Well I have been wanting the TP2 since I've seen the original version but the price is crazy high and including the requirement of the data plan put me off. Unfortunately my tmobile dash just kicked the bucket on me and wont turn back on so im taking this oppurtunity to fulfill my TP2 dreams. Do you know where i can get a two year extension other than tmobile with a cheaper price. I know there are offers like at walmart but would I be able to extend my contract and just change my plan. Also I'm on my sister's account but have a seperate plan.
My experience is going thru retentions always gets you the best deal on a plan, and sometimes a phone as well. They're really not cutting deals on the TP2 yet, because it's so new, but we're bound to see a price drop soon. Especially if Verizon prices their phones at $199.
Going thru rentions got me a myFaves Family Plan w/600 min., unlimited data and texting for $99/mo. Thru the site, a 400 min. plan is $140, so I got a GREAT DEAL.
If you've got a contract renewal coming up, the ball is in your court.
Yo guys! So I'm a few days past my preliminary 30 day trial so to speak, and have the Epic Touch 4g. I love the phone, it's amazing, but I'm sure I speak for many when I say we're all really dissapointed with the antennas on this thing, and sprints coverage in general.
My 3G speeds never go past the 1.5 meg mark, and that in itself is rare. the 4g is non-existant, worse than 3g. At work I roam a good 75% of the time. And to make matters worse, all these rumors about the Touch 4g not supporting this new Rev B adds insult to injury.
So - I remember seeing a few people a while back, when I had the evo 3d (which i traded in for this phone) say they got out of their ETF by pretty much telling Sprint Reps that the recent fee increase voided their contract (i have a link, but since im a new user I cant post the link until i have 8 posts, search around youll find more info on this)
So I'm SERIOUSLY considering attempting this, and just jumping ship and going to another carrier. We only have until the 11th it seems to try and get out of the contract (you have 30 days to attempt this, fee increase was implemented on the 11th of sept i believe).
What do you guys think? Im contemplating sticking around till the 7th to see what the big announcement from Sprint will be, but I doubt whatever changes will be immediate and we'll start seeing better data anytime soon..
Verizon would be great obviously, theyre the fastest out there as far as I know, but of course the most expensive. Att & T mobile I dont know much about, dont know how good their coverage is in my area (las vegas, nv). I get such a good employee discount with sprint, theyre cheap, the phone is great, i just wish we had better coverage!!
we actually have till the 9th, my mistake!
While it is still technically possible you will have to be a bulldog with them. I did it but I set it up nearly a month ago. In that month they've had meetings and been sent memos specifically telling them NOT to let you out and that they don't HAVE to let you out. Not only that, but, the most damning thing: They've had a month of practice dealing with people on the issue which they are instructed (by default) to not let you out.
However if you stick to them, follow up and just make life in general very annoying for them (get names and direct numbers, follow up with the same exact people...that'll get old to them fast) you can still get out...or you can luck out and find one of the few people that didn't get the memo.
EDiT: Derp. If you have the ET4G you agreed to the new contract terms. Even if you were a bulldog and constantly up their ass and got an uninformed CSR you still wouldn't get out
...though I have heard that they will boot you out of contract for roaming too much (00001.PRL, ahem)
It doesn't work anymore. You can call and try to start the process but word is that Sprint is refusing to allow anyone out of the ETF because of the fee increase.
I don't know why it took you this long to realize that the service doesn't work. If it is the phone you should just exchange it for a Motorola Photon. They have great reception.
