I have seen in a bunch of threads where people talk about the % of their battery and how it drops from 100 to 90 right when they take it off of the charger...how do they know that? The only time I can see the battery % is when it is plugged in. What am I missing?
There are Widgets on the market to show you the percentage and some roms have it included or need to manually turn it on like cm6..

Can you name a good one? Something that is monitoring battery power seems like it would drain the battery more?
You could install the smoothsense theme which comes with a custom battery icon that has percentage in it
Are there any apps that work?

Battery indicator pro, batstat widget, or if you're rooted you could flash a battery icon mod onto your stock rom like what I use in my attached file.

Thank you. Do I just put the apk on my phone and run it?
battery status can be found in the market...good percentage indicator and free too
"Battery monitor" off the market is very good. Epic comes with it, so I dl'd it for my Evo and it's very good. Free too.
I made a version of something like Haus's battery code. Mine are round and have indiviual % (100, 99, 98...3,2,1)
Green: 30-100%
Orange: 15-29%
Red: 0-14%

Just flash it. (It will replace your current framework-res.apk)

Not sure if this is possible but I would pay to see an app/mod that allows only the status bar to be displayed when the screen is off. I had Pandora hang on me this morning with a black screen and just the status bar visible and it showed all the info I need to know at a quick glance. Hope this is the right section, debated on weather this should be in the General section but mods move if you wish.
So you wanna shut off 95% of the screen only? Highly unlikely.

With the Super AMOLED Plus display, black color = pixel off (screen off for that part) so If there is way to wake the screen and show a black screen with just a notification, what the OP wants IS possible... I think some apps have the ability to wake the screen, i think the issue is the lock screen would show, no?

There is something for the Nexus S becasue it doesn't have the LED light. I think it's called "no led" or something similar on the Market. It will display notifications on the screen while the phone is sleeping.
+1, Just get NoLed from the market...

I had that app for my NS4G and thats not what I want nor did it work very well.
But NoLED is where I got the idea from. If they can display that info why can't someone write an app that displays just the notification bar?
Thank you japper88 for clarifying the screen tech to the 2nd poster.
A black background for all but the notification would be fine but a) the lockscreens gonna show unless you find a way to disable it completely which would then go straight to your homescreen and b) i wouldnt think you could keep 95% of the screen off which is what your asking to do isnt it? If so i dont care what screen you have i highly doubt thats possible.
Maybe modding the lockscreen with a black wallpaper and removing the clock would work.

Again, when the screen displays black #000000 the pixels are off. That is the beauty of the SAMOLED+ screen. It is also like that with the SAMOLED used in the NS4G. It is possible to do what I'm asking. Just need some direction from another section on this board witch is what I'm doing. I will post here when I get it working.

Seeing as how some were concerned with burn-in/didn't want the status bar I'm releasing a first step towards it.
The status bar has been removed, however apps don't seem to reclaim it. I'll be working on this tonight/tomorrow and post any updates on it.
This is for Bigxie's v1 version of JB.
Update:
Adding a fullscreen version that permanently remains fullscreen after 2-3 force closes (There's only a few but they stop after a minute or two and I've yet to have any issues with anything else though I haven't extensively tested it).
XDA is having issues with photos for me, screenshot is here: http://postimage.org/image/yx6en8kif/
FullScreen Mode: http://multiupload.biz/0y10uw1bgdgh/FullScreen Mode_MultiUpload.biz.zip.html
And for those with issues:
Standard JellyBean:

one questions: are only the icons removed or the hole status bar includig the black background?
the status bar doesn't burn in. the rest of the screen just loses brightness, whereas the status bar is black and doen't emit light. the oleds in this section and in the softbutton-section don't lose brightness because they aren't used that much. that's crappy, cause it is pretty good visible after just a couple of months of usage.

