I do not know what I did or if I did anything to the build.prop to mess up apps. I changed the build.prop of my G2 to state that it was an HTC Vision. In order to get Netflix to work.
Now that this trick is no longer needed and Netflix does work. I reverted my build.prop back to what it was before the changes (I lost the original and was thankful enough to have a few of you help me out on this). Now however, I dont know what happened. I know a few apps here in the US wont work when it was called the HTC Vision, but now simple apps (i.e. Adobe Flash 10.3) that state "All you need is android 1.5 and up" will sometimes not have the "Install" button in the market.
So when going to the Android Market on the Desktop (the market used from the PC if anyone doesnt know what I mean...which Im sure many of you do know. But covering all my bases), my phone is listed as "TMobile HTC TMobile G2." When originally it was just called a "TMobile G2" on the Android Market on the Desktop.
So my question is, did reverting back to the original build.prop change something, or am I missing something entirely?
I am currently running a rooted G2 from TMobile using CM 7.1.0 RC1
Any help in just some simple understanding is most welcoming, thank you
well if it was originally "tmobile g2" and now its listed as "tmobile htc tmobile g2"
and its not working you should change it back to "tmobile g2"
I did. I changed it back to when the original build.prop that came with the phone. Everything is back to spec from the day I first got it. Yet it says Tmobile HTC Tmobile G2. Why I'm so confussed

Try redownloading and installing the latest gapps
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
it's happened the same to me
If you downloaded the apps that aren't working while you were using the altered build.prop then that's why. You're gonna have to redownload them all, you could try titanium backup to restore data to them

Well that's the thing. I fixed the build.prop. Rebooted and reflashed CM 7.1 RC1 and updated my gapps. Still have issues with downloading apps that I currently had from TB. So idk. I'm just going to get a new cell when it comes out lol

when I check my settings in the online market it shows two phones, and HTC Vision and a tmobile G2. When I try to download certain games from my phone it doesnt show the download button. I think this is due to my phone being seen as an HTC Vision so the apps aren't available to this model. When I try to download an app from the online market it gives me the option of sending it to my G2 but isnt available for the Vision (see above sentence). The file never makes it to my phone, again probably because the market sees it as a Vision instead of a G2. Would a superwipe clean install correct this?
Update - Just updated to the newest CM7 nightly and did a full wipe during the update, not the superwipe though. Seems to fix the problem. The application I want to to down load worked. I didn't back up the settings so that may have something to do with it as well.
Every time you flash a new ROM, it registers a new device on the Market. Google doesn't know the difference between a new ROM and a new device with a different SIM card.
Anything that's compatible with a DZ should be compatible with the G2, they're 99.9% identical hardware wise.
If you want your phone to register as a G2, edit the build.prop to say so.
[Q] app is Your device is not compatible with this item when it is :(
Ok so I tried searching and the only answers I could come up with were for a different rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11626645&postcount=425) as the video said I'm a noob I hate myself, it's right lol. But I can't seem to figure this out. Before I dive in I want to know if it's similar for my current ROM to these steps. I don't want to screw anything up I tried clearing the market data, and checking the adult filter. None of that helped.
Phone is HTC DHD Telus is the provider, So I rooted to Android_Revolution_HD-4G_6.1.5 without any problem. Flashed over to the suggested radio. Phone seems to be working good and fast but I can't install the app. It ran on my phone before I rooted... what am I doing wrong. Even when I find it not through the market. It takes me to the market and says "Your device is not compatible with this item" and I know that's a load of crap. If there's someone smarter then me out there (so pretty much anyone) Help please

I'm having same problems with other apps and an earlyer version of ARHD(6.1.2). Would sure like to know how to resolve this. I'm thinking the ROM gives back a model, android version and manufacturer to android market(and maybe more info, i'm not an expert). If this says HTC Desire HD android 2.3.3, this is good. If this says Android Revolution Desire HD android 2.3.5 and this is not the response in the list of "the app" you want to download than market says "NO"???????? Or maybe it's something else?
At least I'm not the only one who can't figure it out
From what I can gather, its the new market causing the problem.
Wait until google fix it, or install an older market and delete the updater.

