cutout for the top that leaves your camera and sensors exposed.
I've tried all those $25 protectors like zagg and invisible shield. I ended up trying GTMax off Amazon and there great. Three for $7 shipped. They feel like the original bare screen and crystal clear. Very nice coverage. It fits absolutely perfect. Here's the link if you want to try them out.

I had my Samsung Captivate ghost armored at the mall a few weeks after I purchased it. It was around 40 bucks for the whole phone to be protected and came with a lifetime warranty.(If you get a replacement phone, keep the material they charge 10 bucks for re-installation/new material.)
I've had the phone and armor on it for several months now. I'd have to say, it was really not worth the money. After getting the phone done, the edges around the phone didn't feel right in the hand, you could feel the edges the plastic added and it wasn't pleasant. I remedied this with a simple rubber case, almost defeating the purpose of most of the ghost armor.
Today I decided to just take the armor off after having it on for roughly 3-4 months. The screen had began to get little bubbles in it in some places that was sort of annoying, also I sometimes didn't want to have a case on, and the phone as I said before was uncomfortable.
One thing they advertise when you purchase the ghost armor is it reduces the grease your fingers leave on the screen and make it much easier to remove. I experienced the complete opposite, the ghost armor seemed to almost attract even more grease and made it more difficult to "degrease" the screen. The bare screen works much better, it doesn't attract much grease and it's easier to clean.
I also noticed on the screen that were vertical lines in the plastic running over the screen, which was very noticeable when browsing a website or anything that was white. The final thing I noticed is it decreased the sensitivity of the screen. I had to more effort in making sure my fingers touched down on the screen for it to register, I also think it caused to my capacitive buttons on the back to go all out of whack as well.
Overall I would highly suggested not buying Ghost Armor. It's extremely overpriced and I had very many problems with it. I found no other reviews for the Samsung Captivate specifically on this site (or anywhere really), so I thought I'd throw up a quick review. Sorry I took no pictures, I never really thought about it.
Thanks for the review. I have seen that at the mall but did not know how well it would work.

I have Ghost Armor on my screen and am using the Body Glove case. The Ghost Armor has been on there since July and has worked beautifully. I can't say anything about the protector on the rest of the phone but I can say that my screen is just as sensitive with the protector on as when it was off. And also its just about invisible. But I agree that finger oil does stick to the screen even though they advertise that it doesn't. I'm still happy with the purchase though. 15 bucks for just the screen and installation. They did a way better job than I would've done putting the thing on.
I just thought I'd throw in my $0.02. I agree with the OP when it comes to wrapping a whole phone in that stuff - it does a pretty poor job of adhering through curves and breaks. However, on the screen, I have to say, my wife's iPhone 4 screen protector still looks good after 8 months, and it hasn't peeled. As a screen protector, I think they do an okay job.
These armor protector products all seem to have a similar makeup. The two I've used are BestSkinsEver, and I have a Zagg screen shield on my Captivate (came with it). They seem to have a rubbery texture that attracts fingerprints pretty badly. Plus, they can feel a little sticky.
Worse, they can seem to get stuff stuck in the protector that doesn't come off easily by wiping on your shirt like a typical screen protector does.
Recently, though, I discovered that if you wet a microfiber cloth (or soft tissue) with Eyeglass lens cleaner, it really does a great job of cleaning the protector, and leaves it feeling nice and slick. I bought a 4 oz bottle of it at CVS for like $3, and it works great on my glasses and screen. I figure it's safe for the protector because it's safe for coated, delicate eyeglass lenses, and you only use a little bit on a cloth.
Ghost Armor = Monster Cable = Bose ?
Any good recommendation?
I still prefer the smudgeless MATTE finish with the smooth frictionless sensation over my screen.
I haven't looked much, but when I was into anti glare/smudge, I couldn't find any specifically cut for our phones. Could be mistaken now. However, I did find that Speck makes matte protectors for 4.3 inch gps units. Yes, our screens are 4 inches, but the extra space around the edges of our displays allows the Speck ones to fit. They were high quality from what I could tell, but I just got sick of the grainy look that comes as a result of all matte protectors.
If the smooth sensation is all that matters to you, get the 3 pack made for the captivate at your local at&t store. Alternately, search for the brand Real Look, as they make the at&t ones. These stay super slick, so swype works like butter much like with a matte screen, and you don't get the grainy display like matte finish. Fingerprints are also easy to remove with any soft cloth.

