heres my issue, and its like this with every camera but the one from skyraider..but everytime I take a picture in the dark, it doesnt expose right, i have the flash on but it seems the flash is not using dual LED lights? say its dark but there is a little background light, this camera will illuminate how its suppose to with the flash but there is a slight blue tint. Skyraiders is the ONLY camera that worked perfectly, so i pulled the apk, but when I try to install it, it says "application not installed"....any other like experiences??

Hey there,
some years after I sold my G1 I'm up with another Android phone, Desire HD.
Great phone, bad battery as usual...
But I really wonder why they put such yellowish LEDs to the phone. It's ok that the phone is equipped with LEDs but every picture I take with LEDs turned on looks yellowish. The pictures don't look like it would be "real" light, it looks worse than white light.
When you switch on the lights you can already see that it's yellowish.
Perhaps someone has an explanation...
Change the white balance settings, that sometimes helps.
Or you can correct it in an image editor like PicSay Pro (phone app) or Photoshop.
I also notice that (in the preview/viewfinder screen) it makes it look yellow.
But when taken the picture the preview on my stock-rom but updated phone is a normal color and not yellowish at all.
Check out hamdir's photography guide/tips. Scroll down to the flash section. A solution there works. Thread location:
Desire HD general-
Thank you! I set white balance to fluorescent (Neonlicht in German) and now the pictures made with LED flash look better.
Anyone else find the rear camera almost pitch black compared to front camera? I've changed various settings but it doesn't go any brighter.

Most units have the dark camera. Some have a brighter camera.
The best you can do is adjust the exposure setting.
I just posted in another thread that I had this issue, even adjusting all the setting makes very little difference when using the camera in video mode, picture mode is fine though, no issues with darkness etc.

Sorry I didn't see your thread, yes I have exactly same problem in video mode being darker than camera mode with the rear camera no issue with front one though, my bad I should of stated which mode it was in.
Don't know about the dark only in video mode issue.
What I've seen is most cameras look find in bright rooms, but in dimly lit rooms, everything is very dark. I just figured this was normal for this level camera, but then I saw a unit that was able to have the same image my eye could see, rather than being so dark it was hard to make out details.
That's when I came to the concusion there are different cameras or the same camera with different variances.
I could adjust the exposure in the dark camera to the highest level and get about 75% of the brightness of the bright camera, but never as bright. By bright, I just mean you can make out the details in the scene.
It seems to be more of bug though because it's also doing it on sphere & panoramic modes too, it's like it's automatically setting the exposure to -2 when your under unnatural light. The setting shouldn't be any different to camera still mode as all it does is stitch multiple stills together.

I went back and tested my camera in more depth.
When I turn on video mode, it ignores any exposure setting. Is it possible you have exposure turned up (not necessarily by your own doing) in the camera mode and when you switch to video, it doesn't honor the exposure?
Basically what I'm asking is, rather than video mode being dark, is it possible video mode is "normal", ie no adjustments to exposure, and camera mode has exposure upped up, possibly some change/fix that was made to account for an overly dark camera?
I know this makes no "effective" difference to you, but might explain why it behaves differently in camera and video/stitch/etc. mode.
Sometimes it also goes redish dark in picture / still mode too but that can be fixed by pressing home and then returning to it via recents, you can hear the shutter or lens reset.
4.4 gives a slight improvement, it's lighter now hopefully with another tweaked update it'll be fixed.
I just noticed my g4 camera in low light has a blue tint. Its fine and about a few seconds after the camera app is loaded it goes blue at first i thought it was a filter but its not ...any ideas ? Attached pic of it before and after a few seconds .
I have not noticed this yet. The pictures don't seem to be low light pictures. but the first picture looks like a vintage effect.
Was this in easy , auto or manual
Well It was kinda dark out ,camera seems good in low light aha. But I used it on auto

Hello guys,
I foun a strange red "light" next to my front camera. Will upload a picture very soon, but has someone an idea, what it is? It is red, but only lights up, if screen is locked. When the screen is off, or unlocked the "light" is off to.
I have not found something similar here...
Please tell me it is not dangerous
Proximity sensor.

The teardown at https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Google+Pixel+C+Teardown/62277 says at Step 4 "The front-facing camera assembly contains a 2 MP selfie cam, ambient light sensor, and what looks like a camera indicator LED." Full size photo at https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/NgYV6anKZIYNCi3p - if you get a blank screen look at your browser scroll bars, you may be viewing the top LH corner.
I've never seen the LED lit. The Nexus 9 has a notification LED that does nothing (possibly) and the thread ran to 90+ posts (including x-ray photos) http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/general/led-nexus-9-t2929379
This is the camera auto focus laser. It can be seen whenever the front camera is turned on. Google turns on your camera in the lock screen so it can use trusted face unlock - even if you have not enabled trusted face.

But why the red light is not glowing when taking photos with the front cam?
Still very mysterious
I wasn't able to see it while making a photo with Front camera. I'm not even sure, if I have seen the light before. I'm sure I haven't noticed it before, but it is quite bright. Can you see it too?
I have a rooted sony xperia z5 premium running resurrection remix marshmallow ROM ver 6.0.1_52 - MOB30R. However, every time I aim the back camera at something, a heavy blue tint appears. Basically, if I aim the back camera at a person, they will show up as blue instead of brown, white, or whatever skin color they are. This bug only affects the back camera and not the front camera, so selfies show color the way they're supposed to and work fine like normal. But the back camera only shows blue and has this blue tint when aimed at things.
Additional Info: Everything else on the phone works fine, colors all show normal for pictures browsed on web and more. Its just the back camera that is messed up and showing up blue.
EDIT: Moderator can delete this thread. Apparently its a bad camera from the ROM itself since it is still in alpha stage
