Epic Hot and Unresponsive

Today my Epic started getting really hot while charging and using wifi, the battery temp hit 43C. Now when I'm using wifi, my phone keeps getting hot even when not charging, and the screen becomes unresponsive.
I was running Viper Rom 4.0.3 EXT4, so I decided to try and flash a new rom. Just flashed the Bonsai 2.1 EXT4 and its doing the same thing.
Think its time to Odin back to DI18 and take it to Sprint?
Something with cable perhaps I would suggest take the batt out cool a little and try again I had problem with mine started like that a month latter exchanged for new one

its ok when its plugged in and you are doing things on it it will get hot. mine has gotten to 46 celsius before. i dont know about getting hot when not plugged in. you might have a short in it.
Not going to help, but when I read this I was thinking this is how I like my woman! But the unresponsive mayb not so much!

How old/new is the phone? I hope you have warranty. If not, you might try to Odin a stock image on to it. If you can't go into download mode, try the jig solution.
You may had a bad flash. Hopefully this advice will help.

Take bat out, put back in, hold button to turn on, as soon as it starts to turn on, plug into charger. Just one of MANY known bugs for AOKP. Next time read, read, read and please post in Q&A section. Hope this helps.

I see your on AOKP and it doesn't do well with charging while switched off. Unplug it and hold the power button until it reboots. . Be patient and hold the button till it reboots.

FYI holding the power button for half a minute is the same as a battery pull just easier than a case and back cover removal ..

Yeah but in cases like this I just feel its easier to start with a device that you know for sure is off and you know for sure when it's turning on so you can pop the charger in there. C'est la vie.

[Q] [HELP] Not sure what happened...

Hello all...
I typically charge my phone while I sleep and it has never been a problem. I was running the stock deodexed ICS rom on my phone at the time. i unplugged it and all was well as usual. i grabbed my phone to come put a JB rom on it this morning and i left it on my desk, not plugged in. I came back to it and it was HOT, the entire phone, and wouldn't do anything. I took out the battery and let it cool (phone and battery) and now I got nothing.
Is there anything I can do??? I tried to search but couldn't find anything on this...
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

See if you can get into download mode or recovery. But let it cool for awhile.

sounds like a hard brick. check out mobiletechvideos.com on youtube they will fix it for $50
Question how would it be a hard brick if he didn't flash any ROMs on it yet..said he was running stock ROM and the phone got hot and wouldn't respond...sounds like the mother board is fried

my phone once was doing that same thing when it was just sitting there on the table. I picked it up though and felt it was very hot and pulled the battery before it could fry itself. It probably was some code that was looping or something because my phone never did it again

Phone shuts off after about 10 seconds, can't restore

I am not new to rooting, but I have a pretty serious problem it seems. No matter what mode I boot into (download, recovery, OS), the phone just shuts off after about 10 seconds. Obviously this makes restoring anything impossible.
This is my brothers phone, and at first I thought it might be the battery, so I tried mine (i have the same phone), but it does the same thing. Also does it if plugged in. The phone is rooted, on a recent CM10.1.2 build, but this just happened out of the blue, not after a flash or anything.
Any ideas? Or is the phone toast?
Could it be the power button getting stuck down? A Few others have had that happen.

I'm not 100% sure that's what it was, but slamming in on the table a few times seemed to fix it (at least temporarily). Also, it was turning itself on after a battery pull and reinsert, so that makes a lot of sense.
Thanks a ton for your help!
Lol! I've fixed VCRs, CD players and all sorts of things with that method! Glad it worked for you!

I have the same exact problem for my galaxy s3. I opened up mine and took the button out and it is still doing the 10 second shutdown. I think it's the power switch on the motherboard. Does that sound correct anyone ?????

Could be...
I think s good test for this is to remove/replace the battery and if it turns on on its own after putting the battery back in, its likely a power button related issue.