Realook makes one that is supposedly matte (or anti-glare, rather), though I haven't seen one in person to know if the quality is any good. I've seen a few on eBay that claim to be matte, but they also brand them as "privacy" protectors, so I'm a little hesitant since viewing angle is kinda important to me on a phone.
Awesome Anti-Glare Screen protectors
i bought these recently
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170631580706
i understand that's for an inspire, but i believe the seller has many different phones available.
they had a pretty good fit (definitely the right size, but a tiny gap between the protector and the edge of the glass in the corners....TINY)
they have a great feel, are very slightly "frosted" so they do soften the screen a bit, but after a day i didnt even notice.
they are AWESOME. I got 3 for $5, took my time cleaning and installing and i have ZERO bubbles or dust, they got here fast (US seller, not hong kong)
and they REPEL FINGERPRINTS AND REDUCE GLARE!!! yay!
coming from a g1, i was very annoyed with how dirty my screen got using the swype keyboard. this is an answer to my prayers.
My son uses these on his Captivate.
They fit really well and are really smudge proof.

I prefer my screen naked though. Any screen protector diminishes the awesome look of the SAMOLED display.
Hello All,
We did a round of review giveaways for the Asus Eee PC Transformer a while back and we got some awesome reviews! We would like to do the same with the Samsung Galaxy S II Screen Protector.
Previous thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1273490 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278436
The materials are the same- imported high quality optical PET. These are just customized to fit the SGSII (i9100 version for now, we will be getting US carrier variants later on). This is a dry application screen protector.
This time we would like to see more comprehensive reviews. Something like this with pictures:
nxdelirium said:
Received mine the other day, and have had a few days to use the protector.
The following is my opinion. Screen protectors aren't for everyone, but personally I'd rather make a $20 'oops' than have to live with scratches. I don't see the harm in a protector, and in my experience they reduce fingerprints and glare like mad... so, do what you want.
Anyway, here's what I think of this protector:
Installation:
Handy set of instructions. Protector went on without any problems. I used a credit card as suggested to get rid of the air bubbles, which worked out very very well. This installation method is much much easier (and safer?) than Zagg, and similar to other adhesive-type protectors.
Fit:
The protector is cut slightly smaller than the size of the glass. My alignment was spot on, so I don't have any air bubbles around the edges, but there is probably a 1mm (or less) gap around the outside of the protector, which in my opinion is the perfect fit. The cutout for the front camera also is perfect.
Feel:
The protector offers minor friction for fingers. Initially my hands were very clean from the application process, and therefore were not leaving any finger prints. I have since used the TF for a few days, and even let a baby with greasy hands play with it, and the fingerprints/smudges were a minimum. In summary: the protector feels VERY GOOD and appears to cut down fingerprints like crazy. For me, this protector is better than just the glass, and much much better than the protector I had before (I had some 3 for $10 ebay style protector.. it was garbage). This protector is on par with Zagg protectors and their lack of fingerprints (for those who have used them).
Look:
Its hard to tell that there's even a protector on except for a few pieces of dust. Glare is reduced, colors don't seem to be affected. The protector I had before this one was much worse for letting the true colors through. Everything was faded and coarsened (dunno how to best describe that, but it looked bad). All in all, this one looks as good as no protector, with added benefit of reduced glare and minimal fingerprints.
Overall:
Most of my protector experience is with Zagg protectors; on a Nook Color, galaxy s and iPhone. I didn't want to have to fight with putting a Zagg on for a screen the size of the TF, so I have been looking for alternatives. If this protector is competitively priced then imo its one of the better ones for the TF. I once tried a skinomi for a G-tablet, and that thing was a complete waste of money.
Pending price, would get another one of these.
Thanks OP for the protector.
Keep us updated on their availability (I'll probably get another one).
Another question: would it be difficult to make one to fit a G-Tablet?
Cheers.

