[Q] Can I install SuperNova with Recovery Tool 0.4pre4 installed - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi again folks,
Basically the topic says it all. This is what I have done so far:
Installed SuperNova, did not work, kept getting into a reboot loop. So I started again from scratch.
1). Downgraded to stock 2.1 and hboot is 0.83.
2). Used Recovery Tool 0.4pre4 to root and s-off.
3). Upgraded to 2.2
4). Working all good so far.
I want to try and install SupaNova gain, to get 2.3 (GB). I have Recovery CWM 4.0.1.4 when I boot into Recovery. I have a 16gb SD card, 14gb with FAT32 and 2gb with EXT4.
When I press power and vol down, I get the following:
Bravo PVT1 Ship s-off
hboot 6.93.1002
radio 5.11.05.27.
So, without messing up again, can I try and install SuperNova?
Thanks again

Presumably you wiped data and followed the instructions in the thread?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Yep, followed the instrustions from the website. I was it was not a boot loop, my error. When I done a full wipe, it says 'Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)'.
I could not find anything to fix that, so I started again.

[Q] HTC Desire misc error

Hi guys, i was tried to install custom rom on my desire
I dont know why, but my problem is cannot find MISC
I already read how to fix it with amonra or cmd but
Amonra: i already root my phone but when i try to use unrevoked with amonra, the result is fail. I forgot whats written but the end is like "is your firmware to new?"
Via Cmd: i doesnt have root folder nor adb folder, so i dont know what should i type in cmd
Btw, my phone is android v2.2 and i want to install leedroid's v2.3.3
Still s-on
Use an older version of unrevoked to fix the "firmware to new?" error:
http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recovery/3.21/reflash_package.exe
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
So, I only need to unrEVOked my phone again?
Some peoples say to check "disable protection on phone" and some peoples say to un-check
I use AmonRA or just use it normally? Without applying custom images?

If you have a pvt4 desire, you should use amonra, if not, you can use it normally. To find out which hardwarerevision your desire has you have to boot into recovery and read the first line.
Okay, I already use AmonRA, no more MISC error
Can you guide me to install LeeDrOiD V3.0.8.2 GB A2SD+?
Because I don't understand what's wrong with my phone
Thanks before

1. Format sd card with two partitions: 512 MB - 1024 MB ext3, rest for fat32 (you can do this either from recovery [with amonra you can only create ext2 partition, so upgrade ext2 to ext3 in recovery before flashing anything] or with gparted [first fat32, second ext3; both primary]).
2. Download rom and save this rom on sd card.
http://leedroid.ftp.rshost.eu/Bravo-ROMs/LeeDrOiD_V3.0.8.2_GB_A2SD.zip
Md5sum: 86abba0365faac2c7502ff87cacd55c4
3. Dowload and save this alignment patch on sd card.
4. Boot into recovery
5. Flash alignment patch
6. Flash rom
7. Reboot phone (first might take 10 minutes; do not pull the battery, just wait)
8. You are done

[Q] HTC Desire - S-OFF/Root after ROM install with freezing!!!

Hi All,
I hope somebody can help me in case of following issue.
After some months I decided I try to install "not original ROM" to the phone.
After I read many instructions I started S-Off (Software: Alpharevx) root (Software: Unrevoked) - I didn't have any special problem with them based on the instructions.
After that I see following in Hboot menu of the phone:
"BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCHPANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
AUG 10 2010, 17:52:18"
I chose more ROMs to decide which is the best for me. I installed the first one, the phone restarted and it was frozen at the "HTC logo" (with white screen).
I thought the ROM is wrong, so I tried all, but I met same problem.
One time the system (android) loaded and started, but after the first restart it was also frozen at the "HTC logo". I installed back the original ROM, and it works well.
My questions: What did I do wrong or why it freeze always? I forgot one step, etc.?
Thank you for the help!
Uttika
You probably forgot to partition SD Card, most ROM's requires ext2/3/4 partition usually 512MB+, though some needs 1gb+.
There is loads of partitioning guides, i advice to do it with gParted, if you're not comfortable with linux then try recovery from my signature, you'll do it with few clicks.
If you dont know how to flash recovery, download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=661317&stc=1&d=1311251519
Put it onto your sdcard (not any folders, just root of the SD), rename it to "PB99IMG.zip" or PB99IMG if you have file extensions disabled in windows, and boot into bootloader. (hold vol- and power)
Will ask if you want to update, accept. Go into recovery and make an 1GB EXT3 partition, now flash the ROM you want.
Ofcourse full wipe/factory reset and dalvik cache wipe before you flash new ROM.
Yeah, I also like to use fastboot commander (requires java JDK) to wipe boot, system, userdata, cache and sd-ext.. it's a more extensive wipe than just wiping userdata/ factory reset and ROM's either always seem to work better or it's maybe just a placebo effect
I think the version of the RADIO is old.
I have a new, but I do not know how to install it.
I would like to ask for help.
What programs do i need and where can I download it.
Thank you very much.
use the links in the post above to get fastboot commander, and a newer radio (from official GB update) is in my signature.
Download fastboot commander, boot into fastboot mode, select radio, browse for the radio.img then flash radio. And you're done, it takes a few seconds and I have to remind you to check the md5 because you can brick your phone if it goes bad. so do not interrupt it.

Hi All,
Now my phone works well...
Thanks for the help!

