[Q] Not receiving SMS using Sense 3.0 Roms - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all...
Is anyone else having this problem? It seems to only be happening to me when running Sense 3.0 Roms. I never have any problems using Roms with a lower Sense version.
I've searched the forums pretty extensively but haven't been able to narrow down a cause.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated )))

I had that issue with Incredible Sensation (Sense 3.0) multiple times in the last week. That was really my first ROM, so I can't say if it was the same thing or not.

Had the problem a few times on some of the 3.0 ROMs. I didn't on Community ROM RC5, and I'm going to try Nils BS 2.2 tonight and see what happens, I think it likely has to do with being (for the most part) Sprint ports, but I'm not sure that anyone has found a fix or that its a very widespread problem.

Thanks for the input, guys. I had the issue when using Comm ROM, Nils' BS, Inc Sensation and Synergy. If you didn't have a problem using Comm ROM, Zero, then I'll try giving it another shot. I'll also look through and see if i can find one that's not a Sprint port to test whether or not a factor.
Thanks again

[Q] Froyo Charging Times vs Eclair

Anyone know why a phone, which is the same hardware whether you have 2.1 or 2.2 on it at the moment, takes MUCH longer to charge under 2.2? How could software do this, and is there a possibility of a fix?
Kernel changes.
HTC knows of the issue.
Thanks

Thanks (and thanks for all your hard work on other threads; like the radio thread)

EVO 4G keyboard issue

Just wanted to ask this question.. Here's the story, My keyboard is having issues just little issues where the it isn't as responsive and when typing say.... You or Yeah, it doesn't seem to pick up all the key strokes and I'll end up with yeh or ou, then I rooted it to 2.2 and all is good. However when I flashed the Ava-FroyoV9Final rom which is amazing!! I am getting the same keyboard issues as I was before it was rooted. Any solutions you all may have would be great. Sorry if I am missing something but I haven't been doing this for long.
Thanks again for any help on resolving this matter.
Try flashing a kernel on top of that rom. Like Netarchy's or King's. Should fix the problem, just seems like a FPS issue.
I figured that's what it was but didn't really know which kernel to flash. Do you happend to know what kernel comes with the rooted 2.2 software? Cause that seems to work just fine.
Any sense 2.2 kernel should work. King's kernel #11 is out, you can try that one. All kernels unlock FPS so it's all good.

[Q] Most Stable Rom?

I've tried almost every ROM on the development page but could not find any ROM that is stable (I.E. GPS not working, or Camera issues, etc.) Is there any ROM that anyone here recommends that is most stable?
Probably Villision 1.0

How about Cyanogenmod 6.1.1? Granted its Froyo but its Stable. Other then that just root the stock rom and get the junk off of it. I did those for a while. Now I'm on Cyanogen Nightly 31 having no issues. I have been lucky being able to fix the GPS issues.
The latest Virtuous is pretty stable for me! and everything works
I've never once had an issue with cyanogenmod.. just flashed rc4. Idk why everyone complains about gps, my works flawlessly.. id say cm6 would be the most stable thou as someone already said. But it is froyo.

So you're saying your phone isn't experiencing the Gmail margin issue that's been present post CM7-RC2?

I think miui is the most stable, to be honest. Those folks in china know their stuff. Haven't had a single damn thing force close on me with that rom. No joke. Battery life is just magical too.

Go for the ROM with the most replies.
Any ROM will have bugs. The older and more popular it is, the more likely, the bugs will have been worked out. Go for older, stable roms instead of newer, unstable ones.

Seems to me the GPS issue on CM7 may be location dependent, since some have the issue, others don't, and flashing various different radios seems to solve the issue for many. Since I travel a lot for work, it gives me less than 100% confidence that the GPS will work when I really need it to.
There is also the persistent video camera landscape/portrait playback bug (but I haven't tried the latest nightlies or RC4). Plus, the camera button is laggy on CM7. So I'm onto Virtuous, but ADW EX as launcher (Sense is sloooow). Virtuous is built off the stock Desire Z ROM, so its very stable. Off the top of my head, the only common bug I know of is wake issues depending on kernel and clocking, but those are easily solved by SetCPU profiles, or using the Standard Virtuous kernel. I haven't tried a great many ROMs, but Virtuous is working well for me so far.
Gingerbread ROMs are all ports from other phones, since a native GB "official" ROM has not been released for the Vision yet. Until that happens, the Froyo builds are going to be less buggy than the GB ones.

root and upload basic android 2.3 to dhd

Ok so here is my dilemma.
I have been waiting for an update and still not got 2.3 and now I have given up. I have used cyanogenmod before so thought maybe that was an option but never really used the extras and hated the bugs. I currently never user HTC sense stuff so I am now wondering if there is a pure Android only 2.3 Rom/ruu for the dhd and does anyone have experiences with it?

bugs in cyanogenmod?currently? everything goes smoothly in CM7xx
i think that can judge by yourself...
it deppends.. you are a sense lover?
you don´t want or need root access?
etc...Then with this rom (official) it is sufficient
but i tried a oficial ruu vs leedroid (example) and leedroid gb,, its soooo much fast than the official RUU... and more advantages

There is a GB ROM that is pure bar root as well as Android Revolution which is highly recommended (although I prefer LeeDroid) and whilst visually you'll not tell the difference it does have plenty of themes, add-ons etc. on the development forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765
I use CM7.0.3 and have found no bugs at all. Perhaps you flashed a nightly.
[EDIT] Dang!! Sergi beat me to it.
I have not tried cm7 yet but have tried 5 and 6 before on other phones and know that it is never 100% stable. I just wondered if a.basic stock version of Android would be better or not.
As I said iam not to bothered about sense. Only.thing I will miss is the contact sync stuff.