Sreen protector test
Hi guys!
I'm from Hungary with SGS2, and I would like to test a foil if it's possible!
I would write a test about it.
Thx!
Best regards,
Akos
Count me in, I live in Spain though. I´ll pay for shipping if needed.
I´m using an Ultra Crystal Clear atm so I would be able to compare them.
I just got the ProFilm for the SGS2 and put it on. Previously I was using Power Support's Anti-Glare, and I've also used SGP's Ultra Crystal before that (& a bunch of no name SPs in between). Since I've literally *just* put this on, I'll just give my initial impressions. I didn't take many photos beyond the initial opening of the package but I'll definitely do so in my follow-up.
Packaging: It came in an envelope via USPS First Class International. Inside was just a set of handy instructions and the screen protector itself, a no fuss affair. If/when this is on the market, I'd recommend bundling it with the standard microfiber cloth but since this is for testing & reviews, I'm not complaining.
Photo here.
Screen Protector: It came with 2 pieces of backing plastic, but there was no confusion whatsoever about which to take off first as they were labelled numerically and the instructions on the piece of paper was clear.
The screen protector is pretty thin but not to the point of being flimsy, though it's definitely thinner than the SGP Ultra Crystal and Power Support Anti-Glare, so I would assume it's a little lacking in terms of hardness. It's well-cut, with holes of the right size and at the right position for the speaker grill, front camera (U-shaped cut, not a circular cut) and home button. There's very little space between the edge of the screen protector and the chrome rim of the phone, perhaps 1mm or less. Very good fit. It's of a matte finish, designed to reduce glare under bright lights or the Sun. It's night time right now so I'll add on to this review after a few days re: glare and such.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it's standard or perhaps just the one that I got but I noticed micro-scratches on the screen protector after I'd applied it and I've only touched it with scotch tape and a microfiber cloth. You can't see it when the screen is on but if you scrutinise it from certain angles when the screen is off, you can definitely see it.
Application: Okay I'm not inexperienced with applying Screen Protectors (I've applied numerous times on my phone, my brother's HTC Sensation, my dad's Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 or the Galaxy Player as it's known in the USA, and so on) but this was by far the hardest I've yet to apply. This is in part due to the perfect cut of the screen protector; it took me a long time to align the SP well enough for the anal, OCD part of me to stop screaming in my head. While I am a fan of the fit, it does take quite a bit of effort to align it (or it could just be me).
Plastic backings come off easily, no fuss there. Bubbles are rubbed away easily as well, and any artifacts you may find trapped under the SP during application is easily removed with some tape. I didn't use a credit card or squeegee, just pushed it down onto the screen and it flowed on and stayed there easily. Very easy to apply (once you align it).
Usage: First thing I noticed after I turned the screen on was that this screen protector gave me more light and clarity than the Power Support Anti-glare I was using; it was obvious to me 'cause my eyes hurt from the sudden increase in brightness (no settings were tweaked, phone's always on lowest brightness). I would say that in terms of light passing through and clarity, it's almost as good as SGP's Ultra Crystal, which is a clear protector, not matte.
Touch-wise, though, I could feel a fair bit more friction compared to Power Support's AG; it definitely lacks the powdery smooth feeling I had there. I haven't played any games yet so I'll update again with more details. Just feels a bit squeaky right now.
Initial conclusion: The ProFilm seems to be trying to combine the best of both worlds in bringing the clarity of clear protectors to matte ones. (Sidenote: I'd love to have someone familiar with the 3M Estoc+ review this as well and compare them as this balance brings to mind the lauded Estoc+.) It's too early for me to judge yet, so I'll withhold doing so until I've had more time with this. But from my impressions, it seems promising!
Many thanks to OP for sending it to me all the way over here on tiny Singapore!

Tapatalking to the beat on Galaxy S II.
^Nice Review
I'm still waiting for mine to arrive.
Don't worry about pictures. I'll take care of that part
I have the Estoc. Problem is, even after more then a month, it's still not "ruined" yet. Not as clear as the day I first applied it (now with some microscratches) but nothing severe enough that I'd wanna take it off.
So, I can't risk taking it off to test this lol (I might ruin it, and the Estocs ain't exactly cheap).
But if the TS has a Profilm cut for the iPhone 4 (or the BB Torch, which has crap protector choices really), I'll be glad to try and compare.
only USA and Canada ? (
Romania wants to test this aswell
Thank you Tyrol for the indepth review

All the units I've sent out are samples. We will be including the microfiber cloth in the retail package for sure. A thin but sturdy cardboard piece will be used to prevent package from being bent. Make sure to peel off both sheets labeled 1 and 2. The actual protector is wrapped between them. Unless it's a manufacture defect (unlikely as I manually inspected them before mailing), the screen protector should provide ample protection against pretty much everything. I redid the stress test with different sharp objects, really scratched and drilled hard with scissors. You can see the slideshow here: http://www.slideshare.net/chienb/profilm-2-layer-protection-covers.

This series is finished in matte but preserves the transmittance and clarity of a "clear" type. I believe this is the best type of film for screens. Personally, clear types were too bright with factory settings and PROFILM's matte finish tones it down a little bit. Here are the specs, a few % deviation for different products:
Haze: 6±2%
Luminosity/Transparency: 94±3%
Material: High Quality PET
Thickness (µm): 50µm/100µm
