Help! my phone will not flash back to stock eb30 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

hey guys i came from stock and flashed zedos v2 with odin and then flashed v3 using odin....well i wanted to try the stock kernal and tried to flash that using odin...well odin says it succesfully flashed but on reboot i am stuck on the splash screen with the triangle and my phone is basically locked there...so i go back into download mode and reflash v3 and all is well again can someone help me out here...i am having no probs with v3 just trying to help the devs and wanted to see if stock kernal would remove yellow triangle.thanks in advance

Sounds like your download is corrupt. Grab the kernel again and repeat.

ok will try thanks will post back in a few

hellz yeahz thanks leather neck it seems i downloaded the first eb3o tar and bubbys is a newer one i presume..here we go ....i still have root still running super user 3 and still have over clock capability using cpu master and the muther freking triangle is gone and have stock intro woohoo!!!i have not experinced any los in any of the kernals ive flashed....... been running v3 since the actual second it was released....... although my phone would not dial out earlier today on v3 after i had tried to install samba...dont know if i need to install a linux shell for samba to work but thats another thread......dont know if i have lost cwm must check on that but man i am feeling really lucky thanks zedo and thanks leatherneck....i would still like to post in the dev forum to help out the devs but i have to post like six more times i think not unless a mod or senior member could fast track me there...not new to xda just forgot my old username and password thanks leatherneck

UPDATE!!!!!.......DO NOT HAVE OC CAPABILITY after flashing to stock kernal!!! but!!!!...my quadrant scores at 1.2 are hitting 3846!!! and thats with everything running and all stock programs still installed...... well i did delete nascar lol!!everything is working ..wifi,3g,4g, if there is anything you want me to check just say it i will be happy to help....oh cwm is no longer there...

Correct, this is a stock kernel, so no OC and no CWM.

CWM error

I currently am using the loStKernel stable and everything works fine however my app drawer no longer can move from page to page by hitting the dots at the bottom. so i want to flash the eg30 plus kernel to see if it was indeed the kernel causeing the problem. so i went into cwm and tried to install the zip. everything looks like it is going correctly but then it errors out. i am pretty new to this whole root thing coming from a palm pre where Preware made everything so simple. anyone have any ideas?
thanks in advance
Kernels are best flashed through odin
So find the odin version
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
really? i thought once you had cwm it was better to use that and not bring up your odin count. plus i did the get rid of the yellow triangle thing and dont want it back. i did look a little more and there aparently is a problem with the zip of the plus kernel that wont let it install through cwm. thanks for the advice though.

A little more information please...
Did you attempt the manual update zip via flashing it in CWM?
Did you flash a custom GB based ROM?
Thanks.
I am ...was running a rooted froyo stock rom that came with the phone.
I followed this guide....for the most part I just installed the gingerbread folder from cwm and rebooted now im stuck.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FB956i_KEp4

If you followed the instructions right, you've already hosed what was previously your "stock" rom.
First, did you make a backup?
If so, wipe and restore.
If now, flash a new rom.
Did you already update the modem?
If its still on EC05, flash an EC05 rom.

MY PROBLEM IS THat i cant even get it to show up on odin!
You don't Odin to flash a rom, so that's beside the point right now.
Don't get flustered here, I am trying to help.

Dude, just restore your nand backup.
If you want to go back to stock and become unrooted, go to youtube and search samsung epic return to stock. Watch qbkings video. You will need the ec05.tar file, samsung drivers for your pc, and one additional file that should come with odin, and a valium. There are turtorials everywhere around here, but for step by step "easy" instructions, use qbkings video.

Two options if odin doesn't see your phone. Try a different cable I bought mine at staples 15 dollars for a better 6 foot cable. Second option is remove the battery hold down 1 and power insert battery. That should get you back in. Then odin to stock ec05. Find a rom of your choice like randomrom thunderhawk. After it installs use the ec05 to ei22 modem flash. That is the method that I upgraded worked like a champ.
If odin doesn't see your phone, try disabling your antivirus and firewall that was causing me problems a while back with Norton I think.

Help please anyone!!!

Can you get into Download mode? If so, then use one of Sfhubs One-Click Odin ROMs.

