When is the phone be ready for SWAC plan? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I wonder how much longer I have to wait for the phone to be available for people under an employee account?

Noone knows my friend. There hasn't been a huge demand for this phone (due to sprint not advertising it) so hopefully it will be sooner than later for you guys

Sprint Sold Us Out! (Iphone Rant)

So sprint finally confirmed that they will be offerring the new iphone but at a serious cost! They have to buy 30.5 million iphones over the next 4 years. Why would you do this sprint? **** they only have 55 million customers now, they would need atleast half of their base to get it plus add another 5 million. But with so many customers leaving monthly why would you invest so much in one device??
Ugh...
I am not gonna lie, I will be getting one but I wont be leaving my EP4T because I love android but I have never owned a Iphone and I want to see what this hoopla is all about.
This thread was just meant for me to talk....lol..... Bored at work....
I've never owned an iPhone either but I'm curious as to what it'll be like. I like trying different things.
It is simple really. Sprint has to get the iPhone if it wants to stay alive. The marker analysis would kill them if they did not and the same goes for Apple.
This has been months in the making, all the changes Sprint has made to contracts, ummmm everyone should have seen this coming. They are selling out because they want to sell and get PAID! Im just hoping we dont end up like At&T that had crap high end phones so they could push the Iphone to anyone looking for a really good phone. Time will tell if they embrace Iphone at the expense of everyone else. I dont hold out hope, but I could be wrong.
I'll never own an iphony. 3.7 inch screen, and no user swappable battery. Unacceptable plus they are made by apple.

True, I dont think I would have bet the company on it though... I mean with the network being as ****ty as it is they would need to boast some serious updates for customers to even recommend coming to sprint. But we will know in a few hours
BGR is also reporting that the iPhone 5 will be exclusive on Sprint for at least a quarter and will include Wimax.

Which doesn't make sense... 4 months of exclusivity would be absolutely useless. They would need 8-10 months at a minimum to seriously poach users from AT&T and Verizon. Seriously... If my contract with Verizon were ending and I only had to wait a couple months to roll into the next iPhone, what incentive do I have to move to Sprint?
Yeah, you might say Unlimited Data... But just wait until the iPhone sheep get onto Sprint's network and find out that they can average a brisk .2-.4mbs as opposed to the 1-3mbs they get on the other guys.
Sprint's announcement had really better include a massive 3G upgrade, or this Apple deal WILL have us all being Verizon customers by default when Sprint goes into bankruptcy....
Rumor is that apple is investing billions in sprint to accelerate the build out of lte .

So long, and thanks for all the ROMs!

Sprint has been frustrating me for the last year, with dropped calls, no service, slow data speeds, when I had amazing speeds, and great coverage from May 2007 - Jan 2011. So, I switched to Big Red. I know it costs more, but I'm getting what I pay for.
The Epic 4G Touch is probably the best phone I've ever owned. And I've enjoyed the support it has received from the talented devs. I really hope Sprint gets its act together, and fixes their network, as I know I'm not the only one who has been complaining about Sprint service.
Maybe I'll be back one day. Keep fighting the good fight. I hope Sprint comes through for you.

I left verizon to go to sprint because my wife didn't want to leave. I struggled for almost 2 years w that crap. I left and went back to verizon recently and we are about to get 4g lte here. I couldn't be happier. Once she comes over I will be paying $20 more a month for vastly different service. Sprint would have been nice had they given what they offered. She has the gs2 also and while its a fantastic phone it is poorly represented on sprints terrible network in my area.
You won't be sad to be paying more. No more mad at the world because I can't receive an mms lol.
I did have to pay to get out of my contract (my phone was the only one with remaining time). I read the ETF fee schedule, and I calculated my ETF at $160. I was hoping to get out of my ETF by using the change in the way Sprint discounts the family plans. I missed the deadline by a few days. However, they said my ETF was $90. And, by buying the phones through Amazon, we saved $400. I'll just put my 4G Touch up for sale, as well as the wife's Evo 4G, and I will more than pay for the cost of the phones, as well as the ETF. I will probably be able to pay most of the first month's bill with that, too.

I take it there is a good back-story with this? I'm not up on my politics in this forum, so you will have to forgive me...
I have E4GT as private phone and iPhone 4S from VZM as a business phone.
I know those are different phones with different hardware/software but I counldn't help to notice that I always have better signal and reception with my E4GT.
In some areas where I don't have reception at all with my iPhone I'm still getting signal on my E4GT.
And I moved to sprint from AT&T 2.5 years ago because in my area AT&T had a worse service/signal ever.
So may be sprint is not a fastest network but so far it was the best for me for area where I leave and where I travel most.

How'd you get them to waive it? My data dips as low as 0.05 mbps on Long Island. It feels like 56k dialup. I don't know how Sprint can legally sell data plans on Long Island. It's soooo bad and it's only getting worse. The tower upgrades did NOTHING.
I really don't want to spend hours on the phone trying to convince 10 different reps to waive the ETF. I'm thinking of just paying the $350 ETF, selling the phone on ebay, and switch to AT&T or Verizon. At least their data works here.
What's the alternative? Keep spending $90/month for a data plan that I can't use? Absolutely ridiculous.

Swamp Goblin is a dev who happens to be looking for an E4GT so he can start working on new ROM goodness for our phones. He's been looking on Craigslist and ebay but don't think he's had any real success yet. There's a thread that explains it all if you want to contact him.

