Audio quality - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Just have a quick question regarding audio quality coming from the 3.5mm port. On the original galaxy S2 they used a cheap DAC for audio conversion and the output from it is absolutely terrible. Are you guys experiencing this? Do you get a lot hissing and feedback from the port when it is used? Thanks for responding.

That's good news. I have the galaxy s2 on AT&T right now. I purchased the phone from newegg.com and the sound quality is terrible. I'm glad they fixed this in the us version of gs2.

No hiss. Aux in car or ear buds. My original epic 4g keyboard, had bad feedback.

[Q] Low Audio through Headphones

Hey people,
Was wondering if any body else finds the audio a tad on the quiet side? I have tried to use my Beats headphones and the audio seems really quiet when compared to my iPhone. The audio from the phone speaker is OK.
Cheers

Compared with my transformer and my old desire i find it loud but its all subjective.
Try volume+ from the market i think.
I can't turn it to full volume with my Bose QC15 definitely VERY LOUD...to my ears!
PS: same with my brother's klipshs

the amplifier on the Galaxy Nexus is the best I've heard on any phone I've owned.
It can drive my AIAIAI TMA-1 headphones almost as good as my Hi-MD recorder.
very pleased with the amp on this phone.

Headphone output EXTREMELY loud compared to Galaxy S2

I purchased my Galaxy S3 from AT&T today and so far I love it (except the screen is gigantic and I find it difficult to operate with one hand, but I should get used to it soon). I am coming from a galaxy S2 i9100.
I'm using some Audio Technica ATH-CKM50 earbuds (although I have tried this with other earbuds as well) and the sound output is extremely loud through the headphone jack, compared to my galaxy S2. With the Galaxy S2 I had to put the volume to 70-80% and listen to music, but with the Galaxy S3 even when the volume is at 25% I find it to be too loud.
These earbuds are higher impedance than regular earbuds too, so I shouldn't have this issue.
Has anyone experienced this? From silent to the first volume bar is a HUGE difference, and each interval is way too much of an increase.
Is there anyway to tone it down?
I wish. I've been harping on this for a while. If you find something let me know!
Use the phone with power amp and it kills ur ears lol

yeah i agree with you.. i have tried to use headphones with it and i had to leave it on second click for volume.. and if i want to get deaf i would only put it at 50% lol
i tried to look some treads up but nothing to decrease the volume more.. only to increase it haha why!!! lol people are so deaf?
anyways if you find something to reduce the output. PM me lol
Interesting... I find the audio output through the 3.5mm headphone jack to be quieter than my galaxy nexus (maybe thats still louder than the s2) i prefer using the audio out from the usb with the usb otg into my DAC

Same here - on my Macbook Pro, volume at about 50 is perfect and a bit loud. I have to crank my S3s volume to like 80 for it to be where I like it. On my 4S I have it around 65ish

I agree. The headphone output is too loud.
There is a program named FauxSound that allows the poweramp gain to be reduced. It isn't as good as Voodoo sound (for the captivate) since it isn't seamlessly integrated into the interface, but it works. FauxSound requires a custom kernel driver to operate, so it can't be used with the stock firmware. I use it with Cyanogenmod and the LeanKernel.

Earpohones with S3 compatiblity. Adapter?

Hi, my stock S3 earphones died yesterday, and I bought the iBeats by Beats by Dre. It's an awesome sound quality, and a fantastic and crispy bass, but it's one drawback, and it is that the controls are not working because its made for iphone. Just the middle button and the mic. Is there any solution for this. An hack or something, or is there any kind of adapter that will make it work

from what i know samsung changed the Aux plug.......its the way its hooked up like the negative and positve is the other way around........so the only way to fix this is to open your earphones and change the wires back to front.....and i dont think you want to do that.......sorry to give you the bad news......BUT who knows there might be an adaptor that fixes that problem
Yeah beats products only work with either iPhones or HTC phones. I pretty much have a useless controltalk cord for my Solos.
Stock ICS on my S3
I use this with my beats and all the controls work

Not true. Any iBeats with controltalk won't just work. You need a beats product with UNIVERSAL controltalk. All the headsets that come bundled with the HTC phones have universal controltalk. I have a headset from the Sensation XE and it works absolutely perfectly.
I believe that a lot of beats products produced after a certain date have universal controlltalk but you have to research before actually purchasing.
s3 compatible earphones that aren't Beats?
nevermind! should've clicked the link before I asked. noob mistake. thanks for the info!
Also, heres a defined list of headsets that do work with the S3 and info about volume controls or not.

SGNII N7100 Question

Hello everyone,
Just a quick question, I just purchased a Note II, I'm coming from a Galaxy SII, and regardless of the supposed "poor" sound quality on it I find the Note II sound to be too quiet and to have a big lack of bass, is it normal? Do you people owners of a Note II feel the same or is my unit faulty in that sense? For example my car stereo has an aux in 3.5 mm jack which I used to play music with my SII and now I do it with my NII but there's a huge difference in volume and bass response with the same setting in both phones, volume at maximum and the note II sound so quiet, if anyone could help me I would appreciate it a lot, Btw just to comment, the rest regarding the phone is just awesome, no other bad that I have seen or noticed..
Is anyone going to answer? Please, could anyone tell me if I've got a faulty device or is it normal? Thanks

[Q] Wolfson on board?

Hello,
I'm planning to get this device soon and I wanted to know if anyone knows if it uses a Wolfson DAC like the Note 2. How is the sound quality with a good headset? Thanks in advance.

I checked the audio chip using the z-device test and it does have the wm1811 dac.
Can't say much about Sq since my sennheiser broke.

I'm not an audiophile, so I wouldn't even know where to begin describing or measuring things like soundstage, brightness, etc...
But I have a very capable portable media player in the form of the Open Pandora... This device produces superb sound as the internals were designed and parts chosen by an audiophile.
Using my Sennheiser MX470 buds to compare the same track on both devices...
The Note 8.0 produces decent sound, but i don't know how else to say it... compared to the Pandora, the sound is a bit flat, in other words - i'm not immersed to the same degree as I am with the Pandora - where the sound appears to completely envelope me. Also I can hear more + finer detail with the Pandora...
But keep in mind the Pandora produces better sound than the AudioQuest Dragonfly Dac.
Here is a review of the Pandora's Sound capabilities and all relevant info: http://www.head-fi.org/products/open-pandora/reviews/8570
But I never expected the Note 8.0 to compare. So far, in my limited experience, I haven't come across a single device that can beat the Pandora in the sound department.
All in all I am very pleased with the sound the Note 8.0 produces.
- it's clean, has a good range, plenty of volume, and plenty of detail in the high and low notes. If I didn't own a Pandora, I wouldn't know what I was missing.
Of course we still need a de facto audiophile to come test the sound quality and give the final word...
Thanks for your input guys!