Eh, its not that I didnt know the service was shoddy, its just I was hoping I would have better service with the epic touch than with the evo 3d, which I kinda am actually, like I said the epic touch roams at work, but the evo 3d would roam A LOT more. Not to mention the horrible call quality
But, like I said, I'm past the 30 days so I cant exchange it for another phone, as far as I know anyway..
A lot of people here would exhange a Motorola Photon for you Epic Touch. They might even throw in a couple of bucks to sweeten the deal. Just ask.
On a side note my reception with the Epic Touch is crappy too. A few roaming and drop calls because of weak signal. My old Photon never had that problem.
I'm good man, I appreciate you trying to help me out, but like I said, I love the phone, and if Im staying with Sprint I think id like to keep this phone.
But if theres a way out, and other people are considering it, it's worth thinking about. I mean Ive read through all the threads on here that constantly complain about sprints service and coverage, but the phone overall seems to be getting rave reviews.
Im guessing you have one and love it as well?
I use the phone more as a multimedia than as a phone. The Photon has a problem displaying natural colors and blacks so I am force to abandon it. If they ever decide to address that problem (which I think is software wise) I would buy the Photon again. The Epic Touch is great as a multimedia device. As a phone, it fails miserably. I tolerate it.
There's no way out, sorry. You should have left within the first 30 days. Your only hope is that you roam enough for sprint to boot you.
Here's how you get out
ETF is $350... phone is worth about $350-$400 on craigslist. Sell the phone, use the money to pay for ETF.. 0 out of pocket. I do this all the time.
If you want to upgrade early: Open up new line and get new phone (evo 3d, epic touch, etc) Sell your old phone (always get a high end phone kept in mint condition) to pay for ETF on old line. You can usually get about $200ish for an old phone, even the EVO 4G still goes for $225 on craigslist. This worked perfectly when ETF was only $200, now it's $350, but it gets prorated I think after the 4th month. The only downside is you lose your # and that's the reason why I only give out my google voice #. So everytime I get a new #, nobody really knows I changed it, I just link it with my google voice #.
His ETF would be $200 because he was already past his 30 days (when he posted/started this thread), which means he started the contract before Sept 9. The $350 ETF only started after Sept 9.
Yeah **** it! I got an airrave on the way for work, where im constantly roaming, so Im just going to tough it out with sprint, if it gets real bad - ill pay the etf and sell the epic touch. Whatsitsname is correct, my ETF is 200 as far as I know, I always keep getting mis-information from sprint reps, but last I was told it was 200. I started service August 20th.
Ill just wait to see what comes out on T Mobile, Verizon, ATT, etc. My buddy has T Mobile and gets pretty consistent 3g speeds, 1.5 - 2 down, and the prices are the cheapest next to sprint as far as unlimited goes. Coverage is decent as well.
Otherwise, Verizon's speeds are awesome, my buddy hits 22 down on his thunderbolt, crazy. Id cancel my internet and just tether all the time if I had those speeds. The prices though.. not so much. Dont know what ATT has in store, I know they have decent 3g and SOME 4g capable phones, im honestly not too informed.
Hmm. I don't exactly want to leave Sprint but do you guys think I could use this as an easier way to get an ET4G from the 3d? I'm so over this 3d but I don't wanna shell out 500 to buy outright.
Lol I took my 3d in after it bonked itself and I want even a sprint customer(at the time) and they found out it was rooted(I played dumb because I got the phone off a friend) and they still bought the phone back for $150 so try and see what happens you never know. Now I did have a girl rep and I may have laid the flirt on(hey don't judge) but still you never know lol

