Hi all,
So I've been reading many of the posts in the Epic Touch Development section. I found the post about returning to stock after rooting and it mentions returning to stock EB30 Kernel. When I look at my phone, which hasn't been rooted, it shows the kernel as 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734. I'm assuming my kernel would be EG30 not EB30. What's the difference? Is that an older kernel than mine?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
Hey I flashed the acs recovery just to see if it work and it did, but I got the yellow triangle splashscreen and then decided to flash the stock kernal. My "Kernel version" is Eg30 not Eb30. Both boot and splashscreen are back to stock now.

Sounds like your download is corrupt. Grab the kernel again and repeat.

first of all, im going to go ahead and say sorry if i am re-posting a thread that has been started....
but i have been through about 20 threads about going back to stock and i keep bouncing around it seems like.. seeing some stuff is out of date, some people are having issues. and its late and my brain is just gettin cluttered and confused.
i need to get back to stock rom, kernel, recovery, modem and unroot, everything by tomorrow.
could someone please give me the proper up-to-date links to help me out?
i keep seeing 'KL1' and 'KD1' (i think KD1) im not sure which mine is... and it dosnt say in 'About Phone'
i currently have CMW and ICS perfection flashed with blaze modem. pretty sure i have skyrocket kernel as well as per the ICS rom. binary download says 'Download: NO"

First go into clockwork and wipe data, cache, and dalvic.
Then flash the stock kernel and then flash this:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyS2TMobile/unroot/SGH-T989-UnRoot_ROM_Zedomax.zip
And here's the stock kernel
http://db.tt/h6Bq5cdM
Make sure you flash stock kernel first because after you flash the other zip you will no longer have clockwork recovery you will have the stock recovery. I have done this on two different phones i had to return to tmobile

thanks for the help guys. thanks given.
I was also looking for a stock ROM for the T-Mobile version. Thanks for the heads up guys.
Hey guys I'm new to the forum but have lurked for awhile. I have searched for the answer but it is still unclear to me, so I thought I'd ask for yall's help.
Can I go straight from the cm9 alpha rom to the blazer smoothies without bricking my phone?
Or do I need to first return it to the stock el29 kernel first?
What is the easiest method?
I have heard how easy it is to brick your phone when running the cm9 and not really knowing what your doing lol.
Help is appreciated. Thanks
Odin back to el29 using sfhubs one click

You can Odin the EL26 kernel and flash the ROM, but I'd do what revamper said.

Thanks guys. So if I just flashed the blazer rom before returning to el29 would it brick my phone?
Im confused because when I look at my about phone it says im on the baseband version S710.10 S. EL29 isn't that ok?
I get confused between that and the kernel version.
The baseband is your modem. Those are independent of rom and kernel. Use any modem on any rom/kernel.
I use mobile Odin to go back to gb. Flash el26, immediately boot into recovery. Wipe and flash the rom of your choice. You can also try another modem in the the same flashing session if you'd like.

Hello i have a simply question about returning to stock.I want to go back to stock so that i can do the Rogers OTA for JB, im currently on Kyan Rom 1.5 with ktoonsez kernel. My question is if i flash a stock rogers rom via odin will that flash back the original wifi and bluetooth drivers? Any help would be much appreciated.
Flashing back to stock via Odin will replace everything, including your recovery.

Yes it should flash back everything. Just make sure you do a factory reset from 3e after the install just to be on the safe side and to get rid of left overs. All should be fine after so.
Ok might be a dumb question but how do you get in the 3e recovery on stock?

Have to use Odin to flash either TWRP or CWM. Make sure auto-reboot is unchecked. After successful flash, pull the battery. Replace battery and 3-finger boot (Camera+VolDwn+Pwr) into recovery and flash whatever rom you want. If you're just trying to root and keep everything the same, then you'll need to flash both SuperSU and a BML FC09 kernel to retain root. Otherwise the stock kernel will rewrite stock recovery upon reboot.
If you want to just be rooted, then flash the stock deodexed or odexed-rooted version of FC09.
This information is readily available if searched in these forums. The guides are a bit outdated.

I don't know why everyone says this. I rooted my stock BML FC09 by Odin-ing CWM 5.0.2.7 and then directly flashing SuperUser 3.2 RC3's flashable zip. After reboot everything including root is fine while I always have access to the CWM recovery. True story Try it.

We say flash the fixed stock kernel or a 3rd party kernel because the stock FC09 kernel has a line of code that checks the recovery partition for stock recovery. If there is a mismatch, then the stock recovery is flashed silently during the boot sequence.
Andy, are you sure you weren't on the fixed stock kernel when you experienced that? Or that you weren't on the recompiled FC09 on here?

Huh? I just Odin flash the stock FC19 tar... (sorry, I got it wrong with the version, I initially got a leaked "official" FC19 from the dev section. Does the version difference matter?)

Look on youtube for a guy named QBking77. He has the best videos for rooting/rom-ing. He shows video and gives commentary as he goes. I use his videos/tutorials all the time. I highly recomend his stuff. He has plenty of vids for the Epic4g.
Hope this helps.

I believe so. I think with that version the line of code mentioned above is removed from the kernel. It's been so long since I read discussions on that unofficial release, but that is my recollection.
