Love warm 2.2 but want to move to gingerbread... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I love Warm 2.2 Moved there from Fresh ROM (also nice).
More or less, my question is...
Is there a rom similar to Myn's Warm 2.2 for Gingerbread based EVO's? (Just "burnt out" my micro usb port so i could get a new phone, gingerbread looks fun)
I've been googling for about an hour now, couldnt see anything major.
Also, I've seen some roms that have a "Internet passthrough" basically taking internet from the computer, and making the phone a hotspot from the PC Internet, which would be awesome for at work.
Any tips/help will be greatly appreciated, any flaming will be taken and used similarly to toiletpaper. <3 you.

Well there is Mik G, which is a sense 2.1+3.0 rom; you can look into that if you wish. And for tethering, you can download wireless tether [free] in the market, and you'll be good to go.

Yeah the wireless tether is awesome, Im very familiar with it, just in my office, i have 0 4g or 3g, and barely a signal, which is why i was seeing if i could pull from the computer, and output that connection, my SGT10.1 would be very happy.

Synergy is what you're looking for. It's Myn and a buncha other people working together on the project. Additionally, go to the Themes forum and pick up the Warm theme for Synergy by Incubus.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but try some the of the sense 3.0 roms, or the the Bliss port which is sense 3.5, they may have it. I haven't run enough sense roms since 'nam to give you a definitive answer.

WHICH ROM

I know this question has probably been posted a million times, but Roms update so fast in this day and age that the answer to it changes daily.
I have an Evo 4G (bought on the day it was released), so it's version 0002
I used the stock rom for a few weeks and then upgraded to BakedSnack, which I really liked until it was no longer made.
Now I want to hard reset again, I already tried Azrael (which was super ugly and tacky) and now i'm on Fresh, which doesn't seem so different.
I've read through the wiki entry of all the roms but it doesnt really explain much of the differences, and I was hoping to find ROMS based on 2.3 but I didn't see any that were available.
What are the BIG names out there, the most stable, fastest roms that are the most popular. This is whats important to me:
- Sense UI (I like it!)
- No sprint bull (none of their programs, voicemail, navigation, nfl, all gone)
- Interface must be snappy
- Good Battery life
- All hardware must be functional (4G, GPS, Camera, leds, everything must work)
- Great if it can come with some useful software like- Swype, File Explorer, AppBrain, WifiTether, SuperUser, FlashLight, etc...
Any ideas?
Which roms do you guys use? and why?
mods please move to correct section
op I suggest plutonium, mikfroyo, or myns is themed very heavily, any way you go all will look the same(ish) with the exception of colors changes here and there and transparancy added in places, most will be optimized and be fast
Check out Myn's or MikFroyo
myns warm 2.2 rls5
mikfroyo 4.4
burntdroid
Check out mikfroyo. I've been using it for around 2 weeks and I love it. If you don't like the way it looks you can always flash over a theme like I did. I flashed over slate sense which can be found in the themes and apps section.
Mikfroyo is very battery friendly and the best/smoothest sense rom I've used.

You are going to get flamed posting this in development; this belongs in Q&A. Anyways you should do research as to what you like/want as you are going to have tons of issues with the rom I like and vice versa.
Currently I use Salvage-rom 0.9.6. It is gingerbread, and it is fast. But it does have problem with random reboots and the video camera doesn't work.
Check out Azrael X. Pretty good battery for a non-AOSP rom and ricsim78 (the dev) is pretty quick with the updates when sprint does a OTA.
I'm currently on EViO 1.7.7 b/c for me it's been the ROM that gives the best balance of great battery life w/ great performance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745205
King's Rom Ultra 5.2.2 is fast with great battery life.

Lol cm7 all the way hands down. But seriously bro q+a. This is going to be flame central

Don't the first post of every rom have the useful information he asked for?
Anyways, myn for the win (hey that rhymed) IMO
Funny thing is, this is the same asshat that went into the Azrael X thread and trashed the dev Ric about his latest 4.0 ROM... then the genius comes and posts this? Get bent troll...
Here's another vote for Azrael's X. I've tried Mikfroyo, Myn's, and Azrael's recently, and the Azrael X 4.0 has been my favorite of the bunch so far.
Battery life is great, and the font he uses looks great on the phone!
for a sense rom, asrael X is the best hands down.
Darkstar coconut is an excellent font as well from myns thread
Jesus, so much hate.. and you're calling ME a troll??
All I said was that Azrael's rom was very ugly, his wallpapers are tacky, his ringtones are childish, it's nothing an adult could carry around with him without some extreme modifications.

