[Q] Issue after Downgrade/Root?! - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Long story short, i got my phone fixed and it came back with 2.2.3. I downgraded to 1.34.405.5 so that I could root it. I have successfully rooted my phone, but since I have, I notice that I cant access my mobile network. In otherwords, I can only get internet if Im in WIFI area, not to mention that also has been flakey. My phone is a Bell phone. Is there an issue with the ROM I used when I downgraded? Has anyone else had this issue before?

You mean 2.3.3 right? Check and make sure you apn's(is that correct or is it api's) your service provider can also walk you through that. What rom are you using..need to give more specific details

Telus Desire on Rogers won't connect to 3G no matter what

I've got a Telus HTC Desire unlocked and being used on Rogers. It's rooted and flashed with the proper radio for Froyo (32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20) and running Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 RC2.
It makes phonecalls and texts just fine, but I cannot for the life of me get 3G working on Rogers. Wifi works fine too, but 3G is just a total no-go.
I've got the APN set up correctly as far as I can tell, and in the settings data is turned on.
Any ideas?

Telus and Bell's 3G network share the same frequency spectrum as Rogers. So yes, they should work, provided the phone is setup correct. Thats why all of Canada's big 3 can offer the iPhone.
I signed up just to thank you! Even the Rogers tech support didn't know what to do. Simple when you know, and my HTC Desire has zero APNs available. Soon as I added this, I was online!
In the UK we get these settings text to the phone, read and delete to update settings and I was surprised in Canada this wasn't done. Phone was blind and tech support didn't know to check this.
Now you've shown us how to configure the APN to work, I'd love to see if theres a thread or page on Rogers with the very latest settings, should these be older or mising some details. After all, will the wrong APN details upset a phone plan?
Thank you for your priceless help.
NP lol. And do the apn wouldn't upset the plan.
there is also 1 more apn that I use now is
Name - Rogers
Apn - internet.com
User - wapuser1
pass- wap
And leave the rest I personally like this apn better.

Hi I'm from canada and i'm having a problem with getting my phone to work.
I recently bought a Desire HD brand new from telus and am trying to use it on rogers. At first I got a unlock code and put in the rogers apn settings and did the *#*#4636#*#* and set it to unknown ( which i read online ) and it was showing 3g and was working fine.
Then the next day I took the sim card out to back up the numbers on my old phone, but every since then I haven't been able to get 3g again. At first it was just showing g , now it stays on wcdma preferred in the *#*#4636#*#* settings. It also won't allow me to select rogers keeps saying that the sim card does not allow me to select this carrier even though it is a rogers sim card.
I have also restarted it and turned it off many times, made sure that both the sim and sd cards were in properly and still nothing.
Please if anyone can help me with this , I really like the phone but my patience is running out with it .

Question about Arc S 3G

Hey, I have the L18i Arc S and am unable to get 3g thorough T Mobile or At&t in New York. Now my question is, would I be able to get 3G through any of the service providers by flashing a different ROM ? I know T Mobile frequency doesn't allow that so I guess the only choice left is At&t. Is there anything I can do to get 3G through At&t on my L18i Arc S ?
No, you should have bought a LT18a.
LT18i has no 3G connection is the states as it's missing the US specific frequencies for 3G and 4G/HSPA+

please help.... LT18a no 3G under straight talk
hey guys, i'm new to XDA. I didn't want to make a new post because it seems that my question has been asked. unfortunately my issue is a bit more technical, I recently bought a lt18a and for the past week I have not been able to get 3G to work. I found a work-around that Straight Talk works under AT&T network so I didn't have to pay their insane prices, but the 3G is not coming up no matter where I went. (I looked up an AT&T tower, drove there just to test out the phone and still nothing) I bought the SIM from straight talk's site and followed their direction on the APN settings I got EDGE to work but no 3G.
I have called straight talk but their infamous awful tech support was no use to me. I also check on other forums and still nothing.

Hello all. This is my first post as well and My friend has the same problem. I did research all over the web and i can't find a normal explanation to why it wont work on AT&T 3G HSPA + network. Does anyone have any info on this matter? All help is greatly appriciated.
If you set it to GSM only, then 3G is turned off/not in use. You need to set it to use WCDMA preferred.