Sounds like the emmc data corruption bug, there's s thread about it in general somewhere. Basically sounds like you damaged the data partition which for now means a permabrick, they're looking for a fix in the thread in general but last I checked one hasn't been found yet

Please check your Odin log and try full pkg - not Nodata ver. If it hits the eMMC lockup it should hang on data.img if I remember correctly. Also trying to access data partition by ADB, such as dd, should cause the phone to hang until battery is pulled.
Once verified only solution is replacement at the moment.

I'm also concerned when you say you were using Agat's recovery when you bricked (if you are bricked). You flashed an AOKP rom, which probably has it's own kernel and recovery. Anyway, you can't use his recovery with AOKP...not compatible.
I didnt see were you tried el29 oneclick??? All i seen is that you tried another ics oneclick! If you havemt tried el29 oneclick give that a shot. I seem to think that flashing from ics-ics roms in cwm recovery or any recovery was bad??? I have always used odin or mobile odin just way safer.

This might be your problem, you need to flash back to GB i believe try the EL29 one click like I said and see what that does for you? It may be a soft brick if you still have your recovery intact! And the fact that the oneclick you did install passed is good since it passed !!!
I think your problem may be that your CAPS LOCK is stuck in the ALL CAPS position... It might be confusing the computer when you are typing commands into it... Jk!
But from the sounds of it the problem may be that you're running a ROM with an incompatible kernel. I would recommend doing sfhub's EL29 one-click rooted full restore. You're able to get to both recovery and download mode so it leads me to believe the phone is functional but you're just not doing the right things to get it functional enough for you to use it.

Good luck!
Damn!!! That just happened to me right now!!! I am soooo frustrated. I have flashed a million times and i tried that aokp 39 and i am in same situation! I was on wicked sensations and AGAT's had no problem going ics to ics. I usually don't take a chance and just use mobile odin but this time i was not paying attention. Please let me know if you find a fix

For starters you can use this gb kernel that will directly boot into cwm (won't boot system until something is flashed over it) : here
Then I suggest reading about some of the options available to kernel/recoveries that are safe to use to wipe/backup/restore once in ICS.
New and Need Your Help. Thank you.
Hello. I am brand new to this, but can follow directions really well. I Rooted my Galaxy S II EL29 w/o a problem and followed the directions here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229... to get a ROM version of ICS.
Now, my questions are (After searching through the forum for two days):
What is the BEST and SAFEST way to try and install other leaked ROMs?
I currently have 'Android system recovery <3e>'. Do you recommend something better or stick with what I have?
Also, Which ROM do you believe is the best one that comes close (w/o bugs) to the latest ICS/Jelly Bean?
P.S. ~ How can I add Beats Audio after flashing a ROM?
Thank you in advance for your prompt replies.
So you have stock rooted FF18 Rom and kernel now. You need a kernel with custom recovery to flash anything. The safest way is to go to sfhub's thread where you got ICS tar file and click on the Auto Root link in that thread. That will tell you how to add Clockwork Mod recovery to the setup you have now. It's a script you run on your pc with the phone plugged in. Pretty easy and he explains it pretty thoroughly. After you have CWM, good idea to boot into recovery and backup your phone before you go any further. Hold volume up and power at the same time and hold them until you are in recovery mode. Select backup and let it run.
Once you've done that and want to get on another ICS Rom, flash Calkulin's format all zip made especially for this phone. It will wipe everything except your sd card in the proper order and has never bricked a phone as far as I know. It will clear all your apps and data the same way flashing the FF18 tar file did so you'll have to reinstall all your apps. Get it here.
http://db.tt/sUM1uH72
When the format all its done, flash your new Rom. Wicked Sensations and Agat63's Rom are a couple of my favorites but there are several I haven't tested yet. If you want to try AOKP roms or Cyanogen Mod, better do more reading. They are different animals than the Touchwiz based roms so you have to know what you are doing with the recoveries on those.
We don't have jelly bean for this phone yet and I can't help you with beats audio except I think a couple of Mijjah's roms might have it built in. I don't think you can flash it on top of a Rom but I could be wrong. Good luck
Edit: Wicked Sensations was just updated and has a few elements from jelly bean in it. I plan on trying out over the weekend
I'll second Agats rom as a rock solid product... I also really like m'ics lately.