Agreed
indefinably awesome, although if your thirst for blood is more on the cutting edge Cm7 or kings, fresh, mikfroyo and i know I am forgetting some but are all good in their own special ways its just what you are looking for that is important. All around though the Minions do great outstanding work and always make a complete rom fully capable and with lots of tweeks along with a very large community support network that has plenty of themes.
Currently running Myns RLS-5 with DT a2sd, Kings 11 kERNAL (diving into the salvaged kernals tonight though. I miss the 20hr battery life days lol. Any side insight for a compatible kernal with myns RLS-5?

If you want a cool look: Myns or Mikfroyo
If you want speed: Mikfroyo
Battery/Stable: EViO, Fresh, or Ava
What I personally would do is get a EViO, Fresh, or Ava and put a theme on it.

[Q] Best 2.3 ROM with 4G, Camera, LocServ, and The Other Bells & Whistles Working

OK, I've successfully rooted my beloved EVO... Now, it's time to consider a new, stable, BATTERY-EFFICIENT Gingerbread ROM; one that has WiMax, Camera (both), and Location Services running, along with basic 3G of course...
I like Sense, but I can live without it so that's not an impediment.
If you're asking why Gingerbread, well, I'd like to be cutting edge , with support for millions of colors (as I understand the Novatec screen on my 0003 Evo can handle it), and with some of the security vulnerabilities of pre 2.2.2 Android patched up.
The main things are:
1. Stability
2. WiMax and improved 3G (if possible)
3. Battery life improvements
4. Theming ability
I'm, frankly, bewildered by the options, so I'd like real-life experience and suggestions so I can narrow down my options.
Assists are appreciated...
Try cm7 it's the most stable fastest gingerbread rom
Sent from cm7 jealous!!!!!!Mines COOLER
I don't think there are any 2.3 sense roms yet. From what I understand, the only gingerbread rom that supports wimax at all is CM7 nightlies and even that is a little spotty. I think you're just going to have to wait a bit longer for all that in one rom.
I'm leaning towards CM7...
There are no Sense ROMS that are based on 2.3? It's not a big deal, but I was hoping there were, and I missed it (to add more competition).
CM7 is great, definitely worth a shot
Nope no sense based gb roms yet. Your best bets are CM7 newest nightly or, if you're willing to venture away from xda, Ultimate Droid.
CM7, no questions asked. If you want an alternative, Salvage mod has MOAR GEEZ as well, but no personal experience with it.
Get launcher pro plus. It has the good "sense-like" widgets.

But hotspots does.
Sent from my Evo that can't see the Apple orchard with its big wall.
With the exception of an early GPS problem CM7 is stable and many people are reporting faster connection speeds too.
Not a problem because it has a hotspot built into the rom. No need for wirless tether.
I have no issues using wireless tether on CM7
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Seems like CM7 is where I might start.
Is there any particular nightly of CM7 that I should DL?
11 and 12 are a little buggy but work great for me on android 2.3.3. Anything after 6 is wimax and 2.3.2 before 6 is no wimax. Try 12 and try both savage Zen and tiamat kernels in it. both are great.

CM7 has built in wireless and usb tether, both work great. CM7 RC2 is very stable and very smooth. I use launcher pro plus and have zero complaints. Great rom with excellent functionality.

Need some suggestions on ROM

I am looking for a few suggestions on some ROM's for my EVO 4g.
I am looking for something FAST, great battery life for a heavy talker, WiFi teather, ability for PicMe to run just fine on phone, run cSIPSimple or similar program for connecting back to my PBX's, possibly a printer sharing software (i.e. PrinterShare), listen to streaming music (doubt that makes a difference). And I guess that really about it. Well of course the latest radios etc..
Any suggestions for me to start trying would be great as there are so many I really hate to start just trying every single one and going that route.
Your best bet is to try every single one, because each Rom works different on each person phone. We may have the same hardware and everything but Rom react differently for you and for me....
If you like sense Rom start with myn's Rom and browse thru the rest. If you like complete customization then start with cm7 rc3.
Moral of this post, try them all and don't take anyone else's judgement because what works for them could cause your phone to boot loop into evo hell..

