Question about sprint termination - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

guys how long after a phone is terminated can you add it to your line?
long story short i sold a phone and had terminated that line.....the line was terminated on tuesday when i still call the number the line is active?

EDIT: disregard anything I've said thus far. I am confuse. You terminate a line not a phone.

thats...what...i...said......

I cancelled 3 of my lines (1 line one day and the other 2 a week later) because of that new administrative charge in which they waived my etf.
Anyways, after the first line was cancelled..two days later I was able to add a new line. However, after I cancelled my last two lines. I wasn't able to add a new till my next billing cycle.

I still don't (based on your OP) have any idea what is going on, but, the only tidbit I think I understand from your last post tells me to say: Perhaps it will go to the end of your billing cycle which you have likely paid for already.

End of billing cycle

It depends on how many open lines you have. If you have an open line (by that i mean you were approved 5, have 3 on the account would equal 2 open lines) you can do it next day. If not you have to wait till next billing cycle. If you close all the lines they can make you wait up to 60 days, it's rare but they can.

Adding a line to Plan

this may be a little of topic but i have question. i just recently purchased a Nexus s 4g for my sister (fifth teens coming up) i have my main line with my ET4G a second one with a EVO and now i want a third one for the nexus . for some reason sprint is making me sign ANOTHER 2 year contract even though im providing the handset myself. iv googled it and it seems like its a hit or miss sort of thing. anybody ever been in this situation? is there a way to get around having to sign a 2 year contract since i am not going to get another handset at a discounted price? any help much appreciated.
if you provide the equipment you do NOT have to sign a 2 yr.
If they try to make you then tell them they are incorrect. The 2 year contract is to gain the discount to purchase the phone.

Not if you're adding a new line. Getting another phone on an existing line wont affect your contract if you pay full price for it, or you already owned it. But if you're adding a line, you have to sign a contract for that new line.

That's right. Might aswell get her a new phone or another phone e4gt and sell it.

AFAIK, the only carrier in the US (besides the little guys like MetroPCS, maybe,) that allows you to bring a phone and avoid a contract altogether is T-Mobile.

I did this last year by adding a line for my wife in my plan. I had a extra evo available at the time so I used that phone. I signed a two year agreement but kept my rebate for later use.

only in California. but everywhere else, yes, you have to sign the 2 year service agreement. but, you still have eligibility from that day forward, so you can get a phone at a discounted rate. think of it like this: when you add a new discount to your account (employer/organization discount), you sign a new contract without affect eligibility. same goes for $50-100 service credits offered to customers who are 2-4 months from contract end but are not interested in a new phone. eligibility and contract terms are actually 2 separate time-lines. the only reason you sign the contract for a new phone is to guarantee sprint you're going to stay with them, in turn subsidizing the heavy discounting they gave you. (i work in a sprint store )
Even if you sign a contract will there be a ETF if you quit? I thought your etf decreases over time as sprint makes their money back from the subsidy. If they don't have to subsidize you're phone what does that mean? Anyone here know the answer?

Etf still applies. That's just part of the terms, sprint wants you to stay with em. It is prorated though. For feature phones, it goes down by $10/month after 5 months til a minimum of $50. Smartphones prorate by $20/month after 5 months until thy reach $100
This message will self-destruct in 30 seconds.
The etf should be only 200 even though it is an advanced device, since you aren't receiving a discount on an advanced device. If you have a discount on your line the etf starts at 200 anyway.
There have been reports of people activating the evo view tablet month to month with a few callbacks to customer care. Just a matter of getting the right person on the phone. In the store I don't think the software allows us to bypass it.

Would this be possible?? Quick hypothetical question...

If i purchased a .1 cent phone on amazon.com could i transfer service to another phone on the new line? (without any fees from sprint or amazon). Follow up question could you then put that line on hold for 8.99 a month? Thinking of adding 3 E4GT on my plan and then selling them. KIinda like a 24 month loan .... Am i crazy? Is this a bad idea?
first part of your question....yes, i did the exact same thing this past week. im on the .01 cent phone now. as for the rest of ur inquiry i have no clue.

Yes you can transfer, the 8.99 only lasts for 6 months, and those 6 months are added to the end of your contract.

I'm not sure about the 6 months limitation (mentioned in the post above), but I can tell you that I convinced my girl to get me an E4GT from a line that was put on hold (an unused sleeping line that her company is keeping just in case). After she got the phone, she never activated it on that line. I took the phone and transferred it to Virgin Mobile! It's been 3 months since then, and I recently had her check the charges... there has been no change in what Sprint is charging for that line on hold (with the exception of the $199 fee for the purchase of the phone).
I was recently reading about some guy that complained to Sprint about weak signal in his house. He had Sprint send him a free Airave Access Point and he claimed there were NO CHARGES for the equipment and NO MONTHLY FEES !!! He claimed that Airave appears on his monthly statement as a phone line, so he was able to get an E4GT from sprint on that Airave line !!! I'm assuming he's able to take advantage of this free upgrade every 2 years...
HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU IN ANY WAY !!!