+1 JagDave is right!!
And you may also try :
1. Change the LCD density to 240 by editing build.prop using buildprop editor or something from the market,
2. Reboot (Normal),
3. Go to settings, then application, find market there and clear the cache and data (very important), and
4. Open Market and try to download your apps now!!
Worked for me, dont know about you but i hope it does work for you as well!!
I ended up going and swapping to CM7 cause I was having some other issues and that seemed to fix it thanks everyone!

Hey guys,
I just root my HOX (STOCK 4.0.4). The problem is I can't download apps from marker or to update apps.
I get an error message: Application requires newer SDK version.
What did I do wrong?
Thank you,
Evy

That maybe the Play Store thinking you have a newer Android version, even though that is strange considering that ICS and JB apps should all be compatible.
Try this, go to Application Manager from the Settings menu (or you can access it by using the context menu in the app drawer) and then select the Google Play Store. You then delete de data and cache from the app and relaunch it again to see if the problem is gone.
Did you make any changes to your build.prop file?
I'm getting the same error when trying to update Google Search through the app store. I'm also getting 'package file is invalid' when trying to update Tapatalk and a couple other apps that don't come to mind now.
This all started after I tried a new ROM that I didn't like then did a restore using Titanium to go back to Sick Sense. I backed up the data then wiped the phone (dalvik and all other caches), then reinstalled the ROM. Afterwards I restored the entire Titanium backup apps and data.
This is the first time I've wiped and re-romd since I initially rooted/romd six months ago. Until now I've never had any issues downloading apps from play store.
Could there be a file that was restored that possibly should not have been restored?
I tried what was suggested above but it didn't work. Any ideas?
This is my setup:
One X on AT&T
Android Version 4.0.3
Sick Sense HOXL ROM
Sense 4.0
HTC SDK API level 4.11

You have a AT&T ..... wrong forum for you buddy. Problem may stay the same and at the end the solutions also....just to point out you are actually in the wrong section.
I appreciate your concern, thanks. But I believe this is a software issue and not a carrier problem.
Edit:
I also posted here because I actually did a search and this is the closest topic that matches my problem.

Yes at the end i think so too, it was just a pointer because there are still too many people in this forum with questions regarding the other one x phone.

I'm having similar problems as the OP is and I did change my build.prop. The sdk version was changed to 19 and then I had to change it back because my device was unusable with it set to 19. I should also note that I lost root after it was changed the first time, and I think I might also loose root on every reboot. It seems to be at a random time root disappears but I assume it's because of a reboot. I'm running the stock att sense 5 rom with 4.2.2, should be api 17. Has a solution been found to this?
Note - I understand this isn't the correct forum for the att HTC one x. The problem is similar to what I have and I didn't want to create a new thread.

Try doing a full wipe and install back the rom or flash the rom again with wiping cache and dalvik?
It seems to me that I am missing the com.lge.hiddenmenu APK for the E973 LGOG since i cannot gain access to that menu ( doesnt exist on my app list)
so everytime I enter the dialer code 3845*973 a menu pops up but all it has is one line and it just says NULL on it.
Im hoping that reinstalling this application will remedy the problem.
please folks, if anyone can send me a titanium backup that would be AMAZING.
Have a great day folks!
It wasn't ever working for me on the e975 international port. So... I'm not sure it ever worked for us.
The funny thing is that it had worked for me before I root, unlockedn the bootloader and/or unlock the carrier itself.
Im not too sure which of the three processes caused the error.
I also used titanium to uninstall/reinstall the apk ( titanium found it) but same null error
did you flash to houstonn's international rom? or are you still on canadian stock?
Canadian stock

I wonder if copying the ICS one would fix it.
So I guess this only pertains to AT&T subscribers, but before flashing ARHD to my M8, I noticed there was a new version of the VVM app. I was hoping to find a way to get this running on ARHD. Don't know if anyone has some ideas, I have copied the apk to /system/priv-app/ and reflashed the rom (since we lack system r/w). The app doesnt show up automatically, when clicked on it will install but still doesnt show up anywhere.
Download it from the market but you must be connected to gsm for activation.

It's not available in the market. I checked.
