sd ext4 problems - Desire General

I am trying to make a ext4 partition on sd to use a2sd but with no success.
I have 3 sd..
I can create on all of them a fat32 partition + ext4 partition.
On 2 sd (4gb and 8gb) the phone does not go beyond the splash screen. Sometimes appair "quietly brilliant" animation but make the animation forever.
On 1 sd (2gb) it work perfect.
I have tried both gparted and RMD recovery to partition all sd.
I have s-off and hrev7 r2 hboot.
Any idea ?

Flash the ROM again from scratch for the new cards.

Gparted.... Primary partition FAT32 - 7 gb for example
Then make EXT 3 or 4 (depends on your rom) @ 1 gb for example
Put all your files back on sd card
Flash rom from recovery
DONE
That's all you need to get apps2sd working
Just make sure you always have PRIMARY FOLLOWED BY EXT
Having a swap is up to you - I personally don't notice difference with or without it

Gparted.... Primary partition FAT32 - 7 gb
EXT4 - 1 gb
recovery -> wipe all, wipe every single voice and wipe all again
recovery -> flash the rom
reboot
... don't work (on 4gb and 8gb sd).. it work only on 2gb sd
recovery -> format sd card 1gb ext4, so it create 7gb fat32 + 1gb ext4
recovery -> wipe all, wipe every single voice and wipe all again
recovery -> flash the rom
reboot
... don't work (on 4gb and 8gb sd).. it work only on 2gb sd
With RA-desire-v2.0.0 recovery
RA-desire-v2.0.0 -> format 1gb ext2 -> convert to ext3 -> convert to ext4
RA-desire-v2.0.0 -> wipe all, wipe every single voice and wipe all again
RA-desire-v2.0.0 -> flash the rom
... it work on 8gb sd card
why ?

Personally, I'd check for bad sectors on the two sd cards that are not working
Sounds like bad sd cards.... no other obvious reasons

not all the recoveries works..few only like amon_ra, cwm 2.5.0.7(not for pvt4), maybe the latest 5.0.2.0..maybe some 3.x (not all). some 4.x..the others one are bugged (even if sometimes its works, maybe in some worst condition its fails)!!!!
a recovery need only to works..choice a recovery and use always that recovery..stop
people try every day a new recovery, untill a day something don't work and they say like you..why?
in addition, if ur rom need a ext4 u should know that every cmw recovery (except the 5.x) will convert ur sdext to ext3 when u wipe it!!!!!

Totally agree with BigMrB and andQlimax.

D2EXT partitioning issues!

hi! this is really doing my head in.
I have a 16gb card, im using gpart on ubuntu to partition the card as follows:
fat32: 13.53
ext4: 1
ext4: 299mib
swap: 108mib
after my phone doesnt recognise it, i cant turn the phone on, i cant flash anything in recovery because of an "e can't mount" error.
when i plug it into windows it says it need to be formatted, and if i go to disk manager and try formatting the fat32 part it ends up formatting the 1gb ext4 so when i set everything up on my phone i only have 1gb sdcard space!!
if anyone can let me know why this is all happenning i would greatly appreciate it! is there something im missing in the process?
thanks.
EDIT: the system does boot but it says i have a blank sd
then i get a notification saying: UIDs on the system are inonsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable.
with a button that says: i'm feeling lucky :L
You only need 2 partitions. 1 extra and 1 fat32. Fat32 needs to be the first primary partition and extra needs to be the second primary partition. You don't need a swap either. You could just boot into recovery and do it in there but that's only ext3 but you could still use gparted to upgrade it to ext4.

Just partition it in recovery to fat + 1ext partitions, then download SD align tool from Baadnewz blog which will align ext partition and will convert it to ext4

aurora rom flash

hi i have a desire with the cm7v2 hboot .
i am trying to flash the aurorav3 rom on to it ((http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1268279)
but i cant get passed the splash screen
i did a full wipe before flashing the rom
what is wrong with it ?
Do you have the correct ext partition?
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
yea ext4 1gb
How did you do it?
I had huge troubles with that when I was using external programs like Easeus and Mini Partition Wizard.
Use CMD - it's pretty simple and really quick.
booted off a linux live cd and used the partition manager in ubuntu
Partition your sd card in CWM (if you use CWM) and it will work, i come from MIUI rom and i had 1 gb ext4 and i repartitioned with CWM to 512mb (big mistake, put 1gb ext4 )
It's highly recommend to always use either gparted or your recovery to partition your SD card. Other programs don't work well and can mess your SD card.