How is it possible to have an Epic Touch and not have a $350 ETF? If he upgraded, he couldn't have done it before the 16th, which was AFTER the ETF was jacked up?
I might have a higher ETF, I have to call in and check, or sprint chat later today..
But I started service on the 20th of august with a 3d, swapped out for the epic touch as soon as it came out on sept 16th, a few days short of my trial 30 days.
I have an epic touch and a 200 etf. Only because I traded a friend though

Lucky loophole.
right! it is indeed 200, sprint rep just confirmed, so I lucked out. Im just going to wait it out with sprint, see what oct 7th brings, and if it gets real bad ill check out tmobile or att... or verizon. although Id prefer to go with something unlimited like t mobile / sprint, even if t mobile caps you.
I have recently been thinking about switching over to t-mo from sprint, but it seems everywhere i look and everyone i talk to says they are really bad.
their value plans seem great and they have a nice selection of phones, so i'm really torn.
so, mighty t-mobile subscribers, mind sharing your opinions? experiences?
I can't complain, I'm really happy with T-Mobile. Im with them for 4 years now, never had any type of problems. Won't be switching anytime soon.
Do the switch, you won't regret it.

I love T-mobile the speeds and coverage are great in Arizona. The only thing that is a drag is the data caps. But even when you reach the cap you can still use internet albeit at edge speeds. Other than that you won't regret it. The caps have different price ranges. 100mb, 2gb, 5 gb, and 10gb.
I switched from att and won't go back . I guess it's all in who you talk to . Someone with great coverage will say they rock . Someone with bad coverage will say that they suck .

I love Tmobile, I've been with them since Voice Stream, and they haven't done anything to me. Coverage is pretty good in my areas too.
been on tmo for about 3 yrs and cant say i have much negativity to speak customer service is good, plan prices are great and probably has the best android phone selection out, I do see you're in fl like me so to be honest for coverage it depends on where you're at my worst reception has probably been in ocala would have 0 bars in some areas but would walk a few steps n have full bars but the great thing about tmo has been the wifi calling option which i so hope to god they hurry and update it to this phone fast, that's in case you don't have a strong signal but do have internet wifi where you are it'll switch and use the wifi signal instead of you're weak carrier signal
i love them because there affordable and pretty much everything else is great too.
Over a decade here and the only problem will be if AT$T is allowed to buy them out.

I switched to T-Mo from Sprint too & I don't regret it. I do sometimes miss being on my mom's family plan & only having a $45 phone bill every month, but my data speeds on T-Mo are at least 10 times faster and I get MUCH better signal almost everywhere I go so it's worth it. I also underestimated the convenience of switching phones with a mere sim swap, and I can't say a SINGLE bad thing about T-Mo's customer service either. Every time I call I get an english-speaker who is polite & helpful, and who doesn't feel the need to call me by my first name all the time or waste time thanking me profusely after every sentence. With Sprint, half of the reps were rude, and the other half were either completely clueless or else they had such unintelligible accents that I was better off going to a store if I had a problem. The only bad thing about T-Mo is the data caps, but I've heard you can get around those by using a different APN(which seems to be working so far, and I guess I'll find out for sure if I get throttled this month). Sprint does have unlimited data, but its SO s l o w...
But- it all depends which service is best in your area.
I switched from T-Mobile (after like 7 or 8 years) being with them to goto Sprint to get the Evo 3D. Was the biggest mistake I ever made. T-Mobile was always willing to subsidize me a phone every year with customer loyalty. Sprint had 25kbish download in 90% of my area, they tore up me and my wife's contract after being with then for about 1 1/2 months. Came back to T-mobile, and couldn't be happier!
Sprint's data network is garbage, and the company itself is far more evil than T-Mobile.. look at their past practices. Getting rid of the Premier program. Offering unlimited under their prepaid brands at really low prices only to cap it and raise the prices later. $10 bogus premium data fee. etc. SLOW 3G, lies about 4G WiMAX being their choice over LTE.. we all knew WiMAX was going the wayside and now it finally has.
I have had all tge major carriers in the past 3 years and tmobile is definitely the best for me here in buffalo. Its cheap. Their data is actually fast unlike sprint and verizon (sprint 3g speeds are a joke and so is wimax).
Also even after tge merger was abnounced, they keep building new towers and expanding their network