The whole status bar is gone, you can't even slide it down or anything. Also could you elaborate on the losing brightness part please?
Also if anyone else has ideas I'm willing to try them. Causing the SystemUI to crash it enters the correct full screen for a min or two, but that isn't permanent nor ideal.
especially the blue subpixels lose brightness the older they get. entering fullscreen mode, let's say watching a movie, shows, that the status bar and onscreen buttons area are more blue than the rest of the screen. this is because these areas weren't used that much.
samoled is very crappy when it comes to longevity. especially for power users it's really bullsh... i had it on every samsung samoled so far. only omnia 7 with windows phone doesn't show these "burned icons" because it's mostly running in full screen, except you touch the status bar, then the icons pop in.
Lol sorry to say but after reading this thread ... I'm just as confused as the box boy in your phones background... =\ not going to try this one...

I've seen a couple of requests like that one. Notifierpro apparently lets you (I've never tried it) and my curiosity as to how to actually remove the status bar lead me to this. (I'm not so worried about the burn in, and will leave my status bar there, I just know a couple of people seemed to want it gone to remove burn in)
Why not hide it with Nova/Apex launcher?

Because it will come back whenever you go into any other app. I don't care for this mod, but can see its use for some.

I might be able to make an app do it, to swap out the SystemUI.apk when toggled. idk if you can do that with the phone running though.
hi matt
just installed your Full Screen mod
and my Gnex is never starting (stays on bootloop)
I have the Jelly Belly V2 ROM
any idea ?

Probably isn't compatible with Jelly Belly V2.
I've only tested it on bigxie's v1
strange as it it is system.apk or system UI if I'm right , so must be the same on JB ROMs
I wanted to start a separate thread so we didn't clog up the other thread. This thread is strictly for bugs/issues:
After updating through Kies to 4.1.2. The eyeball icon, which indicates that you are looking at the screen, will not shut off. It stays on all the time. Even after rebooting.
Anyone else seeing this or any other issues?
EDIT: I've attached a screen shot
After rebooting, I went into Settings > Display > Features and truned off Smart Rotation and Smart Stay. This gets ride of the eyeball icon but I'd like to have those enabled.
Looks like the icon always stays in the statusbar now. i noticed it will blink from light grey to white

Yep, did some searching and found this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...2-update-whats-new-what-have-you-noticed.html
Guess I'll just have to get used to it being there.
pull the battery and then boot up and uncheck smartstay
For me the phone was very sluggish after the update/reboot. Took about 10 minutes to work itself out. Seems fine now except that I now have a problem that others previously complained about before the update. Opening up Gallery it takes close to a full minute for the albums to appear. Once they are there browsing images is fine and seems quite normal. Close Gallery and reopen right away and it's fine. Close it, wait 5 minutes and then reopen and it's like before, the top bar of the Gallery is there but the albums are blank for close to a full minute.

My phone was pretty sluggish too after the initial update. After a few minutes and a couple of reboots it was back to normal.
Haven't had any issues with the gallery though
Anyone having any issues with adding/removing apps from the multiwindow bar? Mine seems frozen. Don't have problems launching apps from the bar, but can't add or remove apps.
Has anyone figured out how to change the status bar to black? Its supposed to be in this update.

Try rebooting a few times and doing a battery pull when the phone is off. Seems to be back to normal for me but I could be imagining it

I installed xposed framework and modules for per app dpi and tablet ui. The one for tablet ui makes system ui fc every few minutes and the status bar disappears. Also jedi 5 x 5 launcher works with the update

This is pretty annoying
just install Internet speed meter app, it'll be more useful
Any app that shows a persistent notification will bump the ATT text off the screen. You are simply replacing ATT with another icon. ATT will show during a reboot, but once the app starts it will bump the text. For me it's the profile manager called "phoneweaver".
If you want to remove ATT and have no other icon / data, that's another kettle o fish that requires more in-depth rom customization - beyond my pay grade.
goodluck rooting this phone then
Nova can do it.

GSAM battery widget has an option for a noto bar battery (defaults far left). This hides the logo But you get an extra countdown on power.

Nova can hide the notification bar under "Look and Feel" in settings, but AT&T is still on it when viewable.