The customised Sense based ROMs are MORE stable thus "better".
CM6 and cm7 for me have been 100% stable for me. Never had a system fc or random reboot but won't argue with you about it. I can only tell you how it is on the DHD (and Hero) now. I'll say no more.
I used CM6 on my HD2 before my kid decided to unplug it from the charger and throw it onto the kitchen floor and break it, and let me tell you, it was the best android experience I had on a phone. Now that I have an Inspire 4G, I've had CM7 since the wonderful devs here got to root it, and it just blows my mind on how better and stable this thing is, as a matter of fact, I recommend it to anyone of my friends that own any android phone. So go ahead and try it, play with it, the worst thing that can happen is that you don't like it and go for a Sense ROM instead.

I think this is as near to virgin gingerbread as you can get.

If I read the first post, I would say that you only should try some other custom roms.
They are all faster then the stock version. And the support in the threads is great.
This is probably as close as you can get
Hey there, here are some ROMs that I thought you might like to try. I had the same dilemma as you. I wanted a stock android 2.3 ROM, so I searched around but to no avail. Then I found these ROMs. Both are Android 2.3.3 and based on CM 7 but have the stock android interface. Check them out! I think you'll like them. : ) (A the moment I'm using the second one I mentioned; Ultimate Droid.)

rom selection help please

i recently rooted my phone and flashed arhd, and got some great help and advice from here regarding which rom to start with.
Now i am see`ing new roms, updated versions and am struggling to choose again - from what i can tell there are 3 x varieties - one that has sense, one without sense and a miui version, and then in al lthe threads of the seperate varieties they all seem to have the identicle set up - and same issues - most recent being no wifi connection, so an updated rom is released.
do people really flash a rom daily? or do you just stick with one that works?
i would like to have some sense 3 bits, but every rom seems to be sufferign the same problems and they all look the same except a different kernal is used, how do i choose?
Im after using a good few of the roms now and I was using CM7 since it came out. Yesterday I changed to honeysense HD and I must say I love it. I use SPB 3D shell launcher so it looks basically the same as alot of the other ones anyways but there are a few nice little changes in it that I love. You should seriously think about trying it. You wont be sad you tried it.
It's pure personal preference.
I have worked my way around judt about all the different flavour ROMs but my fav choice is resting solidly on the COREDROID Rom.
Just take some time and try each one I am sure you will find one you like. Ad for flashing all the time I did initialy but I settled down and the ROMs get better each time a new version is released.
Have fun

I have just started getting into this and for the first few weeks flashed pretty much most roms that were available. I then found the MIUI rom and fell in love with it.
Coredroid is my favorite one of the sense type roms
It is down to personal preference and best thing to do is try a few of em and I'm sure you will find one that you like

thats excatlly what i was going thru. I'm the kinda guy who flashes almost daily
I have had a run of almost all of them.
If you want to have pure sense 3 experience then RCmix kingdom is the one you could go for.But as it is still in beta/development stage you should expect few bug's here and there.
If you dont want to have bugs and have sense 3.0 parts (lockscreen,camera....) then i personally suggest lee driod or andriod revolution rom's with sense 3.0 addon's they are both stable rom's with very few issue's in them.
I'm currently am on RCmix 5.9 (Old school ) with sense 3.0 addons in it with lee's kernel.
On the other side Miui freshly squeezed is the best you could find which is close to sense like experience with the power of CM 7. Give it a try i'm sure it will tempt you to forget sense for a while
Hope this help you out
Happy flashing
HoneySense
I am using the Honeysense HD rom. It is great, the dev is very dedicated and releases updates very quickly.
I was looking at honeysense. Looks good from images and thread messages. Cheers for replies everyone.

DUDE!! If you have DHD then the ROM(s) to follow are LeeDroid and RCMIX Kingdom.. At the moment both have released newer versions of their ROMS so you just need to see which ROM works best for you and of course for your device ;o)
Lee has a mixture of Sense 2.1 and 3.0 and RCMIX Kingdom has Sense 3.0 but after flashing RCMIX's Rom it says Sense 2.1..I THINK it's still a bug BUT his ROM is superb.. The battery life might be a bit annoying but thank GOD for the extra battery ( if your SP provided you with an extra .. of course )..hehhe!
MIUI should not be option on your DHD cos I personally think that the phone was built around Sense and I don't think that MIUI has any Sense version on it..
MIUI might look super cool but try LeeDroid OR RCMIX's first before you move to MIUI..>>> OR VICE VERSA ;o)
Hope my 2 cents comment helps you ;o)
Spent my first week changing and trying different ROMs.
Started worth arhd since it has great doc for newbies.
Then, tried all other sense rom and stayed a while with lee droid.
Switched to cm7 then to mdj cm7.1. Stayed there a long time. Close to a month.
Then back to sense since I want panorama! And tried tb and mdj vivo.
Now on vivo.
Think I'll stick with mdj.s rom.

if you want sense 3 then i recommend you ioos rom.
cause its true sense without any extra's.
so far no issues for me.
Had the same problems. I tried virtually all roms, from sense to no sense. Like IOO sense 3 rom so much. CM 7 & MIUI are just not my thing. The best rom in my opinion right now is VIVO. Its very smooth, the battery life is amazing, minimal bugs report. But at the end its a matter of personal choice.

I have been using Honeysense HD since i rooted 2 weeks ago and found it to be very pretty without many problems the only thing i cant seem to sort out is my battery life 100% at 10.20pm put phone on standby and at 5am i'm at 75%. Thinking i'll try another ROM.
I've tried ARHD, MIUI, LeeDroid and CM7. After all this I choose to switch between ARHD and MIUI freshly squeezed edition, but I still prefer ARHD for its stability and good battery life.
