When I rooted my phone from superoneclick I got a prompt to install busybox and i installed it.
Now I have unrooted my phone from superonclick but dont know what is the status of the busybox that was installed previously
when i tried to search files using query 'busy' in ASTRO file manager i could see file called busybox in system/xbin folder. Will that affect my warranty? If yes how do i remove it?
Can somebody tell me the checklist for warranty? I have only rooted once from superoneclick, installed clockworkmod recovery, made a backup. Then I uninstalled system restore, unrooted the device and did a factory reset. Anything else is to be done??
What about busybox?
Thank you in advance.
Another quick update. When I tried to root my phone again with superoneclick i got a prompt that the device already rooted. That means the unroot had left some traces. How do I remove that?
why don't u just flash a stock sbf rom??? see cyanogenmod thread for a list of sbf's for ur region...
You should have removed all apps that require root before un-rooting.
Try uninstalling busy box, unroot, followed by root, unroot, just to be sure.
The other option of flashing a full stock sbf would also work.

I don't see any application with name busybox. Only there was a file with that name in the system folder. My only concern is that when I rooted the phone after unrooting it I got a prompt that the phone was already rooted.
I could not delete the file with root access.

I just updated my phone from 2.32 to 2.33. I had 2.32 rooted with gingerbreak. I have been doing some research on this forum and read that you cannot root 2.33 with gingerbreak. However, when I google'd it, lots of people claim that they rooted their 2.33 with gingerbreak. Is this possible? If its not possible please post a link that explains how to root without gingerbreak. I don't know anything about unlocking bootloaders or anything like that however I see people saying that they have v 2.33 rooted. How exactly do you do this?
-------------------------
XDA Senior Moderator Chainfire has released a GingerBreak apk file that helps you to get you root access on your phones running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Actually, Android Exploid Crew developed GingerBreak Exploit and this apk is made on this exploit.
As per developer, the apk can work on some Honeycomb and Froyo versions also.

Well guys I can confirm that gingerbreak 1.20 does not work on android gingerbread 2.33.
http://www.techofweb.com/technology/root-android-gingerbread-gingerbreak.html
Gingerbreaks "loophole" was patched when 2.3.3 was released by SE other phones 2.3.3 that it works on will not have had it patched. If you want 2.3.3 rooted you will have to downgrade to 2.3.2 with flashtool and then root then do the OTA update to keep root on 2.3.3. See here for a guide. You will be flashing the 2.3.2 uk generic but it works fine with no problems on the r800a.
so how do i root 2.33. Ive seen lots of people say they have 2.33 rooted. How did they do it?
We used autoroot. Some used super one click

Read my post again. Follow the guide i posted in the above post to get root with a locked bootloader. Its pointless unlocking your bootloader if all you want to do is root. Working Root on 2.3.3 locked bootloaders! (Works on all Xperia Plays except R800X)
OK I'm going to try now, I just have one question though. Can I unroot the phone?
Yes if you open gingerbreak again (once rooted) it has the option to unroot. Or you could just do a fresh install if needs be.
OK I flashed to the UK Firmware, I have not rooted yet but i noticed when i try to use 3g it asks me what network, then i choose rogers and it says im registered on the network then it keeps saying "could not download settings. Retry?"
Also after I finished flashing it said i should power on the phone and enable unknown sources and usb debugging which i did, then when i plugged it back in it asked me whether i had an Xperia ARC or MINI. I am using a PLAY [r800a] so i clicked cancel. Is that OK?

To unroot, Simply delete su from /system/xbin/ and superuser.apk from /system/app/
The title really says it all, but I'll explain a little further. After making a CWM Recovery backup of my current ROM (SpazeDogs) my SD card was not working and I had no signal. I looked for a number of solutions and decided to recover back to stock, using the HTC Gingerbread RUU and extracting the PB99IMG.zip from it. However, it now seems that my issues were in fact caused by a corrupt misc partition and I've painted myself into a bit of a corner as I no longer have root or S-OFF. Being on Gingerbread (2.3.3) means I cannot use Visionary, and GingerBreak also doesn't work. :crying:
After a full day of searching for a solution, it seems I can connect my device to my computer through Wi-Fi, then use ADB to root with zergRush. Following this I can then flash the misc partition. I have noticed a few people here that have done this and said it was successful, however the zergRush binary and files required to perform this manually following the tutorial appear to be missing, and so I don't know how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found a link for zergrush http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-rs-approved-guides/41454-guide-how-root-your-phone-zergrush.html
The attachment in the droidx thread contains zergrush. I dont know whether zergrush will be common for all devices.
BTW how will you do ADB over WiFi? Thats only available on rooted ROMs like AOKP etc.

Thanks for helping folks, I actually managed to use the method I described above with the help of a friend who was more familiar with ADB than me. ADB over Wi-Fi is built in to the stock HTC Gingerbread ROM (at least, I assume it is, as I did not have root and was able to set it up through Android Terminal Emulator without SuperUser).
Can you share how you set it up with terminal emulator.
The basic issue which I understand here is that without ADB android will not allow pushing the zergRush binary to /data/local partition.
I use many way to root my phone but it's not done. I use SuperOneClick and it's alway stuck on step 7 then NOT RESPONEDING
Any help? :crying:
What did you try? You can probably root it by flashing update.zip or rootgalaxygio.zip. Both can be found in a thread with a similar question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807853

Hey all,
I believe there is a problem with the root in my brother's phone.
It is rooted, CWM 6 touch, and Cm 11 kitkat.
So the problem is now that any app that requires root does not work! The superuser is installed and it gives me the notification whether to grant the app root access or not. So I allow the app to access the root but it does not function correctly.
For example the GameCIH, I give it root access and try to change a value in any game but it does not work.
Also the MacSpoof.
It used to work perfectly before (Tried to flash cwm6 and I soft bricked it but then fixed it all. Thanks to the help of some users in xda)
So what seems to be the problem and how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Sorry I should have posted this in trouble shooting and help section.

I actually did a couple of times but it didn't work. I tried wiping everything and flashing other cwm and rom but still same results.
Thanks for replying.
try re-flash using ODIN
Try supersu 1.93. It has option to root/unroot and is the leading root app
install from playstore or get flashable ZIP here.

Maybe the SU Binary is outdated ?
reflash your root, problem solved.. the problem is only the root access.. try to update app and binary. want simple, reflash root, or even reflash root. greets