T-Mobile 4G on ATT GSIII

Hi
So long story short, my Tmo GS3 got stolen at my work :/
So my mom gave me her ATT GS3 cus she was up for an upgrade,
i been reading its possible to get 4G on an ATT GS3 but so far no luck,
i know i have the right APN cus i copied the one from my Nex4 to my GS3, i set the network to manual and choose Tmo, but still all i get is Edge.
Does it have to do something with the way i unlocked the phone?
I been reading it has to be factory unlock and i unlocked mine by dialing *#197328640# and doing the required steps.
Can anyone help me with this?

Do a little bit of search work; it depends on the coverage for T-Mobile in your area. It's still a Work in Progress to get the 1700 Mhz band to work on a ATT GS3 since there's a bounty for it in the General section.
Setting the APN to what you have on the Nex4 won't do anything because it's all software and hardware controlled. The software part is currently locked down because no one knows what to change to get the hardware to send and recieve information from the 1700Mhz Band.
Your best bet is to check the coverage map and hope you get 3G service or wait until T-Mobile Rolls out their 4G so the old EDGE will switch onto HSPA for ATT devices that use a T-Mobile Network.
Hope this helps

I had the same situation: only edge, after flashing this files i have 4g http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021&page=25.
Start reading from post #246. If you flash the files you must root your phone like it is a t999, also goes for recovery, im not sure about kernel and DO NOT flash another modem/radio.

Mobile data not working?

Alright guys, I have this weird problem with my S4. Most of the time my mobile data doesnt work nor show the lte symbol even when data is enabled. Everytime I disconnect from my wifi, my data doesnt come on after a while. Do i need to update my modem or any other solution? I've attached done pictures to show it and my device info.

check your APN & make sure its selected. Try that to see if that helps or not.
I had the same exact issue. Your baseband is MDB and your build is MDL. Your network settings are LTE/GSM auto. Change it to GSM/WCDMA, if you get back your 4G icon then you'll need to either flash a MDB build or just Odin the stock MDL tar file. I did a full wipe and Odin the MDL tar and that fixed my problem.

State? Time zone?
Or can this be applied to any phone anywhere.
Pp.
Just curious as I'm having the same issue. I've got the t919 but I'm running on at towers (net10) I had no issues until I loaded a custom ROM. Could it be because I flashed a tmo ROM or should I use a att based ROM?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem or can help with a solution. I just got my Oppo 7 (love this thing) but it seems the network doesn't work properly. That's odd. There's one thing wrong with this device on stock - its APN database for AT&T is 3-4 years out of date. It was still using the wap.cingular APN when I turned mine on.
You need to manually put in the AT&T LTE APN (pta). ALSO if you've never owned an LTE device before you'll need to talk to AT&T to have your account updated. (Using the pta APN with a Nexus 5 resulted in no data for me too until I had my plan/account updated. You can do this without an actual contract change - for example I'm still grandfathered in to "unlimited data"). In general I would recommend doing this in-person at an AT&T-owned store, not at the phone and not at a franchisee (like most small mall kiosks).
Thanks for the reply everyone, I entered in the new ATT HSPA+ APN and it works like a charm now.

I have this as my settings now and still only get H+. (except for the mmsc, you have 3 m's)
Weird thing is that I get 0 connection when I change from phone to pta.
Not sure if locale is the culprit. I'm in Oklahoma City.

whoops made a typo, yea it's only 2 m's in mmsc
try applying ATT Phone apn and rebooting,,
that's weird. did you call AT&T to confirm that you have the LTE data package on your account like Entropy512 stated ?

I went to the ATT store, but they weren't any help. They confirmed that the SIM they gave me was lte compatible, but I assumed that's the same thing as having an LTE data package. I'll give them a call tonight and let you all know. (btw, just re-applied your settings and still no luck)
edit: called.. and they claim that all accounts have lte compatibility now and of course she had never heard of the OF7a
The settings entropy posted were the exact settings my N5 had which I copied over and worked fine. One thing to be aware of is that mine says 4G on LTE and then either H or H+ for those, not sure if this applies only to my service area or what and another might show differently. At any rate if you're getting 4G showing you might wanna run speedtest and see if you are getting LTE.

AT&T's SIMs have been LTE compatible for years, even before AT&T had an LTE network. I need to check to be sure, but I'm fairly certain my SIM is still the original "cut down SIM" that I've had since 2011 at least.
It's your account that needs to be LTE-enabled.
Don't call. Phone support is awful. Go to a corporate-owned AT&T physical store. That's where the competent staff are.
(In my case, I originally did the LTE upgrade on a Nexus 5 - if you put a SIM into a Nexus 5 that doesn't have LTE on the account, you'll get a text message saying to call AT&T.)