What do you suggest... Thank you.
Hello and thank you for your response.
After waiting awhile for a response decided to read and read and read more. Basically doing some more research so I DO NOT BRICK my mobile phone.
This is what I did... I flashed back to EL29 Rooted, installed Clockwork Mod recovery, and installed Team VeNuM Blue Boa v0.2. Everything seems to work fine. I did find and installed 'Beats Audio Mod' an hour ago. Oh yeah, I did do a Backup right after installing CWM.
Now, is it SAFE to flash another ICS ROM, like Wicked Sensations or Agat63's ROM, after flashing Calkulin's Format All Zip? QBKING77 stated that he recommends going back to Ginger Bread and installing CWM before flashing another ICS. He does not recommend going from ICS to ICS. What do you think about that? Also, can you send me the links that has the instructions to install the ROMS you like? Thank you.
You are doing things right by reading up and waiting until you are confident you know what to do. That's why I am more than willing to help. This stuff has all been covered but there are still plenty of new people who are tired of waiting for ICS rooting this phone recently. The Odin method QBking describes IS the safest way and I did it that way quite a few times when the leaks became available. It involves more steps and you need your pc. Since you already know how to use Odin maybe you would feel safer doing it that way. However, many of us have used the format all zip to switch ICS roms and its been done probably thousands of times with no problems. Never heard of a brick yet using it. Also keep in mind most of the custom roms such as Boa already have a custom recovery built in so you won't have to keep using Auto Root to add CWM. Good job

No CWM on EL29 + EL26 Recoverys

I am having issues booting into CWM EL26 + EL29 Recoveries.
I am able to odin the kernal but it just sticks on the Samsung logo if I try to access CWM.
It used to reboot and either go right into CWM or I would do Volume Up and Power to access.
I am currently on Paradox Rom GB27. I am trying to flash a ROM that needs EL26 or EL29 but cant access.
Any idea why I cannot access?
Also, if I have the charger plugged in (usb to comp), the screen gets stuck on a battery icon like its charging but doesnt move.
(think thats just because the charger is plugged in) BUT it seems that whatever this kernal is doing it the phone it is Freezing it at that first boot point.
I reflashed GB27 so im fine for now but just want to solve this mystery.
Any help appreciated! thanks!!

Now all of a sudden they dont. I tried downloading agai , checked md5, everything appears correct.
I will post back the results.

No luck with mobile odin. Same thing. Stuck at the White Samsung Logo.
I am out of options. Unless there is another kernel I can try that is similar to el26 + el29.
Its weird how gb27 works fine... I just dont understand that. Could something be broke or misconfigured on my phone to not allow
installing el26 + el29?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. I will stick with Paradox for now.
I wanted to try multi window rom but flashing on gb27 gives force closes and constant reboots.
Is it possible that once im on gb27, I cant go back and flash a gb rom? Ive done it
Before so thats why im stumped. Its like my phone doesnt support it.
I went on rwilco and downloaded multiple files and made sure they were with cwm.
They all do the same thing. Heres one for you... would water damage cause those kernels not to work?
Phones fine besides the kernel issue.
Also is it possible when doing cleanup on my phone and deleting
Old backups cause an issue? I thought to myself... wait I can restore an old rom with
El29! Lol no where to be found, already got rid of them.

Try doing an Odin stock rooted Rom flash on ICS and then working from there using mobile Odin. Sometimes I can't do the pc Odin for those kernels so I use mobile Odin and it works perfect.
If you're trying to flash the new SHOShock Rom by TD then I'm having issues with that too. My phone gets stuck on a boot cycle and if I try to flash a nandroid back up then it gets stuck on the Samsung screen. Only way out of it was flashing a GB27 rooted stock Rom in pc Odin.

First, download the el29 recovery kernel zip located in the rwilco repository.
Next either flash, or already be on the gb27 agat recovery kernel (also can be found in repository).
While in agat recovery, navigate to "mounts and storage"
Select "format /preload" (and whatever else you want to wipe out)
Back out, then "install zip from SD card"
Flash the el29 zip and you should be good to go.
