I was recording some 1080p video earlier when my phone decided it didn't want to record anymore. I am not rooted and I'm using the stock camera application. It recorded for approximately 15-20 seconds and then gave the message "The camera has stopped working ". The entire camera program crapped out and started acting weird. I shut off the screen and woke it back up and was able to get into the camera again. I recorded approximately 1 minute of video before this happened again. I have not been able to duplicate the problem again. Afterwards I recorded a video over 3 minutes long in 720p without any issues. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem?

So your saying you tried to record again on 1080 for over a minute and you couldn't get it to do this again?
I tried recording for about a minute and a half. I was at work and my break was over so I haven't had a lot of time since then to try to reproduce it. I will try again in the morning when I get up to see if I can make it stop working again. I know trying to get it to mess up with an attempt in a minute and a half isn't much, but considering it messed up twice while under a minute I thought it was significant.

When the option to record for mms, normal, or what ever the last one is... What do you choose?
Check your internal memory/sd card
A 5 min 1080p video is almost 1gb
Ive taken a few long videos without a problem...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I chose normal. I have approximately 2gb available on my sdcard. That would make sense if it recorded less time the second time it stopped working but it didn't, it actually recorded 2-3 times longer the second time than the first.

OK I had a chance to mess with this some more today. I had 1.7Gb free on my sdcard. According to the camera I had 14 minutes and 10 seconds of record time remaining. I recorded in 1080p for 44 seconds before the camera app gave the message "recording failed" and then crashed. I deleted the 44 second video and recorded for 7 minutes without a problem.

Take it to sprint, since nobody else seems to have this problem, it may be hardware related

Could be, it's a class 4 16Gb. I recorded several (5+) videos today without incident. I will try it with the internal memory.

when froyo ota was first released I installed it and everything was fine but I kept having problems with youtube. some videos would play but most would say sorry this video cannot be played. I did a factory reset and still got the same problem. the only change i have done is the move any apps2sd mid. could this be the cause. as anyone else experienced this?
Same thing here. I don't think it's anything you have done, the app just sucks. I had a HTC Hero with 1.5 with this problem. Then, upgraded to 2.1 and the problem was gone. Now, with HTC Desire I'm having the same problem again with 2.2. The videos usually start playing if you keep hitting 'play' for a few times, but they might also stop while playing.. Very annoying.
I wonder how widespread this problem is?
Looks like almost everybody with 2.2 have this problem (including me)
yeah me too

has anyone tried using a 2.1 youtube.apk on a 2.2 rom?
Try turning off HQ. Anything I wanted to watch on youtube kept throwing up the same error but once I turned off HQ it worked fine for me.
At least its not just me then. Disabling high quality is no good to me. It helps to play the video but it looks and sounds a lot worse.
I hope they fix this somehow.
Yup, HQ disabled fixes this, but its not very usable solution...

I would try if you tell me where to get it.
I have the same problem and after observing it it seems it tends to happen when the data connection is not so good.sometimes my wifi drops and I can see when it happens looking at the lights on the modem.when I am on gprs videos don't play generally when the signal bars go down.

My connection is perfect. But it still happens so I'm certain its the app.
I dont think that its because of the connection too. In my case it always happens at the near end of a video that it stops playing and an error appears.
Is it just me or have this new radio rom 32.46.00.32U_5.10.05.17_2 fixed this playback problem? Just flashed it in my LeeDrOiD 2.0a and tested few videos. Not a single fail/errors yet after 10+ randomly selected videos. Can someone test this too?

If I where u I'd wait a few days and let us know how it is. Because when I factory reset my froyo it works fine for a few hours then the problem starts again.

I was already running this rom with 2 older radios, and both had this issue. I'm not saying this new radio fixes it, but I really hope so.
Anyways, I continue testing and will report if there's errors or not.

I flashed the new radio but i still got the problem. Im using the official froyo rom.
The lag happens every 3-5 seconds. It just freezes for a second and then continues. I actually started noticing this lag in CM10 and I went back to stock because of this, but the lag is still here. Anyone else getting this?

What do you mean you went back to stock? Stock or stock custom ROM? Just confirming its lagging while your recording video or while your playing back the recorded video?

I'm on a rooted stock rom. After about 45 seconds, the video starts to stutter while recording, and during playback, the video stutters at the same spots where it studdered during recording. This seems to happen with all the roms I try. I'm starting to think that this might be device specific?

That definitly sounds like a hardware issue. I have perfect recording and playback. Check with where you got the phone from. If its under warrenty, you should have it covered for free.

Nope, I have everything checked twice. I noticed when i upload my music to dropbox the quality is not stuttering. But when I copy my songs directly from my pc trough usb to my note then the problems are gong to come up.

Funnily enough, I noticed a stutter on some music tracks today when using the default music player.
My mp3's are stored on a 64gb class 10 SanDisk sd card if that makes any difference.
I'm using player pro ... for my music player ... and I had this happen once .. but it was some bad mp3 files .. Blahhhhhhhhhh

I'm having this issue too using the beta of n7player. Don't know if it's player's fault (youtube audio seems fine), or it's something related to custom kernel/rom :S

Possible, but i'm still running stock kernel, rom and radio. I think i'm going to the store and maybe they send my phone for repair. I'll keep you guys up to date
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Mmm, just noticed, mine is a bluetooth issue, motivated most likely by the custom kernel/rom I'm running..., the shuttering gets worse if I move away from the phone, anything beyond a couple of meters == no sound at all.
im having this problem also
i havent identified why it is but im getting alot of dalvikvm concurrent and for_alloc freed in my logs
things i've tried:
overclocking
set the minimum to 500 mhz
changed cpu govenor
another music player(winamp)
removing any games that i've installed
and then i flashed it with a custom rom, and i still get lag spikes ;/
http://pastebin.com/XQJNyVng
the lag comes when the dalvikvm shows up in log
i notice that it only happens when the screen is off
auto memory manager (play store) and set "empty apps" to 250 - its better but still Some stuttering
The auto memory manager fixed my probleem! I'm glad it fixed the laggy songs! Thanks!

Hi,
Read on one of the threads that when you transfer songs in bulk to the SGN2, they stutter, but if you transfer in batches of 5-6, the same songs play well.
yeh same problem here with stock music player :/
I have the same problem using the stock ROM and music player.
The stuttering seems random, and I have plenty of free memory (~750MB free).

yeh for me it is also random, sometimes i have listened for 2 hours music without stutters, later i get 1-3 stutters at one song. Especially i get stutters when screen is off or surfing the net. Noticed stutters at 4.1.2 firmwares, hadnt any problems with 4.1.1

Hmm I'm back to this problem. Stock Rom/Kernel. I'm rooted now.
Used the memory manager but the issues are still there. It's really weird. Did put them one at another on my SDcard trough USB.
When I zip my files put them on Dropbox and download them from my Dropbox then there is no problem..
Almost would think that the drivers are screwing the songs up in 320kbps.

Anyone has isues where the video playback on youtube, and videos in internal/ external sd getting random, split second stutters? Happens every 45 to 60 seconds and if u blink u will miss it, but its definitely there.
I dont have power saver mode on, and i switched to art , still there. I flashed custom rom, still there.
I dont get the stutter on any other process, even when i play intensive games for long periods of time.
Im starting to think its a hw issue.

I have watched a lot of youtube videos on the youtube app(Both wifi and mobile data) and I can't recall ever having any stutter problems.
I did however experience some stutter issues when watching from other embedded video sources(For example, fairytail.tv) though it doesn't happen as often as you state. Saw it only a couple of times every other episode. Don't know if it was as a result of the device or general connectivity issues.
