[Q] Where are ringtones stored? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I created a ringtone using the stock music app by hitting menu > set as > ringtone, thinking it would give me an option to edit the song before saving, but it does not. So now I want to delete it. Anyone know where ringtones that are created in this manner are stored on the phone? A quick search on google yielded no results.
Thanks!

[Q] Your own ringtones in the system ringtone list

Can anyone tell me how i can put my personal ringtone in the phones memory so it appears in their ringtone list?
Also the same with text message notifications?
I'm having a problem where if I select my own mp3 ringtone, it will play the last mp3 i've been listening to as my ringtone as opposed to the actual ringtone i want.
Thanks
I have mine stored in /sdcard/Media/audio/ringtones
ringtones go in /system/media/audio/ringtones/ ive not tried adding my own but i suppose you could either add them to the rom .zip before flashing or push them to that location using adb
Look for "Android System Information" in the Market.
Install and open it, then look under the system tab, and expand/open the environment section.
You will get to see a list of the folder variables where the system looks for media.
In case a Cooker has changed something specific, these should show the right location.

How to make custom default ring tones?

So I have a few customer ring tones that I transfered over from my EVO 4G. They are in the Mp3 format and I am able to set the ring tone on an individual level, but I cant set it as a default ringtone.
So how does one set a customer ringtone that is an MP3 as the default ringtone?
Notifications as while?
Much Obliged for all of your help in advance.
Go to settings, then sound. You'll be able to set phone ringtone as well as notification ringtone.
I should have said that I have already tried that. There is no option that lets me pick the sounds that are on my SD card.
For example when I go into my contacts list and go to ringtone, there is three options, Default Ringtone, Select sounds from My Files and Phone Ringtone.
Now when I go to Sounds it just gives me a bunch of generic sound files. Nothing from my selection.
you just move the sound file to the /media folder using any file manager app. Then it should show up in the list of sounds when you set your ringtone. The same steps can be done for notification sounds. If you're confused, there's plenty of youtube video tutorials showing you step by step information.
I do it this all the time, I create custom ringtones with Audacity (cut out the chorus and fade the track in and out so it sounds cleaner). Right now I have the Jetsons door bell as my notification sound
Just a wild guess that you didn't put your custom ringtones in the proper file location on your SD card.
You need to create a folder called "media" (no quotes). Inside that folder create a folder called "audio". Inside that folder create 3 separate folders called "alarms", "notifications" and "ringtones".
Place your custom ringtones in the ringtones folder, reboot (not sure if that's necessary) and your customs will show up.
.....
Thanks alot guys. That was exactly my problem, I did not have the media folder.
Wasn't exactly sure where it should have gone so I used ringdroid to create another Ringtone and it place the media folder along with the Ringtone folder on my SD card.
Always amazes me how simple a problem can be resolved if you have one price of information.
Thanks again. You are the best.

DO I have to have the same ringtones on all the folders so I can place custom ringtones in say text email etc..?
thanks
if not where are the text ringtones located at? I did a search by name and nothing came up though I have ring tones to choose from
thank you again
You can always download RINGDROID from the market. It lets you "trim" your mp3's and set them as default/contact ring tone or notification.
So far that is the best way I found to work in my phone.

Can't find downloaded notification sounds.

I have downloaded some new notification sounds, but can't find them in Personalize > sounds to allocate them as email and text notifications. I'm sure I'm being dim - can someone please tell me how I can do this? Ta!
there in ur download folder on ur sd card, move them to notifaction folder to use them
could be in music. not a guarantee, because i downloaded a ringtone from at&t which never appeared anywhere, but something else i downloaded through the play store ended up in my music player, which actually seems logical, since the player has the capacity to create a ringtone.

[Q] Setting my music as a contact's ringtone

Hello,
I've Huawei Ascend P6 with EmotionUI 1.6 on Android 4.2.2.
Kernel version: 3.0.8-00795-g35bf84a
I want to set up my own song as a ringtone to a specific person. When I try to do it from the "Contacts", I can click to choose the music from built-in melodies (all .ogg in system/media/ringtones), or from my library. In the library option, thouthands of my songs are unsorted, showing up as a plain list - it's unreasonable, since I must scroll long minutes to get to a wished song. So... I went back to the predefined melodies option.
I tried to copy my songs as .mp3 or as .ogg (after convertion) to the folder /system/media/ringtones. The phone sees them, but from some reason can't play them and I still can't set them as a ringtone.
I'm desperate!
Please give me an idea how to set my song as a contact's ringtone!
Thanks!

G3 custom ringtones?

Hello,
I'm trying to add some of my ringtones to the G3, and can't get the phone to use them. As usual with previous phones, I just copy some mp3 in my Ringtones folder, but they don't appear in the ringtones settings. In the settings I can add a new ringtone, but it tries to get it from my library, and I don't want them in there as they're not actual songs.
Is there something I don't get? How do you guys use custom ringtones?
I could probably add them to my library, then add them as ringtones, then remove them from the library, but that seems tedious and I'm not even sure that would work.
(PS: I'm not rooted yet, I'll wait a few weeks to have a good feel about the stock rom before I go into serious tweaking)

I was surprised to see this issue as well--I'm not sure why LG would intentionally not allow additional ringtones (and notifications).
I'm rooted, and what I ended up doing was copying the ogg files into /system/media/audio/ringtones. Even then, the new ones took a while to show up in the ringtone list--I assume a media scan was needed.
I have noticed, however, that new notifications and ringtones downloaded through Zedge do appear in the list.
On my d850 I can add custom ringtones, I didn't even have to copy them into my ringtones folder. I hit add in sound>ringtone and it finds all media on my sdcard... Even mp4 videos

Actually you're right, the ringtones I had manually copies into the ringtone folder did eventually appear in the list. I guess as you said a media rescan was needed.

Hey,
I fixed this issue on my phone by going to Settings -> General (if you have "tab view" on) -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage and then clearing the data by clicking on the "Clear data" button. After that, I simply rebooted my phone and all of my ringtones and notification sounds appear in my apps (e.g. Hangouts, Google Play Music, Contacts, etc).
There are apps on Google Play that is suppose to do this for you; however, the first three that I tried force close on me so, I went this route.

Using this method erased the cache completely and left me initially with an empty list of sounds/ringtones/notifications so I was a bit startled, but the returned a few seconds after.
However, the only sounds I can get working are .ogg files, .mp3 do not show up in the lists.
Time to get rootin' I guess but haven't found a root-method yet as I've been so ignorant to install all LG OTA updates and now I'm at software version V20h-EUR-XX.
Actually, having said that, there is a "+" in the top right corner which does see the .mp3 files and enables me to select them.
Sweet. It's worked. Thanks
