It usually is their network error. I used to get 4 or 5 from this girl on MetroPCS. Once it wouldn't stop for over an hour.
My wife had the same issue getting the same 3 messages from me all day. I thought it was a network issue. She was ready to kill me when I got home. Talking each message almost a 100 times
It finally stopped this afternoon...THANK GOODNESS....INSANITY
Same here!
Got in some serious shizz earlier with my female and her parents over it lol...

SOLUTION
It turns out it was being caused by my Airave that I have at the house. This evening I reset it and the connection with my phone.....all is well. The wierd thing is that it only affected my Epic(back to stock EC05) and not the Moment, Evo or Evo shift that I have. Crazy stuff.

Hey guys,
So this might be a n00b question to ask but i haven't seen any other posts on it for the Evo 4g.
I can make calls, but not receive them. I can send texts and people get them right away, but i don't receive them right away, I receive all my texts at once an hour or two later, sometimes a day later. I checked my system time and it was supposed to be 9:30 am but it said 4:45 pm, then it went back to 9:30 am about 5 min later.
It seems like a radio problem because my network works fine with facebook and heytel.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this, is it a network issue i need to contact sprint or is it a problem within the phone itself.
Is your evo rooted?
I had a similar problem but it was when i had a blackberry but it wasnt all the time. Sometimes i got texts almost a day later.
*Usually*, it is a network issue. You can try updating your profile in the settings menu. Also, it is not uncommon to experience such things while roaming.

Ya it's rooted with Unrevoked running Riptide w Calkulin 1.8.0
Haven't had any problems with it until yesterday, been running it ever since it came out.
I'm definitely not roaming.
Updated my profile and PRL
Gonna re-update, pull the battery for a few, and call sprint customer care. I read somewhere people have this issue when their phone is in forward mode, random for it to all of a sudden just happen unless the phone got dropped or shorted out somehow.
I had a friend have the same problem yesterday but he just went through insurance and got a new phone.
So you're right it could be a network issue and spending $ on a new phone to gamble on having the same issue doesn't sound like something anyone would want to throw money at.

Give it a day or two, you definitely don't want to pay for something you don't need.
Also, back up your current setup, calikulin format all, and try flashing something else to see if the problem is ROM based.
Thanks Green. Good words brothuh, i gotta older version of Fresh i'm gonna try that out.
I haven't seen any new worthy ROMs with the gingerbread so staying clear from that for awhile.
Unless you have one you would recommend trying out.

Flash a different kernel. It shouldn't have an affect on your issue, but, I've learned that anything us possible with smartphones.

Thanks Doug, not sure how to flash just the kernel but i'll look it up and post the results later today. Thanks for the tips!!
I tried reflashing the entire ROM and no dice. Think it's definitely a network issue. Going to sprint today, keep you guys posted.
I had the same problem and was on EVIO 1.8. I reflashed my PRI and that seem to have solved my problem. I tried many things but after flashing the PRI the phone has had no problems and that was about a month ago.
Here is my post to someone who had a similar problem as you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028403
Finally took the plunge and flashed Calk's ROM on Thursday. I had rooted when I first got the phone a few months ago but was hesitant to flash a ROM. I used to flash different ROMs all the time on my Evo but for some reason, I just haven't on the E4GT.
First off, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE Calk's ROM. The main thing I want out of a ROM is speed and battery life. This one does both flawlessly. I touch an app and bam it's there. My battery life has almost doubled since flashing it also. The little extras like percentage battery mod and the screen-off CRT animation is just icing on an already delicious cake. So thank you Calk for making an amazing ROM!
As for the modem, I used to get at least 5-10 LoS a day before I switched. Even with the LoS daemon, it would still reboot at least 4 times a day. The daemon at least helped most of the time by resetting the radio back into a usable state, but it was mildly irritating.
So far, since Thursday, I have not had a single LoS. Ironically enough, the most LoS used to happen at my Sprint store where I work.
LOS 5-10 times a day I would have done returned the phone I tell ya what.
Good to hear.. Would you mind doing a quick test for me with 4g? It's to test incoming push messages when the radio is off.
So, when 4g goes to sleep(ZZZ), can yous end yourself an email and see if it wakes up and gets the email?

I work for Sprint, so I'm used to problems. I'm not irritated like most people are by device issues. I tend to put up with it until a fix is found instead of complaining and threatening.

Not in 4G coverage, though I was last night. If I go into town within the week, I'll certainly test it for you.

Thanks. I'm supposed to visit a Sprint store tonight, this issue has me sticking to 3g 100% of the time now and I tested it with two phones both on the leaked EK02 modems.

With 4g on and good service. The test is for push notifications(gmail for example).
So, let the phone sit for a couple of minutes until the 4g is idle(ZZZ state). Just let it sit for a minute or two make sure it is in idle for a bit.
When in idle send yourself an email, usually they come through in seconds. Let me know if this happens or if the phone continues in ZZZ with no email coming through.
took like a min or 2 to get the email so not to bad

