So I came across this hack before the ET4G came out and thought it was interesting! Does anyone know if this same hack would work with our Sprint versions? If so this would be amazing!
Thanks
I attempted to install it, but no luck. I'm guessing a bit of modification needs to be made for this to work. I'd love to have this as well!
The camera hack is the only reason why I wanna root! I'm hoping someone will get it to work because coming from the Photon really makes you see how bad the audio of the camera on this is.

Anand's review talks about the 2nd microphone used for noise cancellation. But it seems the Epic 4G Touch is missing this feature.

To be honest that feature on my E3D irritates the hell out of me. When *I* am in a setting on a phone call *I* hear the noise and it's usually very confusing that other people can't...I usually talk louder to compensate for the noise and only get asked "why do you sound like that" or "why are you yelling?"....it is especially effective with the exactl (constant, droning and predictable) type of background noise I work around. Perfect fit? No way, I have old school ears and sensibilities...the fact that someone I am having a conversation with isn't aware of or affected by the same sound that is ruining my day 10 hours a day for years, well, it's hard remember....Screw who I'm talking to, how about a phone that eliminates background noise for me? Besides, if I'm clearly busy (or trying to sound like it) the last thing I need is for my phone to make it seem like I'm in a quiet room with nothing going on.
Cool technology...the very concept of phase cancellation is what fascinated me enough as a child 2 decades ago to study sound, reproduction, recording and engineering in the first place...but...I will not miss it one bit.

Anyone noticed that the BWOne review there was a HDMI adapter while other reviews such as the AndroidPolice didn't come with one? What the heck?
Edit: From AndroidPolice "Yes, it did, but it wasn't in the phone box. It was in a bag, stuck in the shipping box separately. Thus, I didn't mention it in the unboxing."
Mystery solved.
PC World Review
I hear that the HDMI adapter doesn't come with it, at least its not part of whats in the box... speculation though, i am praying it does.
Okay special requests for my review will need to be sent by PM. I will include every request as necessary. So far the only major request I've had is signal comparison. And so far I can say that the Epic Touch is one bar stronger then the Nexus S 4G. I haven't been able to test 4G yet...
Found a couple new unboxing videos. Man my life is lame right now.

haha this **** is just like siri!! thanks bro
I agree! I really like it -- the best was the night we were testing it and my 10 year old walked up and said "Fart" -- the phone responded "You should really learn some manners!"
It doesn't always respond with the same answer, but the look on my kids face was priceless!!
Nice. also jeannie is another app similar to this and pretty good

what's good about beats? seems like it's all hype
So along with the 10+ threads we have about ICS for the international GSII (that don't help us at all) are we gonna see 10+ threads on how Beats can be ported to any Android device now?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525172
and the actual thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226
The download list says it works for samsung devices. I am testing it now.
I really hope this doesn't bring an influx of "does this ROM have Beats?" questions.
It's vastly overhyped and to an extent, the sound quality isn't any better than what you can configure with Poweramp.

Is there a particular reason people don't like Beats? I haven't tried it, but it seems to be immensely popular although I'm sure a lot of that is due to trendiness.

My reasoning is as follows.
On the Beats Audio HW side, it is overprices POS that lives on name brand along, much like BOSE. This is not to say the Hardware is bad, but rather that it is highly over-priced for what you get and can often get better quality for 1/3rd or less of the MSRP if you buy other brands.
As for the SW side of things Beats audio artificially increases the the lower end of the audio spectrum through audio "enhancement" algorithms which actually colors the sound and effects not only the Lower Bass but Mid-bass as well and imho ruins the music. It ruins it by changing the sound signature drastically from the original. Basically from all I have seen through wave-guide charts is that it adds or amplifies all frequencies under 120hz to be at an equal or higher level than the highest output for a single frequency. In short, it makes all music sound heavy in bass whether or not it was the artists original intention.
Can't say that's what I want happening to my music then. Thanks for the fairly detailed explanation.

Is there any such mod for the one X which is comparable to the "pop up play" feature in the SGS3?
This might be a deal breaker for me because i often watch a lot of video on the go to pass the time while travelling, i would like to be able to do other things whilst watching the video at the same time.
Maybe something for devs to work on if they havnt already done it?

Just like IPhone, Samsung Copies it and now everyone thinks It's revolutionary.
It's Nothing new, I've been using it for the last 6 months.
Overskreen- A pop up Browser that you can on top of the screen.
Stick It- A pop up video player which you can use on top of the Screen, And It's much better than Samsung's Pop up play, as you can use it with any media and as many videos at once as you like.

When did i say it was revolutionary? I just liked the idea of being able to watch video and browse the web at the same time. I had never heard of the app because i never activley sought after something like that, when it was announced at the SGS3 event i thought hmm what a great idea, i wonder if anyone else has already done this. Hence the opening line in my OP dumbass

I've had this phone for two weeks now and like the OP, I find new things with it every day. Battery life is great! UI is smooth! I haven't had any issues with it. Only android device I've owned prior to this was a rooted htc hero (sprint). I went to an iPhone for awhile and I'm glad I waited till now to switch back! Once you've got a taste of a big screen. You don't want to go back to anything smaller.
Looking forward to rooting this baby and trying out the different roms!
Also, glad to be back in the xda community! :victory:
Agreed that this phone is awesome. It's honestly the best phone I've ever owned by far. The S-Pen is quite cool as well. I'm always finding uses for it.
BTW, if you haven't checked it out yet, check out Samsung's user guide app for it:

I usually root my phones but I don't think I will on this one, at least not for a while. I don't think it's a good idea anyway because I don't want to have any issues when T-Mobile gets around to pushing and OTA update for LTE.
