No...absolutely not. It would be the same as flashing a Vibrant or Captivate ROM. Total brick. There are hardware differences.

That's exactly what our miui build is. A hacked up build from different galaxy devices. But no, you would probably soft-brick

I don't know about the Skyrocket but if you flash a galaxy S2 rom you're gonna brick your device. There's been a few members who posted this already.
It is the same device minues LTE so in theory it would work. I know they have flashed our roms with no brick only issues would be APN settings. I am not a dev so i could be wrong
Only the Telus matches enough.
So yes or no

No. You would need some kinda conversion tool or something like that
Oh ok thats alright i thought id ask ya now
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You can. You will then need to edit it to fit the tmobile settings

It's not that bad.
Just need to flash a kernel, modem, and replace a gps.conf, and you should be fine and dandy.
The reason why I say a modem is because of the whole LTE thing, I wouldn't want it to screw anything up on your devices. I know for a fact we can flash your modem, our conversion script doesn't include a modem, so we can use your modem, don't know if it's vice-versa.
There are skyrocket roms in the dev section, safe to flash

Can u please give me the names of them and the instructions
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
They are the same phone except the radio they use. So obviously would need minor tweeking but im sure you could flash with no issue..
My question is why? I just looked at their dev section and they have all the same things we do..
Flash the skyrocket rom you want then flash the zip in this thread right after.

I had a Galaxy SII Epic touch then switched to ATT got the skyrocket. I had roms from the Epic touch on my card. I selected the wrong rom, one for the epic not the skyrocket and bricked my phone. Sent the phone to mobletechvideo and had it unbricked. Super fast turn around good service. I recommend it! http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/contact/
I apologize. I can't seem to find where to download the stock kernel for the sprint gnex. Using Franco's kernel and love it, but my batter life is suffering so I'd like to give the stock kernel another swing.
Thanks

Define stock ICS. Stock as in Google's vision, or Samsung/T-Mobile's? If the second, yeah.
What? Why did you tell them no?
You don't need to root at all you just download Samsung Kies on your PC or Mac.

What do u mean? Question is not clear. If you are asking about getting ICS on phone without root then yes you can via samsung kies.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I think the OP meant vanilla ics. In which case you would need to root your phone to flash the custom ROM as TMobile nor Samsung is going to release AOSP for our phones.

Sorry yea i meant vanilla ics, without touchwiz.

Questions go in the Q&A section
Tell me if I'm wrong...
but, I'm looking at the notes for installing CWM and root here using odin and it doesn't look like you need root to flash CWM via odin.
Could he/she not install CWM w/o root and then flash a non-root rom (non-existent at the moment, sure, but new CM9 is not rooted by default for security).
So, unless there is something I don't know, then is there any reason that he/she couldn't do as I described?
Honestly, I'm thinking of working on an AOSP rom w/o root for security reasons. I'll have to look into it to see if it's worth it, because, honestly, I've never done it. I mainly just want a reason to get into some C hacking.
Is rooting the t-mobile samsung galaxy s2 SGH-T989 the same concept of rooting the sprint samgsung galaxy s2 sph-D710? Does the sim card affect rooting process or is it thr same concept? Download mode and odin.....
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Same concept(s). Processes and techniques.

I would read the T989 forums on how to root. Don't want you to cause a brick.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I have done both and really its pretty much the same. Do not use roms from one for the other though. Also idk how but they have radios from completely different phones. Like the note. You may want to ask in their forums if you run into problems though. The only thing I had a problem with was contacts and that was only on aosp roms.

I looked at the at&t s2 android development and it seems like there's a lotta nice roms. Just wondering if I could flash any of them, since specs for both phones are basically the same.
Yeah just make sure its for the skyrocket and you'll most likely need the rotation fix
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
Yup, might feel a little different on this phone but it'll work. http://www.qfpost.com/file/d?g=RAQsQzdQ1
Download that file, flash after any skyrocket ROM.
