[Q] Still S-Off after flashing RUU in bootloader - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
I used to run a custom ROM on my DHD. I recently upgraded to the sensation and flashed official RUU back onto my DHD incase I sold it.
It's version 2.50xx. When I boot into bootloader it still says 'S-off' in top of the screen 'PVT ace s-off etc...'
Seeing that I cant flog it, I wondered because it's S-off can I rename a recovery to PG58IMG and install a recovery, then after this just put a custom ROM on SD card and flash it through recovery as that will already be rooted?
Thank you guys, I hope someone can help a noob out =)
EDIT: As SOON as I posted this I found the answer. My apologies. Moderators please delete thread. My bad

Flash the 1.32.405.6 and the follow the "Reverting to stock" steps in the first post of this thread.

S-off with currently rooted and cm7

Hi all firstly I just wanna say thanks so everyone that develops and creates amazing stuff for our phones on this site. Right to on to my question, I got my HTC desire a couple months ago, rooted it basically as I got it, with unrevoked, however, I'm still busy considering going s-off and I have a big question, I currently am running cm7 nightly, and clockworkmod 2.5.0.7, which got flashed during the unrevoked process, so my question is, is it safe to s-off with this? Or should I run an ruu first, and if it is safe, should I let alpharev install its custom recovery or not?
I did look around the forums, and couldn't find anything directly related to this, so any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks so much

I had such a mission trying to S-OFF - eventually, after asking around, I realized that the most common problems when trying to S-OFF come from two things:
A) S-OFF when a Gingerbread ROM is installed.
B) S-OFF in a rom that uses Apps2SD or Data2SD.
Eventually, I just downloaded a 2.2 RRU that had Root and S-OFF'd from that. Worked like an absolute charm. Don't worry, once you're S-OFF you can then flash a Gingerbread, Apps2SD ROM - but prior to this, rather use a stock, 2.2 rooted ROM. Unfortunately I can't remember where I downloaded it from, but it was from XDA. The filename was Bravo_WWE_2.29.405.5_v5.zip
Don't forget to familiarize yourself with Android SDK and Fastboot. Cyanogen have a fantastic Wiki on it: *can't get the full link, Internet is being lame. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/ and search for Fastboot.*
edit: Found the link in my Download History - http://www.multiupload.com/SAEPLNMOG7
ok thanks, quick thing, RUU's erase your current recovery right?
and with that, did you let alpharev install its custom recovery?
Thanks so much
Uhm, good question. I never really had the opportunity to tell. I told AlphaRev to install CWM-AlphaRev recovery, and there's no where between starting the S-OFF process and it being done and dusted to tell if the recovery layer is removed.
To elaborate:
ClockWorkMod, flash RRU.
Boot into RRU, start S-OFF.
S-OFF completes, CWM-AlphaRev is installed as recovery.
No where to tell if ClockWorkMod was removed
Ok so you just flashed your stock Rom from recovery and went from there? You didn't go through the whole pc ruu/fastboot process? Sorry for all the questions

Yup - ClockWorkMod, Full Wipe, install ZIP from SDCard, Bravo_WWE_2.29.405.5_v5.zip, Reboot phone in ROM, enable USB debugging, start the S-OFF Process.
I did need to use fastboot to flash AplhaRev Oxygen once S-OFF, as that's the partition sizes I wanted.
Ok thanks so much

[Q] Upgrading HBOOT from 0.75, AlphaRev failed?

I recently bought a Desire (A8183) and it came with HBOOT 0.75.0000 and I am trying to get S-OFF on it. I tried using AlphaRev and it came up with an error in step 3. How do I overcome this?
The phone still works fine.

1st: Wrong topic, you should post it in Q&A.
2nd: Have you flashed any custom ROM??? If so, thats why you cannot S-OFF it, try any near-to-stock, froyo rooted rom and then try again, this will do the trick
Cheers

Oops, wrong subforum, didn't realise.
Yes I'm running a custom ROM I'll try a Froyo-based ROM and see if that helps.
It's a shame that Revolutionary doesn't support this version of HBOOT, is there any way of 'tricking' Revolutionary to S-OFF the 0.75 HBOOT?

You can always update bootloader... if you have a goldcard then put the attached file in the root of your sd-card, and then boot into bootloader and wait for it do do it's thing.. when it prompts you select yes. This will update your bootloader to version 0.93.1002
You shouldn't lose any data, but do make a backup of the ROM in recovery in case you get a bootloop.
Then run Revolutionary.

I downloaded the file and put it on the root sdcard... Bootloader seemed to just skip over the file though.
Do I need to change the text file in the zip to my CID or anything else? It doesn't like it
you need a goldcard, so it ignores the CID.. or actually.. what network are you on?
EDIT: Just noticed lol
Wait I'm downloading a Telstra RUU and I'll give you a new PB99IMG
try this. If not, then you can always use the RUU to do a full update, and then S-OFF and flash a custom ROM.
Thanks I'll give it a try.
I have four microSD cards at home and I've tried gold carding all of them... I don't know how successful I was cos I couldn't do what I wanted on the Desire HD

try the goldcard tutorial I posted.
Okay, well I'm gonna get to sleep now but I'll give you some advice before you go.
If you can't update the bootloader with that, I'd suggest backing up your ROM (if you havent done so already), flashing the RUU to bring it up to the latest bootloader version, and then using revolutionary.
Once you've S-OFF'd with revo. Use android flasher to flash recovery (Note: your backup will not work if you do not flash the same version of recovery) and then do a full wipe and flash a ROM of your choice.
Would you happen to know where I can get the original Telstra RUU from? I think that might be my best bet.
Thanks for your help!