Sprint keeps changing my contract date

I know this may not be the best place for this but and I never rant but I am pissed and figured everyone in this forum has sprint as a carrier so i would like to get some feedback. Ill try to make this short and add to it if i get any responses.
I bought eh Evo on a 2 yr contract june 2010. in sept of 2011 i bought the galaxy 2. after 3 days i returned it due to LOS. at the time of purchase i asked the rep "if i return this phone will my contract date revert back to june 2010" he said yes. well i returned the phone and a week later when i called to check my contract date it had been changed to sept 2011. I explained the situation after being on the phone for hours and having to fax over receipts and call multiple times over a months period it was "resolved". in Dec the LOS was resolved so I paid full price for the galaxy 2 at Walmart so my contract date wouldn't change. I activated the phone called a week later to check my contract date and it was still june 2011. yesterday I called to add a phone to my line but out of curiosity i asked about my contract date and was told Dec 2011. I had to search for the receipt, fax it to sprint to prove I paid full prince for it and was on the phone for 2.5 hours 3 different times. I told them prove to me that I signed another 2 year agreement. finally I just hung up because it was unbelievable that the reps had to read my notes each time I called and didn't interpret it right. so i had to explain all over again. Finally some lady called me back and resolved the problem. I was so damn pissed and she kept saying please calm down sir i understand you frustration. I calmly said no problem Ms. just tell me how this happened and I will understand. she replied " it seems someone went into the system and changed you date for no reason". My question is would you stick with sprint knowing that this has happened more than once and i have to hold on to receipts on phones that a no longer own just to prove something that was supposedly resolved? I have the receipt for my evo because i still own it and for my second galaxy 2 because I still own it but now it seems i have to keep every receipt even if i don't own the phone anymore. The only reason I may stay is because Whenever i get a tmobile phone i go over 5gb in less than 2 weeks. They have me trapped.
Unfortunately it seems like you added a line. When you add a line on sprint even if you are using your own phone, a new line comes with a 2 year contract with sprint, which to me makes absolutely no sense at all. If you had only switched the phone on to your current evo line the contract date should have remain the same, but from reading what you had wrote up there. It looks like you add a second line while paying full price for the phone.

Nope same number = same line. I used to swap out phones on a weekly basis by just changing the msl and some other number directly on the phone. and ike i said after a week or so after activating this phone i checked to make sure that my contract date didn't change and at that point it had not. someone had to have manually went into my account and changed it. the lady who finally resolved the situation even said someone did something the shouldn't have.
I has similar issues years ago and told Srint to go eff themself and went to Tmo. Only came back to Sprint because I got married and wife had them. Tmo service is much better but gotta keep wife happy.

Adding new line just to get SIII?

Is it possible to add a line to my account, get the S3, and swap the phone out?

So you want to add a line to purchase the S3, then move the S3 to your existing
number? Yes, you can do that, if you deem paying the extra 30 a month "worth it", and that's if you already have a family plan. If you are on your own you will be looking at about a 60 dollar a month increase.

Thanks, this is what I needed to know, was it an monthly charge for adding a new line. $600 for the s3 is kinda heavy.

Also, not sure if this is still correct, but it used to be that a new, subsidized phone had to be active on a line for at least 30 days before they would swap it to another line.

It's no problem to do a same day swap. Do it all the time.
This doesn't make a lot of sense to add a line to subsidize the cost of a phone if you're NOT going to use it.
2nd line on family plan $20.
Data on that line. $10
$30 for 24 months is >720 when you add taxes and all.
Better still, be patient, a few will trickle to Craigslist and you'll be able to pick one up soon enough.

[Q] Straight Talk Refill Help

So middle of last month I bought a playstore galaxy nexus and an at&t straight talk sim. I ported my phone number over and paid for the first month of service with my debit card. No issues. Well fast forward to today I bought a 3 month card from walmart.com and want to add it to my reserve so I can have 3 more months of service but I still have about 10 days until I need to refill. I try adding the pin online with no luck and so I call in to add the pin. The lady I talk to says that I can't add a pin until after my service expires at the end of my month. So essentially I have to wait until my service turns off before I can add a 3 month pin? Does that sound right?
Thanks
You can add it to your "reserve" at any time, and it'll be applied when your current month ends. If the CS rep doesn't understand properly, make sure you explain clearly that you need it added to the reserve.
I just did this on the phone last week with a refill card that wouldn't add to my account properly online (still don't know why). She knew what the reserve was and did it for me no problem.
Do not let your service run out. Always have a refill in the reserve or auto-refill w/ a card on the account. ST is pretty explicit about having something set up to continue your service, otherwise they'll close the account when the service runs out.
Thanks. I'll give them another call on my lunch break. If its always going to be a hassle like this I think I will just do the auto refill after the 3 month card runs out. Saving $5 bucks a month is not worth the hassle. Still love the service for the price.

No problem.
Glad the CS worked for you. I had them run through my account and fix a few issues when they added the card too, so we'll see if I'm able to add a refill to reserve online come the end of this month. I have no problem doing it once a month to save a few $$ if I can do it without calling.
So I think they accidentally added the time to my account twice because now it says I am covered until April, which is like 6 months. Wondering if I should say anything...

What'll probably happen is once they actually take the PIN and apply it to the account (which is when this month ends), it'll then be invalid for the next time it tries to apply it.
It'll likely correct itself. If it doesn't change in 10 days when you start that PIN, you make the call on whether or not to call them rofl.