Also I think sextape (again not an inside joke) might be looking for one, but don't quote me on that.
I would go to At&t before Verizon. You know At&t is a union company. If my family didn't work for Sprint that is where i would go. At least you know their employees get treated better.

Thank you devs!!!!

I am moving on to at&t due to data issues but that is not what this is about. This is no "Woe is me!" Farewell to all even though I am no dev and NO ONE CARES! No my friends! This s a big ups to the devs for the time effort and intelligence which is way beyond mine own. You all are amazing and I thank you for the late nights. Thank you for dealing with the 'where's the leak”, “where’s the update" oh and my personal favorites "where's the tar" and or "how is the battery" You do this for the love of the game and deal with so much. You do this for free (donations excepted) even though you have families and other jobs.
You are Mother f'n Rockstars and I hope to see devs like you on the other side.
Peace!
AT&T is great. My sister has them, and I talk to her at least 5 times a week. Granted it happens all in the span of 20 minutes before she gets frustrated and says she'll call later, but you can't say we never talk.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Yea leaving is ok if that's what you want to do but there are so many no contract places to go now I don't think if I leave I will be under contract with anybody else. Especially since AT&T has H2o and your AT&T phone can be placed on their service for half the price. My fam has Simple Mobile which is T-Mobile and honestly his data kills mine and its rather embarrassing. He even gets 4g indoors all for $60 flat a month....
Also not being on Contract will help you jump ship to a company if they come up with a phone you like... Jus Sayin' but good luck out there
I bought this phone specifically to get away from at&t..
Have fun with your 2GB data cap.
Transmission sent from a Galaxy S II, CODENAME style.
I love the ET4G and hated leaving but in my area it was piss poor service. Unlimted data is cool if you can use the data. Mine was that bad. I got the top dog set up with AT&T and due to my discount from work I am paying less so thats cool too.
Like I said props goes outtothe devs for making this devise awesome. Was hoping they would be the one to see this not some clowns who jump down throats because a person who has been with Sprint for 10 years is forced to another carrier due to bad service. BTW my speeds are crazy fast and no dropped signal so that is cool too.
I think that it is a good point though about service providers who you can go with and save. I am month to month now with AT&T thanks to MS for the free phone. BTW Windows Phone is whack. But it does buy me time to look around for otheer options.

Interview with Sprint on Friday - a few questions for any Sprint employees

Hello. I have an interview with Sprint on Friday for a job as a Retail Consultant. I figured i would be great for the job because I have a background in sales, a big fan of Sprint and an even bigger fan of cell phones. I am very excited for the job opportunity. Was just wondering first if there was any advice any current or previous employees could give me on getting hired or do's or dont's or w/e (or any other advice regarding employment by Sprint). Second not to get ahead of my self but was also just wondering what benefits or discounts (ie free lines or early upgrades) I would receive with the job. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Good luck. I wish I could give you a reference but everyone I know at Sprint works at the corporate office and not in retail. So, the only time you would see them is when you read the name of the person who signs you checks.

I worked at sprint for almost 3 years, I now work at Chase, but you should be happy with the position as long as you dont mind retail hours and holidays, and dealing with the most demanding (and arrogant) customers in retail. Lol

I am a father of 3 and the does not work and I make enough to pay our bills in california of all places , so I would have to say it is a viable career, remember that if you do get hired this is corporate and they take care of us better than you average commission based 3rd party retailer benifits 401k stock investment and yes a free personal line for yourself + 30 advantage lines for freinds and fam.
Pretty Viable, but in sales it is about your own skill and dedication that makes it that way.
I'm not surewhat the true differences between corporate and preferred are as I seemingly get what all the corporate wigs get and more at my indirect store. Except for the advantage plus plan lol but truthfully I don't believe I would use it.

You should ask a mod to move this to a general forum for carrier discussion. May be of more interest to a wider user base than just this phone.
So if one was to start a new plan say today and get a phone (say a nexus or e4gt) and wait till June, could they then cancel service and close that plan, then hand the phone off to another friends plan for activation? Basicly geting them a phone at the discounted price? Sounds like one could but don't know all the fine print with all the rules. Will this work without getting hosed or extra fees?
Any feedback other than ethics (sprint pulled one on me a while ago so I have no qualms about a loophole).
wonder if this will work, doesn't hurt to try i guess

The second bullet point stating "This is an Early Termination (ETF) waiver event" is the ace in the hole. Sprint seems to change the Term & Conditions on current contracts about once a year, each time the waiver applies.
Unfortunately, since this will be announced to current customers in May (effective June), it will likely be in the T&C of new customers next week - so not 'grab and go' on new contracts (and you'd be within the 30 return window anyhow). But, if you are upgrade eligible right now and looking to jump ship soon, I would say go for it. Also, even if you are not upgrade eligible, you can use this as leverage to get an early upgrade. This has worked for many people. Note you may have to sign a new 2-year contract, but if you're itching for a Galaxy Nexus, EVO 4G LTE, Galaxy Note(?) or, maybe even the GS3 (if it arrives on Sprint soon enough) this could be your way in. Sprint will always opt to take your $90/mo.
I only wish I still lived in Seattle.
Here's a question... could you ETF your CONTRACT, and go to month to month? I have considered leaving due to total lack of signal at home and my airvana is great, but limping their service along. Anyways, there's not really anything on another carrier I want right now, but I would love options...

ETF waive is termination of service. There's no "limbo".
Buying a phone on contract with the intent to never fulfill the contract is fraud, whether Sprint is changing things or not. If you take advantage of this to score a cheap phone you're not doing any of us any favors.
