Not long ago my girlfriend bought the SE Xperia Arc. She chose that model because video-recording is important for us. And it did record video nicely, with good audio as well.
Arc was too big for me though, so I bought the Neo, which turned out to give me way too low audio in video-recordings.
So I waited for Ray, which sadly also turned out to give way too low audio in video-recordings.
Then yesterday we updated the Arc, and now it also gives way too low audio in video-recordings.
Here is an example of what I mean: dewfall.dk/compare2.mp4
Earlier example of Arc with the old firmware and the Neo I tried: dewfall.dk/compare.mp4
So what I would like is some way to be able to adjust the microphone input gain level in video-recordings.
Can this be done?
(I don't know a whole lot about rooting and custom roms. I've only played a bit with rooting and roms on my T-mobile G1, but that was a long time ago now).
I've searched this forum a lot, and it seems that most people have the problem the other way around. Their mic records too loud.
So the Market has apps like Volume+ and VooDoo and Mic Gain, but as far as I understand they only work with a certain rom, which aren't available for Xperia Arc/Neo/Ray yet, I think.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, we have some smart people here at XDA-Developers so why has no one been able to come up with a hack for the low volume on many of these units? The SX-56 has really good volume in both the earpiece and the speakerphone but it seems all other HTC units do not!
When using the media player the volume on the speaker is adequate (not great); however the same speaker as a speakerphone can barely be heard unless one is in a quiet room. The earpiece volume is terrible in a noisy environment. If you compare this to almost any tiny phone it sucks to put it bluntly. Take my LG 4500, it is so loud that you have to turn it down (this is as it should be).
From what I have seen, changes in the ROM can effect the volume so this tells me that there has to be some value stored away in a .dll that limits the max volume. I have searched for a registry value but none seems to solve the problem. The same hardware used for Media player has to be used for everything else, i.e. amplifier and speaker for spearkerphone and just switched to earpiece when in normal phone mode. Thus the amplifier is capable.
Can someone identify the .dll used for audio? Is it different for the various models? Does one work better than another? Is there a hacked version that would work better than all of the others? Is it in the volume control .dll?
Anyone that can solve this problem will be a hero in my eyes and a true hacker in the best sense of the word. I have the new HP IPAQ HW6510 (also made by HTC) and it has some improvements in the version of Windows it has, such as the Bluetooth stack really seems to work well; however, since the unit supports Bluetooth 1.2 I'm not sure whether it would work with version 1.1 phones.
Thank you for any help you can provide. I searched the site first and found many other complaining but no solutions.
Doesn't anyone have a clue? Is there anyone that can explain the workings and which .dlls do what relative to audio? Surely there is some bright person that has been able to figure this out.
pda2k user here. NEVER had volume problems. lucky?
Hey all,
I recently received a sony bluetooth headset (MW600) for ease of mp3 listening on my desire. The headset is pretty good all round, the play pause skip track functions are all pretty quick and the audio quality is nice.
The device comes with an LED screen so that caller ID and track titles can be shown, currently the desire does not support the track title feature. It's a real shame for me personally as I've missed not having track titles since the MiniDisc days.
I did know that it wouldn't work prior to purchase, but I wanted to get a future-proof solution such that if/when the correct bluetooth profiles are featured on the desire I can enjoy them .
My question is to the people most in the know, how likely is this to become a future desire feature, and secondly are there any roms supporting this?
My intuition tells me it isn't a hardware limitation.. is this right?
Anyway, thanks in advance
regards,
niklz
As far as I'm aware (from my limited research), that's a feature limited to Sony Ericsson's own phones. I don't know that it'll EVER be added to other phones, but maybe if you could get the relevant info off an SE phone it could be investigated.
ahh, that would suck..
I tried on my housemates sony phone, its the second latest walkman phone. It didn't even see the device, I've read several sources saying that it doesn't work with the x10 which ofc is android, I would assume sony would fix this (they are linking it as an accessory for the x10). If I find more I'll post more, shall try my best to pair with new sony phones when I see them
thanks
Hi all
I'm an owner of a polaris (pola100) and I found out that wired headset is not working. Sound is still routed to speaker. Do you have this problem in your devices?
For your information, I'm using latest kernel (zImage-27-06-10) and Vanilj Eclair RLS7b
Thanks in advance
This has been a problem from way back before nand, my own solution is to plug in the headset, then adjust volume, before playing any music, seems to work 99 times out of 100 so far, it's just one of those issues that has never been dealt with, and tbh it's low priority, since the workarounds are easy enough to implement, and few seem to worry about it enough to raise it's priority.
Well, the title says everything. The sound on the phone is great for me, there's no issue playing Youtube videos inside the browser, music plays just fine, beats on/off doesn't make any difference and external speaker doesn't have this issue. There's no equalizer installed and I can't figure out what to do to get this annoyance fixed.
I'm using the latest stock 4.0.4 update and my One X is the international version. I'm still playing with the stock firmware to know better my phone. I did the same with my old SGS and that helped me to choose the best ROM later.
Thanks in advance.
I knew this could be a not answered question, because the lack of info and not enough testing. But that's OK, I kinda sorted it out.
I was testing my HOX with two earphones, one from Galaxy S, other from Xperia Mini. As they are in-ear, I never bothered to pull the HOX earphone from the plastic bag. So I finally did it and with those freaking lids in my ears, it works. Then I did noticed the different headphone icon on status bar, it has a button on it. The others are recognized without that. Quite promptly I inserted one of the old earphones and pressed the answering call button and guess what? With the button pressed, it works just fine.
My guess is that HOX is very restrictive with the earphone support. And now I change my question, is there any way to recognize those earphones properly or is it a hardware limitation from them?
Thanks again.
Alright guys, im hope you are better than... I think whole internet. Literally whole internet.
Recently, I wanted to root my Xiaomi mi 10T pro becouse of really low volume, mainly via bluetooth. I saw 2 solutions on rooted phones, but mine doesn't want to be rooted (twrp doesn't work at all) so I locked bootloader and forget about it. I also saw few non-root solutions, but non of them work. These solutions are
- region change for Singapore/US etc.
- turn off absolute volume (i don't have that option)
- volume booster apps (sound quality is incredibly low with these)
The only reason i see, is low power built-in bluetooth DAC, so i hope that you'll see better solution than mine. Furthermore, for a last 2-3 weeks is even worse than it was before. I was thinking to buy a new phone becouse of that... so, as i said, i hope that you are better than every other forums and articles around the internet. Thank you for any help!