Can i try to downgrade HBOOT and flash Stock Froyo RUU?
Update on this issue
Hi,
I tried to S-OFF using revolutionary 0.4pre4 windows, but the phone is not recognised in fastboot usb mode and i get the message "waiting for device...."
Is this phone bricked?
Thanks and regards,
Aravindan
depends on rom. maybe you have to partion your sd 1. partiton fat32 and 2. partition ext3 or ext4 (ca 1,5 GB; min 1GB max 2GB) for dalvik cache to sd
Check this guide if you haven't seen this yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
Thanks stankyou.
Yes, i tried my options based on that post.
My Phone had stock rom Gingerbread 2.3.3 with S-ON.
I tried flashing the Stock ROM and it went through fine no errors throughout the process.
But once the phone rebooted after flashing, it was still boot looping.
My phone is recognized on my laptop at HBOOT menu but when it goes into fastboot it is not recognized.
Refridgerator trick?
Going to try Refridgerator trick (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134062&page=2) today.
Keeping my fingers crossed X
Update: It did not work :-(

[Q] HTC Bravo / Desire Hangs with Red Circle Screen (T-MOB101)

first things first: sorry for the same topic (loads here, but none helps / maybe i can't find the exact problem)
my phone hangs, recovery did not work, so i am on my own repair journey.
it's been two days but it is not a problem. too many guides (confused, read bortak's too, not sure which one works for my problem)
so maybe i need to settle it with a post.
first, the specs.
here is what i got via left button + power button on reboot.
--alpharev--
bravo pvt3 ship s-off (done by me via revolutionary)
hboot-6.93.1002
microp 0514
touch panel ...
radio 5.11.05.27
aug 10 2010
the phone comes with 4gb microsd
what i am trying to achieve first
-a working htc desire with stock android
-CCID is T-MOB101 (via fastboot devices, adb devices not listing anything) (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_UK_2.12.110.4_R_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157560_signed)
what next (if i can get past the above)
- root the phone with unrevoked3
- install any custom rom
the process
- remove sim card and memory card from phone (OK)
- restart phone via left + power button
- connect the phone via fastboot usb (OK)
- enter few commands (OK):
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
- run RUU of image above. (OK)
- the phone reboots; and there is a red circle screen (FAILED, stuck at there)
i- so what am i doing wrong?
ii- once, i manage to complete successful boot, but once i tried to root via unrevoked (is this necessary for custom roms?), it failed again at the second reboot, with the red circle screen again. and now i can't get past the RUU.
any ideas? what is actually the problem?
i manage to turn it s-on via alpharev downgrader.
run the RUU again.
still red circle on boot up.
-update-
i-tried step 7 based on bortak (PB image on microsd) - SUCCESS
ii-tried to s-off and root via revolutionary.io - FAILED, stuck on red circle again.

iii- redo (i) - SUCCESS
how do I root? failed attempt using unrevoked + revolutionary.io previously.
any other methods?

that guide covers how to root after revolutionary...
also read all of the instructions that go with revolutionary, you'll find out how to do it there
however if you want to install custom rom at this point, you don't actually need to root.
you are s-off with custom recovery. so you can already:
- boot into recovery
- nandroid backup your current setup
- full wipe
- flash rom of choice (check specific hboot requirements and sd-ext partitions for each rom)
you only need to root your current rom if you have apps and data you wish to backup and transfer them to new rom using something like titanium backup. make sure all your contacts are backed up to google, and sms with something like 'sms backup and restore'
succeess! thanks man.
i am confused with the need for s-off and root.
so that means i don't have to root to install a mod if i have already s-off!
used revolutionary to s-off + recovery (via revolutionary) - success!
used recovery clockwordmod to nandroid backup, wipe cache and install oxygen mod - success !
i am really happy!

glad you got it done, but no offence sounds like it would help to do a little more reading before you start flashing away.
root and s-off are subtly different, i would explain but bortak has recently done it again here
i also recommend reading all the guides here, should help your understanding of terminologies, procedures, sd partitions, hboots, memory stuff etc.
also when i said full wipe i meant the 'wipe data/factory reset' option as a minimum within recovery. wipe cache is something else. if you only wiped cache you'll likely start to get a lot of errors where bits of system from old rom and new rom get mixed up...

[Q] Can´t flash recovery - only black screen

Hi guys,
I´m pretty lost here. Up until a few days ago i was a happy Cyanogenmod user, for my HTC Desire (GSM). Suddenly it crashed and could not boot anymore.
I managed to put a RUU (i think it is) on my sd card and renamed it to PB99IMG.zip. Booting to Hboot, it detects the file and flashed the system with HTC Android 2.2, with Sense. This installation works fine, but i want Cyanogenmod again. (i´m currently traveling with very slow internet connections and i cant remember where i got the file).
Now i would like to flash it again with Cyanogenmod 7. I have the zip for that also on my SD card. When I entered recovery from the Hboot menu, it just showed the default recovery, asking for update.zip. I figured i should have a custom recovery, so I tried to flash the recovery.
I´ve tried multiple recovery images and methods;
Using Revolutionary, which detected S-OFF and asked to download CWM
Using ´fastboot flash recovery recovery.img´
Using 4EXT recovery zip and placed it on the sd card as PB99IMG.zip
For the fastboot commandline method i have tried Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 and the latest version (both default and touch), Amon_RA and 4EXT. Combined with a few ´fastboot erase cache´ and ´fastboot erase recovery´. With every method I get only success messages. When I Hboot the phone and choose recovery from the menu, it restarts, showing the white screen with green HTC letters, and direct after that only a black/blank screen. Pressing any button does not change it.
My Hboot info:

I really have no idea anymore what i could do to get Clockworkmod or any custom recovery image working.
What options have i got left?
try http://4ext.net/, download the app and it will flash 4ext recovery for you.
as strange as it sounds, also uninstall rom manager if you have it.
finally, to get the most out of cyanogen mod, you need to flash a different hboot, cm7r2 is probably best. this will repartition your nand layout to get more internal memory. flash the img via command line through fastboot.
then backup your sd, then partition it with 4ext recovery. you'll need an a2sd script, or an app like s2e to move apps to the partition automatically.