Use GParted.

Can't detect ext3 partition

I have a 32GB card. Was using CM7 with scripts mounted for 280 MB internal memory. Wanted to change ROM so.
1. Reflashed CWM (didn't flash the boot.zip before reflashing CWM)
2. Wiped everything
3. Installed another ROM (3 ROM's actually )
Now I just can't locate the ext3 and swap partition on any software including Paragon or Gparted. It's like the partition just got lost. Any help will be appreciated.
Have you partitions with unallocated space or is the sd card so big like it be? For example, that the SD-Card has 32 GB in gparted or paragorn?

[Q] 4EXT recovery format SD-EXT help

When I format my SD-EXT on 4EXT it erases all my information on my SD-card. When I try to install Runny Rom v5.5 it gets stuck on the SD partition part. I do a battery pull and check my SD card and all my files are gone
You don't say if you have two partitions on your SD card or not. You've got to have two partitions otherwise you won't have it working properly. The first one should be normal FAT32 and the second one EXT3 or EXT4 depending on the requirements of the ROM you want to flash. The best way to achieve this is to use gParted on a normal PC. Then you can use 4EXT on your phone to manipulate the SD-EXT part of your SD card, eg formatting it or converting between different types of EXT partition. This is the part where your apps data, cache, actual apps, dalvick cache etc. will be kept depending on your settings. Leave FAT32 partition alone.
If you are installing your ROM from the phone then the necessary file should be placed in FAT32 partition. Just remember the path where you copied it. You will need this when you use 4EXT to install the zip file.

Make sure you have two partitions: FAT32 + EXT4 (size at least 1 GB). Also make sure that they are correctly aligned.

[Q] Troubles with sd-ext / sd card mounting

Hey @ all,
ive got a HTC Desire with these specs:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
HBOOT 6.93.1002
Radio 5.11.05.27
rooted, s-off
I tried ICS Beta with an ext4 partition for about 2-3 months, the performance was too slow, so i decided to get a faster GB-Rom. I did a full wipe and formatted my sd-card with Panasonic SD Formatter (Full Erase).
Then i tried to create a new ext4 partition with Mini Partition Tool Wizard.... (1. Move/Resize, 2. 2048MB of unallocated space - so i got a fat32 partition with 6GB and the 2nd unallocated partition will be turned into a EXT4 Primary Drive with 4kb Clusters) 3. Mini Partition Tool tells me that everything is done and without failure.
Then i boot in my Recovery and go to (mounts and storage/mount usb storage) win7 tells me that a new drive was found with 6GB (8GB SD Card - 2GB ext4). I copy my choise of ROM on it (in my example RSK bravo 7.4.3) - everything works.
Then i unmount USB storage and go to install zip from sdcard/choose zip from sdcard) and then a failure appears: Can´t mount /sdcard/
If i format the SDcard once again (without ext4) it works, i can install .zip´s and i can mount the sd-card.
Im really mad, cause i tried this 100times without success. Also tried a other card, same thing.
Could this be an sd-brick? (But everything works fine without ext4). Is it a problem of partitioning? Or can i solve this problem with another software or what would you try?
Sorry for my bad english
Please help me
Oh and maybe it helps to discover the issues... when i power on my desire it starts the revolutionary boot loader, without pressing the VOL- button...
Anyone got a idea what i could try? Im so
hello friend , this problem was also occur with me
Solution: run gparted and remove all partitons and create new fat32 partition then apply, your problem solved
If i format the SDcard once again (without ext4) it works, i can install .zip´s and i can mount the sd-card.

Thx for your awnser but it also works without gparted (but just with a fat32 partition, without ext4). Have you created ext4 also with gparted and it worked?
I solved it
Tryed to format and partition with the sd card in my girlfriends unrooted desire z.
1st the desire z cant read the sd card and i thought it wouldn´t work again, but after formatting, partitioning i inserted the sdcard again in my desire - and then i go to install from sd-card, and see there: i could choose the rom
Maybe the unmounted usb from recovery was the reason, i dont know but im really happy that it worked