I sent you a link on my other post, but I think the site is down at the moment.. I can upload a mirror for you though because I downloaded it yesterday
http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/...2U_5_11_05_14_release_150162_signed.exe_links
Thanks - this looks like it worked now HBOOT 0.93.0001, running revolutionary now.
Is there any benefit in upgrading HBOOT at all? What does 1.02.0001 offer?
Hboot 1.xxxx is the stock hboot for gingerbread. So it offers you nothing. By flashing a hboot like cm7 (most roms fit in this hboot), you get much more space for installing apps, because its /data partition is much bigger.

Well you won't be able to flash a custom rom if you have s-on. Yes it should work again if you flash a ruu official rom. Once that's done. S-off and your done.
Guessing you did something wrong hence the issues you faced

My Dhd was the same as yours and didn't have any problems. Did you ask for some help on the irc channel or did you just not read the manual
Was about to try the ace-hack until i read this post. Total noob at this been looking for months to do this. If i run the hack can i just put say leedroid on a new sdcard and install through CWM. I just need to know if it all goes wrong can i get back to stock rom with the PD98IMG...
Never mind the phone i'll be brickin' myself....
Thanks in advance.
for stock devices, the HACK kit is probably the easiest and fastest one-step process to S-OFF, ROOT, install CWM for flashing custom ROM's , downgrading etc
i tried it yesterday and it worked flawless for me, just read the manual and follow it step by step..
Cheers, maybe give it a try later.

I had the exact same problem 2 nights ago!
What I did: Downloaded a stock 1.32 rom, named PD98IMG.zip and put it onto the root of my SDcard, then entered bootloader (holding volume down and the powerbutton) and then you just wait for it to scan the SDcard. Once it finds the PD98IMG it asks you if you want to install. Follow the screen intructions and you'll be fine.
After I got the stock rom up and running (1.32) I downloaded visionary from the android market place, and rootet id through that. There are good guides on how to do this on the web. Just search for "How to root Desire HD", and skip the downgrade step, cause if you installed the 1.32 edition, you just did
Good luck, hope this helps!

[Q] How to unroot htc one v

Hellloo xda...is there anyone who can gimme a proper step to step guide for unrooting my htc one v.
1. Download the HTC Asia India RUU from Football's collection in the development section
2. While that's downloading, relock your bootloader using the command
Code:
fastboot oem lock
3. Open the RUU. Find the temp folder it created and open ROM.zip from inside it with 7Zip. Extract the recover.img and flash it
Code:
fasboot flash recovery recovery.img
4. Run the RUU and your phone's status will be *** RELOCKED *** and unrooted.
So why do you want to unroot?
Whenever I install custom Rom my sd card and WiFi doesn't work...soo I installed custom Rom without having a nandroid.backup.that's y I was asking.neways thanks a lot for replying.this. is my second one v(replacement)
sent from my sexoo one v
My build number is1.56.720.2 and the ruu is 1.58.707.3.what should i do now??
how do i find the temp folder??..
What is the use of other images???in rom folder..does this stock ruu flashing fixes error?
So what exactly are you trying to do now? Before you said unroot the phone, then you said install custom ROM in a later post.
could you also please find a way to help me? my htc one v freeze forever after i turn it on, please help me
Assuming you're on stock rom, have you try factory reset in bootloader ?
Do you know your software version or cid no. ?
He sent a pm telling me that his phone is rooted and he flashed a zip file that supposedly increases the SD card speed, and apparently causes soft bricks too
I think the only thing to do is re-flash the RUU because I don't think he did a backup in CWM Recovery.
Roxas84, please confirm.
I see.. if he can send the file, sometimes do a revert.zip will help. The easiest is reflash the same rom.zip with wipe cache & system. It should correct the error.
Hey dudes,
I was going to start the same thread but since this is open I want to ask you one question:
If I root the phone, flash cwm, and then I want to return to stock (for warranty purposes) how can I 'uninstall' cwm? Because for unroot I know how to do it, but uninstall custom recovery I never done that even on my older phone - Htc hero.
I'm not new to recoveries, custom roms, flashing and all this kind of stuff, but this is a problem that I don't know how to handle it since I didn't needed to uninstall the custom recovery in the past.
TIA!
L.E: To Answer my own question:
D) ROM is stock, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery and rooted
- download OTA Rootkeeper from Play Store
- run the OTA Rootkeeper and click protect root
- no need to relock bootloader
- boot to bootloader and fastboot flash the stock recovery
- run the OTA update
- Once done, run OTA Rootkeeper and click restore root
Thanks @ckpv5 for these awesome guides
I just summarized this thread in the following tut but with much more detail:
[TUT] Re-flash stock ROM (RUU) after bricking a rooted device (for noobs)
Roxas84, follow this tut if ckpv5's suggestion above doesn't work.
1ceb0x, it will also show how to revert to stock recovery.

Hello guys, I want to unroot my One V but I have a problem. I don't find my RUU. HBOOT says:
*** UNLOCKED ***
PRIMOU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
Radio-3831.18.00.282
eMMc-boot
Which ruu should I use?
Thx!
Dude you don't look here you look at your software number in settings
Oh! My device says 2.19.666.3 and again, there's not RUU with this mention...

[HELP] what to do? No Rom installed, S-ON and stock recovery

Hi guys, so the owner wiped everything from the phone and he want it back to stock now
S-ON and no custom recovery installed,
I've googled for a method to turn S-OFF but they all require a rooted ROM. what to do?
thanks in advance.
I have answered how to s-off and root Desire HD before in many threats. You can see this post.
You can also check here a newest guide. In this guide as I think you are installing a prerooted rom instead of unlocking bootloader with htc_devs unlock and flashing custom recovery to root the device.
You can check an other helpful guide here.