Yea, mine will stay in sleep mode and not receive anything until Either I or an app requests internet access. I guess it's good news that it isn't happening with the new modem. Still sucks that it's happening to me.
I hate to bother the people here but you all are my last chance at fixing this problem or at least hopefully getting advice on how to make Sprint fix it.
About 2 weeks ago there was a major service outage in my area. Internet went down first followed by phone and text service about 3 hours later. The outage started at around midnight and lasted till around noon. Almost every night since then I have been loosing data signal between midnight and 2 am. When it does start to come back on the signal is terrible. The outage lasts between 30 minutes and 3 hours and the slow service afterward usually lasts for another 15 to 20 minutes. Today I had internet drop around 11 am. I have called Sprint 5 times. So far I have been told to reset every possible thing you can reset on my phone and none of that has helped. Now they are saying that I live in a "Signal May Vary" area and that it is not their problem. This issue is happening with all Sprint phones in this area. I work for an ambulance service and happen to be around alot of other people with Sprint. So far we have 3 Epic 4g's and an Epic 4g Touch that are all experiencing this issue. Two of the Epic's are running CM9 Alpha 3 and the other is stock. The Epic Touch is running stock (but rooted) EL29. Normal download speed for us on 3g is 1.0 to 1.75 mbps as determined by the Speedtest.net app.
Any help you guys can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
have you updated your prl 2x and profile 2x? tell them to reset your profile on their end. when you do this, you need to have the phone totally off. after they reset your profile, you turn your phone back on, and update prl and profile 2x.. make sure your battery is fully charged.
all your services are in a "switch glitch loop". but once you do this.. you should be ok.. you have to be patient though. after updating it will take about 5 mins for full speed to kick in with the tower and your phone.
I haven't done all of those in that exact order but they have all been done over multiple calls. I will try them though if I can get sprint to understand that they need to reset the profile.
And also would this be likely to happen to multiple phone all at once? Or is this just a really freaky coincidence?
just tell them that you need them to reset your "profile from they're end". if they say they can't do it.. tell them you want to talk directly to advanced tech support. "DO NOT, DO NOT" tell them you are rooted.. even if they ask.. do not admit to it.
So my phone just randomly stopped connecting to 4g yesterday mid afternoon. I have never had 4g, Wifi, or even GPS issues. Ive been on the stock (rooted) EL29 rom thats posted in the dev section. I have not been flashing different roms/modems/kernels lately. I did flash the EL29 modem again cuz i thought it might be corrupt, no still nothing...
I went back to completely stock rom/kernel/recovery EL29 a month ago and have kept it that way. Havent dropped the phone, no water damage, etc etc.
Ive read a few threads about 4g problems and 1 thread mentioned possible corruption to 4g modem data. Another similar thread went unanswered....
What do u guys think? Has anyone else experienced this??
I experienced this and the only way I got it back was odining a new modem. I tried flashing through CWM but that did not help. It does have something to do with 4g modem data corruption and only odin fixed it for me.
A few more people are also reporting the same problem. Mainly in CA. There are two more threads about this issue.

Thought it was just me. My 4G dropped alot yesterday, and data speeds were SLOW!
I was having 4G connection problems over the last two days; it seems to have been resolved as of today. By the way, I am in the LA Region, CA.
solar storms are happening and affecting us now as we speak people tomorrow theres supposed to be a bigger one. http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012...s-still-shooting-out-from-active-spot-on-sun/
maybe this could be affecting wireless communications moderately
Ok people, im in LA too. I just got off the phone with sprint Tech level 2, they have no idea if its a 'known issue' which should be if more people call in and complain....
I was at a sprint store earlier where they spent an hour diagnosing the phone, reflashed EL29, re-provisioned it etc etc....and 4g is still a no go...they did NOT want to swap out the phone cuz they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Their only answer after minutes of argument was: Its a known issue by samsung and we will have to wait on them for a fix........i call this complete BS and basically not wanting to deal with the issue.
I had the same problem. I tried resetting phone. Update prl& profile still the same problem. Flash new Blend ics. Rom. And 4g work. Not sure happened. I lived the west Covina area

I do a lot of traveling, week to week I'm in a different state (All over the US). Occasionally, I run in to issues where my text messages seem to send on my end, but no one gets them and several days later (sometimes weeks) they get them all at once. What could cause this?
Also, I just flashed CM7 from using CM9 hoping it would fix this issue and my phone is having a hard time getting 3G. I'm in a very busy area that undoubtedly has 3G and I'm only getting 1x. Before I flashed CM7 I was getting 3G in the same location.
Sometimes when I'm in very bad areas I use roam control to force my phone to roam to gain data connection (I have the 11115 PRL), but I haven't had to do that the past few weeks. Hopefully someone can shed some light on these issues and help me to solve this.
EDIT: I'm using the FB15 modem.
I had the same problem on CM9 ,never tried CM7. Try using a diffrent rom for awhile and see if you have the same issues..
I'm experiencing the same problem on CM7 with the added annoyance of not being able to get 3G.
CM9,7 Isn't for everyone.. its for people that only care for looks and something a little different.its really not all that. Try using a diffrent rom and I promise you won't have the problems you are having now..
Still having the text messaging issue using the Mortify ROM which is based off of Stock.
Try sleeper or cleangb

My coworkers don't have sprint and don't experience this problem.
EDIT: I flashed the CleanGB ROM and still have the same issue. Could this be a Sprint issue?
EDIT2: Another strange bit of information is that more often than not when I fly home everyone starts getting all my messages. For example if I'm somewhere in KY and no one is getting my messages and then I fly home to San Antonio everyone starts getting them finally.

Could be the modem, may vary in different areas, Maybe a Fresh start could help out. I didn't like CM9 never benefitted from anything that CM7 could do plus MMS, Sms don't have an issue with it on CM7.

What would you suggest I do? Re-flash the modem?
just to let you all know, sprint is doing maintenance and upgrades to different towers right now. my data signal keeps going on and off here and there. i called sprint about it, to verify they are working on the towers, and yep, they are. so be forwarned that anyone may have this issue with any kind of data right now. at least for today.