I prefer miui 1.3.25 currently and savaged Zen cfs 1.0 kernel. Came from myn's warm two point two and that is also a great rom. All about what you really want but these have been very very stable for me w an 0004 Evo
sent from Miui Evo
Check THIS place out. It gives you info on many of the more popular roms. But like everyone else said, just try different roms! Nandroid back your current working rom to protect yourself in case of mishap, then flash away.

A few suggestions as requested:
1. Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5
2. Sprint Lovers
3. VaelPak 4.5
4. Kings Z
5. Myn's Warm Z RLS1
6. MIUI
7. Salvage 1.1
8. Calkulin's EViO
9. Koni's Elite
0. King's Ultra Unleashed
CM6 & 7 and other AOSP roms are also worth trying, depending on your tastes. Some roms may be too heavily themed, but again, only you can make that determination. Try as many as you can. Be sure to make a nandroid backup of your current setup in case you don't like any of the roms you try. Also, be sure to do a full wipe from recovery before flashing. Take care....
Do what dougjamal said ---/\ but like I said in another thread be cautious with CM7. Some user are reporting permanently bricked phones.

Few and far between, if taking into account that thousands use it. Although, there have been reports. I'm not saying avoid it or that it is bound to occur as it an isolated incident lately, but be wary, I suppose.

[Q] Looking for a ROM...

I am wondering if there is a ROM in which I could keep the stock look, but be able to:
1. change battery icon to battery with percentage.
2. change dock layout, and
3. have access to sense clock widget and sense calendar.
You may want to look into the sprint lovers rom.

look man theres so many good roms, out you just gotta try all the ones that interests you...it all comes down to personal preferences...
reason why i went with the mik rom is the support community.
if you got a question on a mod or tweak thats not in it ive seen someone create a zips for fix's on many occasions
Are you doing a full wipe between each flash? CM7 when running right should not be slow. I have been on one version or another of it for the past month or so and it's always faster than the sense ROMs.
MikFroyo, Myn and VaelPak are all very good ROMs as well, speeds should be pretty similar.
In the end, you have to just try them until you find what you like.

[Q] EVO 4G ROMs

A few weeks ago, I bought a used EVO off ebay and it came in good condition but had the 2.3.3 ota update and was locked out till Revolutionary came along and allowed me to s-off and get SU access. This was all done with the intention of trying a few other custom roms with Sense 2.x, 3.x and AOSP. After having tried, played with used and read about various roms on XDA for the EVO, are there ANY roms that work as well or better then the stock rom????
To me is seems more like what are u willing to deal with or live without ranging from HDMI, GPS, 4G, Camera issues. I've used 2 roms that can even keep a folder I created on my main screen with a few apps in that folder from removing those apps when I reboot or shut down my phone. Is there and AOSP rom that has more then 5 home screens, wereas the sense roms have 7.
I love the newer mail app that will display all your accts on 1 screen, I have yet to find any ROM with sense 3.0 that can or will display all the google calendars that I have access to view. The carosel of the home screens is the best part of the custom ROMS.
While I truely do appreciate the awesome and very hard work that the developers do to make theses roms to add functionality to our EVO's why would you put something our that isn't ready for daily use??
Are their any Custom ROMs that have ALL the pieces working???
I get where you're coming from, because i cant keep a ROM knowing that something isnt working properly, plus i dont like getting all fancy with the ROMs i like em simple and the sense feel.
Check out the Sprint Lovers ROM with a custom karnel, that should suit you.

I love the nice simple design of the ROM, and EVERYTHING from GPS, 4G, Camera, WIFI work. Not sure if HDMI is working but im sure it does.. im able to keep apps in a folder after a restart too. Not sure about the email app and google calenders thing.