T-Mobile is great man. I've been with them 9yrs already and feel im treated fair. I'd like cheaper prices, but this is America, land of the fee, home of the slave.
Deebo took your bike too?
7 years here, and no real complaints. I've lived in major cities the whole time, so coverage has been fine. I do notice that it can be more spotty in rural areas, but not so much as to frustrate me. And the prices are great.
Look into the Value plans. You don't get a "subsidized" price on the phone (so you end up paying full retail, though it can be split up over many, many months), but even then, because Value plans are $20 less per month than Classic plans (which "subsidize" the phone price), you still pay less per month with the Value plan and end up saving overall in the long run. (I put "subsidize" in quotes because this system makes it transparent that with standard plans, you're not really getting the phone for cheaper... the company just takes it out of you piece by piece each month).
For some reason, this concept is difficult for some people to grasp (think average not-so-bright customer who you often see paying their bill in the t-mo store), and they just think it's ridiculous to pay retail for the phone, even in divided payments. I encourage anyone looking at starting a new plan on T-mo or renewing a contract to take 2 minutes and calculate your total cost over contract with each plan.
stick with Sprint and use the employee discount. $109 for family plan and $10 premium for smartphones
I had a great plan with sprint. 3 free landline #'s unlimited, 25% discount, and unlimited text data, 750 minutes and 200 extra bonus minutes.
I still decided to leave them this month because they suck that much. I was with sprint for 7 years. They just have crappy service. The data was never good since the Evo dropped. I used to get 2mb down and lately I was getting less than 50k download. They weren't willing to fess up on why this was happening and kept saying I should be getting bad service. I also noticed that where ever I went, I never had good service and my battery would drain because it was barely holding on to the connection with the towers. I have had every one of sprints smartphones and although they have a good lineup. Service is just not good and data is the worst I have expereinced other than Metro PCS which is 1x. I recently moved and went from bad service to horrible service. I couldn't get calls and my data would time out due to being so slow. Called sprint to see if they would cancel me and they said NO and you have to pay a cancellation fee. I gladly did and not looking back. It's great over here with t-mobile. Data is capped but it's fast and reliable.
Sprint is also going to take away unlimited broadband. It's just a matter of time for their crappy data service to be throttled also. Check out their Iphone forums and see the amount of complaints regarding data. 60+ pages of complaints. The iphone is going to make a already hurting service and just destroy it.
I switched from Tmobile to sprint because my contact was over and my wife was on sprint. we had nothing but problems. So we ended or context and switched back to Tmobile. Not a single problem since.Tmobile is not the devil, sprint is.

Like other people said it all depends on tmobiles coverage in your area. If u have hspa+ in ur area be prepared for data speeds u have never seen on sprint i have been with tmo for 9 yrs and have never considered leaving. Imo tmo for the price is the best and until something changes i will remain a tmo customer.

I have been with them for 7+ years and never a problem. Customer service is always willing to work with me. It will suck if the merger goes thru with ATT.
Unilimieted is german for Unlimited! LOL
Hi!
I have been on ATT for a long time and still have their unlimited data plan.
I was hoping for feedback on Tmobiles unlimted data plan.
I currently pay about $85 with taxes etc for my plan (and that is because of a $20 discount I get from work!) but as you may now, ATT BS Unlimited means that after 5GB my speed drops to about .5MB!
So I dont want to give any more money to such a BS Bullying company...so I was surprised to read about a $70 plan by Tmobile that offers NO speed drops.
Is this for real?
I was about to get a Note 3 by Tmobile to use on ATT (yeah because of another BS move by att locking the bootloader) and now I am thinking of just changing companies when my contract expires next year.
So any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks!
It's real.
There was a problem with speed some of us had, but they got it fixed. If you have good Tmobile coverage in your area, they are a good choice.
The only real reason to be on Att is if you don't get good coverage with t mobile. Other than that they are great. I am on their 2.5 gb plan because I am dirt poor

I went by their store today and I really liked what they are offering so I am going to check at work what kind of coverage coworkers get (work sucks for ATT mostly) and I am dropping ATT. I dont care if I have to pay $205 as I was told today to cancel early. I rather do that then pay for their ****ty service tactics for a whole extra year!
My Note 2 is unlocked so I should be able to use it with TMobile as well.
Thanks guys!
During football season, my use skyrockets, due to sunday ticket. Over 8 gigs last month

Oh yeah I am never close to that! My biggest was 12GB and I was in Puerto Rico on vacation so my phone was my internet at the time, but normally I am from 5 to 8GBs so yeah, I am for sure changing. Just need to decide if I end ATT early and pay the fee. Also if I keep the Note 2 I have and use it with Tmobile or sell it to try getting a Note 3..etc.
I ended att contract early due to their bs throttling and switched to tmob. Couldn't be happierr, just do it already .

