[Q] no touch screen if phone is too dead. - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

if my phone battery is too dead then I can not use touch screen.. but the other buttons work.. even if I am plugged into a charger.. this has happened to me on the RandomRom Phoenix, Hawk2, Hawk1 and on a Rooted stock Deodexed EG22 Rom.. (yes I have all of them on my SD card) but I have noticed that.. this morning after I let the phone charge over night.. it started working again.. like it never happened..
Is anyone else getting this problem and is there a fix for it??

I guess im the only one getting this problem..
and it is still happening to me.. everytime my battery is low.. I would say below 10 percent.

I think it may be a 15% battery thing. I believe some things don't work once you get to 15% as a way to save remaining battery. I know camera is one. (Fixed in some Froyo kernels)

not sure about the air rave problem since I don't have one, but my battery life is much less on synergy than any aosp ROM mostly because of the power Sense needs to run. On Salvagemod, i would easily get over a 1.5 days on a charge, but I was thrilled yesterday with 11 hours on synergy rls1+godmode.
Also, have you been wiping your battery stats and conditioning your battery?

Blazer ROM - Running Hot???

Hi guys,
Rooted my GS3 today and flashed the Blazer ROM. I've read that sometimes it takes people a few days before this ROM runs smooth...
Seems to be draining battery quicker than my stock root, and it has occasionally been running extremely hot.
Should I be concerned or should I just let it play out for a few days?
I think this phone just runs hot in general. I know mine did - both on stock and on a custom ROM.
Stock didn't seem to run hot for me. Seems to be OK unless I'm using 3G. That's when I seem to notice a drastic increase in the phone temps...
Also my phone has been off the charger for 7 hours, and under light use the battery is at 42% - which also seems low to me...
Thoughts guys?

Try to reflash the rom, and let it settle for 2-3 days and see if you get better results.
*sigh* i just got all my apps/widgets where i wanted them...
do i need to rewipe everything?
Well hello there sir, I am sorry to hear about your overheating/heating up problem and I can assure you, it is somewhat normal. Depending on how hot the phone is really getting.
I wish you had given us/me more information to help better assist your question and maybe solve it for you.
Download battery solo widget, which comes with a widget to install on your home screen, once you have installed it, press it and it will tell you the temperature of your current phone.
I will say, I did just get my Galaxy S3 about five days ago, and Rooted it two days ago. Same exact Rom also, blazin fast.
I will tell you, I installed Battery Solo Widget and my phone with use usually stays around 94 degrees with the house being 70 degrees.
My old OG EVO 4G heated up to 102.65 then shut off. I haven't gotten my S3 past 95 which is totally normal.
To be on the safe side, PLEASE re-install your current Rom, remember to backup your current Rom/SetUp, remember to factory reset/clear cache & dalvik cache then flash the Rom again. I let the phone sit for about 15 or so minutes after flashing before I turn on the screen and set the phone up.
Please let me know how hot your phone is really getting and maybe its not a concern.
Please let us know how the outcome comes along, I am curious and here to help. Thank you!
The only way I make my phone hot is by using Wave, app for GPS and live reports. I know is the app. Is the only way I could make my phone think I guess. Between the 3g and gps that app seems to drain and make this an Oven..
ON BLAZER 1.7 /JELLYBOMB 10
i'm at 95 without breaking a sweat. light browsing on 3g, that's all.
battery's down to 27% now. very frustrating...

Give it about a day or 2 and the battery should be good. About the overheating, for whatever the s3 runs a bit hotter than other phones.
I'm at 77%. Took it off the charger at 6:58a.m. and it's 10: 29p.m. That is with light use. Let's say around 20 texts an hour, give or take.
Do the math.
Don't worry about your battery the first 72 hours. Your phone is basically "warming" up to all the new settings etc etc.
If the problem is still there after hour 80, there is a problem, and most likely with either the download or your phone is really screwed up (which probably isn't the case).
Thank you. That is all.

You need Team Sonic's FreeGS3 ROM. Look it up.

Battery serious problem

hey guys,i have been flashingmany roms every week for about 2 months, then I decided to start fresh.
wiped every thing via cwm and then flashed stock rom via odin, then rooted it.
problem is battery is as fast as HELL , and i have sudden drops, e.g. phone shuts down suddenly at 30% or even 50% , and when i connect charger it shows 0%.
tried battery calibration but no good.
I bought a new battery , and my phone still have sudden shutdowns when used for more than 30 minutes.
even offline.
Is my phone damaged ,or it has permanent leak ,even i change batteries?!
plz reply ASAP , and btw i dont have a screenshot cuz i am using stock 2.3.6.
I recommend you to go to a Samsung Costumer Service and ask for help. I think is a hardware issue, not a software issue.
Also, to use screenshot on GB, use Volume down + Home button.

Must be hardware. If the battery change doesn't quite cut it, then its a hardware problem.

Have you done anything to damage your misc partition? Or do you have a backup of your misc partition? USB bricks are very difficult to get past unless you have a back up of your partition. I believe the creator of 4ext recovery madmaxx developed a fix for the desire that could be used through his recovery. The main thing to remember is that your misc partition is specific to your phone. Not your model, your actual phone in your hand and if you flash a misc partition from someone else's phone it will kill it. Unless you have a backup, or some makes a generic misc for your phone model you may be stuck. Have you tried a ruu, and ate you s-on or s-off?

I was mainly talking about that 100-90 drain... but I'm sure that those jumps after reboots are caused by often ROMs flashes... script that is responsible for creating batterystats.bin just goes crazy... or something like that... my N4 is only unlocked and rooted, everything else is stock and I'm not facing such big jumps after reboot... they're not bigger than 3%

The more you discharge it to nearly auto turn off moment and fully charge after, the better it will work. My was a bit "wild" after I had like 5 ROMs changed in one day. Then it setted pretty nice, keeping up to 3-4 days with normal use. No weird drops, also goin 100-90 smoothly for hours not 2 mins

You don't have to stay on one ROM for few months, any of them need something about 5 full discharges and charges

That's kind of poor. Weren't you using it heavily during that time? I can hit 4 days on single battery life. However when I played games a bit and used hell lot of 3g internet, it dropped from 50 to 10 in like no time, 1-2hrs.

This is weird, I suggest you to install 'advance battery calibration' from playstore. 1st full charge the battery then open battery calibration app and follow the steps. After that, use the device at least 2 full cycle. If problem remains, come back here and report. Best of luck.
Try another battery . Most probably your battery is dead .