Just not sure if I should sell my Note 2 and get the Note 3 from them using their payment plan thing which of course ends up paying a lot more for the phone than buying it used i guess, or just keep the Note 2 and use it with them. Guess that is all I need to figure out

Sell your Note 2 and just buy a "like-new" or new T-Mobile Note 3 off of eBay. That's what I did when I made the switch from AT&T over to T-Mobile.
I just bought another brand new S4 off of eBay for $455 and no tax. T-Mobile's full price is $600 (I just checked) but a few weeks ago when I bought it, it would have been like $650 from T-Mobile directly. I don't get why people would finance through T-Mobile and end up paying extra when you can buy the exact same thing on eBay (brand new) and easily save $150 - $200. Then you don't have that higher bill either. This is what I do each time I get a new phone. I sell the old one, and then I just pitch in the $150 - $200 required to get the newer/latest and greatest model.

Buying a T-Mobile phone off ebay is a risky option. You could end up buying a phone that was on the EIP plan and ends up not being paid by the seller/owner of the phone you just bought.
I ended up buying a N3 off EIP and will sell my current iphone to pay some of it off . Then I will pay off the rest of the balance in a month or two.
I have read some horror stories about blacklisted T-Mo phones that were sold to unsuspecting buyers. I was not going to risk it.
Well I normally just check the IME. Like one local seller was doing one cheap, checked the IMEI and it has not been paid fully so...no go for me
Eghh, I just buy brand new sealed phones off eBay. Check the IMEI then when it comes in. I've never had problems buying from reputable sellers on eBay.
I bought D851 from swappa and its coming Thursday this week, I would like to know if MetroPCS would work if the phone is locked tmobile..? Do I need to get it unlocked? I wanted to use it on $60 plan
Any reason why you wouldn't do the T-Mobile prepaid?

Why would you choose metro over t mobile?
Because I'm born deaf then got hearing aid implant, I rarely talk on the phone so I text and use data more. $60 seems good for me rather than $30 plan 5GB since I am out of the house a lot. I'm not used to being on the phone and talk to people because they say something and I don't hear them well so I always needed someone by my side for it. I've been testing on MetroPCS and I was seeing if $30 5GB was good for me but I don't know. I'm sorry if its a bother. Its first time buying a unlocked phone I've saved up for outside of my family's contract plan.
I'm on the MetroPCS $60 Plan. I had no problems using the phone. I was coming from Sprint.
The first t mobile store I went to wouldn't sell me the phone unless I signed up for T-Mobile service. I even got corporate customer service on the office with them, telling them that I could buy the phone without contract.
I ended up leaving, went down the street to a car toys store, and bought the phone for $50 less then the T-Mobile price.
I went into a mwtropcs branch, paid $10 for as sim card, and ported my number from Sprint.
Great coverage in my area (metropcs uses t Mobile towers).
The t mobile phone comes unlocked, so you shouldn't have any problems. Only thing to note is that each version of the g3 has different radios. So the t mobile version might not have as good of coverage on at&t's network.

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply, I was worrying a lot but you gave me a relief. I bought the T-Mobile G3 in mint condition for good price without original box as the seller have good ratings on swappa, but it hasn't even arrived today because USPS wasn't updating much on the phone tracking and got all the way to Florida passing my state from New York. I live in Virginia and I gotten really upset, I was like never again with Swappa.. I never had any issues with eBay but I was wary about that.. Thank you so much for your reply though. Both of my phone case and sim card coming in now I will have to wait for it tomorrow tomorrow or the weekend, sigh. :crying:
